Creating item in shared calendar- it disappears when syncs with icloud!

This has been going on for weeks.  When I create a new event on a shared calendar, the edit window closes and I see my appointment listed correctly.  A few moments later, as the "updating..." line appears at the top of the screen, the event's title and time disappears and it reverts to my default calendar at a random time during the day (same date).  I could create 10 events and the moment it tries to sync to iCloud, they are all GONE!  Anyone else notice this from a shared calendar?  FWIW- it doesn't do this when I schedule directly on icloud.com, but I find the interface to be a pain in the neck to use regularly.  All suggestions welcome.
Thanks!

To change your iCloud ID you have to delete the account, then sign in with the alternate ID.  Before doing this, if you want to keep your data and move it to the new account, go to Settings>iCloud and turn each of your synced data to Off, and when prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone.  When everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account, the sign back in with your other account ID and turn syncing back on; when prompted, choose merge.
If all your data is already in your other account then you don't need to do this.  Just delete the account from your phone, selected not to keep the data, then sign into the new account, turn on data syncing and if prompted, choose merge.

  • My iMac and MacBook Calendar will no longer sync with iCloud.  I don't understand why?

All of the sudden about 10 days ago, I noticed that when I asked to refresh my calendar, that it just hangs on both my iMac and my MacBook.  And neither are syncing with iCloud calendar.  I'm not certain if my iphone calendar is synching or not because nothing is getting transferred to my iMac or MacBook.
The system status says all is OK.  My iCloud is still turned on for both computers.  So I'm not sure what to do next.

Yes.  iCloud on the web is correct although the latest stuff I added to my MacBook is not showing up because it won't sync.
In System Preferences iCloud is selected and they are turned on on both machines as always.
There are no other calendars linked to iCal.  I just have a Home, Work, and Birthday and US Holidays all linked in.
I did try something on my MacBook that seemed to work.  I went into System Preferences and turned off Calendars and Reminders in the iCloud setting.  That prompted a message that all of the iCloud iCal data would be removed from the computer.  I made sure the web version was accurate before I did this.  Then I shut down my computer and restarted.  When I restarted I went back into System Preferences and turned on Calendars and Reminders and now it seems to be working.
I'm about to try the same thing on my iMac.
If this works both times, my question then would be what would cause both my iMac and MacBook to disconnect as it seems from iCloud when I hadn't changed anything at all.

  • Recovery of Calendar data lost when Merging with iCloud

I Was wondering if anyone could help.
Basically, I have somehow managed to wipe ALL the entries from my partners iPhone 5c calendar when turning calendars on for iCloud. When prompted I pressed the merge calendars button and then everything disappeared. I turned iCloud calendars off again and the calendar which was called something like "on my iphone" has disappeared.
I downloaded some 3rd party software which scanned the phone and found the calendar entries, but to restore them would cost my £55 for the full version of the software. Is there a way to access this data and restore it without spending this sort of money?
Just to complicate matters, a backup of her phone hasn't been done since the start of june, roughly 7 weeks ago. I'm concerned that if I restore from that backup she'll lose contacts she's added since there along with saves and other updates she's made to apps on her phone, which will put me in even more trouble than I'm in already. I'm guessing the phone hasn't been synced with iTunes since this backup was made, although I have transferred recent purchases.
So, is there a way to recover the calendar data that has disappeared without losing anything else?
    Thanks for for your help

    Hi
No I hadn't created a Calendar Archive before this mishap (I will now), and I thought it would be covered by the Time Machine Backup.   I was activating my iCloud drive for the first time and I think that it was doing this that somehow lost the calendar data. Previously the Calendar data was on the Mac hard drive.
I have now managed to get the old calendar back, but I don't quite know how.
The links to calendar backup in your reply led me to tinker more with the Time Machine, and the data on the My Passport drive directly. I could not see the any calendar directly in Finder or Time Machine, but a Finder search on My Passport's latest backup showed various calendar stuff, including .ics files, in [users/myname/library] which were hidden.
I either restored one of these, or imported one via Calendar. I tried both, but neither seemed to work at the time. However, I reopened Calendar a some time later and found that the “lost” calendar had returned.
I couldn't find a way of revealing hidden files in the preferences, and I think that the library containing the Calendar files must be hidden because I could only see them via “search”.
Anyway, all's well that ends well, but I wish that I really knew how I fixed it. Thanks for your help.

  • How do I change my apple id on iPhone4 in iCloud?  In mail, contacts the apple id is correct and matches my new apple id.  I had to change my apple id when I upgraded to Mountain Lion in order to have calendar, contacts and other sync with iCloud.

How do I change my apple id on iPhone4 in settings/iCloud and settings/mail,contacts,calendar?  iCloud does not sync with my iPhone4.   iCloud syncs fine with my iPad and my iPad has the new apple id in settings/iCloud.  I had to change my original apple id when I upgraded to Mountain Lion in order to have iCloud sync.  iCloud does not sync with my iPhone4.  My iPhone4 settings/iCloud shows my original apple id and will not allow me to change it.

  • Purchased app on iPhone - disappeared when synced with itunes

I purchased an app on my phone a couple weeks ago. Today I synced with iTunes on my PC and the app disappeared from my phone and does not appear in the list of apps in iTunes. "Check for available downloads" in iTunes said that I had no available downloads. The purchase of the app did show up in my purchase history, but that seemed to be the only place.
I was able to get the app back by attempting to purchase it again, at which point iTunes allowed me to download it again for free. However, all of the application data is still gone. And since I synced more than once in this process, the initial iPhone backup (which should have contained all that was lost) has now been overwritten.
This has happened to me several times before, but this is the first time where the application data has been important.
Any ideas as to what went wrong?
Is there any hope for me to recover my application data at this point?
Any way for me to prevent this happening again? (short of never syncing...)

I doubt very much that you can recover the data at this point. The safe way to do things (I found for me at least) is download apps initially via iTunes instead of your phone, then mark them for syncing and do the normal sync. I purchased all of my apps this way and sync several times a week with no problem. I also do all the app updates thru iTunes.

  • How can I choose individual playlists and/or songs when syncing with iCloud?

It was pretty intuitive before iCloud, when I was only syncing (wired via USB) with iTunes on my MacBook Pro.
I would select my iPhone's name in the left-hand column of iTunes, and then select the category of what I wanted to sync.  From there, I could pick particular playlists, songs, TV shows, movies, podcasts, photo folders, etc. to synchronize to my device.  I felt that I had complete control over every single thing that synced to my iPhone.  Very Cool!
When I made the decision to automatically backup wirelessly (Wi-Fi) on iCloud, there was a notice that my iPhone would no longer sync with iTunes.  Now, I find that there is no longer any way that I can make choices of what is backed up and/or transferred to my iPhone.  All I can find is broad categories of whether to sync ALL music, ALL videos, ALL photos, etc.  How can I regain the freedom to choose precisely what is synced to my iPhone?
I'm assuming that every time I want to make a change (even adding a single music video) to on my phone, I need to do all of the following:
    1. Go to "Settings".
    2. Click "iCloud".
    3. Scroll to bottom og the page.
    4. Click "Storage & Backup".
    5. Turn off iCloud Backup.
    6. Connect to iTunes on computer with USB cable.
    7. Make desired syncing changes, etc.
    8. Disconnect cable
    9. Turn iCloud Backup back on., etc.
This surely doesn't meet Steve Jobs' simplicity definition of being "able to do anything with 3 clicks or less."
I don't see this addressed anywhere in Apple's documentation.  It would be helpful if they at least had a list of what is backed =up in each place, and how people should manage backing up their devices on each.
Are the two methods of backup mutually exclusive? Or, should they be complimentary? (With all of the extra keystrokes?)
Is there any meaningful difference between syncing with iTunes via USB or wirelessly?
Will iTunes in the Cloud simplify the backup and restore process?  Or make it even more complicated?

Ever since iTunes 11, that capability is not there.  The Popularity displays in a column, but you cannot sort on it.

  • Calendar on iPhone not syncing with iCloud

The calendar on my iPhone experiences scrambled dates, multiple entries for the same event and does not show iCloud as a calendar in the list of calendars, only my old @me.com calendar. Calendar and iCloud work fine on my Mac & iPad, just not my phone. Any suggestions? CD

You need to delete the old me.com calendar account, and ensure that Calendar is switched on in the iCloud account settings on your iPhone.

  • Purchased ringtone disappeared when syncing with iTunes

I purchased a ringtone using iTunes store on my iPhone and was able to enjoy it for a day before I synced the iPhone with iTunes on my computer. A Window appeared stating "[the ringtone] was not copied to iPhone because you are not authorized to play it on this computer". So now the ringtone is visible in iTunes, but it disappeared from the iPhone... and it annoys me because I paid for the ringtone...!
My question is: how do I get the ringtone back on my iPhone?!

I had done all of that to no avail.  I did call Apple Tech Support and after he suggested I try a USB port in the rear of the Win 7 computer, things starting working again.  I had tried switching the USB port at the front of the machine but that had not helped.  Everything is good to go again.  thanks for  your reply

  • Calendar events are all 3 hours off when syncing with iCloud

    Good morning,
I've noticed other users wtih the same issue, but the previously proposed solutions have not worked for me.
    Problem:
    1. Adding event X at 3pm on iCloud >> event X is scheduled at 6pm on iPhone.
    2. Adding event Y at noon on iPhone >> event Y is scheduled at 9am on iCloud.
Previously tried and failed solution: set all time zones to EST.
    Fail.
I've set the time zone in the following locations:
    1. Date & Time on my MBP.
    2. Turned on time zone support in iCal on my MBP.
    3. Turned on time zone support on iCloud.
    4. Time zone set automatically under General >> Date & Time on iPhone. (It's the right one.)
    5. Turned on time zone support under General >> Mail, Contacts, Calendars. (It's the right one.)
I'm having the same problem on both my iPhone and my iCal on my MBP.
    Any advice?

Could you please share the fix you found. I have been dealing with this for over a month now and it's driving me crazy! Please let me know what you did or where to find the info. Thanks!

  • Trouble syncing calendar from iCloud!   I have the iPhone 4 and have been using the calendar and it is synced with icloud - at least it tells me it is.  I just an iPad 3rd gen and everything synced except for the calendar.

    HELP!

A couple of things to check:
in the Calendar app, tap on the calendars button (top left) and make sure the iCloud calendars are selected for display.
Open the settings app, select "iCloud" and make sure Calendar is turned on.

I created an album on the iPhone but when sync'ed to the mac, the album disappears.  Is there a way to share albums created in iphoto on the iphone with the iphoto on the mac?

Is there a way to share albums created in iphoto on the iphone with the iphoto on the mac?
No, there is not yet a way to do that. Albums created on the iPhone cannot be synced back to the mac.
You might try other ways to send photos back to the mac in a structured way, depending on your IOS version:
You could use Journals instead of albums. If you share a Journal, you can see it on your Mac.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3152
Or create shared photo streams.  iCloud: Using and troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams

  • My shared calendars have disappeared

    My shared calendars have disappeared.

iMac 27" i7, Mac OS X (10.6.6)    <  hopefully your profile is just outdated.  iCloud requirements are for v10.7.4 or later
    Try resetting ...
On iOS devices tap Settings > ICloud
Switch Calendars off then back on.
On your Mac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deslect the box next to Calendars then reselect it.
Give iCloud a minute or two to re sync the data.

  • Since I created an iCloud email account, nothing on my ipad2 syncs with iCloud on my PC and all of my prior information has disappeared from my gmail, notes, calendar, etc. Any ideas?

Why is it that since I created an iCloud email account (my default email client is gmail), nothing on my iPad2 syncs with iCloud on my PC? Also, all prior content in Notes, Contacts, Mail, Calendar, etc. has disappeared.

Okay, I see from the control panel for iCloud in Explorer that now I have to use Outlook as my mail client for Calendar, Mail and Notes. Why? Gmail is my client and everything used to work fine until I had to get that @icloud.com account.
Also, I see I have to use Explorer as my browser if I want to sync Bookmarks. What's wrong with Firefox?
Outlook is the only supported Mail/Contacts and Calendars client on a PC.
And once more, Gmail has no connection with iCloud, you can continu using Gmail on the web or in Mail
Why not say what you expect to happen and I'll tell you if it will.

  • Why does my outlook keep creating modgroups when syncing with ipad?

Why does my outlook 2007 keep creating modgroups when syncing with my ipad 2. If also takes very long for the two to sync.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

When I receive appointments by email and accept them they go into the enourage "on my mac" ical calendar which is not synced with mobileme.  How do I change where appointments are put ?
Or how can I choose where the appointment is put ?
I use the mobileme sync services so the ical calendars that are synced are those in the "[email protected]" group.
    Please help !
    Nick

Actually you can't drag the appointment to ano calendar - its says "You can’t make changes to this invitation., Only the organiser can change this event"
Also if you double click on the received appointment and open the window the only calendars shown that you can select are the 'on my mac" ones, and not the sync'd ones.
    Any ideas welcome !!
