Creating many links in a porfolio.

How can a create many links in a portfolio. Using Acrobat Pro XI. I have 109 schematics. Each Schematic is numbered. Other schematics reference many schematics in the portfolio. Like having a pipe line too big for a page, so when you are tracing the pipline and get to the edge of the page it has a reference number to the next document you need to look at to continue to follow the pipeline. I would like to make the reference numbers into links so that when following the pipeline the operator could continue on with just a click instead of a search for the next referenced document.
Any help would be appreciated.

You can only create inter-document links in a Portfolio by hand; there's never been any way to automate or import them.

Query Builder - How to create a link between tables with many fields?

I have many fields in my tables. When the query builder loads the tables, the tables are expanded to accomodate all the fields. Suppose I want to link Table A's Customer ID (the first field in Table A) wiith Table B's Customer ID (the last field in Table B). How can I do that if the last field in Table B are not visible in the screen?
Currently, I create a link in Table A's customer with a random field in Table B. Then I edit the link to create a proper condition. Is there a more efficient way to do this?

Hi woro2006 -
Easiest way is to grab Table A's title bar & drag Table A down the page until the columns you want to link are visible.
FYI, there is an outstanding bug
Bug 10215339: 30EA1: MISSING THE 2.1 RIGHT CLICK OPTIONS ON DATA FIELDS TO CREATE A LINK
to add a context menu on the field for this. That is, Link {context field} to > {other data sources} > {fields from that source}
It is being considered for 3.1, but I have no idea where it will end up in the priority queue.

P.S.: Arghh, Unfortunately, I just tried it and the diagram does not auto scroll while you drag, so there is some guess work/repositioning the view involved.

I want to share my RoboHelp project with external users that do not have access to my company's internal server if I publish there. Is there a way to create a link to my project that I can just share with other people?

Are you clicking the "view result" link? If so, the CHM should simply open. However, there are a host of things that can go wrong along the way and to figure out what may be happening we need to ask all sorts of questions.
Did you click View Result after it finished? If so, what happened? An error? Nothing? What?
Where are you attempting to compile the help? When you look at the properties of your Single Source Layout recipe, where are you pointing the output folder to? What is the file name?
Are you able to open and view other CHM files? Do you know what a CHM file is?
As you can see, there are many questions to answer. And probably others I failted to think of.

Not able to create a link

Hi,
this is my scenario. i have this one report page with 3 report regions.
i have a hidden item called "item1"
in region1, i display my 1 record match. and the first column called "collection" of the record i want to trap it into the hidden value. and i use this hidden value to display the records in region2 and region3.
so this is what i did. i go to attributes in region1, and click edit on the first column called "collection.
then i go to link and select link text as #COLLECTION#, then under item1 i select the hidden item called "item1" and the value i select as #COLLECTION#
then i click "apply changes"
but when i come back to this column attribute page for the "collection" column, i dont see that "item1" and "value" values under link anymore. they just get erased every time automatically.
i tried this many times, but every time i create the link with the values save it and when i come back, they r not there anymore.
How can i fix this error? my goal is to trap a column for report region1 and use that hidden value in report region2 and report region3 in the same page.
Can someone help me please.
actually this worked in the morning. but when i deleted the application and recreated them the same way, it is working at all.

What is the version of the Oracle database in which you have specified/and use the database link?
If it is for example 10.2.0.3.0 you need to apply the mandatory patch for RDBMS bug 5965763 first before being able to use an 11g gateway. Have a look at MetaLink note 457808.1 for details about this patch.

Create view link between two view objects (from programmatic data source)

Hi Experts,
Can we create a link between two view objects (they are created from programmatic datasource ; not from either entity or sql query). If yes how to create the link; ( i mean the like attributes?)
I would also like to drag and drop that in my page so that i can see as top master form and the below child table. Assume in my program i will be only have one master object and many child objects.

Easiest way to do this is to add additional transient attributes to your master view object, and then include those additional transient attributes in the list of source attributes for your view link. This way, you can get BC4J to automatically refer to their values with no additional code on your part.

I think you overlooked some of the possibilities provided by Apex.
For instance you can create a simple HTML region where you put the links as you prefer (makes sense if they are a fixed number and you need a special formatting).
You can also create Lists (see shared components). Lists are specifically meant for links, like Task lists in the Apex Builder itself, but you cannot build them dynamically, so you must know in advance each and every static link.
Or you can create a report if links come as result of a query which is good for building them dynamically.
A fourth option is a PL/SQL region outputting HTP calls where you have total control over every aspect.

Does drag & drop create a link or duplicate footage?

I have an external drive. trying to clear some space on one of the internal drives.
when you drag and drop from say disk 2 (internal) to external drive, is that duplicating the footage or only creating a link?
if its only a link, then where is the original footage?
Im really having to relearn editing on FCP after using many pc based editing softwares.

When dragging a file from one disk to another:
• Just dragging will COPY. (Notice the little + next to the cursor?)
• Dragging with the Apple key held down will MOVE. (No little + next to the cursor.)
When dragging within directories on the same disk:
• Just dragging will MOVE. (No little +)
• Dragging with the ALT key held down will COPY. (Little + will appear.)

I want my page to include a form to insert a department
and a table to create many employees and inserting them into the department in one transaction

here is what i did
I used view links only to link betwwen the parent & child
I created bounded task flow
I dragged and dropped a "createinsert" operation from the master iterator and "createinsert" operation from the detail and linked them to a page
In the page I dragged a form for the master and a table for the detail ( so I can create multiple records)
I added "createinsert" and "delete" operations on the table on the form of ADF Buttons so i can add & remove child records
Here is the problem:
when I enter some data in the parent form and then try adding child records in the table using the buttons, it refreshes the parent form and clears the data in that form

Create many SIA with only one installation issue

I want create many CMS linked to corresponding SIA in one install.
For sample, we have:
PRG -->CMS 6400
TST -->CMS 6500
In the install, The SIA for PRG is autolmatically created.
After this, I have created a new database in Mysql for TST.
I have used command for create a new SIA :
./addnode.sh -name SIATST -siaport 6411 -cms boxi:6400 -user Administrator -password PRG
I have launched the command :
./cmsdbsetup and respond the name of the new SIA --> SIATST
I have 'updated' the datadase info and reinitialize the database. At this time, the CMS port is asked and I have respond 6500.
Like explain at the end of the tool, I have launched the command:
./ccm.sh -updateobjects -cms boxi:6500
After start the SIATST, I can connect to the CMS:6500 and all services is connected to the port 6500 (in the command line -ns boxi:6500).
Unluckily, the <node> name SIATST is always present in SIAPRG (cms on 6400) but on failed to start.
I have tried to remove this by command:
./removenode.sh -name SIAPRG -cms boxi:6400 -username Administrator -password PRG
I have the error:
Logging on to boxi:6400 as user Administrator with secEnterprise authentication...
The SIA on this machine with the name SIATST doesn't exist in the cluster you are connected to.
In the 'Server' tab in the CCM interface, I have always this node information and all services linked.
It's possible to remove this SIATST on SIAPRG ?
This procedure is good for wanted solution ?

Why two primary that is 'coz geographically based server support and workstation. You can think it as a data center to data center split.
That doesn't make sense and aren't valid reasons for 2012 (not that you can necessarily change it now).
This line jumps out at me in the log file though: "An MP exists on this machine".
That looks like the system you are installing on previously had an MP on it. I would delete the ccm namespace in WMI, cleanup all reference to ccm and Configuratin Manager from the registry, and then try again.

Have existing glossary, want to create auto link instead of manual

I've got an existing glossary inside an iBooks document with no links. I would like to automate the linking process to each of the Glossary Terms rather than doing it manually. Is this possible?
Everything I've seen demonstrates how to hightlight an item, then create the Glossary Term. However, I am working the other way around with an existing Glossary, with no links.
It's a technical handbook requiring many linked terms. The glossary contains 125+ items and must be linked across 430 pages. It's extremely time consuming to Find [Term] > click Add Link button > click Find Next next. Especially since one term might appear 50-60 times. It would be much more efficient to do a global search and link process for (individual or otherwise) glossary items, THEN review afterwards to ensure accuracy.

Hmm, that would be a new one on me, but I see new things all the time and try to always keep an open mind.
Okay, so one way past this might be to do the following.
Create a snippet. Copy the content of the desired page and paste into the snippet.
Create 30 different versions of the same topic by simply placing the Snippet into each topic. Then insert the different topics into the TOC.
You should still be able to modify the content of the topic in the single place (the snippet) and by having discrete points from the TOC, there should be no issue and synchronization should work beautifully.

How to Create Symbolic link using pure Java code?

I would appreciate if someone can tell me how to create symbolic link using JAVA API. I have looked into many forums but couldn't get a better answer.

Java is likely not the tool to use here, as symlinks are not present in Windows while "pure" Java attempts to be platform independent. You could use Runtime.exec to execute the ln -s command

Ahh. You are using SharePoint Foundation. Yes in that case you would not have that feature.
That makes your requirements bit tricky given I verified creating this link without Publishing feature activated and it did not work and hence I tend to believe that it would not work in your case without that feature.
What you can try is drop the page viewer web part and try configuring it to open your file share and see if that helps. I do not have Foundation otherwise I would have verified this before posting but give it a try and see if it helps.

HELP! FOR LOOP TO SCROLL THROUGH TABLE AND CREATE DATABASE LINK

Here's the scenario, not much of a PL programmer, just basic SQL so really need some help people!
I have 2 tables. 1 contains list of DB's and the other contains rules to follow.
I need to create a loop that goes through the table containing the DB's and on each row a DB link is created (Only 1 link allowed!)
Once created, the schema currently logged in with also has an account on the linked DB in order to run scripts- The scripts are stored centrally hence the requirement for the link to the target DB.
There are numerous scripts that need to be executed and can all be called from 1 script, once executed the loop exists and the database link needs to be dropped.
Once dropped, the first loop continues, creating a DB link for the next DB listed in the table (and all the scripts are fired again)
This continues against all the DB's listed in the table.

Thanks again for the response, you've hit the nail on the head. SQL scripts on a unix server, a loop goes through a table 1 at a time. Each row gets a link created and then all the scripts stored on the server are executed against the db linked to. So I'm assuming this is a loop within a loop.
1 loop to go through the table to create the link and then another loop within once connected to execute all the scripts against the connected DB. Once the scripts are run, the loop exits and moves onto the next server and so on until all the servers have the scripts are run.
It's PL/SQL scripts we're after and not shell scripts as this would free us from the OS constraints.
We have to drop the links due to security. Any idea on o
