Creating new post office / Agent on new server
I am currently running all of my GroupWise 2014 system on the a SLES 11 SP3 server with EXT3 drives. I am needing to move my domain and post office onto an NSS drive for my backup software to be able to restore back on a per user/message basis. So I have created a new OES 11 SP2 server and have created an NSS drive to hold my new domain and Post office.
Since I am not well versed at OES / GroupWise I thought it would be easier to create a secondary domain and Post office on my new NSS drive and move everyone onto the new post office and remove the old post office after everything has been moved.
However, I have created the secondary domain and it is linked and open but I can not startup a new post office linked to the secondary domain. I get the following error:
*com.novell.gw.directory.exception.GwCommunication Exception: An error occurred modifying an attribute value. Path not found (0x8209); remaining name 'nssdom.post-nss'
What could be causing this?
Sincerely,
Ken
Thanks for continuing to help me on this issue. This is the out of the ll command.

Error when try to create new server pool
I want to create new server pool to the server manager.
At the last step of confirmation,it failed.error message is as follows:
An error occurred while creating working directories for the server pool. Ensure that at least one utility server exists in the server pool and both the username and password for the utility server are correct.
I think all the server info is correct. But I don't know why.
Thanks,
MaryIn my case, the VM Server was set to use DHCP. Once I reconfigured the interface to use a static address, I was able to successfully create the Server Pool.
Documentation should be reflected to clarify this. -
GW Monitor and multiple post office agents on one Netware 6.5Server
HI,
I've not been successful getting GW Monitor (7 sp3) to recognize a PO as "known". Regardless of the setting I put in monitor.xml for the port assignment (1677), the thing reverts to port "0". This server is running a MTA only post office agent and a client post office agent. These may be related. Interestingly, the MTA IP configurations are:
MTA only post office agent:
Inbound - 165.91.107.28:7100 (My Note on this - this is from agmail MTA to agents POA which is IP ...28 and listens on 7100)
Outbound - 165.91.106.93:7101 (My Note on this - this is agents POA to agmail MTA which is ip ...93 and listens on 7101)
Client only post office agent:
Inbound - 165.91.107.28:7102 (My Note on this - this is from agents POA/MTA to agents POA only which is IP ...28 and listens on 7102)
Outbound - 165.91.106.93:7101 (My Note on this - this is agents POA only to agmail MTA which is ip ...93 and listens on 7101)
Maybe I should make the outbound for the client only post office agent to be:
Outbound - 165.91.107.28:7100
In any event, we need GW Monitor to report on the status of the POA at 1677 on the Agents server. Any ideas?
Thanks MikeMike Gerst wrote:

Well, first of all the Monitor should be looking for 7101 for the MTA, 7100
for the first POA and 7102 for the second POA if indeed this is how you have
it set up. Are you sure you purposefully change the POA to listen on 7100
and put the MTA on 7101? That is confusing :) - most sites have the MTA at
the default of 7100, and the first POA at 7101, so it just looks weird to me
- but it's perfectly "okay" to change them if you want to - but just
confusing for long-time GW admins/consultants.

The Post Office Agent might not be configured for SOAP.
I have a virtual server with VMware ESXi 5 running SLES11 sp1, OES11 and GroupWise 12.
The GroupWise system have one domain and one post office with several users.
The users can access the mailbox with the GroupWise Windows Client, but when they try to login in the GroupWise Webaccess, they get the following error: "[9505] Your post office is unavailable. The Post Office Agent might not be configured for SOAP. Please contact your system administrator".
1.- The post office agent have the SOAP option turned on.
2.- I check the java environment variables and they are pointing to the right directory.
3.- The Linux Firewall is turned off.
4.- rcapache2 start and rctomcat6 start dont show errors.
5.- I check the webacc.cfg file and all IPs address and ports (POA & DVA) are fine.
Any help, comment or suggestion will be welcome.

OVM 3.0.3: Create new Server Pool but keep storage repositories?
Hi,
I think I have somewhat messed up my Server pool a bit, such as that there are some kind of network bridges in the server pool which I cannot get rid of, since OVMM insists that these have vnics associated to them, when none of my VMs had any nic configured.
So, I guess my only option is to re-create the server pool entirely and migrating VMs between server pools doesn't seem to be possible. I was wondering, I if could at least keep the storage repositories and get away with only creating a new server pool and adding the VM servers to the new pool, but keeping the VM files in the repositories. This will likely make this transition much more smooth, than having to copy all the VMs from the repositories onto a temporary storage and back into the new storage repositories.
Cheers,

Check the network configuration of the templates installed into your repositories and change the bridges to real/proper ones. Once you've done that, you'll be able to delete the unusued bridges.

It's possible to change this, but you need to contact Oracle Support to do so. I'd recommend first trying to unmap the existing bridges as described above. -

C042 error after update of post office agent
hi folks
SR is opened but no progress in resolution
there are a couple of huge user mailboxes where after the POA update the sync of the content of the online mailbox to remote or caching constantly fails with c042 errors
the result is that several folders of the folder structure are missing after sync is finished and tons of e-mail sitting in the missing folders are not available
they have done the test with one huge mailbox to move all mails to the archive, delete the user mailbox from the groupwise system, recreate the user and his mailbox using the old groupwise id and put back all e-mails from the archive, the problem with the c042 trying to use caching or remote mailbox is still there
POA runs on Windows, in my perception Novell is not able to fix the problem because it is some weird file lock problem with some database files occurring only with the underlying Windows 2008 R2 platform with the POA files on NTFS flie system
if any other customer that has been subject of the issue found some workaround please advise asap, the customer is freakin' out completely because some of the big bosses with the biggest mailboxes are affected and to work online on the fat mailbox is a pain because of the poor performanceIn article <[email protected]>, Oackerma wrote:

I'm sure support has gone through a bunch of this, but check again to be
sure.
Make sure you don't have any antivirus of any sort running against any
of the GroupWise data files. If in doubt, turn off any antivirus for a
while as a test.
What else is running on this server?
How much of RAM and CPU are being used on the server? Are they maxing
out?
Anything in the event logs?
What is the hardware under than NTFS volume? SAN, NAS, or DASD. Flash vs
spinning. FC, SAS, or SATA? RAID level/controller?
Which build of the POA are you running?
Are the errors showing to the user or in the POA logs?
Do you have routine maintenance running?

Haven't seen that before... did you change both the authentication source (if needed) as also the Groupwise POA address in your GMS configuration?
Which version & what platform GMS, and which version of Groupwise are you using? -
Creating secondary linux domain & post office @ another city
I have a primary domain and post office in one city. Consoleone, shows them on my NSS volumes as /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/domain and /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/po
I created a new domain for another city, and gave it UNC pathing \\portland\MAIL\groupwise\domainnc. It did create the domain in eDirectory, but made a file structure under /mnt called /mnt/portland/MAIL/groupwise/domainnc. Not sure about what was going on with that, I copied the directory structure and all the files from there to the proper location of the portland server, started the domain and it fired up. Both domains showed that each other was up, communicating presumably entirely by IP.
I loaded ConsoleOne on the portland server and can see both domains.
So far so good.
When I created the new portland post office on the primary domain server, it did the exact same thing, making a /mnt/portland/MAIL/groupwise/ponc file structure, which again I copied to the portland server.
when I fired up the post office on the portland server, it did start and sat there looking like a post office (I did the --show option in linux), however none of the domains seem to recognize that there is a running post office. In fact, my domain in portland doesn't even know that it has a post office. It says that it sees another domain, but that it has 0 post offices configured so far. Consoleone on the portland server does not show a post office for portland.
ConsoleONe on the primary groupwise server does show the post office or I should say did, last friday. Today (Sunday) it's not there anymore.
I suspect my problem has something to do with mounting the file system of the portland server on the primary domain/post office server, but I'm unclear how those commands work.
Also, I'm unclear as to why I really need that if everything communciates via TCP/IP. Seems like it's only the portland server that physically needs to know about the post office physical file location. When I try using unc pathing (i.e. \\server\volume\location) ConsoleOne changes it to /mnt/server/volume/location.
Trying to find a concise document on this, but haven't found it yet.
Any ideas?In article <[email protected]>, Johnehurst wrote:

If no instance of ConsoleOne see the new PostOffice anymore, it might be
time to recreate again, but this time do so on the server that you are
creating it for with that instance of ConsoleOne.
As for addressing within ConsoleOne for the Domains and PostOffices, make
sure they are pointing to the real location of the files
So for your Portland server/domain/postoffice
/media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/domainnc
/media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/ponc
The only real reason for those file pointers are for the agents (MTA &
POA) to see their files, so the format needs to in relation to where the
agents are running. Everything else should be over IP.

According to your description, my understanding is that you failed to create a new farm.
It seems that several issues exist in IIS. Please go to IIS manager > each site > advanced settings > general > ID to see if it is beyond int32 range or includes non-number value. Besides, please reset IIS and reboot the SQL server.
Please have a try to create new farm with power shell.

[9505] Your Post Office is Unavailable.
Recently migrated Groupwise 2012 services from a single box to a split system with PO, Domain, and Monitor on one box and the GWIA, Webaccess & secondary domain on the second box. All seems well, except *some* users (not all, only a handful) are receiving the following message when logging into webaccess:
[9505] Your Post Office is Unavailable. The Post Office Agent might not be configured for SOAP. Please contact your system administrator.
Checking the webaccess logs reveals the following error:
8:11:43, <SOAP>, -, INFO, [username], Login
8:11:43, <SOAP>, -, INFO, [username], Unable to connect to the POA @ http://10.1.10.35:7191/soap
10.1.10.35 is the IP of the previous POA - the new POA is 10.1.10.135
SOAP appears to be configured properly and other users are not having any problems. Why just these users?
Thanks!IP is correct in the webacc.cfg file - though not sure why the last line is commented out. Again, only some users are affected.
Provider.SOAP.1.ip=10.1.10.135
Provider.SOAP.1.port=7191
#Provider.SOAP.1.url=/soap
Checked the TID 7012354. There was no garbage character that I could see, but the Display Name in the General Options was entirely blank. I put the user's Display Name in the field and restarted Webaccess and that user can login now. Wow. Weird.
I then tried another user that was getting the same error - turns out that user's Display Name is blank as well (I didn't make any changes), but it didn't matter - they could log in to webaccess fine - so now wondering if restarting webaccess was all that was needed in the first place? It's not making much sense. Why is this only happening to a few users? Why do some users have a blank display name under those general options? I only enabled the POP3 & IMAP online settings for those specific users and then checked via their client for the Account settings. Looks to be a tough setting to verify for 2000+ users if it can only be accessed via the user's client login.
I went back and unchecked the POP3 & IMAP Online setting for those users and restarted webaccess... everything still appears ok. so just weird.
Will have to monitor for additional user complaints - otherwise, looks now.
Thanks! -
WTF?!? Can you please remove the need to have a SDD to create new post offices??? Please?! It is a real pain in the ass when we are trying to setup secondary Post Office at remote locations, especially in clusters... PLEASE CHANGE THIS! Thank you!
Now to my question, how can I create a Post Office that does not have access to a SDD and will not have access to one and please don't tell me that I need to set one up because at remote locations over WAN lines it'll will be a nightmare and cost the customer a fortune and then the customer will not be happy and their mgmt is already *****ing about wanting to migrate to Exch (can't even spell it out)? Actually, almost all of my customers do not have and do not want an sdd.... Now, I understand the idea behind an sdd and think it's a good concept, It's just not needed in most environments and in the environments where it is not needed and/or wanted then please make an alternative install method for po's...
Thanks for your assistance and time.

For things like that, I have a copy run on a system I can disconnect
from and leave to run on its own in the background.
I've done this for terabytes of data and I've found that the SDD works
well for that.

Creating new post office in existing domain
I am trying to create a new post office in an existing domain. I am confused on the agent install screen. I am selecting Add, Post Office and giving it a name, then the path to the database is where I need help. Is this the path where I am installing the new post office or is it the path to my domain?
The problem is that when I finish the install and launch to poa, it canot find wphost.db. I do not see it either on the new server.* rsilvey,
the PO database.
Just follow the instructions:
