Creating mailboxes (folders) for Mail

I have synched the settings from my Mail account on my desktop machine to my new iPod touch, but none of the mailboxes have carried over. There seems to be no way to create mailboxes directly on the iPod touch. I created a new mailbox on the desktop Mail as an experiment, and then synched, but that didn't carry over either. Yet the iPod touch instructions definitely state that you can organize your mail "from one mailbox or folder to another".

I think this really is only the case for IMAP email not POP. The synchronization done between the iPod touch and the Mac synchronizes the settings, not the mail folders. I use IMAP and all of my folders are accessible through my iPod just as they are through web interfaces or Mail.
You can convert from POP to IMAP if your email server will allow it.
Let me know if this helps and if you need to know more.

How do I create new folders in mail on IPad and IPhone for saving emails?

You can't do it on the iPad you would need to do it on your computer and the folder will be seen by your account on the iPad and iPhone only if they are IMAP and Exchange accounts. POP accounts are not supported for folders.

  • Folders for Mail?

Hi, Can one create folders for Mail on Ipad or is there only the Inbox for storing messages?

I know how to make folders in Gmail. Open your gmail account in Safari. At the bottom of the page click on the BASIC HTML link. You can make folders in two places, SETTINGS or in the left column click on EDIT LABELS. Labels are folders in gmail. I have no idea why they call it that... In the CREATE A NEW LABEL box name your folder and hit create. Open the mail app, if the folder doesn't show up, close the email app and open it again. The folder should be there...
You can also make folders in your email account using you desktop computer. You might be able to do this will other email providers.

  • How to make a CD of MP3 songs to play on a Bluray player without ITunes creating separate folders for each album

I'm trying to make a CD full of MP3 files that I can play on my Bluray player for a long party, but when I burned the disc using ITunes, it created separate folders for each source album, and it won't play.  You have to open each individual album to get the songs to play.
Can you make a cd that has all of the songs in one folder?

When you are in Album view in the Photos app - tap the edit button in the upper right corner - tap the X in the corner of the album to delete it.

  • Creating mailbox folders

How do I create mailbox folders? I have the original iPad running iOS 5.

This can be done with an IMAP or Exchange account, not with a POP account.
This is included in the user guide.

No. This is NOT true. I've been battling with this for a couple hours.
    I choose Export>Versions
    choose
    Subfolder Format: Project Name
    no custom subfolder
    Name Format: Current Version Name.
Aperture creates project folders for each image and names them Projects1, Projects2, Projects3 etc.
To be sure, I have no project named Projects
    x
This particular Aperture library has 16 projects. you can see in the screen grab it's created more than 30 folders
If I uncheck the Subfolder, that is say NONE, I just get images and images and images, not in their project folders (of course, because I've said NONE, so why would it put them in project folders?)
I just want to export the entire library and have the versions placed in folders named by the projects from which they came.... ez enough, no?

  • ITune has created several folders for the same album title.  How do I consolidate those folders into 1?

iTune has created several folders for the same album title.  How do I consolidate those folders into 1 without consolidating all albums?

I don't think you want to combine all of the HTML into one file. That doesn't make too much senese. If you wanted to, then just copy everything from all 3 files between <body></body> and paste into one html file between <body></body>. I think what you're trying to do is create seperate static pages. I would read/youtube how to setup a blogger website. • Create new folders for Ipad e-mail

currently i have only drafts, sent, spam, and trash as locations to move files. how do i create additional folders so that i can move e-mails for storage without losing all the content.
there are many i don't want to through away but i also don't want them just piling up in my inbox

What mail client are you using?? MobileME, GMail, etc.
If you are using GMail log into your GMail account on your computer > create a new folder > restart the mail client on your iPad > open your mail > at the Mailboxes screen you will see "Accounts" click your email client you will see all your created folders there. There is no way to do it through the actual mail app.

  • Create new folders for e-mail?

Is it possible to create folders for e-mail? Or does this sync with e-mail accounts? I use comcast.net and none of my folders show up on my iPhone. Any info. would be appreciated.

With an IMAP account only and Comcast provides POP account access only.
A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.
An IMAP account is designed to be accessed with an email client on multiple computers or devices with the ability to keep all server stored mailboxes synchronized with the server automatically with all email clients used to access the account, and the ability to create additional server stored mailboxes to sort/store received or sent messages by category which will also be kept synchronized with the server automatically with all email clients used to access the account.
With an IMAP account, you can also store sent messages on the server. Send a message with the iPhone's Mail client and the message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox automatically when checking the account with the email client used on your computer to access the account, and vice-versa.
This is not possible with a POP account.

  • Creating new folders in Mail

    Greetings..
How does one create new folders under the inbox for organizing purposes? I was expecting to be able to create a "new folder" within any other folder, but all I can find is smart folders, and some other strange option which results in this new folder under the heading "On My Mac"...strange...what's this "On My Mac" all about? Why can't I just create a new folder under my inbox, and organize the way I see fit? This is really odd..

You can accomplish this by creating a new mailbox ( *plus sign* in the bottom left corner of the main window). I think this should say folder, but I didn't make this choice. It acts like a folder. Just click and drag emails from your inbox to these other mailboxes you created. The "On My Mac" just refers to where the emails get stored (/Users/yourshortname/Library/Mail)
    D.
Edit: the funny thing is the icon for the new mailboxes is a folder, go figure.

  • Create MailBox Folders In My Comcast POP Account

I have a Comcast POP Email account on my iPhone, is there a way to create more than three folders for this account?  The only three that I have is:
    Inbox
    Sent
    Trash
Is that all that I can create?  Everything works within those mailboxes, but I'd like to create at least one more for Saved Mail.  I have several mailboxes on my desktop computer running Microsoft Outlook as my mail program.

Check out Gmail, they offer what you are looking for.

  • How do you create sub-folders in Mail?

    Hello, thanks for reading.
I have several domains and email accounts relating to different businesses and each account needs various associated archive folders for receipts, licences, customers, sales, newsletters, and so on...
With a sub-folder for each email kept for future reference on each account, this is a total of around 100 folders over 4 email accounts. Mail folders treat emails like songs in iTunes and that just doesn't work. The ideal solution is to have sub-folders within each mailbox.
If sub-folders aren't an option, can anyone suggest a way around this?! I might be able to slim it down to 20 folders but that would make finding an old email a little harder, especially if I don't know the email account it relates to or the sender.
I did all this easily on Outlook Express, which I think is available for Mac, right?

I've got tons of sub-folders in Mail.
I think the key is to understand that a mailbox is represented by a folder icon.
If you select a folder (mailbox), when you choose Mailbox/New Mailbox, the new folder appears inside the folder you highlighted. If not, you can drag it inside another folder as mentioned previously.

  • Create new folders for old messages on my computer

How do I create new folders in my computer to archive old messages and save them to my computer.

Do you mean in Mail or the Finder? In Mail simply click on the [+] button at the bottom left of the folders fist. Select New Folder. In the dialog select where you want the folder located and the name for it.
In the Finder navigate to where you want to create the folder then press SHIFT-COMMAND-N to create a new "untitled" folder.
