Creating Hyperlink using InDesign CS6 Server

Hello,
Could anyone help me to automate hyperlink generation for the web related contents, I can acheive this using desktop, but not in InDesign CS6 server, since 'selection' property is not supporting by the server version.
Thanks,
Praveen

As i understand, if your panels at the same height you can create a new document with 6 page with the  size scaled to 25%, then on page panel: unckeck AllowDocumet Pages to Shuffle. Drag the pages to be side to side, and that make the total width of you mural
When you export to pdf, on general tab check on all pages & spreads

  • Creating Murals Using InDesign CS6

We often use InDesign for creating seamless multi-panel murals, i.e. a 6 panel flow wall where each panel could be considered a 'tile' (like tiles in a RIP), suppose 40" x 96" each done at 25% scale.
The problem arises when using a spread where either pages are different sizes or when resizing all pages, viz: either an undesirable gap or overlap is created between panels.
We prefer using InDesign for this because there may fifty=plus logos or other images placed thereupon, and using Illustrator would become tedious.
    What solutions are there?
    Thanks!

  • How to create interactive pdf for Ipad using InDesign CS6

Hi I created a Magazine layout using InDesign CS6 and wanted it to be viewed on native Ipad reader (but not as apps).  I put interactivity features like page navigations and hyperlinks and converted it to interactive pdf. The problem was the links and buttons are not showing on Ipad.
I tried using Acrobat Pro to create the hyperlinks and this time the navigations and hyperlinks are showing. But is there a way not to create the hyperlinks manually one by one (specially the next page and previous page). If I have more than 100 pages of documents this process will be very tedious.
Is there a solution to create the interactive pdf directly from InDesign without creating the links in Acrobat?

    Hi Guys
This is Sean Smith.  Marilou who wrote the original post works for me.  Bob if you could point us in the direction of details you need I’ll ensure we provide the additional information as soon as possible.
M tells me she pretty much doing exactly what Steve's article suggests.
The concern is what a remarkably cumbersome process this appears to be.
Even though I believe her explanation entirely I find the problem to be highly disconcerting as it’s wasting an immense amount of valuable time and inhibiting the production process significantly.
She is producing wonderful results but via an immensely painstaking process fraught with potential for error.  Each page link has to be manually linked to the next by number.  It’s entirely possible to make a mistake and link to the incorrect page thus missing pages.
If she inserts a new page – guess what? All the pages links have to changed manually and double checked yet again.
If she makes a ‘Contents’ section as we do and exports the InDesign file as an interactive PDF all the contents items and links are missing and are therefore blank.
She then has to export the document as a plain PDF and do the job again in Acrobat.
For an extravagantly wealthy company with such extraordinarily expensive software I find this to be entirely incredulous.
Who is the Product Manager for InDesign?
Are they aware of this issue?
What are they doing about it and when will it be done?
Just curious are you guys paid employees or volunteers as this appears to be an official forum and we are new here?
Digital publishing of PDF magazines appears to be an explosive growth market especially for platforms such as the iPad but this primary product for the task appears to be inadequate or ill-conceived.
Is DPS a possible solution or is this more for Apps than PDF production?

    Sean

  • Hi, I am using Indesign CS6, How to set the page size in Inches.

Hi, I am using Indesign CS6, How to set the page size in Inches.

All fields in InDesign can be entered in any measurement system. So, if you want to make an 8"x10" document and go to File>New Document and the window looks like this:
…you can type either 8 in or 8" into the Width field like this:
…and when you move to the next field, it will convert the eight inches into the equivalent number in the unit of measure that it is using at the moment, like this:
… (203.2 milimeters is the same as 8 inches). You can also enter a different measurement unit into other fields once the file is created, such as the width or height of a frame, or the position of an object in the X and Y coordinates.
If you would rather just work in inches instead of having to type the inches mark or abbreviation, go to InDesign>Preferences>General and select the Units & Increments tab. There you will see Ruler Units for Horizontal and Vertical at the top of the window. Set them to Inches and all of the fields will display in inches. If you do that to an open document, you will change the unit of measure for that document. If you do it while no documents are open, it will change the unit of measure for any new documents you create. To change the unit of measure for existing documents, you will have to open each and make the change.

  • Cannot access Adobe Folio Builder using Indesign (CS6) on Windows 7, error message is 'An error has occured while trying to sign in to the Folio Builder Panel' [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE]

Cannot access Adobe Folio Builder using Indesign (CS6) on Windows 7, error message is 'An error has occured while trying to sign in to the Folio Builder Panel' [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE]

Yes, I can open the DPS portal via the Folio Builder panel within InDesign. Although I have created Folios locally within InDesign CS6, the DPS portal is empty and everthing greyed out with just the text "There are no folios to display. Create folios with the folio builder in InDesign".
If I try to sign in within the Folio Builder panel in InDesign, I get the error message [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE] . In addition I am also not able to access the "Help" menu from within InDesign although I am connected to the internet.
To complicate it even further, I am working in the UK whereas all internet control (firewall) and licences are handeled by head office in Germany. I am not sure if this is a firwewall issue or not but if the IT department in Germany could get support from Adobe to understand the access requirements, this may help.
Hopefully using the forum someone out there will know the answer.

  • I am facing difficulties activating InDesign CS6 server

I'd like to share with you my frustration about InDesign CS6 Server which tries to do the very same as shown above, but apparenty noone at Adobe did think about the fact that ID Server has NO GUI. So as a customer youre left with an Installation that provides NO means for later offline activation, but provides the very same link at installation, basically guiding you through a process that can not be accomplished with ID Server by any means.
Moreover, the Installer claims there is a 7-day grace period until you MUST have activated your license but even with entering a valid code the Server wont start from second ONE, stating "Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit". This sort of misdesign is what makes customers furious! And then they wonder why people use circumvention technologies.

    Hi Detlef,
For offline installation scenarios of InDesignserver, if activation is not done while installation, then as a user we need a utility named "Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Toolkit (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html) " for activating InDesignServer.
For usage of Provisioning Toolkit, please refer "http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/Ad obe_Provisioning_Toolkit_Enterprise_Edition_v5.pdf"
Using the specified utility, 1st generate the Request Code, use this Request code to generate a response code on site "http://www.adobe.com/go/getactivated". Then use that response code in the Provisioning toolkit, to activate InDesignServer.
    Please, do follow following steps:-
Now type the following command in that Terminal/Command Prompt window
Set directory to adobe_prtk and type below command
                          adobe_prtk --tool=Type1Exception --generate --serial=1111111111111111111111111 --leid=InDesignServer-CS6-Win\Mac-GM
This will generate a Request Code something like : - YXpex7HpnjTKTG9yK4kK/BE/VmeAKJrh
Now go tohttp://www.adobe.com/go/getactivated on some another online machine.
Ø  Login with your adobe ID and password the click on “Generate Response Code”.
Ø  Now enter Request code and Serial number (using which you have generated Request Code), click “Generate Response Code” button.
Ø  It will give you a Response code, eg: - jnGVmMxU0IkIBv324qhALnT2Yt9RhyCBr8hTtJBAtBs=
Ø  Now type the following command in command prompt/terminal.
                       adobe_prtk --tool=Type1Exception --accept --serial=11111111111111111111 --responsecode=jnGVmMxU0IkIBv324qhALnT2 Yt9RhyCBr8hTtJBAtBs= --leid=InDesignServer-CS6-Mac-GM
you will get the following message:
                    Copyright 2012 Adobe Systems Incorporated
                    All rights reserved.
                    Return Code = 0
It shows that the InDesign Server has been successfully activated

  • How do I save my file using InDesign CS6 so that it can be opened with CS5?

I know other people asked similar questions but I can't find anything that helps me figure my issue out.
Basically, I packaged my file using InDesign CS6. When I sent it to the person it needed to be sent to, she couldn't open it. She was running CS5.
So now I'm trying to REpackage it still using CS6 but when I make an IDML version and try to package it, it says that I need to SAVE it. Well the only options are CS6, which I can't use again, and another IDML version. If I did the IDML it would just save it as another untitled document and then I'd have to start all over.
Actually I just tried that, and InDesign crashed.
    Any suggestions?

    Hey,
There is no such function in InDesign as 'saving to a lower version' (as it is in e.g. FrameMaker). There are interchange formats: obsolete INX (CS2,CS3,CS4) and current IDML (CS5, CS5.5, CS6).
You need to export (ctrl+e) previously saved document into IDML and attach to existing INDD file (Attaching is not necessary as IDML is a self-sufficient file). Also it's a really good idea to attach a PDF file (from CS6) as there might be some differences when opening a IDML from higher file in lower version program.
Final package could look like this:
         Document fonts
         Links
              original file.indd
              original file.idml
              original file.pdf
    best regards

  • Using InDesign CS6 onWindows PC.  Apple icon and traffic lights in L top corner are missing.

Using InDesign CS6 onWindows PC.  Apple icon and traffic lights in L top corner are missing and so are some of the editing features.  I fixed this once before by accident but can't remember how I did it.  All I remember is it had something to do with the veiw % in other applications - I think!

I've been using a tutorial that is obviously been done on a Mac.
I used to have a link somewhere that was basically a list of all of the differences between the two platforms, but I can't lay hands on it. I'm sure if you asked us about the features that were missing or broken, we could answer fairly easily - you know, like "Preferences are under the InDesign menu on a Mac, but in Windows they're under Edit."
The worst of these differences is in keyboard shortcuts - Macs have an extra modifier key, so whenever I switch platforms I always spend twenty minutes flopping my hands around and muttering uncomplimentary things about Cupertino and Redmond, at least until muscle memory takes over.

  • When trying to start InDesign CS6 Server: command not found

    Greetings,
I just installed InDesign CS6 Server, but when trying to run the application from terminal I get the following error: -bash: InDesignServer: command not found
I thought, maybe it had something to do with the licensing so I ran this command:
    MacBook-Pro-van-Mario:~ mariovandeneynde$ cd /Applications/Utilities/Adobe\ Application\ Manager/Enterprise/utilities/APTEE/CS6
    MacBook-Pro-van-Mario:CS6 mariovandeneynde$ ./adobe_prtk --tool=StartTrial --leid=InDesignServer-CS6-Mac-GM
    RESULT:
              Copyright 2012 Adobe Systems Incorporated
              All rights reserved.
    StartTrial Successful
    Return Code = 0
So, I tried to launch IDS again, but always the same error.
Now, my mac isn't a MAC Server, as mentioned in the Tech Specs, but I don't think that should mind, cause the installation was successful.
So, anybody got any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks!
    Mario

    Got it to work eventually.
I was calling "InDesignServer -port 12345"
But I had to call the indesignserver.command application instead. That did the trick!
    Thanks!
    M.

  • Editing Photoshop CS6 file using InDesign CS6

I need to edit a Photoshop CS6 file using InDesign CS6. Specifically, I am editing a business card and want to make changes to the layered components (for example: changing color hues, changing logo, changing fonts) and I know nothing about InDesign. Can anyone give me some pointers?

The thing is, I don’t have Photoshop or Illustrator; I only have InDesign CS6 and I want to do the following:
    Deepen the colors
Swap the logo for another one
    Change the font
I am not able to access the layers because I used the place function to insert the jpeg file in the InDesign document. I remember once being able to access the layered document, but I don't remember how. I tried opening the Photoshop file using InDesign, but it doesn't come up as a readable file.

  • Created Graphics Using InDesign's Drawing Tools

    Hello,
I Created Graphics Using InDesign’s Drawing Tools, but when I published to Kindle or EPUB, the graphics do not appear?  All other raster images that are on the same page appear in Kindle Previewer.  Is there a hidden button I must enable for Graphics created with InDesign’s own tools to get them to publish to Kindle?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    iaustin

I tried your suggestions(group, achor) and it still did not resolve my Kindle image issue.
I also tried exporting to EPUB format and the InDesign created images appear as drawn.
I conclude that have a Kindle ONLY related issue. (Tried in both PC Kindle and Amazon previewers).
I wonder what else can I try?
Can you clarify your statement... "but at least one line above where the images are visible?"

  • Can I use InDesign cs6 to open and work with PM6.5 files?

Can I use InDesign cs6 to open and work with PM6.5 files?

Lrak wrote: "It sounds like I should to that before endeavoring to transfer the manuscript?" (re-link)
It should be much easier to re-link in the Pagemaker file, as, with any luck, you can get the filenames from the Graphics Manager.  After conversion to InDesign, any out-of-date linked images get their names converted to something like "image 123.jpg", and are themselves converted to an embedded low res representation of the image.  Even vectored art.  Pretty hard to figure them out, unless you are VERY familiar with the file, which you may be.
It may be that any cropping gets lost, too?  I do prepress work, we do some set up for our customers, but most comes in pretty much ready to go, so I don't often have to did too deep into fixing such issues. On the other hand, any problem that can happen has probably crossed my desk, or it seems that way some days!

  • Anyone had problems running the debug version of InDesign CS6 Server

    Hi Folks,
A number of developers at my firm have tried using the debug version of InDesign Server CS6, but find they cannot run it with the following error:
ERROR [server] Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit.
In each case the installer ran correctly and a valid serial number for debug CS6 used (from the Adobe Partners site).
We have no problems with the release version of CS6 server, or CS5/CS5.5 debug/release versions.
Has anyone suffered the same problem?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Ian,
I had a look and although there was one post suggesting a similar problem, the answer didn't work or was not applicable for the debug version. However I do have an answer - I used a release serial number and it now starts up normally!
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Using InDesign CS6 SDK with MFC

Has anybody been developing InDesign plugins that use MFC? I would have to use a bunch of functions that rely heavily on MFC. The problem is that now both MFC and InDesign CS6 API want to declare their own CString, ICommand and DLLmain and it creates quite major conflicts. I'm just curious if there is a proven way to prevent these conflicts.

    Hi,
yes, we've done so relatively successfully but "ne'er the twain shall meet"!
We've encapsulated all access to MFC in a separate DLL.
As per normal with an MFC based DLL you have to restore access to the MFC module globals
    using
            AFX_MANAGE_STATE( AfxGetStaticModuleState() );
I don't think there's any other "magic" that you need to take account of.
    Good luck
