Creating new characteristic in GATP

Hello All,
We have a requirement, where new characteristic is to be created in GATP planning area. Could you please help me with step by step configuration to be done in this case.

Rahul,
If you had said key figures, I could have been a bit more optimistic. For new characteristics, though, you basically have to start from scratch. It is just as if you are re-creating your Planning area, all dependent planning books, and all allocation config. Go through every single step your originally performed when you created your entire allocation scenario.
You will most likely lose all existing data in your books. If this is going to happen in a production system, ensure that you back up your data before starting. Test the reload of data before moving the changes into production.
I don't intend to give you a step-by-step for setting up Allocation and Demand planning for allocation. For this info, refer to Best Practices.

COPA - How to add table when create new characteristic

Hi all,
I want to create new characteristic in COPA, that is batch (as currently, FG's price is manged by batch).
I find that this value is maintain in table VBRP. However, when I create new characteristic, I dont is this table in current list.
Please tell me how can I add this table ?
Step by step what I did is:
1.KEA5: create new characteristic
2. enter characteristic name
3. choose "transfer from SAP table"
4. because it doesnt have table VBRP in the this, so I type directly "Table Fields --> Table"
5. Systems show mesg "Enter valid reference table"

Pls check the SAP Note 111232 which gives similar solution that of you are looking for...
Follow the procedure...
Please create a characteristic by transferring it from table VBRP and
then change the automatically from system defined TKEZU entries like
the note 111232 explains.
The way to solve the problem would be to change the assignment
table TKEZU by exchanging VBRP with KOMP in the table name:
(1) Delete the following entry in table TKEZU (you can maintain TKEZU
with view V_TKEZU in transaction SM30):
Characteristic, B Tran, Table, Field name, Offset, Length
(2) Add the following entry to table TKEZU:
Characteristic, B Tran, Table, Field name, Offset, Length
XXXXX KEDR KOMP BWTAR
(3) Generate the environment of your operating concern.

Convert Query to Formula: BexSetData - Create New Characteristic Combinatio

Hello experts,
I try to save data from an excel workbook via formula BexSetData.
When I change only Key Figures and save data, everything works fine.
But when I try to change the value of a characteristic, the result of the BexSetData-Formula is #NV. This is just the case when I change the characteristic value to a value which doesn't exist in the cube. If I change to an characterisitc combination, which already exist on the cube, everything works fine.
Is it possible to create new charecteristic combinations by using BexSetData?
Master Data is available for the characteristic value.

the master data for the characterisitc values already exist.
but there is no data record in the cube with the same characterisitc combination.
example:
The following data is on the cube
Plan   |   Period      |     Key Figure
A       |   012.2009 |         1000
Now I want to create a new data record on the cube with a new Period (master data exist in info object) via BexSetData
Plan   |   Period         | Key Figure
A       |   012.2010    |      1000

Creating new characteristic in Process Instruction Sheet

I need to create new characteristics and i want them to appear on the PI sheet. i.e in the txn CO58. How do I do it?

Dear Neeraj,
First Define Char in O25C or CT04. Now check which Process Instruction Category You are using. You can check all PI categories in O12C. Now assign it under Characteristics/Process instruction category.

CO-PA new characteristic from table VBRP

Hi experts,
i need create new characteristic in CO-PA. I want to have in CO-PA characteristic from invoice - field - Country of destination of sales order (field LLAND_AUFT, table VBRP). Table VBRP is not in allowed reference tables in CO-PA when i create this. And user defined have not reference for table. How can i do it?

Instead of RSA1, use RSD1 to create Characteristics & Key figure.
1. Go to transaction, select radio button for respective info object i mean Char ot key fig.
2. Enter name of the same & click on create transaction.
3. Suppose it will ask for APO or BW then select APO for key fig. so some new functionality come in to key fig. like key fig. fixing etc.
4. always copy new key fig. or characteristics from standard.
5. after creation activate the key figure.
Hope this steps will help you to create Char. & key fig.

How can i add a new characteristic to Sap standard InfoObject?

Please anyone let me know how can I add a new characteristic or a key figure into an SAP standard InfoObject in order to add it to the standard InfoCube? The situation is I would like to add region and business unit to the characteristics of the Industrial Hygiene and Safety. After that, I would like to add them to the InfoCube called Accidents: Person Involved [0EIH_C02] that is located in the MultiProvider called Accidents: Complete View [0EIH_MC01]. Is it feasible to do this way?
I just learned the BW/BI, so please help me with this. I would really appreciate your responses.

Hi Napadol,
To add a attribute in a char:
1) Go to info object/char in change mode and add the additional attribute you want and select navigational attribute in attribute tab if you want. (Create these additional attribute first in info object catalouge)
2) Activate the Object/Char
3) open info cube in change mode and pick the characteristic from left panel to info cube dimension.
4) Activate infocube.
5) Go to multi provider add the char in one of the dimension and do identification for this char and activate.

Error while creating new release groups in PO release strategy

Hi All
I was creating a release procedure for PO and after completing steps, Create Characteristic and Create class & while creating new release grp with the class created i am not able to save it and the error message is (ME492) is" Only one release class should be used within the release groups for overall release...".
But i am able to create from an already existing CLASS and able to proceed further.( Note: I am using the training module and in the learning stage.)

**Edit Class     After creation of characteristic, create class for release purchase order. In which you can take reference of Class Type: - 032,Status: - Release,Class group: - Release strategy class,And put reference of your characteristic, which are created by you in first step.E.g: - Class - REL_PO**
*Define Release Procedure of purchase order     In this step four processes involved.o     Release Groupso     Release Codeso     Release indicatoro     Release Strategies*
Now see each steps of Define release procedure of purchase order in briefly: -

Than create purchase order for purchasing group, which you assign in classification of release strategy. Enter your values of purchase order and click on check button release strategy executed in your purchase order.

Is it possible to add new characteristic to CCM catalog SRM_EXTRACTED_CTLG?

Hi Experts,
Any idea if I can transfer new extra data from the SRM product master into CCM? (via program BBP_CCM_TRANSFER_CATALOG)
So I want to add a new characteristic (e.g. ZVALUEPRICE) to the catalog SRM_EXTRACTED_CTLG and fill it with the valuation price.
According to BAdI BBP_CCM_CHAR_MAINT it should be possible:
"When you transfer SRM product data to SAP Catalog Content Management (SAP CCM), this BAdI enables you to also transfer additional item characteristics contained in the product master data in SAP Enterprise Buyer. These characteristics are then available in the SRM product catalog in SAP CCM."
But I'm getting errors like: "Value assigned to ZVALPRICE is not valid-locale NL/ is not possible".
Any idea how I should set this up? Or if I'm doing anything wrong?
I know the valuation price is also filled in /CCM/PRICE, but I want to map the content into a different field. And change the mapping of original created field is not possible.

Turns out that when we don't add a language code to the code, the problem is resolved. So currently I'm able to add the information to a new field in CCM catalog SRM_EXTRACTED_CTLG

Get the report layouts from the business.
Try to limit the data set to a minimum in the report. Decide with the business what chars they would like to have in the variable screen.
Discuss and decide with your users what they want by default to appear in the report output. The rest of the chars could be put in Free chars and could be drilled down.
Check if users have to be restricted to some characteristic values. You would need to create authorization objects and attach these to users. Get the list of users and what chars and values they need authorizations for.
1. Try to avoid Exclusions in RKFs/selections as these degrade performance. Try to include char values instead.
2. Check if query read mode is set to H - read while navigating and expanding hier (RSRT --> properties). This way the entire dataset is not read from the database at once.
3. A lot of navigational attributes also affect performance. See if you can add it as char in the backend and read master data while loading.

Creating new PCR Scenario in ABAP Workbench

Hi everyone,
I'm trying a lot to create a new scenario for the PCR functionality of Manager Self Service but I'm having some problems.
I enter in the transaction QISRSCENARIO and create a new adobe form from scratch. I created some characteristic and made a bind with some texts fields that I have created in the Adobe forms. But, here is the problem, only the PERNR characteristic it's displayed. Others like ENAME, ORGEH isn't working. Is that any other thing that I need to do to be able do display this characteristic??

Hi Daniel,
Yes that's right. ISRs provide a generic framework for form processing, but you still have to add any form-specific processing such as:
Data reads
Validations
Additional functions/buttons
You may be able to reuse (by adding your scenario to the BADI filter) or copy the code from the standard scenario of course. Just check out the matching BADI implementation for the standard scenario.

Consistent planning
Level-by-level planning
Delta planning
and aggregation type
1. Average calculated
2. Total created
3. No aggregation

Hi Thorsten,
the planning query I use is using characteristic relationships. There are no free characteristics.
All characteristics are somehow derived by relationship or restricted with single values via variables.
I tried to define the planning kpi as no disaggregation, but even though it doesn´t work.
The query is ready for input and I can enter, recalculate and save the data.
But I got the kpi in the rows and as soon as I drag the key figure into the columns it is working.

Upload file can hae following structure:

Create new characteristics for existing release strategies

Dear experts,
Whenever I have a roll-out, I have to create a new characteristic that is the purchase order value in local currency, that is to be assigned to the class used for the Release Strategies of purchase orders.
The problem is that whenever I do this, all the existing release strategies have an additional characteristic to be maintained. Since I have more than 1.500 release strategies, I have to go through each one of them and except for the new release strategies, put >= zero in this new characteristic.
Is there any way, that whenever I create this new characteristics, I can define a default value that will be assigned to every existing release strategies in the system?
I've tried to use the default value, but it only works when I'm introducing the characteristics values for the first time in the release strategies.
Any ideas?
