Creating hyperlinks in a pdf from Framemaker

Hello
Really simple question; when you create a pdf from FM, can you convert the cross-ref's to hyperlinks in the pdf?
Thanks.

Error,
ALWAYS SELECT this option.
Links:
[X] Create Named Destinations for All Paragraphs
Ok, why?
Not sure, but this has been the best practices for at least the last 4 or 5 years. Maybe it has nothing to do with hyperlinks. Maybe its necessity has been removed with FrameMaker 10. Maybe those more knowledgeable will chime in. I always select it.
Bowen,
"This selected PDF Job Option does not exist in the current installation.
Either create this Job Option of select an available Job Option.
Continue?"
I believe this is referring to the selected PDF job options on the Settings tab of the PDF Options. It is saying that the select job option is not on the computer. This typically happens to me when a file has been PDFed on one computer and then opened and PDFed on another computer. The first computer HAS the job option and the second one does not.
If I carry on, the pdf does not generate a hyperlinks.
I do not know why the job option should affect the existence of hyperlinks. Again, I always select this option and clear the Generate Tagged PDF option, and I always get hyperlinked cross-references in the PDF.

  • Unable to generae pdf from Framemaker

    Hi All,
I am experincing some error while  generating pdf from Framemaker 10. The generated pdf is not displaying the content in all the pages and even most of the tables are also appearing blank. Does anyone know what is the error behind this? Please help.
    Thanks,

    Hi Radhika,
Try creating a PDF file using file/print. Although this is unexpected behavior for Framemaker (sorry) - you should contact Adobe Support.
    Kindest regards, Stacy

  • I am trying to create a print ready PDF from a word file with unacceptable results.

I am trying to create a print ready PDF from a word file with unacceptable results.
The word file has a trim size of 6” x 9”. It has been set to mirror margins with the inner, top and bottom margins set to 0.75”, the outer margin is set to 0.5” and the gutter to 0.14”.
It doesn’t matter if I create the PDF from inside Word, or open Acrobat Pro 11.0.9 and click Create From File, while the resulting document size is correct and the odd numbered pages reflect the correct margins, the even numbered pages do not. This results in some text near the outer margin, as well as the page numbers being omitted.
Does anyone know how to correct this?
I just noticed that some of the odd numbered pages' text is also cropped. Apparently Acrobat is refusing to set side margins to smaller than 1" (@ 3cm).

I'm away from my printer, so I'll try it later. Even so, the proposed test is irrelevant. I operate a small publishing house and am trying to upload certain novels to Ingram, the largest book distributor in the world. The specifications I've set are the specifications they've asked for. Since they've said that the results I'm obtaining are unacceptable, and since they demand submission in PDF form, this renders Acrobat Pro for Mac completely unacceptable for anyone in the publication industry. As far as I can tell, Adobe has a serious bug here that it needs to fix—and at once.

  • How to create a 4 page pdf from images - each page should open at same size

How do I create a 4 page pdf (from 4 images - all the same size) that opens each page at  full page size?
    Thank you so much.
    Ginger
    PREVIOUS MSG:
My goal is to create multi page pdfs that are created from images (scans of old brochures).  I receive images (scans of pages) all at the same size.
I have been able to create the 4 pdfs (each opens at full page size) and merge into 1 pdf.  When I open that final pdf, I  see a column of 4 pages, page 1 image being larger than the remaining 3. When I  click on the left, page 1, icon,  I get the full page.  When I click on icons for pages 2 - 4, I get nothing.  The only way I can get the other pages in a full page view is to adjust the scaling after left icon is selected.  That is not what I want.
    How I created the files.
I can either create pdf pages using Photoshop, or using Acrobat Pro itself through:
File> Create PDF> From File and adding each of the images.  I then, for each, choose Properties> Initial View> Fit Page> Save. Then I use File> Combine> Merge Files into Single PDF> Save.
Then I open the multi page pdf.
    I appreciate any help.
    Thank you,

It seems to me what you want to do is create one document which a combination of all four  and then one page of each.
To create a Document with 4 pages combined in to one PDF.  open the first in a Series the to Edit menu and click on add pages click on next document (browse to document first) the choose attach to to end of document or add to  end of document. Repeat until you get all images added. They will end up (or should ) center in center of their own page. Save this document with a new name for now.
Next go back to Photo shop and reduce size of images to fit desired sheet of paper (8-1/2 by 11, 8-1/2 by 14, whatever) place them side by side and row by row so you have 4 images on one page.
    now save as Pdf.
now decide which you want to swap to the Thumbnails (the 4 on one page, or 4 individual pages.  I would use the thumbnails and make each a button that references the page in the document you save as a 4 page pdf that applies.
Then on that page write a line saying click each illustration to see full size image (you might have to write this line while in Photoshop) then save this as PDF file
Try out. You might have to use some javascript controls to do this. But I am not experienced in JavaScript to do this. I'm sure it cane be done.
But note you will have to save both documents with the Thumbnails and the four page and Thumbnail page in a folder and send to prospect
If you want just four separate pages in one Pdf just do first two paragraphs above

How do I create. A single PDF from multiple files? PDF pack on iOS
The primary reason I signed up for. PDF Pack was to create a single PDF from multiple image files and other PDFs .
Is this possible? If so how
    thanks in advance
    rich

    Hi Rich,
The combine files feature isn't available when you're using Reader for iOS. However, you can log on to the web interface at Adobe Acrobat.com using your Adobe ID and credentials, and use the Combine Files feature there.
Please let us know if you need further assistance.

  • Can I use Automator to create a multi-page PDF from a selection of images?

Well can I? I have looked at Preview extensively but found no option to create a multi-page document from all open images. I can create single-page PDF's easily, but that's not what I want.
Does it make a difference if they are TIFF, JPEG, etc?

    Take a look at
    PDFLab
It will create a multi – page .pdf from a folder of .jpgs. I am ** guessing ** it will work with .tiffs.
    No Alibi.

And also it is not showing any error on console
It goes to hang like situation and i have to close it from task maneger.

Ok, silly question - why are you bothering to try and create PDFs from RH when you've got FM? FM to PDF produces great results; RH to PDF involves having to go through Word - i.e. RH - Word - PDF = too much work IMHO.

  • How to save edit settings under preferrences to use when creating or printing a PDF from word 2003 Windows PC 8.1

I have tried to save my PDF settings after editing them, but when I go to "Print" to PDF and check the settings I keep getting Standard default settings.
There is no Adobe PDF listed as a file heading to change conversion settings on my Word screen.
I have tried to create a PDF by open file through the Adobe application and also by trying to print through the Word application with document open and using Adobe PDF as the printer driver.I have changed or edited the settings but they do not appear as an option to select, just the standard default settings.
I have been able to save my setting as a Adobe PDF job options, but can't access them or use them when it comes time to convert to PDF.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have apprached it 3 different ways:
    - by opening acrobat and going to preferrences, clining on  convert to PDf
    - Microsoft Word, then changes each section of the edit settings, ie
general, fonts, images, etc make the cahneges then hit OK, at this point I
get a save as option rather than a save. It saves my changes as a PDF, but I
am not able to access it when I go to make the PDF.
    - I also have tried to print PDF from Word  and got to properties to make
the changs with the same results as above.
    - Then I tried yur suggestion and went to the printer in the control panel
    and had the same results.
I am using mircosoft word 2003 which has been compatable with my windows 8.1
I think the problem may be I am using a "trial" version of Adobe Acrotbat DC

shouldnot be if they want me to really experience the full effects of the
    program.

  • How to create a multi-page PDF from a password protected website?

Is there an automated way to create a PDF containing multiple levels of pages from a website that requires login with username & password? I've tried the 'Create PDF from web page' function but get an authentication error every time. Even tried adding the username & password to the URL (http://username:[email protected]...), to no avail. I really don't want to PDF each page individually and then manually merge them into one PDF. Any ideas?
I'm using Acrobat Pro X on Windows 7.

Unless Adobe changed something recently in the way this function of Acrobat
    works, it's not possible.

  • Can't create a multiple file PDF from PDF forms created in Designer

    Hi
I want to create a single PDF which combines 6 pdf forms created in Adobe Designer (all as separate pages).
When I try to create a single PDF from these multiple files using the "Create a PDF from Multiple files" command, my A-3D won't let me do this returning a dialog box saying
"The file "filename.pdf" is protected. It cannot be used for this command".
I can't find any properties that control this, either in the original file or in A-3D. Can I overcome this and how?
    Many thanks in anticipation.
    Phil

Designer-created files aren't really PDF files any more and cannot be
edited or combined in Acrobat (including Acrobat 3D). You CAN make a
package of them, however, in Combine Files.

  • How to create black and white pdfs from autocad drawing

I am trying to create a pdf from autocad drawing with searchable text.  Using the default acad pdf driver, it will create searchable text for only TT fonts with width set to 1.0.  We use the monochrome plot settings so pdfs are all black, even if drawing was in color.
Using 'create pdf' from Acrobat Pro, Acrobat pro will create a pdf from the autocad drawing easily with all text searchable, shape fonts, TT fonts, no matter what the width.  Fantastic.  However, there is no option that I can see to create the pdf in just black and white.  It creates the pdf in drawings original colors.  How do I create a black and white pdf using acrobat pro?  Thanks.

    @gordon15
The only way to change the color of the printouts from your iPhone is through HP's free mobile app "HP ePrint Home&Biz". This is available in the App Store.
Simply download and install the app, choose a file to print from within the app, then press the icon at the bottom right of the screen that is a wrench and printer. This should then give you the option to choose the color output. Make your selection, press "Done", then press "Print."
If you are not seeing this option, you may need to setup ePrint for the printer and then register the app. This registration will also give you more functionality with the app.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP.

  • Creating a correctly separated PDF from Illustrator in Acrobat Reader 7,8,9

I work in an organisation with users having various versions of Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader.
We need to create a PDF from Illustrator, I guess by using 'save as', that can be correctly displayed in Acrobat 7 onwards.
A flattened PDF views correctly in all versions, but doesn't allow some users to view separations as it converts to CMYK.
My understanding is that PDF-X could ensure overprint is on, so the PDF will display correctly.  But, for versions 7 and 8 overprint preview will need to be activated in order for the PDF to be correctly displayed.
Does anyone know of another solution, in that we could create a PDF, correctly separated and viewable in Acrobat Reader 7, 8, 9.
    Thanks

Why are your Reader users using different versions? It's a free download. Get them all on the current version.

  • How do I create a 300 dpi PDF from a Word 2003 file?

I need to convert a Word (2003) file to a High-res PDF file for the printers. They have requested 300 dpi.
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (trial version).
The file contains a number of pictures in jpg format. Most of these are pretty high resolution. The document printed in Word on a laser printer looks fine.
I did try saving the file a a PDF file, and that did work, however it was low resolution. There must be some settings I have to change. How do I set things so it will creat a high resolution PDF file?

There is no such thing as resolution of a PDF file. Text and vectors in PDF are preserved and get scaled depending on the device on which PDF is shown.
Images in PDF do have a resolution that you can set when creating PDF. When printing your file from Word:
    After File>Print, select printer properties.
In "ADobe PDF Settings" tab, you will see "Default Settings" - click the Edit button next to it.
In the Images pane, select your desired resolution.

  • What is the best process for creating, opening, editing, etc PDFs from within Visual Studio 2008?

I am the project manager on a web-based application that will need to:
Create, open, edit, save, etc PDFs from within a Visual Studio 2008 web application (Visual Basic).
Populate PDFs from SQL server 2010 database.
Allow users to use PDF editing tools from within the website.
BTW, the application is being written in Visual Basic.
Will the SDK allow us to do this? What licenses do we need to purchase?
Are there 3rd party plugins that make doing these things much faster and simpler?
    Any input is GREATLY appreciated!!!
    Sincerely,
    Mike

I don't think Acrobat, or the Acrobat SDK can help you. Acrobat cannot be run on a server.
