Creating Infocube in APO - RFC between BW & APO is Mandatory..??
Hi,
Does the RFC connection between APO & BW system is required for creating an Active InfoCube in APO System...??
Or Only RFC connection between APO & ECC system is enough..!!
Hi Ramesh,
It depends on your source system. If the source system is not ECC and let us say you want the data to be loaded from a flat file, then you need not have RFC connections setup for creating an active info cube. If you are creating an info cube in APO BW which will get data from external BW, then yes, you need RFC connections between them.

Difference between SAP/APO/DP and the SAP/CRM solution for forecasting
Hi,
Can you please help me identifying the main differences between SAP/APO/DP and the SAP/CRM solution for forecasting? Advantages and disadvantages?
Thanks a lotHi LCD777,
Forecasting at DP & CRM are altogether at different entities. CRM involves webbased data transfer mechanism tool whereas DP is database/livecache driven tool.
In CRM, you dont get optimised solution of forecasting out of it whereas in DP you can get as much as
optimised solution & flexibility as per your requirements.
DP is majorly a forecasting tool where in huge statistical method functionalities are embedded in
whereas CRM is majorly a transactional tool wherein it involves gathering of forecast data and executing it.
Typically, CRM will be integrated with DP containing GATP environment & ECC so that DP will plan for forecast data, ECC system drives sales order data & GATP calls for availability check and finally
the forecast execution& transactions will be controlled by CRM

Difference between BW-APO and BW
Hi,
I would like to know what are the differences between BW-APO and Standard BW? I need to gather the Basic InfoObjects and Info Cubes for Demand Planning(DP)for Sales Data. Please advice what are the BC cubes can be used for DP for Sales Data?
When I execute transaction RSA1 in APO, I get all the features of BW like data modeling, Business content etc. Of course, DP will have many functionalities that won't be available in BW e.g. Planning Book etc.
Second part of the question is why should a customer implement separate BW and a separate APO system when BW features are available in APO? I appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks for your timeHi dear,
the APO Shipment includes an embedded SAP BW which is mostly used for the SAP APO Demand Planning application.
An external SAP BW System integrated with SAP APO can be used as a reporting system if required.
Moreover, it is possible to use BW within the APO for reporting, however it might have some effects on the performance...so, the priority of reporting in the discussed environment has to be clearly defined.
There are several reasons why a customer wants to keep BW and APO as one instance.
One might be the lower investment; another one the reduction of complexity and maintenance.
If this is really the case depends very much on the reporting requirements. Thus it has to be checked how many users would work with the APO-system as BW-users. Since APO is designed and tuned for planning functions it is likely that a parallel tuning for the BW demands will contradict with the earlier made settings.
Two different instances for APO and BW is the recommended approach by SAP.
BW serves as a Data Consolidation and Reporting tool whereas APO is dedicated to specific planning functions. Information necessary for planning can be retrieved from BW using the DATAMART-Interface.
Hope it helps !

Scheduling difference between ECC & APO
We have difference in scheduling result between ECC & APO, in case of parallel sequence operations.Detail information are attached in document. Please revert back how to resolve this issue.
Any suggestion/update from experts
Thanks in Advance,
LalitHi Lalit,
I think that is a misunderstood on how should works together APO and ECC systems.
The SKUs planned by APO should not be rescheduled by ECC system again. There is a logic to respect. The MRP Type X0 for the SKUs planned on APO side is exactly to prevent the rescheduling on ECC side.
The changed or recreated pl.orders (for X0) by ECC system will not be always updated on APO side. In this case SAP will not assume the responsibility of the data consistency between the two systems.
Thanks Marius
Below you have some explanation:
Date changes in SAP R/3 cause SAP APO to carry out a new scheduling run of its own.
SAP recommends that you change dates in SAP APO.
Symptom
In your business process, you expect that APO transfers the dates that were determined in the R/3 System for manufacturing orders using scheduling. However, APO does not transfer these dates. This is because:
If a manufacturing order is integrated between R/3 and APO, APO is
the date/time-dominant system.
The reverse scenario, that the R/3 System sets dates and APO accepts
these dates, is not provided for in the standard system.
Other terms
Date transfer, schedule
variance, operation, phase, production order, process order
Solution
In the standard system, you
cannot guarantee that APO also takes on the dates determined in the R/3 System -

How to extract data from APO to BW(not APO's BW)
Hi, expert.
Now I want to extract data from APO to BW (not APO's), what's the data flow.
1. APO datasource----->BW (not APO's) datasource----->BW (not APO's) infocoube
2.APO datasource----
>BW (APO's) -
>BW (not APO's)
I want to create query on the BW not APO's.
Which one is right? or there is another way?
Thanks in advance.Hi Bruce,
If I understand your question correctly your scenario 1 comes closest to a solution:
1) Create/activate Datasource in APO system and test it using tcode RSA3 (assuming it is SAP APO)
2) Replicate the Datasource in BW + create infopackage which will load the data into PSA
3) Create a DSO (if you like a layered approach) and a Cube on top + a Multiprovider above
4) Connect BW Datasource to DSO and DSO to cube (Transformations + DTPs to load)
5) Create a query on the Multiprovider
Hope this helps.

SMSY - Generated RFC between solution mananger and a satellite system
Hi gurus,
I would like to ask you some things about configuration of SMSY - create systems and their RFC´s between solution manager (SSM) and a satellite system (for instance the DEV system SD3 (in solution manager system)
But my problem is which of these users I must use in each RFC???
Because until this moment I have been doing without knowing very well where I must put that users in those RFC´s!!!!! And I don´t know if I have been doing well!! You understand ?!? :- /
Can somebody give me a simple explanation about this... Which user I have to put (due to the authorizations) in those RFC connections?!
And other thing, if you don´t mind take a look to other question I ask yesterday which is related with this doubt:
Help me please... :- /
Thanks in advance
Best regards,
João DimasHi Joao,
As I understand, the respective RFCs and users are created autmatically when the RFCs are
generated for a satellite system in SMSY.
Furthermore, the Z roles and profiles for each of these users are also created/generated during the
generation procedure. The roles/authorization assigned to each of the generated user are as mentioned
in the below link:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smehp1/helpdata/en/48/647e3ddf01910fe10000000a114084/frameset.htm
The administration/customizor specific authorization objects are also provided. As you mentioned the
above helps understand the roles/authorizations required for specific user with regards to an RFC.
Apart from this, all the actual creation, generation and assignment is done - thanks to the automated
setup in SMSY
Also I suppose the above link should help you decide the auhtorization objects requested by you
in the other thread.
Hope this helps.

Is there a way to create a shared net conn. between Airport and Ethenet?
Is there a way to create a shared internet connection between one airport computer and another via ethernet?
I have one computer (lets call this computer 'A') connected to the net via Airport which connects to a router, which is directly connected to my ADSL line.
However, my other computer (computer 'B') is not located within range of this wireless router.
Is there a way for me to send my internet connection via computer A to computer B, via an Ethernet cable or Airport connection or otherwise?
ADSL---Wireless Router---(Airport)---Computer A---(Ethernet)---Computer BIs there a way for me to send my internet connection via computer A to computer B, via an Ethernet cable or Airport connection or otherwise?
Yes, it's called Internet Sharing, and here's how to set it up...
To setup for Internet Sharing (Wireless to Wired):
Enable Software Firewall (Computer A)
System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall
o Click Stop to start the software firewall
Setup the Network
ADSL Modem > (Ethernet cable) > (Ethernet port) Wireless Internet Router > (wireless) > (AirPort Card) Computer A (Ethernet port) > (Ethernet cable) > (Ethernet port) Computer B
Setup Port Order (Computer A)
System Preferences > Network > Show > Network Port Configurations
o Verify that "AirPort" and "Built-In Ethernet" are enabled.
o Verify that "AirPort" is at the top of the list, followed by "Built-In Ethernet."
o Click "Apply Now."
Configure the Internet Connection (Computer A)
System Preferences > Network > Show > AirPort > TCP/IP
o Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
o Configure IPv6: Automatically or Off
Enable Internet Sharing (Computer A)
System Preferences > Sharing > Internet
o Share your connection from: AirPort
o To computers using: Built-In Ethernet (checked) (Note: Uncheck all other entries in the list.)
o Click Start -
Error while creating import parameters in RFC function module
Hi,
I am trying to create import parameter in RFC enabled function module and getting the following error "Reference parameters are not allowed with RFC". Am I doing something wrong.
Your earlier response is much appreciated
Regards
KasiThere is a "Pass by Value" checkbox, just check that and you wont get the error. The basic reason behind is since an RFC is called by a different system the parameters have to be sent as values than as references.

Creating a master-detail relation between a view and a table
Hi all,
I have a problem with creating a master-detail relation between a database-view with lots of customer data and a small table with per customer a list of entities of our companies who may work for that customer.
Somehow I seem to be unable to create a relation between these two. I can't find where I can make a foreign key using Toplink to implement the relationship. And neither can I get a Viewlink object doing the job using ADF Business Components.
Somebody any suggestions on this problems?
Regards,
BirgitThere is a key relationship between two fields which form the primary key in the main table of the view and two fields in the second table.
I created a viewlink manually, but I still couldn't get the data correct i.e. a form with one record of a customer from the main view and a small table with all entities of our company who can make performances for that customer.
I tried to find a manual or a how-to on this topic but I didn't find anything helpfull yet.
Regards,
Birgit
After a couple more tries, I got the master-detail working. With all the fiddling I am not sure what caused the problem but I think the finally action was checking which fields of the view were marked as primary keys.
Now everthing is up and running.

Regards,
VivekHi,
Creating infocube in 7.0 is almost similar the only difference in 3.5 u have to create update rule & transfer rule in 7.0 DTP is used for transformation.
if u mention the errors u faced while creating infocube then it is easy to find out the solution.
Pls go thru this links,

Regarding Nodes created when creating a model from RFC
Hi All
When we create a model from RFC suppose FlightBook RFC, then node is created one as FlightBook_Input, and one as FlightBook_Output.
Inside flightBook_input we have nodes and value attribute which we use to pass the data and also for output, but i still dont know what flightbook_output signifies and how we can use it
Thanks & Regards
Sandeep>>Inside flightBook_input we have nodes and value attribute which we use to pass >>the data and also for <b>output</b>
How is that? You should always use model class assigned to relation "output" to get RFC FM result. BTW, don`t forget to invalidate it. -
Problem while creating infocube in BI 7
hello,
while loading transaction data from flat file ...i have a problem with infocube creation..i have created datasource sucessfully..iam able to c data in preview also..but while creating infocube iam unable to see my infoobjects in the mibble panel..wat could be the reason ? and also iam unable to activate infocube...hi roja,
Some times the infoobjects even activated and kept in dimensions of the cube they will be inactive and when u are activating the cube will not get actviated.... i hope u can see the inactive infoobjects in the panel after u try to activate the infocube..
try one thing if u can see the inactive infoobjects then remove them and create new infobjects and use them and then try to activate.... i came across the same scenario ....i solved like this ...
as u r saying u already used in the datasource please create new infoobjects which are inactive with a differnet name and change in the datasource(delete the data if present in datasource) and add the new infoobjects in the cube and then activate.....
