Creating PDF from scanner with Acrobat Pro 10

Hello, I'm trying to scan a document into pdf using acrobat pro 10. Whatever selection I make I always get the dialog message "scanning cancelled"! Does anybody have a clue what is going on here.
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits.
I also have multiple scanning devices available but it makes no difference which one I select.

Use the software that came with the scanner, save as TIF, then use Acrobat to convert the TIF to PDF

  • Create PDF from scanner with Acrobat 11.0.6

Ever since Acrobat updated to 11.0.6 the create pdf from scanner option will not complete. I am running OS X 10.9.1 on a Macbook Air as well as a Macbook Pro. The Macbook Air updated to Acrobat version 11.0.6 sometime last week and that's when it stopped working. The Macbook Pro updated just this morning and stopped working as well.
I click on File > Create > PDF from scanner, which then brings up the Acrobat Scan window. HPScan shows up as the default scanner and click the scan button leaving the usual default options unchanged. The HP Scan window then pops up and I click scan. The document scans and appears in the HP Scan window; so far so good. It will ask me if I want to scan other pages, to which I click no. I then click the return button as usual. Normally this would then return me to back to Acrobat, but this is not happening. It just hangs there at the HP Scan window. This started happening when Acrobat updated to 11.0.6. If I go into the Acrobat preferences and change the Scan driver option under Conver to PDF from Twain to ImageCapture it works. It used to work with the TWAIN option.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
We are investigating this issue and will get back to you once we have any updates.

  • Create PDF from Scanner using Acrobat X Pro

I am using trial Acrobat X Pro. When I attempt to Create PDF documents from Scanner using Epson Perfection 4490 Photo flat-bed scanner I get pop-up that states Epson cannot be started.  This also occurs when I Create PDF from Scanner > Custom Scan > Scanner when I select Epson Perfection 4490 scanner. My scanner is turned on when I attempt to create PDF from scanner. I have no problem scanning documents and then creating PDF documents from file, but I would like to eliminate this step.  Thanks in advance--any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is a tricky problems as hundreds have had the same problem. Research on the net demonstrated that no one had the solution. Some have even thrown perfectly good scanners away. The problem is most likely  obtaining permission from Win 7 security. Don't bad mouth Adobe Acrobat or your scanner software. This solution will work and has been tested to work. You must be logged in as administrator. This will not help Mac User.
    1. Find the file acroscanbroker.exe
    2. Select properties
    3. Select security tab
    4. Select "users/*********
    5. Edit settings
    6. Full control  Check box
    7. Modify         Check box
    8. Read and Execute    Check box
    9. Read            Check box
    10. Write           Check box
Your scanner should now work and any grayed out menus should come to life.

  • Creating PDF from Scanner with Brother MFC9700

Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional, latest version 9.1.2 (patched in the process of troubleshooting). We recently installed a new computer for this end user. She complained that Acrobat kept scanning the same page over and over again and only quit when clicking on Cancel. I tried it from both the auto-feeder and from the glass. Here is what I discovered as I did troubleshooting: I get 2 ways of creating PDFs from this multifunction printer/scanner. Neither are acceptable. If I choose the options of Native Mode and have it hide the native interface, the quality is good, but it keeps scanning the same page over and over again until you tell it to cancel. Checking the Prompt for new page box did nothing. If I choose Native Mode and Display the Native Interface, it only scans once, but the output is very pixellated, no matter the setting of image quality. There is only one scanner type option, WIA.
I downloaded the newest drivers and software, no help. Anyone have a clue as to what to try next?

Use the software that came with the scanner, save as TIF, then use Acrobat to convert the TIF to PDF

  • Creating PDF from Scanner in Acrobat X

I recently purchased a new computer with Adobe Acrobat X.  I have been using Acrobat 9 with no problems.  When scanning simple 1-page black & white documents, it takes 10 times longer to scan and save the document.  Is there a setting in Acrobat X that is causing the scanner to take so long to scan the document?

    Your problem isn't clear
It is slow, so I understand that you can scan. Perhaps you can check the scanning resolution, if it is an heavy parameter, it is clear than the scan take longer.
When you scan from another application, is it slow ?
    Scan Drivers are ok ?
Try VueScan Pro, it is a scanning application that support more than 1700 scanner. Does it work better ?
It can also replace your default driver.

This might be a scanner issue. Have you tried scanning using other applications?
If not, can you try the following steps once?
    1. Download TWACKER (Twack_32.msi) from http://www.twain.org/downloads.shtm
    2. Install it.
    3. Go to <Program files>\TWAIN Working Group\Twacker 32 and invoke Twack_32.exe.
    4. Go to File menu > Select Source.
    5. Select the TWAIN driver (not the WIA driver) for HP M1212nf and Click OK.
    6. Now, invoke File > Acquire menu.
    Please update with the result.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI: Create PDF from Scanner

There is a lengthy (2-minute) delay for the scanner window to appear when attempting to Create PDF from Scanner with Adobe Acrobat XI (11.0.09) and Mac OS X 10.10 (14A389).  I am using a Canon LiDE 100 scanner, and the latest Canon scanner driver:

  • Acrobat 9 Quits When Create PDF from Scanner Selected

Hi. I wonder if anyone can advise please.
I have recently installed Acrobat 9 on my MacBook Pro and have plenty of RAM. However, I can "Create PDF from Scanner" just the once. After that, Acrobat quits when I select Scan or quits if I cancel the scan.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Troubleshoot System Errors & Freezes
    2. New User account
    3. Recreated Preferences
    4. Booted from separate disk
    5. Repaired disk permissions
    6. Have no third party plug-ins installed
    7. Have run Repair Acrobat
    8. Changed Universal Access
    9. Defragmented disk & repaired files
    10. Safe Boot and reinstall Acrobat
Nothing has worked except when I clean install I can scan through Acrobat once.
I can scan from the scanner software - Lexmark 4850 - with a jpeg straight to Acrobat but want to try to solve the issue of scanning straight from the app.
    Thanks for your help people.
    Regards
    Paul

After I discovered my problem of quitting after completing the scan of the first side of a 2-sided document and decided to go to Adobe for help, I should have known I was in real trouble after following their instructions for locating the Acrobat serial number. After bringing up the splash screen and clicking on it, instead of seeing the number the splash screen disappeared! So I had no option but to use the phone. Then their help person couldn't give me the serial number- he had to transfer me- and I chose to stay with him for help instead. He decided it was a conflict between the Acrobat & HP software and ended the help session.
I then did some on-line research and discovered others with the same problem, and came up with the comparison test with the Windows version. Adobe's phone system didn't recognize my Case #, but the second Help person said it worked fine. At that point, I got the feeling that I was in real trouble. After another hour going over the same ground and repeated denials that their software was at fault, the Helper refused my request that they do a Windows comparison test or send me a Windows version to test myself and promised to call me back with results of their "research". That call never came.
On the third call, again with the Case # unrecognized by the phone system, the Helper was even more unhelpful, probably after reading the record of the first two calls. He insisted on going back to the machine and over the same ground once again, and I ended the call.
I agree that the on line approach is better, and I may have to make a double call to get the serial number (neither of the two I have, each different on the case or on the CD worked) and try that if my request for a supervisor fails. Fortunately they are so incompetent that they can't track starting over.
I'm not a programmer, but have lots of varying experience with computers dating back to the first Atari-400. Since your Acrobat uses only the Twain driver component from your scanner software, the first place to look for a problem is in the Acrobat software, especially since the software doesn't run again after the first use without reinstalling, and the scanner continues to perform properly using it's installed software. The Windows comparison test such as Tim Whitfield was able to make, would clearly establish the Mac version of the Acrobat software to be at fault, but would still not resolve our problems. Unfortunately I hold out little hope for either you or I with Adobe, since neither their phone nor the online help has come up with a prior fix. This indicates a bug fix requirement, which for something like this looks to be a relatively long time in coming.

I have Acrobat 9.5 and when I try to create>pdf from scanner, it displays an error "Adobe acrobat has stopped working". Is there any way I can use this functionality?

Provide you have Acrobat 9 installed in an OS for which Acrobat 9 is compatible then you can use the functionality.
As well, you need a scanner connected, powered up, and the software installed. Acrobat 9 "prefers" TWAIN drivers.
Always visit the scanner vendor's site and download - install the latest greatest software.
n.b., The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year 2013.
As well the Acrobat 9.x product family is not compatible with contemporary OSs.
    Be well...

When I try to create pdf from scanner, Acrobat shuts down, please help!!

    Hi miketayber,
We would love to help, but need to know a bit more to get to the root of the problem. Please tell us:
What version of Acrobat are you using
    What operating system you're on
Whether you've been able to scan previously
What you're scanning to (do you have the latest drivers?)
Is there an error message or number associated with the crash?
We look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Creating pdf from scanner in 10.6.1

The one feature I loved in Acrobat was the ability to scan multiple pages directly into Acrobat as a single file by using the option "Create pdf from scanner."  After upgrading to Snow Leopard, this feature still appears in the menu, but no scanners are found. I know of the issues with printers and file extensions, but I guess scanners are seen as another form of printer?  I hate scanning to Preview then saving each page as a pdf, then opening in Acrobat to concatenate the files, rotate pages and make any necessary changes.  Will the create pdf from scanner ever work again as it used to? Please . . . .

  • Create PDF from Scanner on Mac

Using Acrobat Pro X, when I select Create PDF from Scanner, Acrobat does not find my scanner.  The scanner was added according to the MAC instructions and does work by itself.  It is visible in System Preferences/Print Fax as indicated in the Mac instructions.  But when I got to Create PDF in Acrobat, it asks me to choose the scanner but it is not available in the drop down list.  Any suggestions?

You cannot use older twain drivers (ppc) to scan to pdf from within Acrobat 9 or X. It requires Intel specific twain drivers, which not all scanner companies provide.  You will need to either use the software that came with your scanner to scan to PDF or TIFF. If it scans to TIFF you can import those files into Acrobat.

  • Create PDF from scanner - output size?

Create pdf from scanner - Starting with Adobe Acrobat Pro connected to an Epson GTS50 scanner - my pdf size is aboutt 3x5  instead of 8.5 x 11.
    How can I fix this?
I have re-installed the scanner driver.
Re-installed the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 program.
Made sure the "Config pre-sets" were 300 dpi.
Checked the Adobe PDF Properties in the Print Options.
    Thanks!

If Letter is selected in "Configure Presets," in Acrobat 9 and you are still having problems
I would use the option to show the native scanner interface.
Select Custom Scan, click on Options next to your scanner model, select "Show Scanner's Native Interface" from the drop down menu
Press Scan, and your scanner controls should show up.  From there you can see what your settings are before you scan.
If your document is 6 x 8 as an example, you could set your scanner to scale it to 8.5 x 11.
