Creating Hyperlinks In Pre-Made Drop Down List Form

Ok, I am new to the whole Acrobat world but there is a pre-made object called "drop down list". When I drag it onto my page I am able to enter the title as well as the items I wish to have appear in the drop down. However, I am unable to simply go to "insert" and select "hyperlink". That option is greyed out. Can someone tell me if there is a simple way to create the hyperlink without writing script and also why I can not simply select the hyperlink option? Any feedback or direction would be much appreciated. Likewise, if there are other programs that would easily allow me to do this I would welcome your comments.

You can't insert hyperlinks into a drop down in Acrobat.
Well, you can, but they will remain as plain text.

How to populate the values in the drop down list form the xml file ?

I want to populate the drop down list values from a seperate xml file called ReferenceData. I created this file, which consists of a mapping entry in the form of ( key,value ) pair. Am mapping this xml file in to form by using rule named as getAppReferenceData.
But the values are not getting populated in the form. And I have a doubt of, where should we keep that xml file? (under which path / folder ).

what would help is if you showed what you do in the rule, either the code or a express trace of the rule.
The other thing you need to know is where you want to get the file from. Yes java can read a file from anywhere on the system but there is a security layer in there which might prevent the file being opened. Have you allowed acces to the file via the security policy settings via java.io.FilePermission?

Drop-down lists Form Calc

Hi,
I am new to Livecycle and am currently updating administration forms to make them interactive. I am having trouble with FormCalc for the expenses form. There are columns for kilometres, rate (drop-down list) and total. Basically I want 'kilometres' x 'rate' to equal 'total'. I can total the kilometres x rate easily if they are both numerical boxes, but once the rate column becomes a drop-down list with three different value options, it will not calculate for me. Do I have to change the formula for drop-down lists?

The issue is the $ sign in the dropdown. By adding the $ sign you are making this a string and not a number. To fix this you can do it in one of two ways. You can remove the dollar sign or you can leave the dolloar sign in plcae and take advantage of how Dropdowns work. You can have a specific value shown (this is the Displayed Value) but then have a completely different value used when asked for the DDList value (this is the data value). So I modified the DDLists to have a different data value (without the $) then modified the command to use the data value for the calculation. I changed the calculation to run on the Calculate event of the Total field. The calculate event will fire when the form loads as well as any time a referenced field in the calculate changes. So when you select a rate the total field will fire automagically!
Oh by the way the data values are set on the binding tab of the DropDown field.

Can a FORM created in ACROBAT contain a drop down LIST that is LINKED to a SQL DATABASE?

We have an electronic Purchase Requisition form that users use to enter requests to our purchasing dept.
One of the FIELDS on the form is a VENDOR name that we would like to LINK to the VENDOR table in the SQL data base of our accounting software. If we have to manually enter the validation table into Acrobat, it will be time consuming and difficult to maintain, because we are constantly adding vendors to the accounting system. Is there a way to do this?

Create a fragment with web service to populate the drop down list

Can any one please advise/suggest on how to create a fragment in LiveCycle Designer ES with web service to populate the drop down list so I can re-use it for another form. I already have a drop down list to populate the data from the web serivice but need some advise on how to create a fragment for this drop down list so I can start to embed it in other forms as well.

Change values of drop down list when other drop-down list value is clicked

I look for my requirement very much but I can't find. I think it must be very simple but I can't do it, please help :
I have to custom added fields. Both of them is made drop-down list by picklist defined in GET_P...methods.
When I click and select a value from the first drop-down list, I want that second drop-down values are fully changed, depend on what I select in the first list. If I select my value and press enter in the first drop down box, I can do my requirement with GET_V...method. But if I don't press enter, the values of second list doesn't change, they remain same. I want exactly that when I click and select a value from first drop-down list, second drop-down list values are automatically change, dependent on what selected. Do I have to define and event?? where and how, please help me..

You must have created the field as a dropdown using the below code in the get_p method.
CASE iv_property.
    WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter~fp_fieldtype.
        rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_picklist.
ENDCASE.
Here you need to add the below lines of code along with the previous code. for the first dropdown value
IF iv_property = if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_server_event.
    rv_value = 'DDLB_CLICK'.
ENDIF.
This would refresh the screen when the user selects any value from the dropdown.

Adding drop-down list in a custom schema

Is it possible to create a field with a drop-down list of items in a Prelude custom schema? Or, perhaps the ability is provided in the styles: (Integer, Real, Text, Boolean) and I am just not selecting or using those properly.
I notice it is done in some Adobe-provided meta tags, like this one named >Script...

Unfortunately it is not currently possible to create an array of items for a given custom metadata field. We do have some feature backlog items in our XMP team to look at making such things possible in the future.

Where is this example spreadsheet? Without seeing it I can only guess at what you are asking.
To make a drop-down list (a pop-up menu in Numbers-speak), format the cell as a pop-up then edit and add to the list of items.
If the example spreadsheet is pulling in a dollar value based on what car you chose in the pop-up, it is probably using LOOKUP or one of the other lookup functions, getting the information from another table (a lookup table). If, instead, these dollar values are what you are choosing in the pop-up, then you need to create a pop-up with these values in it.
The Help menu includes a link to a page where you can download the Numbers Users Manual. It also has a link to the Formulas and Functions guide. Both are useful to new users.

Creating drop-down list for prodname element in metadata causes errors

Due to restrictions beyond our control, we must use absurdly long product names. Therefore I want to use drop-down lists to make it easier for the authors to select a <prodname> in the metadata.
What I did:
1. In metaDecl.eddmod.fm, I created a new attribute and named it prod.
    a. I made it the Choice, and Required.
    b. The Choices currently are just Internal and RTVI for testing purposes. I'll put the absurdly long ones in when I have it working.
    c. I have a Prefix rule of: In all contexts Prefix: Product Name: <$attribute[prod]>
2. I imported metaDecl.eddmod.fm to all of these EDDs:
    In the base EDD folder:
basemap.edd.fm
basetopic.edd.fm
map.eddmod.fm
topic.eddmod.fm
   In the technicalContent EDD folder:
concept.edd.fm
ditabase.edd.fm

What I did next:
1. I removed all elements from the general rule of <prodinfo> with the exception of <prodname>. <prodinfo) is the one that had prodname, vrmlist, (brand|component|featnum|platform|prognum|series) in the general rule. I also did a thorough search to ensure that no other element had this same list of element in the general rule. I couldn't find any.
2. I did the import to the EDDs and templates thing again.
3. I got the same error message again. <sigh />
Question:
Why am I still getting those 2 error messages? They are driving me crazy.

Alex Gorly and Matt Sullivan solved one of my issues above:
Message: Attribute 'prod' is not declared for element 'prodname'
I'm still stumpled on the other one:
Message: Not enough elements to match content model '(prodname,vrmlist,((brand|component|featnum|platform|prognum|series) )*)'
As stated above, I've even removed everything from the general rule of <prodinfo> except prodname and I'm still getting the same error. I've searched everywhere for this general rule and <prodinfo> is the only place I can find it.
What I really want is: (prodname), (vrmlist)?, (brand | component | featnum | platform | prognum | series)*
so that vrmlist is optional.
No matter what I do, unless I include a vrmlist, I get the above message. Currently, our CMS can't handle vrmlist but I don't want to remove it altogether because we may be replacing our CMS.
Help please!

How do I create a drop down list to e-mail a form for signature.

The desired workflow is for
1)      Firefighter 1 to complete the top portion of the Agreement
section, sign in the Firefighter 1 signature field (which locks the top
portion of the Agreement Section), then select Firefighter 2 from the
e-mail drop down list and e-mail the PDF form to Firefighter 2;
2)      Firefighter 2 opens the e-mail and the PDF attachment,
completes the second portion of the Agreement Section, sign in the
Firefighter 2 signature field (which locks the bottom portion of the
Agreement Section), select Lieutenant 1 from the e-mail drop down list
and e-mail the PDF form to Lieutenant 1;
3)      Lieutenant 1 opens the e-mail and the PDF attachment, checks
the approved box, signs the Lieutenant 1 signature field, select
Lieutenant 2 from the e-mail drop down list and e-mail the PDF form to
Lieutenant 2;
4)      Step three continues through Lieutenant 2, Battalion Chief 1
and Battalion Chief 2
5)      Battalion Chief 2 sends the fully completed form back to
Firefighter 1 who copies the completed form to Firefighter 2
Note: if any of the officers disapprove the agreement the disapproved
form is immediately sent back to Firefighter 1

Numbers vocabulary for this feature is a "Pop-up Menu". It's available as a Cell Format, and is set and edited in the Cell Format Inspector.
See "Using a Checkbox, Slider, Stepper, or Pop-Up Menu in Table Cells" starting on page 96 of the Numbers '09 User Guide.
This guide, and the equally useful iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide are available for download through the Help menu in Numbers.

Creating a formula using a alphabetic drop down list?

I am creating a work sheet using formulas and drop down list. I have one drop down list that has a list of name and the second list is a list of letter that correspond to those names. (ex: column "J" on line "4 - 29" there is the letter
"A-Z" and then continues , in column "K" line "4" starts the list of names. In Cell B4 is the drop down list of names in column "K" to choose from, I would like the letter that corresponds to that name automatically

With your sample as shown in the following figure, select range “J4:K29”, and click
FORMULAS-Defined Names-Create from Selection, and check
Right column.
Then, use the enter formula in A4 “=INDIRECT(B4)”.

Creating Drop Down Lists in J2ME

Hello all,
I'm not an experienced programmer, and I fear that the rumours of posting a crie for help only to be set upon by hundreds of blood thirsty 'newbe' hunters may be true, but here goes none the less.
Would love to know if any kind soul has hints on how to create drop down lists in J2ME, for selecting a option which would be able to relate to a database (Table).
At the moment I'm using straight forward TextField entries, which is hardly convenient! :)

Only MIDP 2.0 support drop down list. So if you currently coding in the MIDP 2.0 environment, here are the codings.

Create a drop down list in a cell within a table ?

Is there a way to create a drop down list in a cell within a table ? Like the way it can be done in ms word or excell ? I dont mean an interactive pdf/form. I want to create a table in indesign which has drop down lists other people can use to populate a table quickly.

Not possible. InDesign isn't designed to be form-filling software. At best, it can create fields which can be passed on to a PDF file, which usually further has to be edited in Acrobat Pro.
