Creating multi-page document with multiple templates

Hi,
I am new to Pages and am attempting to create a photo book that I can export as a PDF and have printed through an online service. I have successfully created multiple templates in Pages that I want to use in my book, but cannot figure out how to create a new page based on an existing template. If I select "New" or "New from Template Chooser" I end up with a brand new document, not a new page in my existing document. If I select Insert --> Pages, I am only given the choice to insert a Text or a Blank page. How do I insert a new page based on a template? Or, how do I apply a template to a blank page?

Okay, I have figured out a way to accomplish my goal. I have my master Pages document that I am adding pages to by:
1. File --> "New from Template Chooser"
2. Selecting my template
3. A new document is opened
4. I add my photo and custom text
5. Copy the new page from the Pages area in the left nav
6. Paste the new page back into my master document
This works, although is a bit cumbersome. Would much prefer to be able to simply add a page in my master based on an existing template, but I still don't see how to do that...

Multi-page document with multi Master-pages

Using InDesign CS6 (Mac):
I'm to start a 50-page document that's single-pages (not spreads) for 3-hole-punch book. I'm using 2 Master pages, which are alternating between the front and back of each sheet. So page 1 is master A, page 2 is B, 3-A, 4-B, etc.
So that I don't have to manually add alternate pages to the Pages window — is there an elegant way I could tell InDesign at the "New Document" level to create those 50 alternating pages?

Thanks, Jdanek, but after posting my question here I realized a better place to post it is in the InDesign forum, and I already got the answer there, which is to create a facing-page document with one master page, that has a larger margin at the binding side. The pages will be read as spreads, even if this a 3-hole-punch book. I then will save it as a single-page PDF for production.

How do I create a PDF document with multiple different page sizes?

I scan tif images and can have a single document with Letter, Legal, Tabloid, and even full map plan sizes (36" X 24") all in one document. I get the document all set, then do a: File, Print, choose Adobe PDF (running Acrobat XI Pro), but it converts all the pages in my tif file to a single size.
I've found where to set the size, but the problem is I have many different sizes. Is there a way to have the Adobe PDF printer, just use the original documents page sizes for each page when converting?

The program I use to create the TIF files (OpenText's eDOCS Imaging) does not make PDFs, it makes TIFs (and TIFFs). To then convert this, if I try to do it through Adobe directly, I get an error which prompts me to open it in the native program and to choose print and then select the adobe printer.
This works perfect if every page is the same size, but many times my documents have many different page sizes as well as portrait and landscape within the same document (but that is a separate option).
Doesn't Adobe have a "use the original page size / orientation" as an option when creating PDFs from existing documents?

Create multi-page PDF with photoshop CS3

I have created 8 A4-sized PSD documents in Photoshop CS3 and I would like to create a single PDF document with 8 pages.
Is there an easy way to do this?
I would really appreciate any help that people can offer, as I am stumped!

make sure to make the proper selections for quality, based on your purpose
a PDF made for commercial printing will be large
If you want to put it on internet or email you need to select the setttings
for web based doc
OR you could open acrobat and create a multipage document
I think the default is 8.5x11
(not sure) but if you have unusual size paper
make sure to change the page layout to that

How can I create a "master" document with multiple variations?

I designed a map that will be posted at a few dozen junctions with a "you are here" symbol. Every one will be identical with the exception of this symbol. I don't know if there is any way to do this while preserving a "master" map that can be edited all at once. For example, I may need to change the location of the paths and it would be a real time saver if I didn't have to edit 20+ files (each with an arrow in a different spot but otherwise the same) separately. Also, I will be sending the file over email to a professional printer, so I am very uncertain about what would be a standard way to format something like this and really wouldn't want to clog their email.
I haven't been able to figure out an easy way to do this. I'm wondering if it involves using multiple artboards, a feature that I'm not very familiar with, or if the easiest way is to have a layer for each symbol location and just save twenty files (whew) and send them to the printer as separate documents - which seems super clumsy.
I have tried copying the artboard multiple times. This was my best attempt at editing all at once: I created whatever I needed on one artboard, then dragged it to the symbols panel, then cut, then went to edit > paste on all artboards. However, this doesn't allow me to simply fiddle with a path or object that already exists and I can't figure out how I would delete the same object from all artboards.
If anyone has some thoughts, I'm pretty novice, so please keep it in simple terms. Also, I am in a bit of a time crunch, so speedy answers are much appreciated! Thank you!

Alright, that makes sense. And yep...I've never worked with a professional printer so I wasn't sure if it is standard to have something that will require that much involvement in the set-up on their part, but I guess it's preferable to sending a bunch of separate documents. Printing a multi page pdf -with multiple pages per sheet

In order to save paper I create multiple page pdfs and in the print dialog box under Layout I select Pages per Sheet 2 , etc. The problem is when i try to print out the document, it only prints out the first page. The other pages fail to print. this only occurs when printing a pdf in this way. I have already re-installed Acrobat.
error on printer is: error typecheck offending command and the file name changes on the printer to acr.000000.tem
I'm using acrobat 8. Printing to a xerox docu-color printer.

Nope, that's a Flash-only effect. Sometimes people try to embed a SWF (Flash file) into a PDF, but that only plays like it's a movie, and doesn't work well.
I think you should give up on the idea if you want to use PDF as the distribution method.

Page document with audio file not sent by email

Hello and blessed Christmas to everybody.
Here is my problem.
I created a pages documents with images and an audio file from iTunes inside.
Sharing it by Mail, (and converting it in PDF so that anybody without pages be able to open it) I see that the audio file is not present or not playing inside my mail.
Is this because of the conversion in PDF?
But I'm afraid of PC user not being able to see it if I let it in Pages.

Save each page of a multi-page document as a separate file using spawned file names with javascript

We are currently changing our hard-copy personnel files and converting them to pdf files. We have scanned the entire file into one multi-page document.
I am wanting to save each page (or groups of pages) as separate files.
In order to facilitate this, I have duplicated field names--such as FirstName, LastName, EmpNo on each page. This information should be static for the entire file.
However--I also need information that will change for each individual "page" or document--such as TypeOfDoc, Date, etc. I have used the Spawn fields using the overlay method on each of the pages in the document. Then I went in and filled in the information for each page of the document--such as TypeOfDoc, DateOfDoc.
Now I want to save each page of the document as a separate file using the field names as the file name.
I first created an action that would split all the pages into separate files and save them into a folder.
Then I want to save each file as a specific file name based on the information in the fields.
My problem is obtaining the name of the spawned field name. The rest of the field names I am not having a problem with.
This is what I have so far to name the file.

I receive the following error.
TypeError: getField("P" + oPage + ".TEMPLATE.DATE") is null
I think this is due to the fact that I have extracted all the pages as individual files.
If I were to do the above, but not extract the pages first--I do not know how to just save one page at a time.
Please help. This is a massive project, and if we have to save each file individually, it will take a lot of time.

How do I scan a document with multiple pages into one file? My old printer (psc 2110) asked after each scan if I wanted to scan another page. At the end I had one pdf file with multiple pages.
This new one creates one file for each page and I cannot find a way to create one pdf file with multiple pages.

Hi mpw101,
If you load the papers into the ADF - Automatic Document Feeder, and then select Document to PDF then they will all be scanning into one file. Let me know if this works for you?

How to create a PDF document with page curls using Adobe CS 4?

My goal is to create a PDF document with page curls. I am using Adobe CS 4.
1.      The document was created in Adobe InDesign CS 4 where the page turn (curl) transition was applied.
2.      Then the document was exported to .swf.
3.     The .swf file was imported into   Adobe Acrobat Pro to create a PDF file with flip page or page curl transitions.
These are the problems.
1.      The background is not transparent.
2.      Page dimensions have to be increased at least an inch in width and length so that the full page can show
3.      The command and+   will not only increases the document's screen size. It increases the page margins.

PDF was never designed to support the Flash page curl effect (it didn't exist back then). Anything you try (and you've tried the standard hack) will look like a hack. Personally, I don't think the effort is worth it for an effect that's much overused.

How to create a scrollable ( multi page) document using Acrobat 5.0 for Windows

How do I create a multi page document that can be scrolled through? I want to place one drawing, which I have in pdf format, on each page of the document then send it via email so the recipient can open it and scroll through the pages to see all the drawings.

The pages in sections stick together because the text flows between the pages.
Insert a section break to isolate pages between sections.
Now this all works in Pages '09, unfortunately Pages 5 doesn't let you.

Multi-page documents in Muse?

In Adobe Muse, do I have to hyperlink each page of a multi-page document, as with next and back buttons? I am ruling out scroll bars or pages connected to anchors as awkward for the end user. It would be good if I could simply paste into Muse multiple pages from InDesign, after these pages are saved as HTML, but I assume that doing so would only create a single long page. Comments/suggestions?
(I realize that alternatively, I could export everything from InDesign to Dreamweaver and do an ftp upload, but I am not skilled enough to program Dreamweaver with the kind of menu widgets which are a slam dunk in Muse. Otherwse, content which I have in InDesign is what I would like to display in Muse.)

Thank you. I appreciate the imput. But I must not have been clear. What if I want to place text from a 20 page Microsoft Word document into Muse? If I do not wish to use anchors or scroll bars, it would seem to me that I have to create upwards of 20 pp. in Muse, manually cut and paste from Muse page to Muse page until all 20 Word pp. are placed (after awkwardly deciding how much fits on each page without crowding a footer), and then manually hyperlink each of these Muse pages. Correct?
I realize that a horizontal menu widget will allow me to group, say, 20 pp. as subordinate to a single page, but clicking on the associated menu will only bring me to the first page of this group. From there I would need manually created hyperlinks to the second, third, fourth page, and so on, would I not? My 20 pp. represent a continous article, and I would not want 20 menus for it. Obviously, I can chunk the 20 pp. with subheadings, but I am simply trying to ask if it is a fact that I will need hyperlinks for content that spans more than one page. I speak of 20 pp. in this example, but for a site that hopefully will have hundreds of often changing pages, the prospect of manually entering next and back buttons is daunting. In fact, I am not sure if Muse, however good for single pp., is a good fit for my project.
