Creating Hot Spots in DPS

I have a spot where I would like the same position to have both the open and the close button.
For example, an image with a little “+” icon : when you tap the “+” icon, a box opens up with information, and the “+” icon changes to an “x” icon (the “x” is in the exact same place as the “+” was before)
The image with the “+” icon is one state, the second state shows the information with the “x” icon – I would like it so that when you click on this “x” it brings you back to the first state.
I know it can be done because I have seen it used in other digital magazine publications (for example, in Vanity Fair magazine)
Can anyone explain me how to do it step-by-step? Tutorial link also be very helpful.
Thnx.

There are tutorials for creating hot spots and toggle buttons in DPS Tips > Advanced Overlays. Example:

  • Create Hot Spot with multiple APX

I have many APX units (802.11g versions) providing individual coverage for corridors in an office building. I would like users to see a single hot spot (or at least fewer hot spots) that utilize multiple nodes. All APXs are ethernet connected (static addresses, same network) and currently 'create' multiple individual wireless networks. As long as users stay in one place it's not a problem, but they cannot move about without necessitating a change from hot spot to hot spot. WDS seems to revolve around avoiding the ethernet connectivity which I absolutely want to keep. Every definition I find on the discussions about 'extending' the wireless network seems to revolve around an APX being a client of a wireless network while providing wireless access at the same time. What I'm hoping to do is to have additional APX units 'bridge' a common ethernet network while presenting a single WiFi network that maintains connectivity if users roam to another part of the facility. Anybody pulled this off? Tips? Pointers?
    Thanks,
    Greg

Unless I'm missing something, it seems you want to create a "roaming network". Read about it in page 42 of Apple AirPort Networks.
You are correct... do NOT confuse a roaming network with "extending" a network, or creating a WDS. A roaming network is infinitely preferable to those alternatives.
Each Express must be configured to use the *exact same network name and security.* Users will be able to wander about the office and will enjoy seamless connections without having to join a different network. There are only minor caveats... if you're listening to an iTunes radio station for instance, streaming will stop as you go from one node to another.
In a roaming network, the Expresses will use different wireless channels. There are only three non-overlapping channels available in a "g" network. That's not as bad as it seems, though. For instance, if you've configured them to choose their wireless channels "automatically", one Express may choose Channel 1, a second Express will choose Channel 11, and a third will choose Channel 6. By the time you add a fourth Express, ideally it will be sufficiently distant from the first so it can choose Channel 1 again.
When you get them all configured, you may wish to manipulate their multicast rate to optimize your network's performance. Why? If one Express remains within range of a client as it moves away from it and closer to another, it may still be connected to the first Express even though its signal is relatively weak. Multicast rate is designed to address that problem.
Transmitter power is another parameter you can adjust in the event an Express's range is too great and you want to distribute the workload - an Express has a limit of ten wireless clients.

Use Dreamweaver. Fireworks = Image editor. Dreamweaver = HTML
    editor.

  • Create hot spot for link?

    Hi,
Technically this is text inside a text box -- but I want to click anywhere
on the green SHOP ONLINE box and activate a link to go to the store:
    Home
    Any suggestions welcomed.
    Anita

    Hi Anita
You can use the text frame itself as a box and apply hyperlink for your shop page. So that users can click anywhere on the box and they will be directed to shop page.
If am missing out anything here , please provide me more details to understand what exactly you are trying to achieve.
    Thanks,

  • DPS: Disabling Top Navigation Bar in Adobe App Builder disables Hot Spots in Articles

When I disable the top navigation bar in Adobe's app builder, my hot spots (linked to MSOs) in certain articles are also disabled. The hot spots work if I "refresh" and swipe back to an article with no overlays. How do I get my hot spots to work and also have the top nav bar disabled? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I do not know how to access it now that the app has been accepted. I had originally typed it up in Word thinking that I would be able to access it from the appeal site later, but that site is no longer accessible.
I essentially explained that I had followed the 59 page DPS guide step-by-step and that no where did it explain how to enable the iOS status bar to be visible at all times ... that I was a designer and not a programmer ... that in 2012, 12 of the top 20 grossing apps on the iTunes Newstand were created with DPS ... that my app was an interactive "literary" travel app that was to be read like a brochure.  All that must have done the trick.

Yes, it is one of the things AirPort Express was specifically designed for.

  • Hyperlinks - how to create a hot spot link?

I would like to link to a new page from a button at the footer area only.
This would not have a main menu level link.
So where would I add the page in the site plan?
Would I add a page to a 2nd tier and hide the name?
Also how do I 'call' the hyperlink?
    Another scenario:
There doesn't seem to be a way to create a hotspot over part of an image to link from the background image. - AND any text or image/box that sits in the footer area on the master page(not in the background) moves around when there is a concertina panel that pushes it down.

    Hi,
You can add the page as  top level page. When you're creating it in Plan mode, right-click the page thumbail and click Menu Options -> Exclude Page From Menus. This will make the page not appear in the main level menu link. You can call the hyperlink by selecting the object you want to have the hyperlink then clicking the drop down in the Control Strip where it says Enter Link. Select the page you would like to link to.
As for the footer link, I suggest using real text and applying the hyperlink to that by selecting the text frame and typing in the link. If you still want to use a hotspot, you can create a rectangle over the area you would like to link. Edit the rectangle to have no stroke and a 1% opaque (probably white) fill, then you will be able to use the link feature for that area. The biggest worry for creating a hot spot is that it may not line up correctly in all browsers as the page reflows, and depending on the rectangle's fill the link may not work properly in IE.
    Thanks,

  • How to create a hot spot for a browser filled image?

I have a background image created in Photoshop in the browser fill, scale to fill.
This is my landing page and would like to create a hot spot or "invisible" rectangle to link to another page in my site when clicked.
I have this done and working, however, my problem is that when my browser size is enlarged or reduced, the spot where I want the hot spot to be changes in size and location.
I want to create a hot spot that will keep its form around my logo no matter the screen size.
I have tried this with a no fill box and white stroke to see how it reacts with each fill property but cannot figure out how to create a box to be in a fixed position that will always match up
with the browser fill image location and size.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi
Have you tried to pin the box on page so that it should be in fixed position ?
Also if want the box to be on some specific position with page scroll, then you can try applying scroll effects which would scroll the box on page but within defined positions.

  • Button Hot Spot Problems

    Hi guys
I am using the button hot spot method to create a small interactive ‘tag’ that contains the copyright information for the picture of lightening in my app design. The tag is a MSO, made up of two states. State 1 is the icon that you tap to trigger state 2 which is a textbox containing the copyright information. When the user taps the textbox, the MSO goes back to state 1. Therefore, the icon in state 1 is a button embedded in the state (which triggers state 2) and the textbox in state 2 is also a button embedded in the state (to trigger state 1).
Below are two screenshots of the app from my iPad and two close-up views of the MSO. You will be able to see the problem I am encountering with the button hot spot method (see bottom left hand corner of lightening image). Ever since I updated Adobe Content Viewer and DPS Desktop Tools CS6, the MSO (explained above) has a ‘double’ appearance. Both the icon (state one) and the textbox (state 2) are not viewing correctly. This MSO worked perfectly before the most recent updates to DPS and Adobe Content Viewer.
Are there any known issues with buttons embedded in MSOs and the button hot spot method, since the above mentioned updates? Or have I made a mistake when creating the MSO?
    Your help is much appreciated!

There are issues, if you use "Effects" together with MSO contents that "expand" the geometric bounds of the MSO (e.g. drop shadow).
The contents would shift slightly depending of the size of the effect. This is a known issue. Not resolved yet.

  • MS Excel document as attachment to a PDF document does not open with a hot spot/link in the PDF

Hi, I have attached an excel file to a pdf document. I need to open this document in a new window by clicking an icon/hotspot in the pdf document to which it it attached.
I am using the Link Tool to create a hot spot around the icon in the pdf. In the next window I am using the Go to Page view option, opening the attachment to its first page and clicking the "set link" button.
For some reason, clicking the hotspot does not open the excel document as it does another pdf document.
Need help resolving this issue with attached documents.

Select a particular download file. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window.  In the Open With section choose the desired default application from the dropdown menu then click on the Change All button.
For .dmg files use DiskImageMounter (System/Library/CoreServices/ folder.)
For .zip files use Archiver - same folder as above - or download TheArchiver - MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.

  • Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area

Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no other computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area and is wanting a printer to use occasionally. He doesn't want to deal with a computer and I keep his iPad updated for him at my home.  Please shed some light on this for us PLEASE. Thanks

In that case, it should be possible. I haven't tried this directly, but I believe it should work.
You'll need to get an actual AirPrint compatible Printer.
Check here for a list of Printers you can choose from.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Once you have the compatible printer, using the Hotspot feature from the iPhone he'll have to create the Wifi bubble form the iPhone, and connect the Printer to that Wifi network.
Then connect the iPad to that same Wifi network provided by the iPhone. When all that is done, the printer should appear in any of the Apps that can Print under the Action Arrow button.
For instance in email, pressing the action arrow should show a Print option. In there the printer should appear.
Alternatively you can simply buy a wireless router and setup the network through there even if there is no internet attached.  Connect the wireless printer to the router network, and connect the iPad or iPhone to that same wifi network to print.

  • Can't Make a Hot Spot!

    Hi there,
I'm using Dreamweaver 8 to make a new website.
For some reason I can't make a hot spot. I've only made one
website before and just checked on those pages and was able to
click on the hot spot tools and draw a hot spot.
Then I go to my new website and click on an image and then
click on the hot spot tools and try to draw a hot spot on the
picture- what happens is the picture tries to "drag and drop". That
is the command that dreamweaver says is happening when I try to try
to draw the hot spot. ???????
    What went wrong???
Here is the Html code behind the photo I'm trying to draw the
    hot spot on:
    <tr>
    <td colspan="3"><img
    src="graphics-headers/skyfooter.jpg" alt="Sky Footer" width="800"
    height="45" /></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated as I don't know
what I did in the code that's preventing me from drawing them.
As I'm just starting making all my pages off my template-
    found another problem:
Template won't update all the changes. For instance: Made a
change to the copyright footer - capitilized first letter- this
change won't update. Made changes to the page properties with a
link color change, also changed editable region- these changes
    updated.
Weird!!! So the pages made from the template will be updated
only part ways from the original Template!
What did I do wrong? My first website went very well.
    www.zoodoc-stories.com

When you create a polygonal hotspot, you don't click and
    drag. You click at
the vertex of each side. Is that what you are doing?
Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes
    not propagating
    from Template to child -
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
7, Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the
    template,
adding page specific content, and resaving the template with
    an *.html
extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if
    this is the case
by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything
    like <!--
TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done)
The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced >
    Recreate Site
Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing
    them. Have you
    done any of those?

  • How to have a hot spot open a small separate window

    Hi everybody.
I'm trying to make a new website.  My old one (burrjohnson.com) is in bad need for an upgrade.  In my new website that I'm currently working on, I have a page that has a picture in the main div section. The picture is an image that shows 9 guitars.  I have made each guitar in the image into a hot spot.  I've created a seperate html page for each hotspot to go to that has a description of each guitar.  I want people to be able to click on each guitar in the image and have a window pop up (seperate smaller page) that has the description for that particular guitar.  With my old website, on the "gigs" page (the page where people could see where my band is playing) if you clicked on the images I placed on that page, (like a pictire of the club for that gig) it opened a seperate window containing the clubs website.  I accomplished this by putting the clubs website address in the "link" portion of the properties inspector for the image in question. It opened a seperate window because in the "link" window, the address for the clubs website was preceded by "javascript:openNewLgWindow".  so, for example, in the gigs page, at the top, there is an image under the info for our gig we did in Putnam Valley on november 5th.  It is a Putnam Valley picture, and if you click on it, it opens a seperate window with their website.  In the properties inspector for that image, the "link" window has the following in it:
    javascript:openNewLgWindow('http://www.pvpr.com/home.php?ID=ParkFacilities');
This opens a seperate window with their address in it.
Now, with the new website page,  I want to have each hot spot surrounding each guitar open its respective info page, but putting the javascript part in front of the name of page does not work.   if I take out the javascript part, the hot spot will take you to the info page but it doesn't open a seperate window.
Idealy what I hope I can do is just have a small window open when you click on the hot spot (because the content in the info pages are only about 4 inches by 4 inches
    How can I do this??
    Thank you in advance
    Burr

Making a POP-UP window in Dreamweaver with the Behaviors Panel
    =================================================
    1.  Insert an image or type some text on your page.
    2.  Select it and go to the Link Field in your Properties Panel.  Browse for the file or type the full URL (http://example.com).
    3.  Go to the Behaviors Panel and hit the plus sign to add a new behavior.
    4.  Select Open Browser Window from the list.
    5.  Browse to file or type the URL (Yes, a 2nd time).
    6.  Set the height, width and other optional attributes for your pop-up window. (See link below for details)
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcd a9110b1f693f21-7b07a.html
    7.  Hit OK.
    8.  Verify that the behavior's trigger event is onClick.  If it's not, click the event box to show other trigger options.
    9.  Go back to the Properties Panel and replace the first URL in the link field with javascript:() This makes the primary link into a null link.
Save your page and preview in browsers.
PS. It takes longer to explain all these steps than it does to do it.
    Good luck,

  • Hot Spot question...

    Hello All,
I’m creating a SCORM quiz to put into our LMS. I am
using a Hot Spot question slide and I’m not happy with how is
works and would like to change it slightly.
I have inserted an image to the slide and setup my hot spot
area but I don’t like the way the student is allowed to make
multiple selections on the screen and then having to click on each
selection marker to make disappear or having to click the CLEAR
    button.
I would like the student to be allowed place only one select
on the screen at a time, i.e. If they make a marker selection on
screen and then click some where else then their first maker is
moved to the new position instead of a new marker being placed on
    screen.
I have tried the "Allow clicks on Hot Spot only" but this
does not achieve the desired result of only one marker on the
    screen at a time.
I am comfortable with editing ActionScript (.as) files but
    I’m unsure where to start.
Can anybody help with this issue?

I'm not sure what you mean.
    What is a 'selection marker'?
Are you referring to Quiz Slides? Or just standard slides
    with a
clickable area placed on them? If you're trying to do this
    with a Quiz
Slide, try using just a standard slide with a hotspot. You
    don't need to
use Quiz Slides to have the interaction report back via SCORM
    - just
select the properties of that hotspot and set the reporting
    options.
