Creating pdf from Microsoft Excel

I need some help and I am hoping someone has run into this before.  I have been able to create a pdf from a Microsoft Excel document with no problem but the issue I am having is when I do that all of the sheets are merged into one workbook and it creates an continuous 330 page document; I want to be able to have separate tabs or some type of separation like Microsoft Excel does.  I could create each sheet into a pdf and then merge them all into pdf portfolio but that would be labor intensive.
Can someone help me?
Thanks, John

John,
Once content is in PDF there is no such thing as "workbook" or "worksheet". PDF is content painted to a "page".
As dictated by the quantity of content there may be many pages.
PDFMaker can be configured to prompt for which worksheets of a workbook, in Excel, that are to be processed out to PDF.
With multiple worksheets selected each worksheet's content is processed out, in sequence, to the PDF being created.
So, the first worksheet's content fills PDF page 1 through page N. The second worksheet's content fills PDF page N+1 through page M.
This continues for all selected worksheets.
The result is, as expected, a multi-page PDF.
If the PDFMaker has been configured to create PDF Bookmarks then a Bookmark is created for each worksheet.
The Bookmark's label will reflect the worksheet's "name" in its respective tab back in Excel.
The Bookmarks' default action will be:
Go to a page in this document (e.g., the PDF)
---| Page: "n" (the page on which the worksheet's content starts)
---| Zoom level: Inherit Zoom
Clicking on any given Bookmark takes the user to the start page of the Bookmark identified worksheet content.
. Some screen captures that may help.
PDFMaker's configuration dialog
If "Prompt for Selecting Excel Sheets" is ticked in the PDFMaker configuration dialog then this dialog appears when PDFMaker begins the PDF creation process.
The output PDF will have a Bookmark that permits navigating to the start of content for the designated worksheet content within the PDF.
To view the Bookmarks the Navigation Pane must display.
For any PDF, if one configures the PDF's Document Properties > Initial View tab both the PDF page and the PDF's Bookmarks pane can be set to show upon opening of the PDF.
For many PDF's Acrobat Pro can be used to establish this with the "Open" sequence via a Batch Sequence / Action.
Be well...

  • Problem with creating pdf from Microsoft Publisher 2013

We are having problems in creating pdfs from Microsoft Publisher2010- When the function 'Adobe PDF' is selected and 'Print' is clicked on nothing happens. The progress bar just sits there for several minutes without creating a pdf. We have to click on cancel and when this is done this crashes Microsft Publisher.
I have repaired this using the repair facility in Acrobat 9. I have also uninstalled Acrobat 9 and reinstalled this.
I have also uninstalled Adobe Reader XI and reinstalled Adobe Reader 9.
Before uninstalling Acrobat I also ran the updates but this didnt help either.
This is on a Windows 7 PC (64-bit)
    Adobe Acroabt 9 Pro Extended
    Microsoft Publisher 2010.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

MS Publisher 2010 is not supported by the Acrobat 9 Family; and the PDFMaker extension for Publisher has been removed completely from the Acrobat XI Family, so upgrading won't help either. Sorry!

  • Can't Create PDF from Microsoft Projects 2013

I am trying to PDF a Microsoft Projects 2013 files.  I've tried print PDF and save as PDF but both options give me a pop up window that says "Creating Adobe PDF" with a progress bar displayed with 3 blue bars filled.  I leave it that way for about an hour and nothing happens.  I've tried updating the Adobe Acrobat and Repairing it in the Programs and Features menu.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Thanks for the prompt response.  I don't know how to print-to-file and open the file in Distiller.  The printing as PDF doesn't even work.  It gives me the "Creating PDF" pop up window to which there is no end to. (see photo above)  As for updating to version XI, my colleagues who are running Acrobat X Standard with MS Projects 2013 do not have a problem at all when printing.  I want to avoid upgrading if version X is still usable.  Any other thoughts?

  • How to creat pdf from microsoft word

How do I edit pdf files

You don't.  Thats why they are saved as .pdf files to prevent changes.
You can create PDF files form Word on windows, by printing to a PDF Virtual Printer (you can google this).
You can create PDF files on a Mac by selecting Print, then clicking PDF on the print screen.
You can create PDFs on an iOS device with a third party app like 'PDF Printer for iPhone'

  • Having issues Creating a PDF from an Excel file

When creating PDFs from an Excel file using the Adobe PDF printer, I sometimes run into an issue where the PDF ends up shrinking what's on the document and distorting the image. I have examined all Print Settings and can't find a difference between any of the margin settings, paper size, etc. Once I go to print to Adobe PDF, it just changes the way the whole document looks and is spaced.
To work around the issue, I use Microsoft's built in Save As PDF feature, but that's only works some of the time. I would like to use the Acrobat software so that I can also edit the document immediately without having to re-open it.

Be sure Adobe PDF is selected as the printer in the print menu. Then do a print preview. It it looks wrong then, it is likely an Excel format issue.

    Hello team,
I have a project that I need to do, what is the best approach for each step?
1- I have to create a table in Microsoft SQL Server.
2- I have to import data/ tables from Microsoft Excel or Access to Microsoft SQL Server. Should I use Microsoft Visual Studio to move data from Excel or Access?
3-I should populate the created table with the data from the exported data.
4-How should I add the second and third imported table to the first table? Should I use union query?
After I learn these, I will bring up the code to make sure what I do is right.

  • Adobe v9 on W7 and office 2007. cannot create PDF from MS word using Adobe. But can from Excel, PPT

Adobe v9 on W7 and office 2007. cannot create PDF from MS word using Adobe. But can from Excel, PPT and other MS office apps. Reinslalled Adobe, updated Office, and Adobe no help! Also I can create a pdf from the MS Word and it is using the Adobe 9. So one would think that's good. No it isn't when you need to combine different files to one big PDF document. Any suggetions? Thank you

Yes, I’m saying that I can in WORD use “Save As ADOBE pdf” but cannot in ADOBE create a pdf file from a WORD (.doc or .docx) document. While I can from other MS Office apps like Excel and PowerPoint.
I understand I can use “work around” and save doc in WORD as pdf then compile all files needed (xml, ppt, pdf) in the ADOBE v9. to one big pdf document. But that is not the point of this post.

  • Problems with black color creating PDF from Excel 2013

    Hi
I want to create PDF from Excel 2013 using Adobe Acrobat distiller. When I do so I have problem with black which is 300 percent black instead of 100K. Problem is only with drawed lines from Excel's symbol menu (text is fine).
I use Acrobat 9 Pro and few days ago switched from Office 2000 to 2013.....and problems started.
Office 2000 and Acrobat 9 Pro worked ok and everything including drawed symbols like lines or squares were 100K black in PDF. Now in the case of Excel 2013 it is not so but when I use export function included in Excel and export file to PDF output is 100K. I am not sure if this kind of export is good for me. I use PDF's as inputs to InDesign. So I would like to have more control when create PDF from excel. But in Excel setup I can choose standard and minimum size and that is all.
I imported Adobe PDF Settings from computer where these settings worked with Excel 2010 but they do not do same job for me in combination with Excel 2013 (I have 300 black).
    To explain my workflow:
I am a publisher of crossword magazine and I use Excel to write crosswords. Then I create PDF's and import them into InDesign.
Should I use internal export included in Excel 2013? Are these PDF's ok for working in InDesign and finally for print purposes?
Or If you have any suggestion how to create PDF via Adobe Acrobat distiller setup (which I prefer) please give me advice.
    Thank you in advance
    Juraj

These are tough issues I suspect and the answer you need is probably trivial (it is finding it). I will make some suggestions, but I have no idea if any will work.
    -  In the printer under the Properties>Layout>Advanced>print quality, I use 300 dpi (default is 1200).
    - Under the printer preferences>settings>edit the settings file, I use again 300 dpi (default is 1200 dpi).
These may not fix your issue, but migth be worth a try. You could also try using the preflight script to change to gray-scale. It may not make any changes, but again may be worth a try.
All I am trying to suggest are the things I would be looking at. Maybe they will lead you someplace. Others may be by with better suggestions in time.

  • Creating PDF from Office files in Acrobat X for Mac

Dear All - I just installed the Mac version of Acrobat X (with the newest dot release upgrade).  I was surprised to find (on my installation anyway) that the only way to create a PDF from an Office document is from within Mac Office, using the print command to create an Adobe PDF.
There is no way to use Create PDF from the initial screen or the menu bar of Mac Acrobat X to convert an existing .doc, .docx, .xls, .ppt, etc. file  - the dropdown list of supported formats doesn't include any of the Office formats.  Nor does dragging an Office file's icon onto Acrobat's icon work.
I know from the video tutorials on adobe.com that the Windows version of the Acrobat X product does support direct conversion of Office files without having to open them first in Office.  Is there something screwy with my particular installation, or is the exclusion of Office conversion in the Acrobat application (as opposed to through Office) a "feature" of the Mac version for some reason?
    Many thanks.
    Bob

That's a good question, but I don't have a definitive answer. I know that Adobe has claimed to be working on providing PDFMaker capabilities (at least partially) for the Mac, but we haven't seen anything yet. PDFMaker was dropped as of version 9, but even before then, it was considerably less capable than the Windows version.
I believe there are techincal limitations on the Mac that prevent them from integrating it with Microsoft Office products. I know that on WIndows, Office needs to be installed for PDFMaker to work, so Acrobat (PDFMaker) relies in part on MS Office functionality. If the same APIs aren't available on the Mac, there's not a lot they can do apart from implementing a conversion process that does not rely on MS Office, which sounds to me like a considerable undertaking.

  • Can't create PDF from Word file

I may be missing some functionality or that functionality may not exist.
I'm running Acrobat Pro 9.2 and MS Word 2004 (11.5) on OSX Leopard 10.5.8. I want to create a PDF from a Word file but NOT using the Print dialog. I want to either create it in Acrobat using File > Create PDF > From File or create it from within Word using the Acrobat menu/toolbar. This is so that it will end up as a tagged PDF.
However, I don't have an Acrobat menu or toolbar in Word. I thought Acrobat was supposed to have installed these into MS Office when I installed Acrobat. And when within Acrobat if I select File > Create PDF > From File and choose a Word file, I get a message "Acrobat could not open 'filename.doc' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged". This happens for all Word files.
Looking in Acrobat > About Adobe Plug-Ins... under Convert2AdobePDF it says 'Loaded: no'.
Are these two methods of converting Word files to PDFs something that can only be done in the Windows version of Acrobat? Or is there a plug-in or update I can download to install this missing functionality?
    Thanks for your help,
    Mark

Keep your Office2004. But Office 2008 does have a way to create PDF's from within  the word and excel Programs.
It works better than through the AdobePDF Printer, or through the Apple Print menus save as PDF. (Unless you have X.6.x Snow leopard)
One thing it gets around is a long standing Problem Acrobat has had with word and excel since Word 6.0.1.a/Excel 5.0.1a. Acrobat doesn't know how to interpert Word Page section Breaks. Chopping up a word/excel document in to multiple PDFs that have to be merged back together. MS came up with their own PDF Converter that gets around that problem.

  • Printing to a PDF from Microsoft Word

I need to print to a PDF from Microsoft Word. Is there any way to do so in order to have the hyperlinks in the Word document show up and work in the PDF?

Finally found an answer. The secret is to NOT use the Print function at all, but click the Acrobat Tab in MS Word, then select Preferences and make sure the Links option is ticked, then Click Create PDF. The hyperlinks transfer that way, but not through using Print/Acrobat.

  • Creating .pdf from a ppt or .doc in acrobat 9 resulting in strangely large file sizes

I am printing to .pdf from Microsoft Word and Powerpoint (previously Office 07 - now Office 10) and the file sizes are sometimes doubling in size. Also, for some larger documents, multiple .pdfs are generating as if acrobat is choosing where to cut off a document due to large file size and generating secondary, tertiary, etc., docs to continue the .pdf. The documents have placed images (excel charts, etc) but they are not enormous - that is until they are being generated into a .pdf. I had hoped that when i upgraded to Office 10, this issue would go away, but unfortunately, it hasn't. Any ideas? thoughts? Thanks so much!

One thing that can happen with MS Office applications when an image contains transparency is the "image" is actually composed of multiple one pixel images when converted to PDF. This could be confirmed by examining the file. Try selecting the images using the TouchUp Object tool to see if what looks like a single image it entirely selected.

  • Create PDF from a Word document within Acrobat

    Hi!
I am having trouble to create a PDF from a Word document within Acrobat itself, and not by using PDF Maker in Word. When I try to create a PDF using Acrobat, it gives me the choice to choose any Office format file, but Word format doesn't appear. I can convert from an Excel document or a PowerPoint document, but not from a Word document, even if Word 2010 is installed and works perferctly. Why?
I know I can make a PDF in Word itself by printing to the Adobe PDF printer or by using PDF Maker, but I want to resolve the issue in Acrobat that prevents me to select a Word document in the Create PDF dialog window. You can see the dialog box in the screenshot attached.
    Any help would be appreciated.
I am using Acrobat X version 10.1.8 on Windows 7 Home Premium and I have Office 2010 installed (with Word 2010).

Thanks for your reply. PDF Maker works in all of my Office applications. However, in Acrobat, the file formats available for me to create PDF from figure all the Office file formats except the one for Word. This is not normal. At my school, Acrobat X and Office 2007 are installed, and I can use there both PDF Maker in Word and creating PDF from Word document within Acrobat.
So I think maybe there's a key in my Windows registry that is not set correctly? or something like that. I repaired the installation of Office 2010, and I did so for Acrobat X too, but it doesn't help. Any idea of how I can resolve that?

  • Making non-standard size pdfs from Microsoft Word 2003 on pc

I have Acrobat 8 Professional (pc, Windows XP op system), and want to know how to make a pdf from Microsoft Word (2003) where the dimensions of my document remain as they are, a non-standard size, such as 5.5" x 8.5". All the choices of "paper size" are standard only, and if I check "Custom" and type in the non-standard dimensions, it doesn't work. In other programs, such as InDesign, I can make a pdf of any document size I want with no problems. Does anyone know how to make this work for Word on pc?

You can create a custom page size for Acrobat.
    In Word:
File > Print (choose AdobePDF) > Properties.
On the Adobe PDF Document Properties tab, choose Add next to Adobe PDF Page Size.
Type in a name for your new custom page size and type in your dimensions.
Click Add/Modify to close that window, then select your newly created paper size from the drop down.
Click Ok to close that window
    Click OK to print
For future printing, you would not have to redefine the page, just choose it from the dropdown.
