Creating images for video

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WSD62F70FB-13A5-476b-ABA1-F586F7BA4708a.htm l

How would this apply to a workflow where I had NTSC pixel aspect ratio JPEG (e.g. 720x480 DV NTSC pixel aspect ratio) pulled from Premiere that I wanted to save as a square-pixel image for a web thumbnail?
By hand, I multiplied 720 by .9091 to get 655 pixels across, so I did Edit -> Image Resize, unchecked Constrain Proportions, then went to View and told it was square pixels, and it looks like that worked and I can finish tweaking things with square pixels.  Is there a way to have Photoshop do the math to figure out the resizing to keep the same image aspect ratio while changing the pixel aspect ratio?

My Mac Pro is not displaying any images for videos or games, it is showing sound and working but nothing else. DVD player is also coming up with an error. I'm not sure why neither is working, it just suddenly happened. I have done nothing different.

    Lao Bo,
yes, you can locate and copy a file from your HD to a USB key using UNIX commands. If you know the exact name of the file which you’re trying to locate, try this:
    find / -iname filename -print
This command will search your entire internal disk for the particular filename. If you know that it’s within a particular user account, then you can save search time with this variation:
    find /Users/username -iname filename -print
Either variation of this command will print all files found which have the given filename. Presuming that you’re able to identify the correct file, you can copy it to a USB key using the command
    cp -p filename_returned_by_find /Volumes/USB_volume
If you’re not sure which volume name your USB key has, this command will show you what the possibilities are:
    ls /Volumes
Please let me know if you have any trouble with these commands.

  • Preview image for videos on flash website. Help!

Hi, I'm not sure if I'm at that right place so sorry if I'm wasting your time by asking this question but I'm having problems with my flash website.
I want the video on my website to show a preview image before the video is played instead of it displaying a blank black frame. I went on component inspector - preview - and selected the frame of the animation that I wanted to be shown. But when I came to uploading my swf and html file the preview image for the video is still black. On component inspector - preview - it says 'To generate a runtime preview image, use the export button and load the image back by writing your own actionscript'. So I exported the image but I haven't got a clue how to write my own actionscript. I've spent hours trying to find help on this but I haven't been successful.
Do you know how I can sort this out? Thank you

Have a look at this tutorial: http://web.archive.org/web/20081012122149/http://www.monkeyflash.com/flash/poster_frame_fo r_flash_video/

  • Any way to change default point where iTunes creates thumbnail for videos?

Is there any way to change the default point in time where iTunes creates its own auto-generated thumbnail previews for videos when you drag them into your Library and view them all using the "Movies" section in the left panel?
So when you look at them all using Cover Flow view, for example.
I know you change the thumbnail for each video after the fact, or even batch-add thumbnail artwork for several videos at once, but that's not what I'm after...
I have a WHOLE LOAD of videos that are non-sensically named (Y1_D1-4, etc.), and I want to import them all into iTunes.
Of course I will also need to change the NAMES of these movies as well.
They are actually TV shows, which illustrates the following point:
What all these "movies" have in common is that their intro sequences are all EXACTLY the same length, before they then show the title of the particular show.
Now, if I could get iTunes to use this point in time as it's setting for creating default thumbnails, that would help me in two ways:
Firstly, it would create the thumbnail that I want, and secondly, it would also show me the title of the show, so I could easily re-name the file there and then, without having to scrub back and forth, to find the name of the show.
    Any clues anyone...?

I'm wondering, is there any way to change this so I don't have to click three times to get to that last point, where the cursor is placed in the filename and ready to edit?
I don't have a direct answer to your question, but you can speed up what you're doing by pressing the "return" key after the first click instead of pausing, then clicking a second time.

  • Creating objects from traced image for video

I want to take the traced star (and maybe the text) to use in a video project. I need to make individual objects that I can fill and animate in AE or Premiere. Is Illustrator the right app to use? And where is a tutorial on how this is done?

    Alex,
The star is made of rather simple parts, and an obvious solution would be to recreate it using some of the Tools in the Rectangle Tool group and possibly the Pen Tool.
For the text, the easiest way would be to use the Type Tool; you may use similar fonts amng the countless ones available, or look for the exact font at sites like
    http://www.identifont.com/

  • Performance advice required - creating images for a scrolling list view on Android

This is a question about how best to manage thumbnail images in an list view style app written in Actionscript 3 for Android.
I am building an app that uses a list view control to show lists of data.  As each list item appears on screen during a scroll through the list I create a thumbnail image to display in the list item cell.
Currently I am embedding the jpg thumbnails in actionscript and using mx.core.bitmapasset to get bitmaps on the fly.  On a live device this is unfortunately slowing things down - the smooth scrolling list jerks every time a new cell appears on screen.
There are probably going to be 500+ thumbnails but a list will only ever have about 150 items in it at any one time, of which only about 6 or 7 are onscreen at the same time.  The list view control is one that I have created myself in actionscript but I am pretty sure the thumbnail creation is the cause of the slowdown.  If I take out thumbnails the scrolling is smooth.  If I reuse the same thumbnail across all cells then scrolling is smooth too.  The component reuses cells as they disappear off one end of the list so there isn't much creation of objects going on.
I am running this in debug so it might be possible that in release things are better (maybe?).
Does anyone have any advice on how best to approach this problem of getting jpg assets available quickly?

    Hi,
I think you can use ContentCache here. See http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/spark/core/ContentCache .html. You need to create an instance of ContentCache and set the contentLoader property of your Bitmap object to this instance. You can control the number of cachedEntries by setting maxCacheEntries. The tutorial by Mihai Corlan http://corlan.org/?p=3106 shows how you can use it. I hope you find it useful.
    Thanks,

  • Cover Flow - preview image for videos and folders

    Hello,
Is there any way to change the still image used as a preview for a video file in Cover Flow in the Finder? I've found that browsing through folders full of video files, it mostly shows me black previews, or previews containing bits of text (opening credits).
It would be useful if I could select a still frame to use as the preview, so that I can actually tell at a glance which video I'm looking at -- the filenames are not particularly useful in this regard. I have all the files tagged for use with spotlight so that I can search them easily, but would still like to be able to find the files visually as well.
Similarly, I have folders full of images. Is it possible to replace the generic folder icon with one of the images contained in that folder, so that I can see which set of photos is in that folder?
I haven't been able to find anything about this, so I'll assume for now it's not possible. Any ideas if this might be a future feature?
    Thanks,
    Johannes.

  • Swap image for video in DW

I want to swap an image with a flash video of the same
dimensions on a page. The reason is that the encoded videos all
have a useles black frame as the poster frame which is not very
descriptive. As I have no access to the original videos to
re-encode and select a useful frame for the video, I suppose a
solution would be to place an image in it's spot and on click, swap
it with the video using js perhaps?

You may be able to achieve what you want using the SetText behavior.
Take a look here - it's rough but it shows it can be done....
    http://murraytestsite.com/mouseoverFlash.html
The div#flashDiv starts with a jpg inside, and when you mouseover, it switches to containing a Flash file that starts from the same frame as the image.
And by the way, please, when you post, use a subject line that is a summary of your question.  Yours is pretty vague.  I will edit it accordingly.

  • How to create rooms for video chat

    Hi
I am working with video conference application.I am new to fms.Does anybody please suggest and guide me how to create different video chat rooms.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas

Regarding scripting there were no changes introduced - in the sense of the framework, SSAS, and the way you build apps (e.g. clocal/cglobal). There were of course some enhacements to the API though, as well as some utility methods e.g. client.getNextID(); But on a global scale no. This book is a must-read for anyone who plans FCS/FMS. U might also regard this title: http://www.amazon.com/Macromedia-Flash-Communication-Server-MX/dp/0735713332/ref=sr_1_4?ie =UTF8&s=books&qid=1276703184&sr=1-4. Although it doesn't present much of new info after u read Proggramming FCS book, but it does offer some insight into aspects not described in any of the resources, like server administration etc. Also note tha the latter title appeared just after the release of FCS.

  • Creating Images for Web, question about settings, etc.

Okay before someone tells me "use the search function or google", let me say this...i already have.
I am looking for a guide or anything to ALL settings and recommendations for photoshop cs4.
I find different examples and such but nothing that is "great" and exactly what I need.
When creating a new file that will be used for the web.  Logo, site graphics, etc. what are the best
settings when creating a new document?  recommended settings for anything from the resolution, color mode
to the "pixel aspect ration" under advanced.
Basically I just need to do this part my self, i am pretty familiar with photoshop but just never took the time to actually know 100% of the best
    settings that i should use.
I just want to be able to create the high quality images i can for my website,
I use .png for the most part {because i need transparency for several items}.
but I notice that alot of times it has that little bit of blurryness to it, i tried messing with the resolution, i tried resize, i tried alot of things.
my BIGGEST frustration and what ultimately led me to come to these forums was the use of the font, no matter what , my font always always always looks a bit blurry.  what can i do to take this effect of blurryness away?
any and all help is appreciate and i give a thanks in advance!

The best setting for the issues you describe is to work on your art in Photoshop at a 100% view and to place in a web page at 100%. Do not try to scale the images with HTML/CSS.

  • Cluess: Want to create soundtrack for video

Here's my goal: I want to download a home movie from DVD and write a musical soundtrack for it. I would also like to download an old silent movie and do the same. Old silents are, I believe, in the public domain and should not risk copyright infringement. In any case, my goal is to be able to practice writing a musical soundtrack for a film. I can find no info on how to proceed? Can I use Garageband? Do I need Logic or Soundtrack Pro? Is there no ay to download video from a DVD into iMovie or iDVD?

If its on a DVD you can use mac the ripper which will rip a copy of the dvds content for you. I did this for my brothers scrubs series so i could watch it without him moaning i got his dvds
so if you have a dvd, u can get it onto your mac and should be able to edit it
