Anyone know if its possible to create a hot link from one slide to another like a table of contents with links to the corresponding slides?

Use Hyperlinks. Select the text and say what slide you want it to jump to.

No, Apple have specifically disallowed linking to other applications from Keynote, It's believed they think it is a security risk.

How to create a link in a keynote document towards an iCloud keynote document

Hello everyone,
I want to create a keynote presentation (located in iCloud) and make a link to another Keynote presentation, also located in iCloud.
Apparently, this is not possible, since when I create a link, the only possibility is to link to another file located on my physical drive.
If anyone has any ideas how to bypass this...

Note that there's currently a bug in the way annotations work on an OCG. The link will disappear but the bounding box of the link will remain an active hotspot. In your case however the bug may be useful, as if two link objects partly overlap on the page and one isn't on an OCG, turning off the OCG does indeed disable the hotspot.
Follow this process to see what it can (and cannot) do:
From the Tools > Print Production Panel, open Preflight
Select 'single fixups' - the third icon
Click the "Layers" section just so things will go in a logical place
Click "options" then "Create new Preflight Fixup"
Name it "Put all links on the Links layer"
Click the "Layers category" and scroll in the right-side list to choose "Put objects on layer"
In the "Objects identified by a check" menu, choose "Annotation is of type Link"
In the Layer name field, enter "Links"
Click OK to save your new check.
Assuming you have a document open, select your new Fixup and press the Fix button.
You'll be asked to save the file with a new name, then you'll get a message about the layers being modified and instructing you to close and re-open the file (that's a limitation in Preflight, until you do the new layer won't show up).
To understand how the overlapping OCG-nonOCG bug works, now you have a link on the Links layer, create another one using the normal tool (which will not be on the layer). Half-overlap them and see what happens when you turn the layer off and on.
The simplest way to test is to create a blank document and add a "go to a web page" link with a visible rectangle - then when you migrate it onto a layer, you can probe for the hotspot by hovering your mouse and looking for the URI tooltip.

Can I export keynote to pdf with hot links?

I'd like to make a simple PDF of my Keynote slides, but when I do that, I lose the hot links. Is there a way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

repair for version 6 and above:
perform all these tasks in the order below:
1 delete Keynote, right click Keynote in the applications folder and select Move to Trash
2 restart the Mac; Apple menu > restart
3 immediately after the start chime, press the shift key until you see the Apple logo.
let it fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4 Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive > First Aid tab and click repair disc permissions
5 when complete, restart the Mac normally
6 install Keynote from the Mac app store

Create a Link to a different Keynote file?

Does anyone know if you can create a link in one keynote file that would open a different keynote file? Essentially, I'd like to create a looping slideshow as an introduction to a presentation (while people are getting seated), and then when I click the mouse, it would automatically open my actual presentation file, which would be a second keynote file. Any thoughts? Thanks!

The link works fine when just "playing" on my computer. Have you had any luck in rehearse mode or an actual presentation?

I have created a navigation system on the master pages and set the presentation to links only mode. I also have other links scattered throughout the program, like a linkable table of contents, etc. Some of them work, some of them don't. Not sure why. Anyone out there having similar issues? Or have any idea on how I can solve this issue? Any help would be appreciated!

Links should not create any problems in Keynote. If they are set up correctly on text, the text will be underlined. Objects that have links will have a curved arrow bottom right, if you click the arrow a popup will display the link information.
Try this repair for Keynote, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:

delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application

empty the trash: Finder > Empty Trash

Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.

Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive

How do I create "metallic" text in Keynote 4?

Hello everyone!
I'm in need of some advice. I have been searching across the internet for a way to create metallic text in Keynote 4, similar to the black metallic text that Steve Jobs uses in his keynotes.
Is this possible with Keynote 4, or do I need to download some additional software / plug-ins?
Any info anyone might have would be much appreciated!!

Apple's always creating cool graphic images that make you want to do the same! If you're talking about the same "metallicish" effect I think you are, I did it for my recreation of the Leopard logo here.

The link to the .key file I used is in the text at the bottom of the page. It's essentially a special use of gradients (I've got tips for those on some of my other pages). I tried creating the same look in Art Text, but, while they've got LOTS of cool (even cooler) effects to use, there's not one that really comes close to what Apple's doing. But, after seeing that people wanted to do "shiny" buttons, they released an update that has new Web 2.0 styles that are exactly that. You should probably drop them a line to see if they can help make this one step easier for you

Creating Hot Spots in DPS

I have a spot where I would like the same position to have both the open and the close button.
For example, an image with a little “+” icon : when you tap the “+” icon, a box opens up with information, and the “+” icon changes to an “x” icon (the “x” is in the exact same place as the “+” was before)
The image with the “+” icon is one state, the second state shows the information with the “x” icon – I would like it so that when you click on this “x” it brings you back to the first state.
I know it can be done because I have seen it used in other digital magazine publications (for example, in Vanity Fair magazine)
Can anyone explain me how to do it step-by-step? Tutorial link also be very helpful.

Any way to place hot link to e-mail message in a Numbers doc?

Is there a way to include text in a cell that links directly to a saved e-mail message, similar to the way an e-mail address can be a hot link to a new message?

Jerry: This question is related to my other recent one about a client management template. I have a lot of e-mail contact with potential buyers, and want to keep track of my contacts with them over time. I can go to Mail ands find the message threads, but just wondered if there was a way to keep simple records of my clients and my interactions with them.
I am working to create a Numbers doc that incorporates clients' names and contact info (easy enough) and I want it to show when I contacted them, and link to the e-mails I have exchanged with each one. Maybe that last part isn't possible. I have looked at client management apps, but all seem way more complex and feature-laden than I need. Just trying to find (or create) a lean method of keeping track of client contacts.

Ahh. You are using SharePoint Foundation. Yes in that case you would not have that feature.
That makes your requirements bit tricky given I verified creating this link without Publishing feature activated and it did not work and hence I tend to believe that it would not work in your case without that feature.
What you can try is drop the page viewer web part and try configuring it to open your file share and see if that helps. I do not have Foundation otherwise I would have verified this before posting but give it a try and see if it helps.

HELP! FOR LOOP TO SCROLL THROUGH TABLE AND CREATE DATABASE LINK

Here's the scenario, not much of a PL programmer, just basic SQL so really need some help people!
I have 2 tables. 1 contains list of DB's and the other contains rules to follow.
I need to create a loop that goes through the table containing the DB's and on each row a DB link is created (Only 1 link allowed!)
Once created, the schema currently logged in with also has an account on the linked DB in order to run scripts- The scripts are stored centrally hence the requirement for the link to the target DB.
There are numerous scripts that need to be executed and can all be called from 1 script, once executed the loop exists and the database link needs to be dropped.
Once dropped, the first loop continues, creating a DB link for the next DB listed in the table (and all the scripts are fired again)
This continues against all the DB's listed in the table.

Thanks again for the response, you've hit the nail on the head. SQL scripts on a unix server, a loop goes through a table 1 at a time. Each row gets a link created and then all the scripts stored on the server are executed against the db linked to. So I'm assuming this is a loop within a loop.
1 loop to go through the table to create the link and then another loop within once connected to execute all the scripts against the connected DB. Once the scripts are run, the loop exits and moves onto the next server and so on until all the servers have the scripts are run.
It's PL/SQL scripts we're after and not shell scripts as this would free us from the OS constraints.

How/where do you want to accomplish it?
Within the document? Using Acrobat? Using another application?
Using Acrobat within the document would be possible using Acrobat JavaScript. You can access the annotation objects of your document, and you then can evaluate the properties of each of these objects. Have a closer look at the Annotation Object section in the Acrobat JavaScript documentation.
You will look for the contents property, and evaluate its content. When you have found something looking like a URL, you can create a link (using the rect property of the annotation), and you have what you want; you might then think to destroy the annotation, as it may overlay the link.

Create a link to movies stores on external hard drive for itunes

I seem to have an issue with creating a link to movies stored on my external top be played on itunes. Im NOT trying to move my itunes music library. I had to resetablish my links. Previously I had all of my movies stored on an external, would just highlight and drag to Itunes movies, an icon and a shortcut would quickly copy ans all was good. Now when I drag the movie icon to itunes it begins a "copying" process that takes a very long time.

What I do is this:
I keep the 'Keep iTunes folder Organised' option check (on). So that When I buy music or rip a CD, the music goes into my iTunes folder on my iMac's internal drive (in my home folder - default location).
However, I have elected to keep all my movies on an external drive, effectively meaning that I only want iTunes to partially organise my folder.
How do I get around this?
Simple. To add a movie to iTunes from my external drive, I simply OPTION-DRAG the file into iTunes. ie. select the file in the Finder, hold down the option key and drag it onto iTunes' open window. It will add the movie to the library, but WILL NOT copy it to the iTunes folder - the file will be referenced from its original location.

not allowing use of Work flows).
I have a problem creating this link namely because SharePoint changes the patter of a string that is used in creating a form name(Username and now() function characters change
in URL).
Is there an easy way to reference an url to a view in Infopath form via C#
