Creating ofBOM & Material SAP PLM  instead of R3

Dear All
  Please tell me
what is the benefit of creation of  BOM & material in SAP PLM Instead of R/3?
waitnig for reply
thank you
Ravindra Saraf

Hi Ravindra,
The benefits are manyfold.
1. You can easily track the development cycle of a product right from its concept development to its productionization.
2. Many development centres are outsourced in recent times, so in absence of R/3 installation the data can be well created, maintained and utilized through PLM portal.
3. Seamless integration of ERP and PLM, taking it upto SCM.
4. Reduced dependency on other stakeholders creating the same data with different access.
Hope this answers your query.

Nishit

    Hi, Gurus
Please tell how we link SAP PLM C-folder & SAP DMS?
If there is any link please for this.
how we integrate SAP PLM -C-Folder with SAP DMS?
if anyone know answer if give me solution.
    Ravindra

    Hi,
    1. Create RFCs between SAP PLM and SAP DMS servers using by tcode 59.
    2. Once connection established, then you can transfer tha data from PLM- cProject suits to DMS.
    3. You can also transfer tha data from cProject suite to DMS or vice versa through web.
You can ask to your BASIS team.

  • Is it possible to create a Material Group Hierarchy in SAP ECC?

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a Material Group Hierarchy (not a Product Hierarchy) in SAP ECC.
I've read some discussions about this theme:
    MM Material group hierarchy ?
but still I'm sure if it is possible to create a Material Group Hierarchy  in SAP ECC or if it is only an IS Retail functionality.
    Thanks in advance,
    Luis.

  • Multiple AutoCAD files in one DIR using Cideon integration to SAP PLM

    Hi,
We are testing the AutoCAD integration with SAP PLM and so far have been unable to figure out how to work with a DIR that has multiple autocad originals.  Specifically, an individual AutoCAD file for each sheet of a multi sheet drawing.   Has anybody done this before?  Using a different document part for each drawing sheet is not an option for us.
    Thanks,
    Joseph Whiteley

    Hello again,
The available standard 3rd party connector for AutoCAD doesn't support the functionality you have mentioned. It will require special custom enhancements available from same vendor which will cost extra bucks. We ended up using the same solution that John suggested. Create only a single DIR for the entire Multi sheet drawing and use the AutoCAD DWG viewer instead of the ECL viewer, I'm not 100% sure but ECL viewer does not support viewing individual sheets of this single drawing. Last I knew on this topic is that SAP is moving away from ECL viewer to Right Hemisphere not sure what happened though! Also having a single DIR will lead to requiring enhancements while using Conversion engine (for PDF conversion).
We still face troubles when it comes to our change process, approval, and  transmittal process.

  • Connecting SAP PLM system to iview portal.

Hi experts i want one clarification on process of connecting SAP PLM system to iview portal.
here my scenario is SAP PLM->>>XI--->>>WEBSERVICES
    RFC-->>XI--->>>>SOAP
1---->>here i have to get the list of all materials from SAP PLM using iview as
    front end tool.
2---->>and the next thing is if the material is camera means it should require the
lengs software for the camera. In the iview we can select the material
    for upgrated software.
3--->>after that the input parameters wil be sent to webservices
(some website) using XI part(mapping and all) and the response should come back then it has
to be stored in the SAP PLM system.
please clear me all the above questions.
    thanks & regards
    babu

    HI,
    See
    1) Request is sent from the Portal.
    2) Web Dynpro application is called through the URL.
    3) Web Dynpro app makes use of Web Service based Model in sending SOAP request to XI.
    4) SOAP adapter converts the incoming SOAP message into XI Message.
    5) Synchronous call is made from XI to R3 backend using RFC adapter.
    6) Response is mapped and routed back as SOAP message.
Necessary design steps in interface objects, mapping objects and Business process are created according to the functional requirements.
Sender Soap Communication channel is setup in Configuration along with other essential configuration steps.
WSDL is generated for the message interface in Integration Directory using Tools-->Define Web service.
Override the default URL with following while generating WSDL.

    Hi,
Refer the SAP Note – 137601
    Or,
You have to upgrade the Kernel. Check the old patch number in ur system, upload the latest patches & down load from Market Place. Consult your Basis Consultant

  • BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE to create a material document for consumable goods

    Hi All,
I am using a BAPi  (BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE) to create a material document using a PO. Please note that the PO contain no material number. It contains short text. The account assignment is being copied in to the MIGO from PO (when i am doing the process manually without BAPI). But when i am using the BAPI at that time i am getting an error as:
    E M7                   036 No goods receipt possible for purchase order 45XXXXXXXXXX 00010 .
Logically this should not happen as  when i do it manually i am able to post MIGO.
Under goods movement header i am giving :
    posting date
    doc date
    text
    goods movement code :
    01
    GOODSMVT_ITEM
    plant
    mov type
    po number
    vendor
    line item
    short text
    cost cenrtre
    order no(int ord no)
    mov indicator: B
    GL account
    base unit of measure
    Where i am going wrong?

    Hi Jurgen
In response to my post where i wrote my observations :
As you have suggested i have removed the account assignment objects and now i am not getting the error as mentioned in my post but at the same time i notice in export parameters  in the bapi the following things which was not present earlier.
    GOODSMVT_HEADRET                   50000xxxxx2014
    MATERIALDOCUMENT                    50000xxxxx
    MATDOCUMENTYEAR                     2014
Now another thing is i am not getting any entry in return table.... which i should get. Please note that my test run contains no values(X).
i think i am near to the solution. Could you suggest any more crucial points i might be missing?"
for this i found out that there is a way to solve this issue. My concern was why the material document was not updating .  Well this is how SAP behaves.
To update it we have to run simultaneously another fm " BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT".  This will update it in the mseg table which in turn will reflect it PO history. So my requirement is answered and fulfilled.
Thank you so much for the replies and cooperation.
    Thank you all.

  • Error while creatting the Material Master IDOC in ERP 2005

    Hello All,
I am trying to create scenario from RFID-Enabled Outbound Processing - Conf Guide (SAP AII 4.0).
I am using Auto ID 4.0 on a NW04s system. The backend is a ERP2005 system.
The scenario requires that I need to create a material in the backend and send it to the NW04s system using IDOCs.
After completing the configuration on the backend, I tried sending the Material Master IDOC to Auto ID from the transaction AIDMM. I get a message that IDOC is just being created. But I could not find it in the transaction WE02.
On debugging I found that the function MARD_GENERIC_READ_MATNR_PLANT resulted in error.
Thanks for any kind of input.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Dear,
    Check ABAPer for file settings.
    - CANNOT_SKIP_ATTRIBUTE_RECORD : The attributes could not be read in the EPS parcel. The file cannot be opened for reading, because it may have been deleted in the meantime.
    - CANNOT_DETERMINE_EPS_PARCEL : The EPS parcel is not in the EPS Inbox, because it may have been deleted. You must download the relevant patch again (for example, Hot Package).
    - CANNOT_DETERMINE_DATA_FILES : The name of a data file could not be determined, because a profile parameter was not correctly configured. Check the settings using the report RSPARAM.
    - CANNOT_DISASSEMBLE_R_DATA_FILE : An R3trans data file could not be unpacked. A possible error source is that the relevant EPS parcel was not found. The data file could not be opened for writing. An error occurred when transmitting a 20K block from the EPS Inbox to the directory /usr/sap/trans/data (UNIX).
    - CANNOT_DISASSEMBLE_D_DATA_FILE : An ADO data file could not be unpacked. The reasons are the same as with the message CANNOT_DISASSEMBLE_R_DATA_FILE .
    - CANNOT_CREATE_COFILE : The cofile could not be created from the relevant data file. One possible error source is that <sys>adm does not have write authorization for the directory /usr/sap/trans/cofiles (UNIX).
    Check Note: 70752.

    Syed Hussain.

  • SAP PLM Web UI: Document functionality working very slow or timing out

    Dear Experts,
In the SAP PLM Web UI, when we open any existing document or try to create a new document system continues to process with out any error for long time before getting timed out.
Even Descriptions tab or any other tab and attached originals do not open.
Is this got something to do with the whitelist? I havent generated any whitelists so far for this system.
We are on ECC 6.0 EHP 6 and PLMWUI SAPK-70206INPLMWUI.
    Thanks and regards,
    Shashikumar BS

    Hi Shashikumar,
it is quite hard to find out the reason for anybody without system access... I think the best and quickest would be for you to raise an OSS to SAP: http://service.sap.com/incident

  • How to create PDF from Crystal Report instead of CRT

    Hi
How can we view the reports as PDF within SAP Portal (instead of viewing crt-Files with BO-iView-template)?
I know CRs as PDF from SAP NW IdM - reports are created as PDF there.
We use CR 2008 SP2 with SAP_BW as datasource. We'd like to view the reports in SAP Portal.

  • Change pointers are not generated when creating a material master

    Dear Experts,
Change pointers are not generated when creating a material master.
However, when a change is made to the already created material, the change pointers are created according the fields in BD52.
    Am I missing any settings?
I need to create change pointers immediately when I create the material master in MM01.
    Please suggest.
