Creating Plant

Dear Experts,
As a part of configuration, I am creating Plants in Customization,
Can some one please throw some light on what are the steps to follow or Important points to remember while creating plants?
This is just to make sure I do not end up doing some mistakes.

Plants Definition :
Plant 0001 is the SAP default provide for your reference . Copy existing plant 0001 to new plant
/NSPRO-IMG-Enterprise Structure-Definition-Logistic General-Define,copy,delete,check plant---Define Plant (In this, we are defining plants(s) under company which is defined earlier)
/NSPRO-IMG-Enterprise Structure-Definition-Logistic General-Define,copy,delete,check plant- copy,delete,check plant-F6 to copy org. object from plant 0001 to defined plant(s).
Storage Location :
/NSPRO-IMG-Enterprise Structure-Definition-Materials Management-Maintain Storage Location-New Entries (Define required storage location(s) under different plant(s) )
/NSPRO-IMG-Enterprise Structure-Definition-Materials Management-Maintain Storage Location-Storage Location Description-- New Entries ( enter here addresses of each plants)

Non-***. KF are coming blank for newly created Plant/Mat in Inventory Query

Hi,
In my BEx query, Total stock quantity values for newly created Plant is not coming.
BW and R3 have gone live on the same date.
(1) Did Stock initialization for existing Plant.
(2) Filled set up table and did INIt load for the existing plants.
(3) compress the request in BW.
BX - with marker update
BF - with no marker update.
Now two more plants are created in R3 side with their opening stock values.
Did Delta to BW.
New Plants are loaded into BW. I can see "Receipt Qty" value in 0IC_C03 cube - 1200.And Issued qty - 000
But When I execute Bex query, "Total Stock qty" and "Stock in Transit" (these all are non-cumulative keyfigures) are coming as blank.
Please suggest. Quick response is much appreciated. This is Production (after Go-live issue).

Search term to be added to newly created plant

hi,
i have to add the search term 2 for a newly created plant.
i tried in enterprise structure-> logistics genral-> Define plant but i am not able to loacte any search field there.

Check/define plant
Select your plant and press address icon from tool bar
there yiou can add search term

How to create plant wise STO from multiple requisition through Me59N

Due to the different supply plants the system does not know which one
to use and therefore throws the error message.
The only workaround would be to create the PO's seperatly per PR item.

You need to create an activity rate for 2014 for cost centre 51260201 and activity type NAHG20.
This can be done via transaction KP26, but is usually performed by your Finance team.

Tansfer of Receivable amounts from one plant to another newly created plant

Hi Gurus,
We have created a new plant as per the new requirement from the client in ECC 6.0. Now, client wants some receivable amounts to be transfered from the existing plant to the newly created plant. Can any one guide in this.

The problem is not the change of plant, which is standard functionality, but the change of sales organization.
An awful lot of information depends on the Sales Organization: Company code (!!), customers, materials, prices, profit center, etc.
SAP does not even admit creating a sales order in a Sales Organization A with reference to a sales order with a sales organization B.
IMHO your best option is to try to maintain the current Sales Orders with the current Sales Organization and change the Sales Order in VA02 (your third option).
If you are absolutely sure that all materials and customers are created for the new Sales Area in the same way and that prices (discounts) are the same, you might want to do a direct update to VBAK table to change the Sales Organization (nasty!), but be prepared for the consequences (no SAP support in case of problems, you are on your own).
Therefore if you insist on a different Sales Organization, then option 2) will be your best best.

P.S. IMHO it is Best Practice to have a unique Sales Organization / Company Code.

REad carefully the info coming along with this message.
IF you transport number ranges, then you overwrite existing number ranges in your production system. you transport the e.g. the current number from your development system into production and overwrite there the current number.
As you usually produce less data in Development system than in a production system, the current number will be smaller after the transport, and SAP would then try to create data using the next number, which leads to a dump as thereis already a record in the database having this number.
so you should only transport number ranges if you do not effect existing number ranges in your production system.

How to extend work centers of existing plant to newly created plant?

We have SAP setup for one plant and there are various operations are happening under it which is captured under various work center's. Now we have created new plant under same co code. Can we extend WC to newly created plant? Or we need to create whole list of W/C againg newly.

Hi Experts,
1. I created 2 plants ZAAT and ZAAY, i copy from plant 1000 and 1300 respectively, but i couldn't change the name and rest of fields.
2. When i finished to create the plants there were a message " plant XX copied to YY without 6 number range objects", what does this mean? this affects the assign process or further steps?

The Plant description can be changed, when you do copy from exesting plant, the system copies it with the same name. You may go to SPRO --> Enterprise Structure --> defenition --> Logistics General --> Define Plant
Select your plant --> view details --> You can see an address maintenance button on top right hand side (Envolope icon). --> Click on that, change the name.
The number range issue is not having much problem. Even there is a missing number ranges, you can maintain when it is asking for it at the time of transactions. So go ahead..

No create Plant button at the Set "Delivery Completed" Indicator" config

Dear Gurus,
I would like to do the configuration to set the Delivery Completed indicator. Therefore, I went to the following menupath:
SPRO -> Materials Management -> Inventory Management and Physical inventory -> Goods Receipt -> Set "Delivery Completed" Indicator"
The problem is, I can't find the button to add Plants. Is there even one in the first place ? If yes, where is it ? If no, why not ?
Currently, the only Plant that I can see over here is 0001 - Plant 0001. The delivery completed checkbox is ticked.
Please take note that all the Plants have been setup and the system has Gone Live.

It seems that the plant is not configured properly.Anyhow u can create ur own at the following path.
Spro-MMInventory Management and Physical InventoryPlant Parameters
Set all the indicators applicable to that plant for IM.

Create Plant or just separate Storage Location

I am trying to determine where the magical line is to decide whether to establish a separate address location as a different plant or location. My example is not very complex. It is a satellite production location that produces products for use as raw materials for another production facility that assembles and sells the final product. The satellite location will have a separate cost center and will use activity rates and costing sheets for overhead recovery. My inclination is to set the satellite facility as a plant but supply Chain team sees this as overkill and would rather make it simply a storage locations.
Can someone provide a white paper or list of positives and negatives to storage location versus plant? I know some things might involve the following:
1-If valuation of products are different or may at some point involve different values by location, a plant is needed.
2-If products are sold directly from location, plant would make more sense.
3-If inventroy is transferred between locations with differing addresses, various tax and bank reporting could necessitate the use of separate plants.
4-When manufacturing activities exist, a plant is logical.
5-If all purchasing is performed at a central location, a separate plant may not be required for this purpose.
My existing dilemma relates to the fact that we use costing sheets by plant. Without a separate plant, using different storage locations forces me to use the Material Origin Group to dileneate the extra location if I don't want to use the plant based overhead rates. This seems like a violation of best practice and proper use of SAP.

If you define satellite production location as Storage location you can not do profitable analysis at this unit. My suggestion is activate MRP area at storage location level. So that satellite production unit is treated as separate entity under the same Plant. This will just help you to do the Supply chain activities (purchasing, Sale, Prod and STO) at MRP area level. But Profitability analysis still can be done at Plant level only.
This will solve your point numbers 2, 3, and 4.For material valuation (Point number -1) I think you have to go for split valuation.

FM to create plant maintenance notification

Hi all,
Could anyone help me with this problem! Notification is not getting created when i call the standard BAPI BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_CREATE. I have called the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT .
Tha BAPI returns a notification number .But when i check with this notification number i get a message Notification doesnt exist.
Can anyone give me a solution for this.

Couldn't find Country Code While Creating Plant

Dear Gurus,
Am Working on development server now.we have copied company code 0001 to our company code. but while defining plant i couldnt find country code IN in country list. its showing only US. remaining all others are shaded out.
can anyone tel the reason ?? i have cross checked everything . Everywher i could find IN . but here only i couldnt find IN.
plz explain...............

hi..
as u have defind ur company code by copying the standard one...
and when u are defining your plant..then at this time u have to do nothing with the company code...
while assignment..u assing plant to the company code..ox18..
at SPRO > SAP IMG > SAP Netweaver >General settings >Set countires > define country codes.
at this level..u can define country key and country communication codes...

Cs07-create plant assignment

Hi,
Whether it is possible to extend BOm for materiial with more than 1 level using t code CS07
When I tried even though BOM has 3 levels only 1st level got copied.
What are the other option of extneding completeBOM with all the levels
