Creating layers

Despite doing everything correctly ( but clearly doing
something wrong) I have been unable to create a layer on a page.
The layer border is in a thin black line, not a thick blue one, and
there is no layer icon at top left of layer shape. when I release
the mouse, the layer shape dissapears and appears at the top of the
page as a long thin rectangle. I am at a complete loss. Has anyone
got any thoughts about this. Thanks.

  • How do I create layers in an adjustment layer and transfer those layers?

How do I create layers in an adjustment layer and transfer  or duplicate those layers in another image ?
I need to transfer the same colour readjustment from one image to several other images ... I have been told to do this in the adjustment layer platform how ever I cannot drag or copy those layers over to the other images I have open and in need of adjustment to the same layers ...
Images shows my lay out and what i've done this far.
    Thank you

You need to get out of single image view. Go to the editor preferences>general>Allow Floating Windows, then go to Window>Images>Float all in Window, then Tile or Cascade. Then you should be able to drag the layers from the layers panel for one image into the main image window (not the panel) for another image.

    Looks nice!
I understand what you've done now. You used the "Set Layer Visibility" command which sets the on/off state of all the layers at once. What you need is a more subtle approach, one that will only change the state of the specific layer associated with the button, not the rest of them (so that you could have multiple layers enabled at the same time). The way to do that is by using a script.
I wrote the script for you and applied it to the top-left counties (WILLIAMS and FULTON), in the attached file. You can now copy the actions I associated with those buttons to the rest of them, and it should work as you want it to.

  • Creating layers in photoshop7.0

how do i create layers in photoshop7.0

    Hi reily3339,
If your unable to create a layer or layers in photoshop 7, it probably has to do with the color mode and/or bit depth of the document.
For example, if your image is 16 bits/channel, then you would need to convert the image to 8 bits/channel.
    Image>Mode
Other images may need to be RGB Color.

  • Creating layers in an AI file

A customer sent me a AI file to be screen printed. Each color in the file is a seperate image, but the file currently has only 1 layer. I need to create a layer for each color to burn films fr screen printing. I know how to create layers when I create an image, but never had a AI file I could not "flatten" to produce the screens. Each color can be dragged off the image, I need to convert each to a layer - thanks!

For a job like this there's no need to use layers. Print separations will do all you need.
One thing though; I expect you will be printing colours one on top of the other, or at least that the colours will "kiss" to some extent.
Presumably too, you will be using opaque spot colours.
If my assumption is right you should pay special attention to overprints.
In normal circumstances you should either set all colours to overprint or else make colour traps (strokes in the same colour as the (non-overprinting) fills, but set to overprint).
Overprint Preview will show you the colours as if they were transparent but pay no attention to that.
The purpose of traps is to ensure that you don't get white contours when the colours don't register properly.
Here's a little example (the shot was done with Overprint Preview turned on):
On the left no provision has been made for misregister. You get ugly white areas if the design doesn't register properly
In the centre the star has been set to overprint so misregister is not a problem. If you are using opaque ink, neither is the colour. Yellow will remain yellow.
On the right the star has a trap. You can use this method if your inks are not opaque. But remember that the trap will be slightly visible, so keep it minimal.

  • Creating layered line art mesh grids

I would like to create some artwork in illustrator which is based on the same styles as seen here > link to image
However, I am not sure of the best way to do so - I think it may be best to create basic grids and then distort them
I also want to make sure that each layered grid is free from backgrounds so the LINES flow free an mesh together
Can anyone provide any guidance as to the best and easiest/quickest way to create this kind of artwork please ?
I am sure it's simple if you know how but as a newbie to CS5 i dont - so before I launch into attempts with line art grids and then distort them - i wanted to check if there's a better way
    thanks

I would say envelope distort would be easiest.
I use the Effect>Distort and Transform>Transform to make the repaeat of the lines one for the Vertical and one for the horizontal  so I have the grid.
I selected it all and went to Object>Envelope Distor>Make with Mesh if you practice with the envelope mesh you cn get to even give you straight lines as well

  • How can i add or create Layers into existing PDF File

How can i create or add new Layers into new or existing PDF file using DLE JAVA API (Datalogics API)

    sandyrock,
The PDFL, as Adobe distributes it, only has a C/C++ interface.
The JNI APIs are developed and supported by Datalogics, the company you licensed your copy of the PDFL from. Have you contacted them? Support for their API extensions to the PDFL should be included with your licensing fee and they have many tips and ready-made examples specific to their API extensions they could give you.

  • Script needed for creating layers in Indesign.

Ok, this sounds simple and im sure it is.
Im currently getting all WEBSITE designs produced by our creative department in Indesign (speed, ease, lack of training whatever! etc etc)
Im currently layering these elements up manually which is OK, but im sure somebody knows of a script somewhere!!!,
Ive got a SUPERB script that when the indesign file IS LAYERED I can make it a photoshop PSD thats ALL smart objects etc so Its perfect for web psds. Its amazing, if i can find a script that layers the Indesign document as well PRIOR TO RUNNING THE OTHER SCRIPT, I can quite literally do nothing and just watch the machine do the work!!
I look forward to your replies!!
    Paul

    Hi Vamitul
Im sure its very simple but I never seem to be able to find the answer!!, basically if you have 1 page with say 40 text fields and 40 pictures on there, it would through default create it all on 1 layer which is the standard practice and how Indesign has always worked.
Once I have had the design approved thats been created in Indesign I need to get each element on a seperate layer Ie 80 layers. I currently do this manually! (So the next action I do is use a script I have that turns it into a LAYERED.psd).
I simply want to have a script which puts each element on a seperate layer.
Help me Vamitul, I get a good feeling about you!, you could be my saviour!

  • How do you create layers in flash builder?

I was looking at this painting tutorial http://www.pixelhivedesign.com/tutorials/Flash+Painting+Program/   and was wondering how would you go about creating the different layers in flash builder?

I've written a basic paint app, based off of your examples (thanks again by the way), and this example http://www.jamesward.com/2010/03/22/flex-paint-updated-to-flex-4. • Creating LAYERS in DUOTONE

I'm trying to convert a 4-color logo that was created by someone else, using PS, saved in layers (PSD) --- to print in 2 colors, the name in gray (black screen) and a flame under it -- in a PMS ink.
So I want the name in gray only, bring the PMS color to zero, and make the flame all in PMS, no black in it. Problem is, any change I make to one layer --- is reflected on the other layer.... Is there a way to SEPARATE how the 2 layers react to my playing with the curves?
    Thanks.....

This tutorial is several years old, but it still applies.
Duotone mode uses the same pixel data for both colors. If you want completely different pixel data for each color, you have to use spot channels or a multi-channel document. You can't use layers and must edit things on the channels. (It's not that cut and dry, but to ease the explanation, it's best to think of it that way to start.)
An alternative is to simple create your artwork on the black and magenta channel in your document. Then, when printed, tell the printer that the magenta plate prints Pantone XXX.

  • How to create layers?

    how to create the layer?

To add onto what musarticus posted, at the bottom of the layers panel (window>layers) is an icon next to the trashcan that looks like paper with a folded edge, click that will create a new layer.
Adding text or any of the shapes will create a new layer for each one. So for example creating a rectangle shape then an ellipse shape would create two new layers with each shape on its own layer.

  • CS6 not creating layered PDF's

Why can I not create a pdf file from CS6 that preserves my layers, which are also known as OCG's, Optional Content Groups?  In "save as pdf", I have layers checked and I am indicating I want to preserve Photoshop functionality, which causes the PDF/X box to go to "None".  What am I doing wrong?  I know there is a script for saving each layer as a pdf automatically from which I could build the layered Acrobat file I want, but it I'd like a one-step process.  There is every indication that this should happen, but it does not.

    Answering both you and Mylenium,
I don't think there is blending going on.  I have saved it layer by layer as individual pdfs and it's worked fine when I bring them in as layers in Acrobat Pro X or Bluebeam.
Pfaffenbichler, you may be right.  Basically what you are telling me is that Photoshop can't save Acrobat layers into a multi-layered pdf, but simply in a format that allows the pdf file to be reopen with layers in Photoshop.  That seems strange that Adobe would not be able have Photoshop save into the newer, layered, versions of the pdf format it created and have the layers show up.

  • After creating layers i dont find desired output after deploying the applic

    Hi,
After creating all the UI components when i am using the layers and deploying the application, i find that the output in the layers are not looking as desired in the design mode.
In the design and the layout mode i set the charts and the tables , after deplyoing i find they doesnt look the way i set in the layout mode.
What could be the problem, anything with the settings? I tried all possible ways and had seen the output?
    Please help!!!!!
    Thanks
    Rani

    Hi,
    When you are using layer
always defined the area of  first Layer this is area which by default get apply to all remaining layers.
For Eg: If you keep the area of layer 1 as 200x300 & area of layer 2 as 400x500 the table & chart in your layer 2 will not be completely visible unless you match  the layer size with first layer.
    Hope I answer your doubt

  • Create layered Adobe Acrobat files from PSE 2.0?

This forum has been consistently very helpful to me, for which I am ever so grateful.
As a solution to the "global Awareness" and "global literacy" dilemma in public education, I have created an 8-volume print and digital content suite in PSE 2.0 (over a period of 12 years). Teachers are eager to get hold of it, but I am discovering that not that not all classroom teachers have direct access to Adobe Photoshop Elements. Is there a way to convert my PSE 2.0 files to layered Adobe Acrobat files without losing quality of the images?
[For low-res reference, see www.worldpeas.org and click on the .pdf button.] The .psd graphics files consist of large-format continental maps, layered with up to 200 postage stamp catalogue images. The stamp objects are moved to their correct places on the map, with the correct map number corresponding to the layer number. In the digital versions, users right click on the stamp image to see if they got the correct map position.
    Any other suggestions?
    Many thanks for reading this.

GloblaEd, I like your questions, they trigger my inquisitive nature!
Anyway, there is a multi-layer PSD World Map available* from http://snipahar.deviantart.com/art/Artistic-Map-Making-Template-318243114. This file makes use of layer groups, which is a full Photoshop feature. PSE can read layer groups and resave them but you cannot work with them other than hide, reorder, rename or delete them. For the purpose of this exercise though that's not important.
After unzipping the file from the above link, I opened it in PSE12 and saved it as a layered PDF file using the instructions I gave in Reply #2. The resultant PDF opens fine in both PSE12 and PS-CS6 with all layers intact, so I think things are looking good for what you want to do.
You can view or download the pdf I created from here - https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=F6CE9FE6B45F5496%21144
Incidentally the file has 346 layers, all of which were correctly saved by PSE12 into the PDF file and opened correctly in both PSE12 and full Photoshop (which is where the following screenshot is taken from). This should be a good test for you to determine if it can do what you want or not.

  • Can anyone tell me a how to create layers?

I have a page with a flash graphic and I've added a floating image to the page.  When the image floats, part of it is behind the flash graphic.  I want it to be on top.  I think this has to do with layers, but I can't seem to find any documentation to help me in CS3.  Can anybody give me any help?

    Hi
Flash content will normally be above any other content, you may be able to force the image above the flash content using the css z-index property, but this will not work for all your users, even if it works for you.
    css, z-index - http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_pos_z-index.asp.
