Creating .Mac web Galleries with iPhoto '08

OK, I'm fairly new to the Mac world, and started using my .Mac account this week to show vacation photos. I've created a few photo albums and published them to my .Mac account. But now when you go to gallery.mac.com/jasonskwarek you get prompted with a password to access the images. I've checked the galleries in iPhoto, deleted and re-uploaded them, there is no password set there yet I still get this prompt. Anyone have any ideas?
Also, when creating a new album and clicking the Web Gallery icon to create the web gallery it only uploads one image, I have to create the Web Gallery again and the second one will post all the images, I then delete the one that was created first. Am I doing something wrong here as well? I've created maybe 8 galleries and this has happened with every gallery that I upload.
TIA,
Jason

First - are yuou running the latest version of iPhoto - version 7.1.1? - if not update and try again
Second recheck the setttings - select a web gallery in the source pane (the left hand side bar) and click on the options (the little gear lookin thingy at the bottom of the screen) and be sure that everyone is allow to view and that there is no password - sounds like you did but be sure
next would be to delete the gallery, trash you iPhoto preferences and try again
Good Luck

  • .Mac web galleries with Aperture

    Hi all,
I use Aperture for all of my photography needs however, I'd really like to be able to use the .Mac web gallery feature of iPhoto '08. I haven't bought iLife '08 yet because I'd like to know how this would work...
Can anyone give me an insight into how using your Aperture library in iPhoto works? Does your Aperture library automatically appear in iPhoto? Would I have to export my photos from Aperture and then import into iPhoto (therefore having a duplicate)?
    Thanks for any help
    -Sam

    Sam
Just tried an experiment with importing dragging a couple of pics across.
If you use iPhoto in the default setting, (Copy Pics to the iPhoto Library on Import) then yes, the Previews are copied over.
However, if you disable this in the Preferences (->Advanced) the Preview is not copied over, but referenced instead, and a Right-Click -> Show File produces a Finder Window with the Preview Selected in the Aperture Library.

  • Getting back .Mac Web Galleries after reformat

I've created many .Mac Web Galleries with iPhoto and they've successfully published and appeared in the iPhoto source list.
I reformated, and even after logging into .Mac in System Prefs, the .Mac Web Galleries do not display in my iPhoto source list. They are all there if I go to iPhoto's preferences.
How do I get my .Mac Web Galleries back into the source list?

Never mind. Apparently you have to click "Check Now" in iPhoto preferences to force an update.

  • Strange behaviour in .mac web galleries

    Hi,
I have started to use .mac web galleries with aperture 2. However, I am witnessing some very strange behaviour. Firstly, it seems to take forever to update, the icon at the side of the gallery is permanently on the 'update' icon.
Secondly, whenever I add new photos to the gallery it actually creates an entirely new gallery with all the photos from the previous gallery.
Is anybody else having issues with the aperture flavour of .mac web galleries?
    thx
    Phil

I have a similar problem Phil! I watch the status indicator for a web gallery progress to about half way then it stops, the album doesn't get published. I have published albums before this started happening, and have published other albums successfully but sometimes certain albums don't publish. I delete them and repost them to no avail. Hopefully we can get some answers! This is quite lame, don'tcha think?

  • .mac web gallery and iPhoto '08 movies, which format?

Hi Folks, I ran into a problem over the weekend working on a movie project. As you might have read in the forums, there is no way to load up a movie to .mac web gallery with password protection. The suggested workaround by Apple is to import your movie into iPhoto '08 and then load it up into the .mac web gallery and apply the password protection offered by iPhoto.
But here comes the kicker, when I export movies out of iMovie '08 they have the .m4v extension, and iPhoto refuses them into it's library. So what kind of extensions of format should a export the movies to, for them to be imported into iPhoto. All help and support is welcome and appriciated!
    Cheers, CC

Seeing as iTunes store video is m4v format I bet someone writing iTunes thought we'd better not allow anyone to add iTunes store material to an iPhoto library, so all .m4v files are locked out.
Just tested this and exported a short .m4v and as you say when you try to import the .m4v file is greyed out.
    I think this'll work:
Under Share choose Export using Quicktime
    I chose
Movie to Quicktime Movie then selected Options tab
    Choose Quicktime to mov
Use an h264 codec with AAC.
I can certainly import that .mov to iPhoto - and create a web gallery - my uploading is very slow and everything is 'pending' at present but i thinks it's slowly going there!

  • Doubt concerning licence  - generating web galleries with Bridge CS4

Hi, I would like to know if I could generate web galleries with Bridge CS4 and place them in web pages which I intend to sell? There is a possibility to generate web galleries in Bridge CS4. Can I place any of them to a web page which I want to sell?

Why do you even doubt it?
If you use a brush and a bucket of paint to create a for-sale sign and sell that sign to your neighbor to stick in his lawn, would you be asking the manufacturers of the paint and of the brush if you can sell it your sign commercially?
    Come on, get real.
As long as you are not giving away copies of the software or pieces of its code, Bridge and Photoshop are just tools.

  • I just created a slide show with iPhoto 11 on my MacBook Air.  How do I save this to a DVD on my external drive so that it will play on a DVD player?

I just created a slide show with iPhoto 11 on my MacBook Air.  How do I save this to a DVD on my external drive so that it will play on a DVD player?

    Hi
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • I have a Mac Book Pro with iPhoto version 9.5.1 Can I delete more that one photo at a time?  Thanks!!

I have Mac Book Pro with iPhoto version 9.5.1.  Is there a way to delete more than one photo at a time?  Thanks!!!

    Hi LarryJackie,
When you go into Photos (or an Album or Event), click on the first photo you want to delete. If you want to delete a whole selection of photos in a row, hold down the Shift key, and then click on the last photo in the section you want to delete. All of the photos will be selected. Then click on Photos in the top menu and click on Move to Trash.
If you want to select photos that are not in a row, then click on the first photo, then hold down the Command key, then click on other photos you want to select. Keep the Command key held down until you have selected all of the photos you want. Then click on Photos in the top menu and then Move to Trash.
    Cheers,

  • How can I use bridge to create web galleries with more than 10 images?

I am new to building web galleris for my website. When i try to load more than 10 images in a gallery , Bridge cuts off all images beyond 10. I am confident that I can do this if i can find the right settings

I am not at my PS computer right now, but I think the Preview only shows 10 images (for speed) but they will all be there in the final output.

  • IWeb not seeing .Mac web galleries

I just bought Aperture 2.0 in favor of iPhoto. I published a .Mac web gallery via Aperture 2.0 to my .Mac gallery, and fired up iWeb to reference the gallery, but Insert > .Mac Web Gallery shows "No albums or movies available".
The web gallery works just fine. I'm looking at it right now in Safari.
Anyone know why that would happen?

Please when I try to publish my site appears the follow message:
    PUBLISH ERROR
Can’t create the file “13Prof._Evandro_faz_conferência_na_Universidade_Iagueiloniana,_Cracóvia,_sobre_Cul tura_de_Comunicação,_Diálogo_Multicultural_e_Não-violência:_a_Transformação_dos_ Jogos_de_Sentido_Através_da_Ascendência_Cidadã_Não-violentasobr.js.” The disk may be damaged or full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges."
And when I delete this file and try to publish again the same msg appears refering another file...
My disk is nott full and I don't know what is happening.
    Thanks, Evandro, from Brazil.

  • .Mac web galleries

Anyone figure out what ATV 2 wants when it asks for info regarding .Mac web gallery?
    the URL?
    the name of the gallery?
    my .mac user name?
    not frustrated, just excited!

I'm confused. When I used iPhoto to publish a gallery to .mac, it finished the task and told me that my gallery is at http://gallery.mac.com/myfirstname.mylastname#100013. I can't find a way to get Apple TV to "see" that gallery. Any advice on what I should enter?
This is not a very Apple-like experience. My experience with Apple has always been that their applications were easy and intuitive. This doesn't seem to be.

  • New mac user struggling with iPhoto

OK, I feel like an idiot, I never imagined moving from a PC to a Mac would have such a learning curve! I have added about 1500 photos to iPhoto, sorted them into albums and folders and batch changed to text titles.... My library looks good.
I take my zillion digital photos and maybe download to the computer every week or month. There will be photos from several different events. Since I don't want that whole batch left together, I immediately sort into albums and folders. I can do this and use iPhoto easily, but my problems come when I try to access my photos outside of iPhoto. So if I choose to attach a photo to an email, or more importantly, create something in Shutterfly, all heck breaks loose! In my old world (using first Photo Shop Album and then PSE) I could just jump on Shutterfly, click add pics, browse and my album names would show and I could just import to Shutterfly. Now I do the same thing but I can find nothing. What am I missing? I thought when I batch changed everything it would solve my problem. Am I just not looking in the right place? This seems like it should be simple and I am a very experienced computer user, but I have not used a Mac in years and have never used iPhoto until now.
I wanted to just buy PSE for the Mac but I read that it is not really for the Intel based machines, so now I wait. I have no idea what other programs might work for me. Honestly, I want to do very simple stuff here, this surely can be done
    Please advise : )
    Lesa

    Lesa,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Yes, there is a learning curve. Apple has some helpful information about the how to use the features of OSX: http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/ and for PC users switching to Mac: http://www.apple.com/support/switch101/.
Once you import photos into iPhoto, there is no need to access them through the Finder (think Windows Explorer). In fact, it is strongly recommended that you do not tamper with the items inside the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder in any way. Changes you make will not be recognized by the database, causing damage to the library and even a totally corrupted database. With your PC you were used to file browsing. iPhoto is not a file browser, and browsing through its structure to access your photos can lead you to damage the database.
To use your photos, launch iPhoto. There are many ways to organize them from within the application. To use them outside iPhoto, select the ones you want and do File > Export > File export to a folder on your desktop. The export dialog gives you the option to rename based on your iPhoto titles or album. You also have the option to resize your photos for better performance in an email or on a website. Upload the exports from the desktop, then delete it when you're finished. The originals remain safe in your iPhoto Library folder.
Albums have no representation in the Finder at all. They do not contain your files, but only a set of instructions for iPhoto to display your photos together. This allows photos to be in many albums with no duplication of the files.
When you title a photo, you do not change its filename. iPhoto keeps the original intact with no alterations, including the filename. The only way to rename the file itself is to do it before importing into iPhoto, or upon export from the library as I described above.
Two other ways to access your photos are to drag a thumbnail to your desktop, which creates a copy on your desktop for use in another application. Or right-click (Control-click) a photo and choose "Show File" from the contextual menu. A Finder window will open with that photo selected.
You can set iPhoto to work with an external image editing application in iPhoto's preferences. I use PSE 4, and I highly recommend it. With it set as my editor, I choose my photos from within iPhoto, double-click to open them in PSE, edit, then Save. This gets them saved back into the iPhoto Library, and my edited version replaces the thumbnail I see in the iPhoto viewing window. My mini is a PPC, so I can't give you an idea of how well (or how slow) PSE works on an Intel Mac. I haven't personally seen anyone not use it due to being on an Intel machine. There are others here who know - perhaps they'll chime in.
Another excellent resource is the iLife Multimedia tutorials. You can begin with iPhoto, then find links for iMovie and the others. http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/iphoto/
Please don't hesitate to ask as many questions as you need.
    Regards.

  • Not able to create a web project with jsf or jsp or struts or spring

    Hi,
I am trying to create a dynamic web project with jsf or jstl or struts or spring or any of web options available for a web project, but I am not able to do it.
When I choose any of these options, the wizard asks me to "select an existing jstl/jsf/Spring 2.0 library, or click Add to add a new library." and since it doesn't show any existing libraries there, I clicked on add new library. When I click add, it opens a new dialog box where it has two options :
    1. to use spring/jstl/jsf lib from bea web site - when I choose this option, it tries to connect to the bea web site and gives me error that "connect time out". I don't know why it is not able to connect to the internet. I am not able to see the help also. There it gives error "The requested URL could not be retrieved".
    2. to use libraries from an existing spring installation - I provide the path of a directory where spring lib are, but then it gives me error that this is not a valid installation.
On another machine, I am able to see the help contents, but still not able to get these libraries from the bea site.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sushma

    Hi Sushma,
The issue you are facing has been addressed and will be part of the next release. For the current release, please follow the steps listed below.
Send an email to [email protected] with details on specific facets you are trying to enable on your project.
You will be provided with a url where you can download the required jars and details on how to manually add the jars to the workspace which will prevent the download on demand scenario.
    Cheers
    Raj
