Creating Non Copyable PDF document in Portal
Hi,
In our portal we save and Print report to PDF. Now business requires that the some of the PDF documents cannot be copyable by the users.
Is this technically possible to do and how can achieve it.
thanks
Bhat
Hello Bhat,
How is the PDF document getting generated? Is it a Smartform or from ADS? I think it is technically possible to limit what the end user can do with the actual PDF. But if you are displaying a PDF to the user on the screen, the users can always take a screenshot and print the screen, unless you remove the Print screen functionality So, how are you going to get away with this?
Regards,
Gopal.

How can you create a writable PDF document from a PPT presentation ?
How can you create a writable PDF document from a PPT presentation ? Upper part with the image , lower part with a free space in order to take notes for students during presentation or course.
Thanks.
BYou can make a PDF file out of you notes and handouts but using the Adobe PDF printer.
Open your PowerPoint Document then go to “File” “Print”
Select ‘Adobe PDF” Printer
Under slides, select which way you want to print. Note it will not print to a printer but to a PDF file.
After then go into printer Properties and Setup PDF properties, do the following: (see second image below)
Default: PDF/A 1-b
Adobe Security: none (change as needed)
Adobe Output folder: Prompt for Adobe file name
Adobe Page size: Letter (change as needed)
Check the following check boxes
View Adobe PDf Results,
Add Document Information,
Rely on system fonts only,
Delete Log files for successful jobs.
Select OK
A pop will ask you where you want to save the document. The file extension should be PDF. After giving the file name select okay and the file should popup as a PDF. Down side is if you want to speaker notes included then you will have to do another file, like wise with just screen shots then combine into one PDF document.
I used Acrobat IX Pro. So to do this you need Acrobat IX or X Pro.
Hope this will help.

I've created a fillable PDF document in XI Pro. I need to change the body of the document and create a new fillable PDF document. When I do that it won't let me create a new PDF. It keeps saying "no new fields recognized. What can I do to redo my document with the changes in the text, but no changes in the fillable fields?
You start with a source / authoring file for the "static" content (e.g., Name, Last:). Say this is an MS Word file.
You master the "static" content..
You keep this authoring file and have a backup of this file.
You output a PDF and use Acrobat to build and fine tune the "form" (form = the form fields, not the "static" content).
The authoring file and output PDF (with form fields) gives you "rev 00".
Now, you must change something in the "static" content.
Open the authoring file and save as to a new version (e.g., "wordfile_v00" becomes "wordfile_v01).
Output this to "pdffile_v01".
Use Acrobat to open the PDF form file "pdffile_v00". Save As to a new file name ("pdffile_v00update").
Using Acrobat XI Pro the click-path Tools - Pages - Replace lets you replace a page or pages of "pdffile_v00update" with a page or pages from "pdffile_v01".
This replaces the "static" PDF page content and does not affect the form fields on the page.
(you may have to adjust position of form fields)
Save "pdffile_v00update" to "pdffile_v01" to reflect the revised status of the PDF form file.

Creating Chapters in PDF documents?
How do you create chapters in PDF documents, similar to the way Apple has done it with their user manual PDFs on the support section?
Hi Allen,
I spent a bit of time looking at your interesting query, but am afraid I cannot find any solution to it.
If you want to send the document via email, and therefore need the hyperlink, your best bet might be to send it as an HTML document. I don't know if you can achieve the transformation to an HTML document using traditional SAPScript though, but it is possible with Smartforms.

Hi hagitl14083762,

Appendding page/pages to existing non-empty PDF Document
Hi !
I am trying to append a page to existing PDF Document without creating new PDF document page.
But I am not able to find the rigtht solution.
I used IText, JPX libraries.
can we append a page/pages to existing PDF document ? if , could you please give any example code....
Thanks in advance..........Thanks Robert,
I meant a "Log In" link in an existing page should NOW redirect to CRM Web UI login page.
My question was, in the existing non-SAP page, should there be some html/javascript code to redirect the user to the CRM Web UI login page URL?...
II don't think it's as simple as <a href="http://www.WEB_UI_URL.com"></a> I will go thru what "URL rewriting" is all about but still wondering what it takes to fulfill the requirement...Coding / server settings etc...
Sorry if repeating myself....

Help With Creating 'Hi-Res' PDF Document?
Hi
I am needing to meet a deadline tomorrow in supplying a magazine publication with a trade advert for my business.
The magazine editor tells me he requires my advert to be emailed to him in 'HI-RES PDF FORMAT, 300 DPI'.
Currently, my advert is a simple MICROSOFT WORD document, which is printed out for flyers etc. It is acceptable quality for my needs. I have very little knowledge at this point of making my advert into 'HI-RES PDF'.
However, I do have access to ADOBE ACROBAT V9.0 PRO EXTENDED, and understand I can use this to create the document that is required?
My main questions at this point are, where do I begin researching how to turn my current WORD document into the '300 DPI HI-RES' picture that is required? What is the process involved? How do I go about 'creating a hi-res picture' from my humble Word document?
What I don't understand at the moment is, the difference between me emailing the magazine my Word document in its current .doc form, and needing to involve Adobe Acrobat to achieve 'best quality' HI-RES/300 DPI. Do I need to make my Word document into PDF to improve its quality?
Totally new to this, would greatly appreciate any help/advice.I wish I had more time to spend getting up to speed on these issues, unfortunately the deadline looms tomorrow [new business, urgent last minute advertising and all that]. I expect to have a genuine hi-res advert ready for next month's issue - in the meanime, Aandi, how would you recommend I best go about things from what I have, or can modify/recreate fairly quickly?
Guidlines given by magazine publication: 'Hi-Res PDF Document, 300DPI, 12cm W x 9cm H
OK, my advert in Word is mostly black text on a white background, and there is a colour picture in it [to help illustrate my services]. So the picture is not 300dpi hi-res, I accept that, and I accept it will not be printed in the magazine necessarily any better than I can manage from my inkjet printer.
But considering the magazine is a glossy, hi-res publication, surely the picture will not be printed in any WORSE quality than I can get out of my cheap £80 printer? If I know what to expect, I know how I can play around with the current lo-res images I have at my disposal.
There are a number of options I currently have to replace the picture in my advert, and some have a deliberately 'hazy' look to them already - I am thinking perhaps pictures with this kind of styling which are far from 300 DPI anyway would be a better choice? At least in the printing reproduction, the degrasion would not look like a cheap 'error' but rather simply the style of the picture?
And what about my Word TEXT? Forgetting pictures for the moment, will the all important text parts of my advert reproduce as good as I can get them in 'best' quality from my printer?
What I am aiming for this evening, is once I have decided upon the kind of lo-res picture [if any] I am including in my advert, allowing for degrasion because it is not 300 DPI, can I then concentrate on the TEXT information and still work on this within MICROSOFT WORD before submitting it to Adobe Acrobat and producing the PDF document? I do not have to do anything special to the text at any point to make it 'high resolution'?
Thank you again for your help so far. -

How to create a new pdf-document in cfolder
I'm trying to add, via an abap program, a new Pdf-document as a document in the cfolder-environment. Has anyone information on currently available standard Abap-classes/functions that can be used to do this. If possible some code excerpts that clearly show how to do it.
The data to be used to create this PDF is stored in an internal table created by the function module 'CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF'.
Edited by: Van Gorp Jan on Oct 25, 2010 3:02 PMWhat is the result of running this code from the console window:
this.setPageBoxes("Media",this.pageNum,this.pageNum,this.getPageBox("Crop",this.pageNum));
this.getPageBox("Media",this.pageNum);
is the new Media Box the same as the Crop? It should be.

CI versus Non CI PDF documents
is there a way to determine a CI versus Non-CI format PDF document without having to open it first? Ie is this information in the file tag? If so how is it read or queried from the file system?
Using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 standardNever heard the term before - love to know where it comes from.
However, to answer your question...No, there is no way to tell without opening the PDF up AND looking at each page. since it's possible that some pages have been OCR'd, but others have not. -
Creating Multiple Page PDF Documents
I am not sure how to creat a multiple page PDF document.
Hi...
There are two ways... i think the Help offers one solution, else do a search on Google (that's how i figured it out).
Alternatively, there's a plugin you can buy called 'Multipage'... just do a search for it...

Use xml file to create a word/pdf document
i have a xml doument created using jdom i need to create a word or a pdf document from this file
is there a way to tackle this using java? or what else would you recomend?Without knowing any details, I would guess that you have a couple of options;
Parse the xml using SAX or some similar tool and use the data recovered to create the document using an existing API; HWPF for example would allow you to create a simple Word documnet or, if you were much braver, you could use the SWT to 'drive' Word using OLE/COM.
If you are very lucky and the xml document conforms to the format Word has recently begun to recognise, you could just try opening the document in Word using the Desktop class.
As far as I am aware, there is no one tool that will do all of this for you. Of course, you could try using Google of visiting Sourceforge to see if anyone is working on such an application. -
