Creating photo folder

is it possible to create a new album in the photo section of the ipad from the ipad or can it only be done on the computer the ipad is syncing to?

This article says that the camera roll is backed up http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079. But personally I would copy them onto my computer and back them up properly, as an iPad backup is just one big file and you can't extract individual items from it (whether there are utilities that can extract from it I don't know) - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

  • LR 4 & 4.1 can't create new folder manually during photo import

    Windows 64, i7, 12GB RAM
I don't seem able to create a new folder manually on photo import.  This still works fine on the same PC with LR3.6.  Anyone else seeing this?  Thanks.

I've sometimes found the 'Make New Folder' option to be a bit hit and miss on Win7....so I generally avoid it. In your case, wouldn't it be easier to have Lightroom create the folder for you by setting up your Destination panel as follows:
Obviously the selected target parent folder in your case would be "Photos Working Folders", use "Organize: Into One Folder", tick the Into Subfolder box and enter the name of the sub-folder you want, e.g. raw0015. As you can see, if the sub-folder doesn't yet exist, Lightroom then shows you that it will be creating it for you.

  • Importing a photo folder just with references creates a photo library 2/3 of its size. crazy!

after ignoring iphoto for many reasons over the last years i thought i give it a try with the new photo app.
i imported a 70gb photo folder - turning OFF to copy it into the library first, just refering to them - and now it ate up all my space by creating a 41gb (!!!) photo library just with references alone. so now i have a 70gb folder plus an index file that is 41gb big. i am beyond baffled.
am i doing something wrong here or are they crazy?
they cannot possibly think this is a smart way to store photos with the small internal hard drives they give us nowadays can they?

it gets even worse. "photos" has created empty subfolders of almost every photo in my original photo folder.
    thank you apple. good job.

  • Why do i always create recovered photos folder every time i start up iPhoto?

Every time i open iPhoto '09 IO get a message that says, "74 ITEMS WERE FOUND IN IPHOTO LIBRARY THAT HAVE NOT BEEN IMPORTED, WOULD YOU LIKE TO IMPORT NOW?" I have tried to import and also cancel and it keeps coming up.  What an annoyance!!  How do I remove this because it creates a recovered photo folder in my library each time... It has done this ever since I bought the program just didn't have time to ask for help! LOL

Right Click - point to the iPhot  library (by default in your pictures folder) and click on the right mouse button (or control - click for a single button mouse - or two finger click for a default track pad

(PC) When I sync a folder of photos, they sync to the generic photo library on my iPhone, but it creates another folder with duplicates of the pictures. How do I prevent/get rid of this second folder?

Um... that does not contain "duplicates".
It's just a view that shows you everything that's in your other albums and events in one place...

  • Iphone creates photo library itself when syncing photo folder

when I sync photo folder in to iPhone it creates photo library itself, is there any way to disable this?

Don't recall whether or not it was different in iOS 4.  This video will explain what's going on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=60MevRF53ck#!, at least in iOS 5.

  • Can not sync more than one photo folder to my phone. lost all photos???

Can not sync more than one photo folder at a time from my computer to mu iPhone. How do I get the drop down box to choose my photos, so I can manually pick photo folders???? Lost all my photo folders on phone.

Create a parent folder on your computer to contain the folders of photos you want transferred to your iPhone. Select the parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. To add an additional folder of photos to your iPhone, place the folder of photos in the parent folder followed by a sync.

  • Creating a folder for wallpaper on the phone?

    Hey guys,
As per the topic really, how do I create a folder on the phone for my wallpaper? I can't see an option in explorer to add a new folder
    Thanks

    You're welcome.
You won't lose anything since all photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone should remain on your computer.
Place all the existing photos that have already been transferred to your iPhone in a named folder or place these photos in multiple named folders as needed. Place the folder of the photos or multiple folders of the photos that you want transferred to your iPhone in the parent folder as already provided and select this parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. All named folders of photos within this parent folder will be transferred to your iPhone as separate named albums.
To add additional photos later, create a folder for the new photos and place the new folder of photos in the parent folder followed by a sync. To remove a photo from your iPhone, remove the photo from the named folder within the parent folder followed by a sync. To remove an entire album or folder of photos from your iPhone, move the named folder of photos outside of the parent folder followed by a sync.

  • How do I add a 'photo folder' to my itunes account so that I can transfer photos from my computer to my ipad?

I'm trying to get photos transfered from my computer to my Ipad. My Itunes does not have a 'Photo' folder to place my photos.  I can find everything but a 'Photo' folder (Movies, Podcasts, IUniv, Books etc).  Any thoughts?

    9850,
you can do it by creating sub-folders within the folder that is selected to be synced.
e.g.  Folder "Photo" has been selected to be synced to your iPad.
Create two sub-folders e.g. "Family" and "Vacation" within "Photo" folder and put photos in both sub-folders instead of "Photo" folder.
Now sync your photos and in photo's tab, after you have selected "Photo" folder to be synced, make sure you select all Folders as example below:
Once completed you will find both folders "Family" and "Vacations" are in your iPad's album including Camera Roll.  e.g. below:

  • How can I delete a photo folder from my iphone 4s?

how can I delete a photo folder from my iphone 4s?

    Hey Ravengirlaa,
Great question! The answer is going to depend on how the photos were originally organized:
    A) The albums were synced to your iPhone from iTunes
    B) The albums were manually created on your iPhone from photos in the Camera Roll
The following excerpt would apply for situation B:
excerpt from page 71 of the iPhone User Guide - http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
If the photos were synced from your computer, please refer to this article (section "To delete photos and videos from your device"):

  • I have created a folder that I can now Save to and view in Photoshop (CS4) but cannot find in spotlight or any other way on my mac. PLEASE HELP!!

I use Photoshop CS4, I do not think this problem is related to PS... I am not exactly sure what happened. I created a folder on desktop, think I changed name of it. Now it is not on desktop. I know the exact name of the folder and have tried doing a spotlight search and cannot locate it AS WELL as searching for a file by name EXACT as name is. However if I go into Photoshop I can open or "save as" and open the folder and save as a "recent location" and the folder and its contents are found no problem... however cannot see the pathway to know where the folder is located on my mac.. PLEASE HELP!!! Been using photoshop and my mac for MANY years and NEVER had a problem like this... I have a photo client awaiting their pictures to be burned on a cd and mailed to them!!
    THANK YOU!!
    Laurie

Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

  • When saving an image, for example on Facebook, Firefox saves 20 random images too and creates a folder. Is there a way to prevent this?

I try to save an image on Facebook, or other websites also and instead of saving that one image, Firefox saves multiple images and creates a folder called PHOTO.PHP-FILES for each image that I try to save.

Library contain ALL photos. This is the way it is from within iPhoto as files are actually structured into 'Roll' folders on disk. See <~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Data/...> I too struggled on the very same issue as you... this is actually frustrating to say the least (bad first steps in..) but I have found a clever way around: Say hello to Smart Albums!
Next time you import a roll into iPhoto make use of the "Roll Name" field. Second, select New Smart Album from File menu, give it a meaningful and unique name then Match the following conditions: Roll, Contain, "Roll Name" you gave just before import from camera. This will generate an album featuring only this one roll.
    In short:
First, give the Roll a name before you hit "import" button.
    (see link 1 bellow)
Second, create a new Smart Album: Roll, Contain, <"
    (see link 2 bellow)
Remember Library will always contain ALL your Photos. This is the master album.

  • How do I import photos from my ipad that are not in the saved photos folder

I do have a saved photos album and was able to import those. However, I have several other folders and I can't figure out how to get the photos from my iPad to my new iMac. Or for that matter, into the saved photos folder. This is my first experience with iPhoto. Any help? Thanks!

If you want to remove all of your synced photos .....
Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes.
Select your iPad under the devices tab in the upper right or in the left sidebar, if you have the sidebar enabled.
Click on Photos at the top of the iTunes window on the right.
Uncheck the "Sync Photos From" heading
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
IF that doesn't work, create an empty folder on your desktop and call it "Empty Folder". Select that folder in the "Sync Photos From" heading in the photos tab of iTunes and then click on Apply. That will also remove all synced photos.
