Creating normal maps in Photoshop Elements

I know there are plug-ins for Photoshop CS to create normal maps and .dds files, but is there one for Elements? I have Elements, and would like to avoid buying CS just for one feature

Something like the nvidia plugin? (which should work in elements on windows if you use the 32 bit plugin)

How can I create DVD label using Photoshop Elements 10?
    Richard

You can create the design for a DVD label in Create>More Options. Once you have the label set up, you would copy it to a template for the labels you plan to use. (The PSE template makes one label, while most printed labels are two-up.)

  • Can you create cd sleeves in Photoshop Elements please?

    Hi,
Can you create cd sleeves in Photoshop Elements please?
Or is there a software that can create cd sleeves, using a template perhaps?
I can print my own cd inserts (jewel box) but want to create a card cd sleeve.
    Many thanks,
    Ric

Thanks all - this has been a real eye-opener. There are companies out there who will design & print cd sleeves for you so the tech is obviously there somewhere, but apparently not for home users.
    Never mind.
In Adobe Elements 8 I can crop or size my own art work how I want it then set the Win7 default printer programme to print say 4 identical images to A4 which when divided up will fit a typical cd sleeve. If i pop adhesive paper into the inkjet i can then stick my cd art work onto the card sleeves. I will buy these but you could make them. So there is a way round this one, it just takes a bit of head scratching?

  • Problem with collection names getting replaced when creating new collections in Photoshop Elements 5.0

We have been using Photoshop Elements 5.0 a lot lately to organize many photos into collections.  A new problem just arose when creating a new collection.
As we named the new collection and clicked on "OK" it replaced another existing collection with the new name.  The photos from the old collection were still there but now under the new collection name.  This happened at least three or four times, each time a different "old" collection was renamed.  Does anyone know why this would happen?
This past week we have added at least 20 new collections with no problem prior to this.  Adobe actually had to shut down when this happened.  Each time we reopened Adobe it would happen again randomly renaming a different "old" collection when we tried to add the new one.  Any insights would be much appreciated.

Thank you - that was the problem and now it is working correctly
    again!

  • Can Anyone Tell Me How to Create Greeting Cards with Photoshop Elements 7 or 8?

I need a 7x10 page setup so that when the card is folded to a 5x7 my photo is landscape on the outside of the card.  Currently I can only find a 8 1/2 x 11 paper size.
    Thanks,

In Photoshop Elements 8 Editor, go to the Create tab, and you will see Greeting card, with 5x7 page size.

  • Useless Map in Photoshop Elements 7, 8, and 9

I use Windows 7, and have 4 GB RAM, a 2 GHz dual-core processor, and lots of hard drive space.  In Photoshop Elements 7, 8, and 9 the mapping function is completely useless.  Sometimes the pins on the map just flash at me.  When I try to magnify a certain section, the map image just refreshes.  I am terribly frustrustred by the fact that Adobe advertises that the map function can help organize my photos when it doesn't work at all.  I can pin tags to a location by searching for that location, and I can see a longitude and latitude on the tags.  But when I use "show on map" nothing happens.
    Any solutions out there?

I'd be happy to hear an answer to this. I've been use PSE 7 and was going to upgrade to 9 but the show on map functionality is even more broken in 9. My hardware setup and the behavior I see is the same as the original poster. I'm also surprised to see that maps from 2006 are still being used.  Unrelated to this, in PSE9, if you show images on the category tags there is entirely too much whitespace and the text is cropped well short of the ride side of the window and there is tons of whitespace around the text.  Given these issues, I guess I'll stick with 7 or look for something else.

  • Creating Slide Shop in Photoshop Elements

I want to import a large number of approximately 500 digital images into Photoshop Elements and create a slide show. When I import the images from the Windows Explorer folder, the order of the images is different from my order arrangement before importing. This is a matter of a lot of images that have been rearranged. I have tried Multiple Image Processing to put the desired images in numerical order, but this does not help. Does anyone know how to retain the image order when importing into Photoshop Elements (or either Premier Elements)? Thanks

    >Does anyone know how to retain the image order when importing into Photoshop Elements (or either Premier Elements)?
Do you have all of these images files for the slide show in the same Windows folder? And does the file name sequence designate the order in which you wish the photos to be shown in the slide show?
I am guessing that the answer to both questions is yes, because that is usually the case when people have prepared photos for a slide show before they import the photos to Elements.
    For Photoshop Elements,
    - start a
    b Collection
to contain these photos for the slide show. Use Collection tab next to the Tag tab and do a New Collection.
    - in the photo well that shows all the thumbnails, look in the lower left hand corner for a pull down box and choose
    b Folder Location View
    - find the folder that contains these photos within the folder location view and multiple Select all of the photos within this folder
    - place these photos in the Collection by dragging and dropping the Collection icon on one of these selected photos. (Note all of these photos for the slide show must be selected at the same time while in the folder view) ,
    - to display just the photos of that Collection, click on the box next to the Collection name
    - select all the photos of the Collection and use the Create icon to start the slide show process.
With this process your photos then take their sequence for the slide show from the sequence of the Collection, which will actually be the file name sequence you created in that folder. (However, If you add more photos to the collection at a later time they add to the end and you will then need to drag and drop the new photos to the position you wish them to be.)
    For Premiere Elements,
Still presuming that your answers to my questions at the beginning were yes and you have a file name sequence, I think that you can add that folder to the Premiere Elements Media Panel. When you do the Create Slideshow dialog, I think that Premiere Elements uses the file name sequence to determine the sequence of the slides.
    Two general considerations
1 - whether you make the slide show in Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements, you should make the choice for default slide duration and for default transition before you start making the slide show. This is especially important for Premiere Elem where you can not do a blanket change on all slides.
2- with 500 slides, you will potentially need to downsize the resolution of your photo files before making the slide show in either product. Suggest that you post typical pixel dimensions or the megapixel resolution of your photo files. Also, what do you anticipate will be the duration of your slide show ? Will you write it to a DVD and play it on a TV?

    Yes, it is.
The easiest way for me is access the custom shape tool,  and within that the Symbols library. You will find the copy right sign. Just drag it out. It will be on its own layer. Enter the rest of the info with the Type tool.
The symbol can also be found in the character map on a Windows system.
If you have multiple photos that you wish to mark, it is very efficient to make a copyright brush and apply  with a  click of the mouse.

If you normally open with Organizer perhaps it is encountering a corrupt image in its cached folder on opening.
I just installed PSE 10 and set up a shortcut to go right to the full editor. See if that works for you.
If you have a lot of disk activity on starting, more than usual, previously installing certain plug-ins requires PSW to rebuild its cache system where these are stored.
In Organizer if you can set a preference to not open up the last folder used automagically, you might get it to start. Then when selecting folders to browse you can note which folder causes a crash. If you start the editor directly perhaps in preferences you'll find an Organizer setting to try this out.

Are there any .mkv files in your organizer catalog. The module which is crashing is possibly trying to analyze those files. Please turn off Media Analysis in Edit >> Pref >> Media analysis in Organizer and see if the issue happens.
For more on this see- http://forums.adobe.com/message/5127862
Also, I would suggest posting this issue in Premiere Elements Forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements for a better solution to the issue.

  • Deleting Adobe sign in Photoshop Elements

PSE 13 is requiring I sign in to Adobe every time I start the program.  This is really aggravating and an invasion of my privacy.  It is none of Adobe's business when I am using the program.

I purchased a retail CD of PSE 13.  This was not a download.
I logged on to my Adobe ID account and PSE 13 is NOT LISTED in my list of programs.  However, when I attempted to register it (I couldn't remember if I had previously registered it) by entering the serial number I received message that it (PSE 13) was already registered!  There appears to be something wrong with the Adobe registration process and this might be why I keep getting the message to login every time I start PSE.  How can this be corrected?
Also, I noticed that your preceding email has my original Adobe login name - "D Salk".  However, when requested to login now, the login entry requires my email address and password.  This password is different than the one used with "D Salk".  I don't understand what is going on.  Over the years I have had to change my password several times because I kept getting messages that my "user name and password did not match".  It seemed like I needed different user name and password to login to different parts of the Adobe website, e.g., Adobe Support different from Adobe Forum.  I do not like the new format where my full name is associated with my account that is why I originally used D Salk.  In the current Adobe ID login process the, "My Account" option does not permit me to change my name.  Please advise if there is either some way to delete my full name or, if not, how to DELET ALL ADOBE ACCOUNTS.
The previous email I sent you showed that the Print Screen of the Login message was attached.  Maybe it did not transmit for some reason.  I am attaching it to this email again.  Check at the end of these emails.  That is where the PNG file is currently displayed on my monitor.

    Hi DSalk,
    1. The above information is fine about architecture.
    2. After downloading application when you install it on your PC then it ask for two options i.e. Run in trial and License this software. It allows you to run application for 30 days in trial mode then it ask to enter serial number. You can license PSE any time if you have serial number. When you enter serial number and register it then your application is serialized.
    3. I think, snapshot you didn't attach.
    Thanks,
    Raushan
