Creating Links in Widgets to Chapters, Images, Elsewhere?

Hi,
I have a client that wants to create an interactive timeline. Obviously the only way to do that is with a custom widget. Is it possible to create links in widgets that take you elsewhere in the book, outside of the widget? That is to say, a link in a widget that can take you to a chapter or figure or whatever outside of that same widget, elsewhere in the book.
I've searched for several days for information regarding this. If there is information about this posted somewhere, I'd be very grateful if you could point me to it.

Haven't tried elsewhere in an iBook but you can link to web pages as long as you have an Internet connection.
Widgets generally open to full screen so you would have to close the widget to move to another part of the book.
I have successfully linked to many web sites and pages with html widgets but again a connection is required.
You could use local storage for some data.

You may (you can see Groups in the Layers palette with the layer expanded):
1) Ctrl/Cmd+A to select everything and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+G to Ungroup ;
2) ShiftClick the circle to deselect it; if it is still a Group (all of its own), Ungroup again;
3) With the Centre Reference Point ticked in the Transform palette multiply the W or H value by 1.1 (just add *1.1 in the box) and Ctrl/CmdEnter to keep proportions (this is to make sure that they are long enough);
4) Ctrl/Cmd+A to select everything again and Pathfinder>Divide (this will make pie pieces);
5) Drag over the centre with the Direct Selection Tool and press Delete (this will rid you of the inner parts of the pie pieces so you just have the outer rim in pieces).
This should give you the 30 independent curved lines forming the circle, two of them with an extra (original) Anchor Point.

Creating a dropdown menu from an image hotspot

How do you create a dropdown menu from an image hotspot? For
example, this website is a single jpg image with links generated
from hotspot coordinates on the image. Can I have someone click on
a hotspot and a dropdown menu appears?

Given this fact -

one can assume that you are not very experienced with DW or
even with HTML.
In that case, the practical answer to your question would be
"no".
To create a 'drop-down' menu, you need to have a full web
page (not just an
image with image maps), containing a menu HTML structural
element. While
you *could* just place hidden elements on the page that would
only be
revealed (i.e., drop-down) when your image maps are rolled
over, the
practical reality is that this would be an extremely awkward
construct, and
not only most likely beyond the ken of someone who is
inexperienced, but
also just plain 'not right'.

I have a page with 2 nav links originating from 2 different images. 1 image / link works well with Firefox, Chrome and Safari. I won't even talk about the liberal usage of absolute positioning -- none of which is needed. You'll soon learn that this is not the way to build web pages when this comes back to bite you in the butt. It almost looks like this layout was created in another program. Was it?
#1 On the web file names cannot contain special characters like apostrophes. <a href="Kiki'sDeliveryService.html"> is not a valid file name. You need to rename without the apostrophe.
#2 This link is pointing to a file on your local hard drive which nobody except you can see.

I am afraid that this is not possible in Muse at this stage, I will recommend that you post this on our ideas section over here, https://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas, and let our devs team know of this requirement.
As a work around I will suggest that you create a dedicated page with this panel opened when you publish and link that page with the text that you want. Let me know if you need more clarification on this.

Cannot create links and bookmarks in version 10.1

I am trying to create links in version 10.1 for an e-book from table of contents. I know you are supposed to highlight words and use the link tool (chain image) however I cannot find this either on the tool bar or under tools. I am using PC.

(InDesign CS5) I have created hundreds of InDesign documents incorporating images stored on an external USB connected drive. I did a manual back-up to another drive at regular intervals but far from ideal.
I now have a network drive which is properly backed-up. I have copied all of the images and folder structure from the USB connected drive to this new drive.
My question is how I get all of the links in my indd files to point to the new drive. I am aware how to do it one file at a time, but is there a way of doing the same thing over many files/folders at a time?

It depends on how you organize your work. If you have one folder for images for a document, relinking one image should alert you that other missing images are in the same folder, but this assumes that images are missing. If the links window sees a clear path to the original location of the images, they aren't missing, so that won't work.
Another thing to try is to select all of the images in the links window and go to the fly-out menu and select Relink To Folder (navigate to the new folder, and you don't even have to select any images by name).
If you store your images in many different folders for the same document, you might want to either package the document to copy all of the images into one folder (you can specify to only copy images if you like) or use the fly-out in the links window (Utilities>Copy Links To…) and select or create a new images folder.

Linking the Invoice with PDF image of invoice already archived

I have a requirement to link my Incoming Invoice with Image of Invoice which is archived in another server.
Can someone suggest how to achieve this.
P.S: The invoice is created through an IDOC hence we are planning to have archive ID and Document ID in the Inbound IDOC, if it is helpful.

Hi Arun,
Look at BOR object IMAGELINK. There are methods Assign and Assignobject. Take lead from these methods and try writting your piece of code on same lines. We have used this in workflows. Ofcourse there is customizing (if you have not done it already) try reading on early or late archiving. I hope it helps.

First post on help forums as I'll racking my brains tring to
find a way to do the following.
Basically I created a multimedia cd for my works data sheet
pdf's using dreamweaver CS and using spry horz menu wigets to
create links to files etc ... everything worked sweet and happy as
but now I have been asked to attempt one step further.
Basically what I am trying to acheve here create a HTML page
in dreamweaver containing a spry menu that links automaticlly to
all our work pdf doc's regarding our products on a network drive,
in case the drive sits here F:\sales\suppliers data sheets\
Inside this directory is extra diretorys containing the data
sheets ... e.g F:\sales\suppliers data
sheets\3M\3Mpaper\100grit.pdf ... F:\sales\suppliers data
sheets\3M\3Mpaper\150grit.pdf ... etc
Is there any way I can create a widget spry menu automaticlly
to capture all of these directories and files and display as a
linked tree?
I can do it manually but this would take forever ... ha-ha

Create a custom widget

I would like to create a "component" -- basically a drop-down menu. Except that my drop-down menu will not select an item when a user clicks on it. The user must click on it for 2 seconds and then it will be selected. How can I create this custom widget/component?

Thanks for your reply. I was looking at AS 3 classes and in particular the Spark class DropDownList. I am thinking of creating a class that extends from DropDownList. Then overriding some method that will allow me to implement exactly when something should be selected (not just a click of the mouse but when the mouse is held down for 2 seconds). I am just having trouble finding which method this would be, maybe a public or private method or an event. I'm such a noob at this I'm sure this is obvious and either someone already knows it or it will catch their eye very quickly. How to create Links dynamically

I've tried for several days to create links dynamically, and
I can't get it work out.
Here is what my application do : in a
viewstack, I create dynamically some
canvas as children of the viewstack. The number of canvas
depend on the number of items in an arraycollection.
Creation of a canvas (included in a "for" loop):
Objet_Courant = Curseur.current;
var canvas_cible:Canvas = new Canvas;
canvas_cible.id = "CN_"+i;
canvas_cible.width = 315;
canvas_cible.height = 160;
ViewStack_cible.addChild(canvas_cible);
I inject content in each canvas the same way :
var newModele:Text = new Text;
newModele.id = "MODELE_"+i;
newModele.text = (Objet_Courant.modele) as String;
canvas_cible.addChild(newModele);
And now my question (at last) : I would like to create links,
for example on the text item. The URL of the link would come from
the arraycollection, as the other datas I use.
Does anyone have a clue for this ?

I still get stuck with this problem, even several months
after... I had the same problem with creating links on images, when
I dynamically create Tilelists with images as an ItemRenderer. How
can we associate links with the images ?
Any kind of help would be great :)

Can Anyone Create a Print Widget fo Captivate 4

I am still unable to print a single slide in Captivate 4 I loaded the slides printer widget that cames with Captivate 4 in to Flash 8 in the hope I could edit it and just have the print option, without all the extras but don't know enough to make it work. Is anyone out there able to create a printer widget for Cap4.
I am dunfounded that there is no option to print a slide. I have now started creating e-learning using courselab because it's so easy to print a slide in.
Can anyone help!

Having trouble when creating links

Good afternoon,
I use RoboHelp6 HTML, and i'm using the FlashHelp as the
output layout.
When I work on a topic in the WYSIWYG Editor, I try to create
links between a Word document or even a webpage that I have created
from the Word document.
When I go to click on the link that I have created in the
topic it shows that I have created a link but I can't actually
visualize the link.
When I go to generate the project, and see if the link works
from there. It doesn't even show the letter in blue or something to
show that there is a link attached.
Can somebody please tell me how to create links step by step?

Woooowwww, that's some long path! Do you really have that
many folder levels? ../ is shorthand that says Up One Folder. So in
this case, you have a page attempting to link seven folder levels
above where it lives. I don't suppose there is any way to screen
capture your folder structure for this project and post to an image
sharing site. Here is one:

I feel like a rookie but, can someone tell me how to create links to external URLs in Muse?

I want to attach the link to text which gives the name of the site. I am not an idiot, just unfamiliar with the program. I have looked through the learning videos but cannot find anything that specifically relates to my question. I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you, in advance, for any assistance.
