Creating Pdf in Photoshop CS6 - blurry at maximum quality setting

Hi,
I just tried to create Pdf.
I used high quality jpegs and chose a 100% quality setting and at 300 dpi.
I also chose the same pixel dimensions as the original documents.
But the outcome is blurry - as if the original had been highly compressed. The sum of the sizes of all files is about 40% larger than the final pdf file.
How can I get rid of this compression and create a pdf document whose pages are as sharp and high quality as the original?

> pdf inflated the orginal file size by the factor 10
I should have warned you about that, Uncheck "Preserve Photoshop editing capabilities"
this extra step should look pretty good and make the doc even smaller:
Do not Downsample
Compression: JPG
Image Quality: High or Max

  • Problem with opening some of PDFs in Photoshop CS6.

Hi, I have a problem with opening some of PDFs in Photoshop CS6. It is said: it isn't possible to carry out an order since the module of the file format cannot analyse this file

Don’t know if Reader has this, too, but in Acrobat one can check under Document Properties.
I can convert and place the file in Photoshop CS6.
I would recommend trying the usual trouble-shooting routines and if nothing helps un-installing, running the Cleaner and re-installing Photoshop.  (After making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved to s secure location.)

  • 'Maximum' Quality Setting for Previews

    Dear Adobe,
Aside from 'Low', 'Medium', and 'High' settings for standard-size previews, please add a 'Maximum' quality setting (equivalent to 10-12 quality setting for JPEGs in Photoshop).
As standard previews are generated for imported images or for new edits on images already in Lightroom, sometimes low quality JPEG previews are generated. These previews exhibit color banding & macroblocking artifacts typical of JPEG files (especially in dark areas). Since these previews are used in the Library, Slideshow, Print, and Web modules, it's pretty darn annoying & distracting to stare at low-quality renditions of our images. Switch to Develop module, and a fresh new image is rendered on screen; therefore, these JPEG preview artifacts are not visible in the 'Develop' module.
    Two fixes to this problem:
1.) Add a 'Maximum' quality setting for previews that Lightroom generates
2.) Fix it the Aperture, Bridge, iPhoto, 'every-other-software', and your own 'Develop' module way: display the precached preview first, while rending a fresh view of the image in the background... display that when it's ready.
Here's a forum where I've discussed this previously:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?128@@.3bc33a73
Here are examples of the low-quality previews generated by Lightroom (when 1680 'High' setting is used for previews):
    http://web.mac.com/rishisanyal/iWeb/Homepage/Macroblocking.jpg
    http://web.mac.com/rishisanyal/iWeb/Homepage/Library.jpg
    http://web.mac.com/rishisanyal/iWeb/Homepage/Library_vs_Develop.jpg
And if you are using a well calibrated monitor, then look at the macroblocking in the black wool coat in this image (please use a color managed viewer, else the coat will just look black and you won't see the blocking):
    http://web.mac.com/rishisanyal/iWeb/Homepage/Lightroom_JPEGblocking.jpg
We photographers have discerning eyes. It's painful to see this terrible renditions of our precious images... and to have to switch over to the 'Develop' module *just* to get a high-quality rendition of our image? And meanwhile watch slideshows with low-quality versions (previews) of our images?
    Sounds pretty unacceptable to me.

So, I'm pretty much convinced now that the problem with low-quality LR previews seems to be mostly isolated to the previews that LR generates after you make edits in the 'Develop' module.
Upon first import, this image looked fine in the 'Library' & 'Slideshow' modules. After making some edits (color, tone, etc.) in the 'Develop' module, I ended up getting this hideous preview in the 'Library' & 'Slideshow' modules:
    http://web.mac.com/rishisanyal/Lightroom/07-0310_BandingBlocking.jpg
You people with LCDs will be able to see the JPEG artifacts better than those with CRTs, since LCDs tend to be sharper.
So, the obvious question is this:
Does LR, when *re-generating* previews for edited images, ignore the quality-setting for JPEG previews (which I have set to 'high')??

  • Creating Actions in Photoshop CS6...

I am running Windows 7. I created an Action in Photoshop CS6 that includes placing a rectangle and a logo on the bottom right hand corner of my images and then centered in the middle of the rectangle is text of the event (Event name, Location, Date). After creating everything, I flatten the image, resize it down to a size reasonable for the web, then I save the image to a folder, close the document and click on the STOP button in the Actions panel.
Afterwards, I go into File>Automate>Batch and choose the Action that I just created. In running the action, I notice that the text that I placed into the rectangle on my document is now scaling down to a considerably much smaller size than what I had it set to.
Can you tell me why this is happening and how to correct it?
    Help???
    Thank you,
    Julia

Are all the document you ran the action on the same size as the document you recorded the action on? If not did you scale the text so it would be scaled to the current document size and appear the be relatively the same size text that you added to the document you recorded the action on. You may want to have a look at my crafting actions package there is a sample watermarkinf action that handles size.

  • Problem with creating PDF in Photoshop, or Acrobat Output Preview

I saved a PDF in Photoshop and Acrobat's output preview the text was black in 4 colors and Rip did not have this problem. Why?

You have gone a while without a reply here, so I'll bump your post at least, but it is not clear from your question exactly what your problem is.
'Black in four colors'   I don't understand this statement.  Black is black and does not have colours.
'Rip'  I don't know what you mean by Rip.
One tghing that comes to mind is that if you have exported a large layered document to PDF and that document had vectored objects like Type layers, whenn you view the PDF file you might initially see those vectored objects in black while the system is catching up and rendering the type layers etc.  In that case, just waiting will see it corrected, but a 3550 x 8800 pixel banner file I delivered to a printer recently, took ages to render on the printer's slow system.
If you expand on your problem, I amn sure someone will try and help.

  • Photoshop unable to load maximum quality 3D LUT files.

Hey all, revently I have been experimenting with exporting "looks" as 3D Lookup tables, however, have been running into an error where photoshop is unable to open 3D LUTs exported at maximum quality (256 grid points). When I export at 128 it works just fine but as I close in on that maximum quality (which I'd ideally want to use) I get the following error when trying to load the LUT back into photoshop after export:
I have tried both exporting and importing with multiple different computers to confirm that it wasn't something local to just one machine. All machines were Macs running the latest version of OSX and the latest version of Photoshop CC 2014.
Is this just a case where Photoshop is unable to load complex LUT files? Or could there be something wrong with how I am exporting my LUTs? Here is a screenshot of my export settings:
Any help would be great and I'd love to gain a greater understanding of what is happening, thanks!!

Ah ok, thanks, ya I find things seems to look fine at 64 or 128 but the perfectionist in me always wants to maximize quality as much as possible.

  • Random text appearing as bold when creating PDF from Photoshop CS5

Hi I am a relative newcomer to Photoshop CS5. I have been creating a document with a background image layer and a couple of text box layers. The font is set at Arial, italic, sharp. When I save the document as a PDF file, random words appear in bold. I have tried deleting these words in the PSD document text layer and retyping them but they still appear as bold in the PDF file. Interestingly when I save as a JPEG image the bold words appear as normal. Any ideas/ tips would be greatly appreciated. CS5 version is 12.0.4 and OS is Windows XP.

  • Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer ejects 3.8 in of a 4X6 paper and prints only 2.2 in of the image printing from Photoshop CS6, I'm sure I set everything correctly - what could I be missing?

Using Mac Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) & editing & printing from Photoshop CS 6.
Have new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and set it up yesterday.  First thing printed was a
document from MS Word (a letter) 8.5 X 11 plain paper - this came out OK.  Next I fire up
Photoshop and open a 4 X 6 inch image to do a test print.  I set it up in the print dialog as
4X6 paper, Canon's Pro Glossy paper profile, rear tray, standard print quality, Photoshop
manages the color.  I load the paper in the rear tray close the covers and hit print.  Now, when
it starts to print the printer moves about 3.8 inches of paper out of the printer and starts printing
on the remaining 2.2 inches then spits the paper out.  It does this in Photoshop (any image it doesn't
matter), and it does it printing from Capture NX.  I have been able to get it to print on the paper
correctly using Apple's Preview program but that that's not going to do me any good.  I was on
the phone with Canon tech support for about 2 hours and they were completely puzzled suggesting
I would have to use Canon's printing apps instead to print - that doesn't do me any good either.
I want to be able to print from Photoshop.  Any one every heard of this or experienced the same
    problem? Thanks JamesD!

Hello again. I recognize that a print is good if you like it and bad if you don't, despite what others might say, but I will at least share my experiences. They might help you or others who are following this thread.
My monitor is calibrated with Spyder 3. Gamma 2.2, 6500K, 83 cd/m^2. Contrast at 50%; brightness about 52%. My monitor lets me choose blackness level - it defaults to 50%.
When I print the test image I linked to above, using Lightroom, with no adjustments, my technical output is as follows:
Middle step wedge shows twelve disticnt steps. Whitest step is color of unprinted paper.
It varies from paper to paper, but I can discerne at least the 252 step and on some papers 253 - telling me I have good highlight detail.
On the black side I discerne 8 or 10, nothing lower. (That sounds like what you are reporting).
Artistically I am very happy how my print looks - nice red strawberries, good flesh tones, etc.
One my monitor, the on-screen image is almost identical to the print. I am surprised that you can see the 2 wedge step on screen at a very similar brightness.
I also checked out this B&W test image:
    http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/bw_printing/bw-test-image-2.html
You are probably aware of this since you are printing with Print Studio Pro, but others may not be.
You can print a series of test images:
find the one that best suits your taste, enter the calibration values in PSP, and save them as a custom setting. Then, each time you want to print recall the setting.
You can do a similar thing in Lightroom using the printer driver and User Templates.
There would be some one-time trial and error to that approach.

  • Photoshop CS6 - can't save as a PDF - error message

Hi - I am having problems saving a PDF in photoshop CS6.
There isn't an option to save as a PDF in the Save As function so I've been trying to do this through the Print Function.
When I get to the point where I press Save I get the following error messgae:
Any ideas why this is or how I can rectify this problem?!
    Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Without exact system info, details about the document, PDF settings used and so on nobody can tell you much. There could be any number of reasons why you neither can save as PDF nor print to PDF, the most obvious being an unsuitable color mode or a wrong document size.

  • Creating a .pdf in photoshop cs4 different than earlier versions

    Hi. In PS CS4.
I am trying to make a .pdf to send to a printer. I do not know if the printer as CS4. Eventually I will ask, but..
I made a pdf in Photoshop, basically using the High Quality print settings.
Normally, when I open a pdf in Photoshop that was made in Photoshop I am able to see the layers, adjustment layers..etc..
I tried opening this .pdf in Photoshop 7.0 & it had asked me to rasterize it with that dialog screen, although I did have Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities checked. I am not sure why it did that.
What do you do for people that have earlier versions?
    Thank you.

not much you can do about it, the Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities only works when opening it in Photoshop CS2 or newer

  • Photoshop CS6 - files compatible with all CS versions?

I create designs with Photoshop CS6. Oftentimes they include clipping masks, layers, groups ... . Will my client be able to modify the design with every CS version? Are my designs (made with CS6) 100% compatible with very old CS versions, too?  Or should he/she own a newer version of Photoshop CS?
    Thank you much!

Yes, you have to worry about compatibility. Groups within groups within groups have changed considerably over the years. Before CS3, you could even only have one group level at the root level of the document, no nested groups. That has been expanded ever since. Likewise, per-group masks, clipping paths and layer styles have only been introduced in CS5/ CS6. There's a couple of other things as well like CS6 having changed the order of certain layer styles, but you get the idea. I'm sure if you read some articles or the online help's "What's New" sections for each version, you wil lget the full picture. As long as you avoid these specialty cases and keep your document simple and save it with teh "Maximize Compatibility" option, most files should open in one way or another even in older versions, but there's simply no way to guarantee that each and every bit will be fully editable otehr than in the same version it was originally created.

  • How to compress pdf in photoshop

How do I compress a 28 page pdf in photoshop CS6?

Never, never use Photoshop as a PDF editor unless you know that it is a PDF with raster images at know resolution (including the case where you made it with Photoshop first time around).

  • Cannot create PDF w/ custom page size in FM 9

I just upgraded to the new Technical Communication Suite and cannot create a PDF from FrameMaker with a custom page size anymore. I need to create a PDF with a page size of 8.125" by 10.875", and have tried both Save As PDF and Print to the PDF driver. I followed all of the instructions on how to do so via the PDF printer driver's "Printing Preferences", Adobe PDF page size, etc. When that didn't work, I also tried Save As PDF with a custom page size ... still won't print to the custom size no matter how many places I specify it.
My only way to get my custom page size at this point is to create the PDF and then go in and modify Document > Crop Pages > Change Page Size to Custom, and specify my size. This is clearly less than desirable.
I am using FM version 9.0p 196. Any help/advice/suggestions welcome!

    Cindy,
You should get the FM updates. There have been 3 patches released since the 9.0p196 version. Install them in order.
Before creating PDFs, make certain that your default printer is set to the AdobePDF printer instance. The SetPrint utility from Sundorne helps ensure that this is always the case for FM, see http://www.sundorne.com/FrameMaker/Freeware/setPrint.htm
In the Save As PDF dialogue, set the "Page Size" for the output on the Settings tab, as shown here:
Set your PDF joboptions for the appropriate press requirements.
    Set your registration if required.
Make sure the "Convert CMYK Colors to RGB" is set (the PDF CMYK generation is still buggy).
Hit the "Set" button and you should get the correctly sized output.
When you were creating the ouptut via the printer route, if you had set the "Generate Acrobat Data" option, then FM sets the document so that it is always cropped to the FM page size, rather than the printer specified output sheet size, in the final PDF. Omit setting this option and it should work via this route as well.
