Creating photo book on iPad

Hello,
I am getting the impression that I can't use my new  iPad for creating photo books from my snapfish/shutterfly accounts?  One of the big reasons I got an iPad was to continue my hobby of making photo books online, having the photo books be created by snapfish, and then paying for them to be created and sent to me.
Do u know of any other way around this? I feel like an idiot for not investing this before purchasing an iPad, and hope that I don't need to buy a lap top/desk top.
Thanks,
Molly

Hi Molly,
Adobe makes several iPad apps for working with photos but none currently for creating the type of photobooks which are commercially printed and mailed to you. Adobe Lightroom 4 which was just released has features for creating photo books of this type, but that runs on a computer not on an iPad obviously. Adobe makes a program called Adobe Revel, which allows you to upload your photos to a cloud service to be able to view all your photos on all your devices (iPad, iPhone, Mac, and eventually on Windows computers). Adobe Revel, like Lightroom, allows you to apply non-destructive global edits and effects to your images and supports sending out to Email, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr. I'm not aware of any apps that allow you to do what you are seeking, you might check with Snapfish and Shutterfly to see if they have recommendations.

  • How do I open the square photo books from iPad in iPhoto Mac ?

I began creating a square photo book on iPad (iOS7) and decided that I would create the book on my Macbook instead (Mavericks) - so I could access my full photo library.  However I can only see rectangular photo book templates on the Mac.
    Questions:
    - Is it user error or are the templates totally different on Mac and on IOS?
    - Is there any way to transfer a square photo book project from iPad to Mac via iTunes or iCloud?
    Thanks :-)

Just about the only thing iPhoto for Mac and iPhoto for iOS share is a name.
So, no, it's not user error, the templates are different
    and
No, there's no way to transfer any book project.

  • Making photo books on iPad

Is there a way to create photo books on the ipad2? One of the main reasons I purchased the ipad2 was to edit and organize photos with the touch screen. I love the feature on iphoto, but can't seem to find anything comparable on my ipad.

There is no iPhoto program on the iPad. Your friend would need to transfer the photos back to computer to what you're asking, as far as I know. I don't think most websites that support that sort of thing would be iPad compatible. You might also trying checking out the App Store to see if there are any apps that might have such a function.
    Best of luck.

  • Creating photo book in previous version of iLife.  Text block outlines.

Creating photo book in previous version of iLife.  Want to leave the "default" photo information text block blank.  Can delete text, but block outline remains, albeit empty.  Will empty block outline print in final book?

The text block area will not show when the book is converted to a PDF file for uploading and printing.  Do as Terence suggested and create a PDF file of the book according to this Apple document, iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture, and check the book before ordering.  Keep the file to compare with the printed copy when you receive it.

  • Is there a way to create photo books on the ipad2?

One of the main reasons I purchased the ipad2 was to edit and organize photos with the touch screen. I love the ability to make photo books and order the books through Apple on iphoto for Mac, but can't seem to find anything comparable on my ipad.

There are a number of 3rd party photo editing apps for the iPad and other iOS devices, and Apple will include some basic editing for photos with iOS5, but there is not a way to create and order photo books and calendars with the iPad as is available with iPhoto on a Mac.

  • Can't create photo book in iPhoto 9.6 (910.29)

I am trying to create a photo book in iPhoto. I have created books in the past but well over a year ago so I don't know when the  issue could have started. When I click on create, seemly nothing happens however when I quit iPhoto and start it up again, I find a copy of the photo book in my albums list rather than under projects. It does not behave like a photo book as I can't edit it and the display is different. I can't even open old photo books. I have tried countless things to try to make it work including: renaming my iPhoto library and then reinstalling iPhoto. With the new library created by reinstalling iPhoto, I am able to create a Photo Book. But when I switch to my old library (45, 000+ pictures and many years of my life), it again won't create a photo book. Well my library may be corrupted, but when I rebuild it, repair it, etc. there is no change in the behaviour of iPhoto.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem. Many Thanks.
Using a iMac and OS 10.10

Then apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.  Repeat with Option #1 if necessary.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How to create photo book from Album without cropping

I just came from vocation and try to make a cool photo book out of my "best pictures" selection. Most images are "as is" from camera, so have "standard" aspect ratio: H/W.
I also happy about composition and would like to keep all or most of it.
I tried several "cool" templates, but can not get results I want: iPhoto randomly place my images on random template, but the painful issue is that it is also randomly crops my images to fit these random layout. It probably try to make it look "cool", but it does not make any sense and does not look cool.
I can do it all manually and select template for every page, also, changing mask for every image (for some minimum of mask still crops more then half of image, so page layout have to be changed). I have about 200 pictures I picked for album and I am not happy about doing it 200 times.
It may work for me if iPhoto just flow images without cropping for fit? Extra bonus would be if I can select images I want "big", "medium" or "small"
Can iPhoto automatically create a simple PhotoBook for printing without killing most images with random and some times more than 50% cropping?

Canon S90 - it is Advanced P&S. When I say crop I does not mean a little bit on sides I mean iPhoto 11 some times crop 50% of image, some times try to zoom on faces. At any rate, most images just rendered useless. Say you have normal landscape picture of person holding some thing in his hands. iPhoto made super wide strip out of it to fit in 1+2 kind of layout, so what you see is upper half with face, object in hands completely out and you can not change mask as at minimal settings it is still cuts more than half of image out.
I tried many Themes, but I can not find one that would not destroy my images, that are very typical, hobbits images, with margin usually big enough for small fit crop, but as it is my trip record I would like to keep (naturally, no?) all details in.
Zoom of face may be cool, but when the rest of image lost, what the point?
I can go one by one, but this is time consuming for 200 images. It just make sense to have "preserve image" settings or "simple" photo book template some where... but I can no find it: all settings in iPhoto are kept to minimum , Apple style

  • Creating Photo Book

I'm creating a photo book of an event, and noticed that the date in the corner of each photo is wrong! Can I change the date on all of the photos I'm choosing for the book?

In what way is the date wrong? Has your camera been set incorrectly?
Then you can correct that by selecting all photos that need adjusting at once and using the command "Photos > Adjust Date and Time" (from the main menu bar).
That will shift all dates and times by a fixed increment in the same way.
For example, to shift the date by one day:

  • Transfer photo books to ipad?

I used Aperture to make a photo book. While I'm waiting for Apple to print it, how can I transfer the actual book, including the layout, to my iPad?
Note: I want the book and not just a bunch of photos.
    Thanks

That was the solution. Have to admit that I had a little trouble figuring how to get it from my computer to the iPad (file>add to library>select file>open and then you're off and running).
The only issue...and it's minor...is that I when I rotate the iPad into the landscape mode, the file does not rotate with the iPad. Perhaps you guys have an explanation for that.
At any rate, many thanks for the quick turnaround and answer (which was right on target).

Are you using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0?

  • Aperarature error failed to create temporary directory creating photo book?

I am getting error message when trying to buy photo book created in Aperature 3 - failed to create temporary directory and then error localize.  Help!

    Hello BDAqua,
    Thanks for the suggeston.
I did the A4 routine several times to no avail. Doesn't that include C11?
Anyway I'll keep C11 (simple reselect of backup disk) in mind for the future.
For now I'd rather keep using my old backup disk even if it's only 80GB for 43GB full backup size. At least it is working perfectly.

  • Unable to Create Photo Book in '09

I've gone through all the tutorials and have followed procedures on how to create a photo book and I encounter the following problems. When the screen pops up to add the book and select which type book and theme, nothing shows up!!! If I go ahead and make a title for my book this pops up, "There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable." Where are my themes???? Shouldn't they be there?

click here for a discussion on fixing missing themes.
Notet - the process is the same for iPhoto '09 (current version is 8.0.2)

  • Address in Luxembourg country for creating photo books or cards

I'm living in Luxembourg and I can't fill my receiving address when I command photos or card or photo books. France or Belgium or other europeans countries but Luxembourg isn't available. What can I do ?

There does not yet seem to be an Apple Print Products Store in Luxembourg. I see it neither in the routing page http://store.apple.com/us/help/print_products/routing nor in iPhoto's preferences panel where you can select the Print Products store.
Would it be possible for you to use the Apple Store of a neighboring country and get the books delivered to a friend's address in that country?
