Creating PDF Error - Acrobat 10

Hi
I am having this issue when using Adobe Acrobat 10, running on Windows 7 64Bit, Acrobat X is up to date with updates.  This is a brand new install of this software and already it is crashing when creating PDF's.  8GIG RAM in the workstation in question.

it's not a crash, something is wrong with the PS file you are attempting to distill.
Can you provide more details as to from which application you are creating a pdf and how with which settingsetc etc

  • Can't create PDFs from Acrobat or Word?

Downloaded the 8.1.4 update and now I can't create PDFs from Acrobat or Word.  If I try to create a PDF from the print menu, I get a message indicating that there are no print drivers for this...any ideas?

Thanks for responding.  Yep, I tried repairing it...no dice.  Then I realized that I'd re-installed AA Pro 8 (having completely given up on the AA Pro 9 upgrade that crashed my system) but not the updates.  So I went through and re-installed each update.  Still no dice. Then I did another repair. Nope.  When I try to create a PDF via the print menu, I get a "Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup."  This tells me that I have driver problem. But everything else prints fine, and I'm pretty sure Acrobat doesn't have drivers.  I'm stumped...

  • Can't create PDF in Acrobat 7.0 Prof.

Since loading my CS2 programs on my Windows 7 (64 bit) computer, all of the programs work except Acrobat. When I try to create a PDF from MS Word, I get error messages saying that the PDF printer driver is missing and asks me to reinstall the program..I've done that, but it still gives me the same message. If I try creating it in Acrobat, I get a message that it cannot find the Adobe PDF resource files and asks if I would like to run it in repair mode. I've tried that, but I still get the same error messages. Any ideas?
    Thank you,

Acrobat 7 just isn't compatible in the Windows 7 64-bit environment.
An excerpt from a KB article from the days of XP x64.
Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Setup was unable to create a new item: Adobe PDF Port Printer," when you install Acrobat 7.0 or Acrobat 3D. The Adobe PDF Printer will not be created. Therefore you will be unable to print to the Adobe PDF Printer to create PDF files. Additionally, other PDF creation paths that use the Adobe PDF Printer will fail; this includes the PDFMaker functions in MS Office applications and AutoCAD and the Create PDF From Multiple Files option in the Acrobat file menu.
To create PDF files, create PostScript files and open them in Acrobat Distiller 7.0 to convert them to PDF. For instructions on creating PostScript files for use with Distiller, see document , "Install the AdobePS printer driver to create PostScript and printer files in Windows applications."
This KB article has a link for 64-bit compatibility of Acrobat 7.x, 8.x, and 9.x respectively.

In a Windows 7 64-bit environment if Office 2010 applications are used and it is desired to use Acrobat's PDFMaker then Acrobat X is needed.

  • Missing words creating PDF with Acrobat 7 (newly installed InDesign CS5)

Since a few days I have some curiosity creating PDF files!
Randomly the PDF output is missing whole words in the document but having spares in the right tracking for them in the document.
It occurs that the missing words are subject to another font however not all words in this font are missing in the document.
Also my printer tell's me if he's going to print the PDF (in this case a serial letter with pre-stamped addresses) his computer is breaking down completely and also printing hieroglyphs.
This document was printed from MS Word 2003 with "Adobe PDF" as printer.
I also use FreePDFXP, though the same error comes up.
In addition I tried several settings for the PDF with no effect in the outcome.
I am still working with Acrobat 7 (from CS2 suite) under WinXP Professional SP3 and hadn't any problems before installing my InDesign CS5 upgrade a few days ago.
I only can assume that the problem is InDesign CS5 but cannot prove it.
Anyone an idea on how to solve the problem?!
I am really annoyed about this since for the pre-stamped letters I already paid money to the mail service and the need to be in the mail today - otherwise I am loosing several 100 Euros to the paper-bin).

    Thanks for your feedback.
However I checked all the settings in the joboptions. All fonts are to be embedded (100%) and I also actively selected the fonts to be transferred.
I am using TheSans from LucasFonts as Open Type.
For my document I have SemiLight as standard style and Bold for accentuation.
While the bold style will be printed in "bold only" lines, it is not printed in lines/paragraphs where also the SemiLight style is used.
When I change color of the words in bold, the effect inverts and only the bold style words are displayed but not the SemiLight text!
I have a second laptop with the same system and software configuration (Win XP Professional SP3; Acrobat 7), where the same document runs smoothly.
That's why I assume, that it must be the Indesign CS5 upgrade causing trouble (it's the only new addition to the first laptop).
Unfortunately Adobe has no answer here also.
The only solution would be to adopt my documents for this effect and follow the logic of the machine instead of my mind...
As we do so often since invention of computers...

  • TPS file is not deleted after FrameMaker creates PDFs via Acrobat 8

Using FrameMaker 7.2 build 158, and Adobe Acrobat 8, when creating PDF files, the temporary PostScript file (*.tps), which is created before the final PDF, is not deleted after the creation of the PDF is complete.
This is a big deal for us because we are using a tool which hooks into the PDF-creation of FrameMaker/Distiller, and is reliant on this TPS file being deleted.
Is this a known bug? Does Adobe know about this? Do any other users have workarounds for this?

    Thomas,
FWIW, speaking from experience with the Save As route, I've seen
random "phunnies" in the final PDFs (such as the missing fonts
issues), a bigger .tps file than the .ps file generated from directly
printing to file, slower throughput in both the intermediate
postscript file creation and actual distilling (probably tied in to
the larger .tps file) and other differences from what the joboptions
    should have been.
There should not have been any differences in the file sizes being
created if the same printer instance/configuration was actually being
used. I also see this on some automated runs with Miramo. It's not
consistent either - sometimes it works fine and then the next run, the
process is considerably slower and there are dropouts in the PDFs.
So far, manually printing to a ps file and distilling always seems to
    work without any issues.
    Your mileage may vary.

  • Text dropping when creating pdf in acrobat 7 standard

This just started about a week ago. One of our user is adding pages to an existing pdf, using exisitng pdf files and new ones created from word and excel files by printing to the PDF printer. Sometimes it happens right away and sometimes it happens after a few pages are added. letters and numbers just randomly disappear from the pdf. a blank space remains in its place. If you print the document the text is missing from the print out as well. She says she hasn't done anything new or changed any settings. It just started happeneing and it happens on random files as well. I updated her to 7.1 but no deal. I tried removing it from her system and reinstalling, still hainv ghte problem. It happens on other machines as well so I think that rules out something on her machine. I've been researching it to find an answer but nothing seems to work.
I tried the suggestion of delteting the fntcache.dat file and many other things. Its causing issues in her department since she can't get this document finished. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have this same problem. I have tried with both embedded fonts and not; I get no errors.
I've tried increasing virtual memory, playing with PDF setting compatibility (6.0 to 5.0), changing my dpi settings... I've tried printing to .ps or saving directly as PDF. Nothing seems to work.
Note that in one document, I was able to solve this problem by removing and replacing an index marker, but in the document exhibiting this behavior now, there is no offending index marker.
It starts in the table of contents and drops text throughout the book.
    I am using:
    Acrobat Distiller 7.0
    Framemaker 7.0

  • Color changes when creating PDF in Acrobat X Standard

I'm printing to PDF from Word 2010 by using Acrobat X Standard.  Here are the two issues:
I have overlaid two text boxes (different colors) on top of each other.  The overall image should be blue on top and bottom with tan in the middle.  When I print to PDF in Word, the PDF is perfect; however, when I print to the printer, the blue on the bottom changes to purple, while the blue on top is correct.  Again, this is the same blue text box, so I don't know why the color changes.
Also, the tan is a darker shade than what the PDF shows.
Is this a printer issue or PDF settings issue?
I'm new to using Acrobat, so any step-by-step help is very much appreciated!
    Thank you.

Create Adobe PDF is a (by default) a LOSSLESS operation where Acrobat processes the Word graphics data directly into PDF.   Printing is a LOSSY operation that first has Word convert Word->”printer spool”, then the printer driver (Adobe PDF) converts that “printer spool” into Postscript, and then Distiller converts the Postscript into PDF.   As you might imagine, you get MUCH higher quality and fidelity results from the former.
Have you verified that you are using the same color management settings in the printer from both Word and Acrobat?  Is the Konica configured for Postscript, PCL, other?  There are SO MANY possible options that could be impacting your configuration…

  • Issues with creating PDF's (Acrobat 8.1.6. and 9.1.3) in Windows Server 2003 (32 bit) and Windows XP (64bit)

We have a report package that generates customised reports
We generate the PDF's by simply "printing" to the Adobe PDF printer
In Windows XP Pro (32 Bit) the report creates the PDF perfectly
In Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit) or Windows Xp Pro (64 Bit) the PDF is created 90% perfect but some of text has slipped on the page.
Whilst we are looking into the report writer (Dev Express) I would like to rule out any Acrobat issues.
    With thanks
    Mark

I think it will work fine if you use the "Enterprise" authentication option.  It may have dependencies on 32 bit components.  So, that's why we must run IIS in 32 bit mode even though it's on a 64 bit OS.  That means CR supports 64 bit OS systems only if you bring down other components that CR uses to 32 bit levels.  I'm not sure if that is considered "full support".
We are trying to use the LDAP authentication option, but that tab is disabled.  Other tabs such as Active Directory and WinNT are disabled as well.  There maybe another component that we must bring down to 32 bit processing.
Is there a way to enable the LDAP authentication configuration tab?
    thanks

  • I cannot open already created pdfs in Acrobat Pro

I get an error message which says:
There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.
Anyone know how to get around this? It's driving me crazy!

Along the same line, where did you get these PDFs? If from e-mail, they are probably corrupt. As an example, you might try opening the campus map at http://www.comm.vt.edu/Contact_Find_Us/campus_map.pdf. To test, it is probably better to download it, or you may be looking at a browser plugin performance instead.

  • Create PDF Error Exception

    Hello,
    this is the case:

And the Content of the URL has no Body.
How could I solve that? Is there a tutorial for printing pdf with adf?
    Thank you!

    Hi Haribabu,
You can solve your problem two ways.
Way 1: Open the entity service from your NWDS then go to permision tab page
and uncheck the permission check box. Then build and deploy the
project again. I think it will work from CAF service browser.
Way 2: If you do not want to uncheck the permission check box then go to the
                follpwing link http://<host>:<port>/caf -> AdministrativeTool ->
AuthorizationTool -> Select your service-> Crate a new Rule-> assign the
user with full controll to the service. Then save it. Now test it from CAF
service browser. I think this will also work.
If you have any problem please let me know.
    Thanks

  • Acrobat 9 create pdfs that older versions of reader can open

I use Acrobat to create pdfs for my classes. This session, many of my students can not open the pdfs that I created with Acrobat 9. This is especially true of students with older Operating systems and older versions of reader. Is there a way that I can create pdfs in Acrobat 9 that these older readers can open?

You should be able to set the backward compatibility in the Adobe PDF printer. There is a setting for the version there.

  • Acrobat X - getting started - create pdf

When I open Acrobat X Pro, there is a window that says "Open a Recent File" on the left and "Getting Started" on the right.  The first choice under "Getting Started" is "Create PDF."  When I click on "Create PDF" I get an "Open File" dialogue box.  I don't want to open a file.  I want to create a PDF.  In my particular situation, at the moment, I want to create a PDF from the scanner.  This is an option from the pull-down menus and the buttons, is there a way to make it an option from the "Getting Started" window?

Thanks.  After a while, I started using the big "create" button.  It works to create a new scan to .pdf.  But, can't find a dependable way to insert from scanner.

You cannot customize the entries on the Welcome Screen, but very few people use the right side of the Welcome Screen for routine tasks, it's there as a reminder of the type of things Acrobat can do. Creating PDFs from your scanner is usually activated via the large "Create..." button on the main toolbar, or the File menu.

  • Can not create PDFs from Word

I've recently purchased Acrobat XI, and am running it on a Windows 7 x64 machine.  I am trying to convert files created in Word 2010.
Method 1: I choose to print from within Word, choose Adobe PDF, and hit the print button.  The print spooler picks it up, I see the job in the print queue, and I'm asked for a location to save the file.  Once I choose a location the print spooler deletes the print job (as if it were successful) and no file is created.  I have tried this with both .doc and .docx files.
Method 2: I drag the file from Explorer over on top of a running copy of Acrobat, Word is opened and I'm asked to choose a location to save the file.  Once I do so the Explorer window turns unresponsive, I see a progress bar at the lower right of the Acrobat window that says "Please wait, reading Adobe PDF," and it will sit there for hours with the progress bar almost complete or complete.  The only way to get the Explorer window responsive again is to kill the acrobat.exe process.
Method 3: I choose Create PDF within Acrobat, point it to the file, and the same problem occurs as with Method 2.
Changing the destination (from desktop, to documents, to a mapped network drive) has no effect either.  Nor does disabline MSE.
I"m not sure what to do next to try and get this to work.

And it started working on its own after Adobe support called me back.
    Go figure.
