Creating item category in WebTools CRM 2007

I am new to Webtools CRM 2007. I need some help in creating catgeories so my users can create quotes and orders. However, I am receiving an error message stating I need a part category first. When I lok at my Bulk operations in the category section, there are no values in the drop down. How do I populate this drop down? Thanks.

Hi James
You have to options, first synch your items Group from SAP, second you can create a new category in WebTools. Please login as manager go to my account -> administrations -> catalog ->catalogs right click on your catalog and ad new cartegory

1. Item Category :
You define the item categories for business transactions.Like transaction types, an item category is assigned to one or more business transaction categories
An item category specifies the properties and attributes of a business transaction item, and therefore controls how the item is processed
First, you assign the item category to an item object type. The item object type defines the business context in which an item category is used.
ExampleBUS200140- CRM Service Product Item.
2. Item Category Group
With the help of the item category group, you review the various products from a business view for item category determination. Enter the item category group for each product in the product master.(T Code COMMPR01)
During business transaction processing, the system creates the item category from the item category group for the product, and from the business transaction category, and proposes it in the document.
You can assign item categories to business transaction types and item category groups in the process Maintain item category determination.
3.Item Categories Usages
The item category usage is generally used for items that do not refer to a product (for example, Free Items, text items).
The item category usage is assigned to the respective transaction types when the item category is determined. When processing documents, the system determines the item category from the transaction type and item category group or the item category usage and proposes it in the document.

Pls use following FM to get the item category group.
CMS_PRODUCT_SALES_READ_BL
Input for Product ID: IV_PRODUCT_ID (It takes value of Product ID)
Output for item category group:
CRMT_PRODUCT_SALES_API_EXP-ITEM_CAT_GROUP

Hi buddies,
i want to map complaints and returns on the web client for the this business process .
if customer purchases a product snd if not satisfied with the product,he calls to the call center.Call Center Executive creates a complaint and assign it to a service executive. he goes and finds that the it is a quality defect.he forwards this problem to the Quality Management department.If they finds that it is a quality defect then tells to return the product against which a new product has to be issues.
we have make this in a close lope between R/3 & CRM.
Now my doubts are--
     1-How will we maintain the stock update?
     2-How will we maintain that the subsittute product delivery should be free of cost
        as customer has already paid for the goods?
If possible then tell me the customization steps as well

Please note that the table of item categories is an SAP system table.
Its content must not be changed by customers.
Even in change mode, you can only display the characteristics of the item categories

Limit SC creates item category as 0 (blank) but PO not created indeed

I create limit sc to get limit PO in the ECC..
error net price is greater than zero while creating purchase order .
Shopping cart item_type = LIMI SHOULD determine the item category in the backend?
How can i find out who is making item category = 0 in BAPI create PO .

Hi all,
I u2018m getting an error item category group not exist in CRM that item category group is in R/3
So my question is weather I have to create that item category group in CRM or I have to download that one from r/3.
If I create in CRM how to link the R/3 item category group to CRM one.

There is definitely no exchange of neither transaction types nor item categories between an erp and a crm system. Also the dependent object like the organisational data profile or the partner profile are not exchanged.
Instead for those transactions that are exchanged you need to do the customizing the same way in both systems, ERP and CRM.

Hi Rohit,
1- Use T code- PPOMA_CRM and select your Organizational Unit
2-Hope you would have assigned a Position
3- Assign the User to the Position.
By default it will take the Business Role Assigned to Position for the assigned user.
If you want to assign a role double click on the position>Goto>Detailed Object-->clik on Enhanced object description.
from the Infotype select Business Role > click on create> assignh Business Role ( e.g. SALESPRO,MARKETPRO,OR Z****)

Eg: R/3 has maintained item category ZTAN , I need to download this entry to CRM by using Middleware adaptor object.Same for the item category group also.

No item category for service products

Hi,
we download service master (ta ac03) from R/3 to CRM via middleware. These products are stored in CRM as service products without item category group.
How to use these products in service transactions? I want to determine automatically an item category, but without item category group, I cannot maintain a correct determination...

Hi Jochen,
It is because Item Category Group which is present in R/3 is not present in CRM( e.g DIEN item category group for Service without delivery is not present in CRM and needed to be created).
Thus please create the same item category group in CRM.
SPRO Path:
Customer Relationship Management>Transactions>Basic Settings-->Define Item Category Group
Save it.
Download the product again.

Hi Prabhu,
Suppose customer specific (Y & Z) Transaction/Sales-Document types and customer specific item categories are created in CRM or ECC. These cannot be downloaded via any(initial, delta n synchronization) of the downloads. We have to do this manually as there is no standard adapter object available for these.
So as the item category determination. It should be done manually.
In ECC Item category determination, we need sales document type (say ZOR) and item category (say ZTAN). These will not be replicated or downloaded to CRM.
So we need to create them manually in CRM and also the item category determination should be done manually.
If any sales-document-type / Transaction-Type or item category is created newly in ECC/CRM in production environment, item category determination should be done manually in ECC and CRM for those newly created ones after creating them in CRM and ECC.

hi,
I tried to perform the "define item category determination" activity, but the problem is that the possible entries for "Item category groups" and "Item usage" are different in the two systems:
for example in R/3 I find some entries with Item Category group = LEIH (returnable packaging),
when i try to insert this Item category group in CRM i press f4 to see possible entries but Ican't find the value LEIH.
how is it possible?
