Creating larger Photo Books are $$$$$$$!!!!

Kinda disappointing - had a discussion with the printing group who produce the photo books through iPhoto. I have used them before and LOVE the product and final book. However - NO discounts for large orders. I have created a large hard cover book for my hiking club and EVERYONE wnats one. When I tell them it will be $170 per book - they say NO THANKS. I have a 94 page hard cover book. On BLURB.COM it would cost me half. However, I am a dedicated APPLE guy and have no desire to stray. But for HALF the price - it may happen. Any thoughts out there. Is there anyone else that can compete with the ease, style and quyality of an Apple Book???

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - select the book and type Command-D. That should create a duplicate of the original book.
2 - open the copy and change the cover from hard to soft. You'll get a warning that you could lose the text but many times I've not. It's worth a try. If it works you're home free.

At the bottom of the photo tray at the right click on the Clear Placed Photos button. This will remove the photos from the pages but not from the book.

.Issue with creating a photo book in Iphoto error message states some frames are missing images, but I've checked each one and from I can see they are all filled in. It won't let my buy the book though

I've checked this many times and cannot locate the issue. The book appears to be complete from my perspective. What can I do now? I worked very hard on this and would hate to lose it all.

"your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can buy this book."
The most common reason for this error is, that you have used a page layout that needs a background photo and you have not yet added the backdrop. Then the book is still showing some default grayscale image.
Check, if one of your page layouts is using this background:
Then you need to add a photo to the background of the page.

How does one create a photo book of a custom size? Only option available is 11x 8.5 inches

Aha. You can't have two different page sizes in one single document.
You are right, you could do it with three separate documents, and 'glue' them together using a Book document. It's far easier to place a blank placeholder page in your actual document, and create a new doc just for the oversized page.
When the time comes to produce a final file (hopefully, a PDF), you can leave it as is -- two separate documents --, or use Acrobat to stitch the larger page into the main document (at the request of your printer).

-- the only solution I have seen is to put them in an album sorted the way you and and then use the batch cnage command to redate them with a small invrement between so a data sort matches your desired sort -- I personally do not want to redate a bunch of my photos nor do i want to have to go through and un-re- date a bunch
suggest a change to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

I've created a photo book in iPhoto on my iPad. When I go to order it, it says that "Your Book contains Empty Photo Frames" but when I check each page, they all have photos. How to I order the book?

When creating a photo book, how can one import photos older than 12 months?

I am trying to create a photo book (I'm using iPhoto 11). For my project, I'm trying to access photos older than 12 months, but that is not an option in the photo library at the right of the screen.
I have tried to click and drag the old photos into my project event. They show up fine in "photos" but do not show up in the photo library!
I have also found that photos downloaded from a CD do not show up in the photo library either.
Anyone have any thoughts?

With a bit of arithmetic. Check the pixel size of your photos.
To print a good quality book you will need at least 200 pixels per inch to get the necessary dpi in the printout.
So your photos should have a pixel size of at least 13 x 200 by 10 x 200 = 2600 x 2000 pixels.
Check the Info panel for the pixel sizes of your selected photos.

Quality of photo when creating a photo book from iphoto

i am in the process of creating a photo book however i am downloading pictures from facebook and i am not sure if the qulaity will be good enough for print, will i be told during this process as i havent been yet and dont want to pay for something that isnt right. thanks

There is another potential issue. While you may have enough pixels, the plain fact is that not all pixels are the same. When a photo is uploaded to Facebook they 'process' it - and in the course of that throw away about 90% of the data in the file. What that means is that a lot of the character and depth of the photo may be lost when printed. Unfortunately, this is not something that iPhoto can warn you about.

Can you please tell me your online services location. To find that out, you need to go to the Organizer. Go toEdit>Preferences>Adobe Partner Services. Click the "Choose" button for location and there you will find your online services location. It should be US & Canada for Kodak Photobook services to work.
Also can you please let me know whether you are trying to do this in organizer or Editor?

How can i create a photo book from 2 libraries easily?

This is my situation.
I want to create a photo album of my child for the past year for parents/grandparents etc from the photos on mine AND my wifes macbooks. Before iphoto 9.5 i would simply look at her shared library from my iPhoto and use hers and my photos to make a book.
Now there is no shared library in 9.5, so after doing my homework on how apple wants us to do this now, I started a shared iCloud photostream ('kid' 2013) and invited my wife to it. I started adding photos from my library, and she did the same. All good i thought, but no. Becasue the photo stream only sorts by 'date added' not date taken, and in fact I cannot even see the date the photo was taken in the photostream, it means making a chronological photo book from both our photo libraries has now been made impossible.
Anybody got any other ways to do this?

Create an album, and then select all photos in the Shared Photo Sream and add them to the album. In the album you can see the dates of the photos in the Info panel. Then sort your album by date, and create the Photo Book from the album, not directly from the shared stream.

You can't just merge them. You will have to add the photos of Book B to Book A and add new pages to A to duplicate those in B.
NOthing was said about copying and pasting - you add the photos from book B to book a, add pages to bbok a and recreate teh pages in book a
Another way would be to print book B to PDF sending the PDF to iPhoto and then placing the pages as full page images in book A
