Creating Interlocking Rings In Illustrator

Hi guys, can anyone help with the following. I need to make interlocking rings in Illustrator, this should be easy for members on here but I'm a tad rusty now. I've prepared two horizontal ovals with fill of none and white stroke. I then use the appearance palette to add another stroke of red, I've now a got inner thick red - middle thin white - outer thick red oval. I duplicate this and align to place one oval on top of the other but I still need to make the interlocking part.
I can send a PDF attachment of what I've created if necessary.

Just cut one ellipse in half where it does not overlap the others. Then restack.

I'm trying to make interlocking rings (olympic style), but every single time I go to the pathfinder and click "divide", so that I filll in the overlapping areas of the rings with different colors, it ttells me "the filter produced no results, please select one or more filled paths" even though I already selected the three overlapping rings. Im in adobe CS5.

Then clikc-drag across sections you want to unify...

Error message 11556 wehn trying to create a ring tone

Can anyone help me to sort this problem out? I am new to this and cannot create a ring tone from a song that i have purchased. I am logged in to the i tunes store, but i get an error message that says that i can't connect. Several others seem to have posted similar problems but i wondered how i can solve the message and create a ringtone.

I have the exact same problem but have since found in the Itunes help section that you can only create ringtones with songs that have a bell next to them. None of my music has a bell next to it so have been onto Itunes store to seek out a song that has and cant find any.
Help option states to see tunes with a bell, click view, options then tick the ring tones option. This works with songs you have already downloaded but it reckons it works too for Itunes store but it doesnt.
Anyone know how you find out from Itunes store which songs can be created into ringtones?

Creating spot color in Illustrator CS4 js

Hi,
I need to create spot color in Illustrator CS4 with js, with assigned name and color values. Here what I have:

But it comes out as process instead of spot and the color is not assigned.

the add function has no parameters, you have to add them after

No, you can't and it kinda defeats the purpose of Muse altogether. Thats like saying, "Can I use Muse to create vector graphics for designing logos?" Or, even simpler " Can I use this hammer to unscrew this picture hook in my wall?"
Muse would import that AI file as an image only. So, you would have one big picture and no functionality to any buttons, menus etc.
I would suggest that you try downloading the trial version of Muse. If you could/would design a site in AI ( despite it being an unsuitable tool ) you will find Muse just as easy to use. If you are proficiant in Illustrator or InDesign, Muse's interface is very familiar and uses similar techniques.

Creating Reader Spread in Illustrator

i have a quick question to Understand the "Reader-spread", My Client asked to create 12 page Calender for 2015, and they specifically ask me to create a file in illustrator as Reader Spread, i never did that, so i need your Expert help to understand about Reader-spread and Printer Spread,
please and thanks if i can get the example.

As Larry said, a reader spread is just two pages as it would be visible in the final produced booklet (a printer spread is how the printer needs to print to have the pagination be correct after assembly of the book). I'm not sure exactly what they're looking for, but I'd interpret it by creating one artboard to contain both left & right pages, setting up guides for margins, center of spread, etc. Then duplicate this artboard for the rest.
But if all they want in the end is a PDF or EPS file, I'd be tempted to just do it in InDesign and export as such.

Repeated requests to "Sign In" to create a Ring Tone

In trying to create a ring tone in iTunes, I am asked to "Sign in to create ring tones from the iTunes store". I am already signed in, but I type in my password anyway. After clicking the "Sign In" button, I am asked again to sign in. iTunes never accepts my sign in request. I am typing the correct password and don't know what to do.
I went to a local Apple Store, but the "genius" could not help. He said it shouldn't do that and that I should send an eMail to iTunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem and fixed it. I did many things at once, so I am not sure what the correct step(s) was/were. Nevertheless, here they are:
1. Make sure you didn't purchase the song using a different iTunes account. I forgot about an older account that I had. Sign into that account and make sure all your credit card/email data is up to date.
2. De-authorize your computer, reboot the computer, and then restart iTunes and authorize the computer again.
3. Sign into your iTunes account, make sure the info is up to date and that you have agreed to the terms of service. (This seems to get reset when an old account is used and you have since upgraded to a newer iTunes program.)
4. Make sure that the songs you are trying to use were indeed purchased aand not your own ripped music.

It will, but there may be certain changes, which may be profound, especially live Type, depending on the version and thereby how many times the text engine has been changed.

It isn't possible in a ring control, but it is trivial on the menubar.

Creating Animated Gifs in Illustrator?

In PS if you have a layered file, you can create an animated gif via SAVE FOR WEB AND DEVICES.
But it seems you can only create static gifs via SAVE FOR WEB AND DEVICES in Illustrator from layered files.
Please! Say that ain't so - that I'm missing some small detail that will allow me to do this same thing from Illustrator!!!!

Going via PS is tons of extra work. Uneccessary work! What happens is that for some strange reason, the layers come into PS weird. the icon for EACH layer is a folder AND a subfolder. So they have be flattened one by one and THEN turned into frames in the animation layer AND THEN saved as a gif. So what's perplexing me - is seeing the same SAVE FOR WEB AND DEVICE dialog box in Illustratore - yet it only saves static gifs.
Is it really true that i have to go through all these extra steps? Yikes! I wonder why Adobe would do that, and yet go through all the trouble to let you export swf's. It seems so very poorly planned by Adobe that i keep hoping someone will tell me I'm missing something - and that there's a way to do this from Illustrator.

Font issue occurs when creating pdf file from Illustrator CS5.

I have some design files which are created in Illustrator CS5 and I made them as a pdf file using InDesign CS5 while I open the pdf file in Acrobat Pro 9 I have no issue with the file but my client is using Acrobat Pro 7 while they open the pdf file in Acrobat pro 7 junk characters(rectangular boxes) are appearing in it. Can anyone please look in to this and confirm is this a version bug or something else? It would be much appreciated if some give any idea to get rid of this issue.

Aside from the PDF version, but to follow-up to what David is getting at, you are likelythe fonts are not embedding. Because they reside on your system you see the PDF as it should be. Your client likely does not have the fonts installed.
Make sure your ID export of the document is including the fonts. If that still does not work, check to make certain the fonts you are using allow them to be embedded.
If all else fails, seeing how this PDF is for client review (I assume) have the PDF settings set to convert type to outlines. This gets you past the current dilemma as you figure out the cause.
