Creating playlists on my Zen Ex

I have downloaded about 250 songs into my 40 GB Nomad jukebox Zen Extra. I listen about 4 hours a day. The same songs play over and over again everyday even when I shuffle. Many of the 250 songs have NEVER been played in the 8 months I've had the unit.
I've been told that if I create fi've Playlists of about 50 songs each, I would be able to hear all 250 the songs eventually. On Monday, for example, I could select Playlist one, Tuesday, Playlist two, etc.
Is this correct? How do I create this playlists?
Your reply will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

hi, you can try using Creative Centrale to create a playlist.
first, go to music page and find your player. double click it and you can see an item called "playlist".
then click "New" on the top of the window, choose "new playlist".
enter the playlist name you want then click "OK".
now you can see a playlist in the playlist menu.
drag the songs you want to biuld in the playlist to the playlist and the work is done.
hope it hel
ps.

  • Help with Creating Playlists or similar- Zen Visio

I am starting to feel very frustrated with my Zen Vision M and the software. I have years of experience with computers but little with non-photo media or software. I ripped some 250 CD using various ripping software and no internet connection. The files are fine and are stored on my computer in folders by category...classical, new age, etc. Each folder contains a sub-folder for the individual cd's files. I want to transfer the files (data) to the ZEN so that I can go to a category and then see the individual albums and then select and play an album....seems pretty basic. However, I can not obtain a solution with either Windows Media player or the Creative Software. The play list function seems to add only tracks and not access to a particular CD. I find WM and the Creative software to be very confusing. I downloaded and printed the tech sheets on creating play lists, but I still couldn't solve my problem. I thought I could use Windows explorer to transfer folders and sub- folders to the ZEN, but everything ended in the "album" area as an alpha listing by album (folder) names, which isn't very helpful. Creative tech support wasn't helpful either. Can the ZEN do what I want? How? This is too much time and aggravation for the benefit. Thanks!?Greg

i did some web searching and found several references to the problem. one recommendation i found was to use windows media player to organize the zen vision instead. i toyed with it one evening and it seems like it will work well. things have been too busy lately for me to really take a good look at how flexible it will be.

  • Creating playlists for ZEN To

Just got the 40 gig Touch and love it. My problem is that creating playlists on the Zen is very cumbersome and I would like to create plylists on my PC as I can run a mouse faster than work on the zen. My zen is loaded with songs and I want to make playlists from those files. Can I make them on the synced up zen through mediasource or do I have to make the playlists and then load the songs? Hope someone understands what I'm getting at and any help would be great. Thanks in advance, Brad

It's easy. First You connect Your Zen Touch to PC, then create playlists through MediaSource, Winamp, Audio Catalyst or whatever software You wish. Of course, You have to add songs to playlist from Your Zen Touch, not PC hard dri've (otherwise how did You consider to create playlists before plugging-in Zen Touch)
For example, if You use MediaSource, follow this:
.first of all open it & find the "View" option on the Toolbar. Click on it & put the mark on "Show Right Panel" - this will give add. window to manage your playlists.
2.Find Your Zen Touch in browser, click on it & find "Playlist" sub-catalog. On the playlist toolbar click "New" to create new playlist.
    3. On the right window, that You opened in Step , find Your Zen Touch again, click on it & You will see all songs that You have in Your player.
    4. To add songs from Your player to the playlist use arrow buttons between the windows.
    I hope that will help

  • How do I create an on-player playlist on a Zen X-fi?

How do I create an on-player playlist on a Zen X-fi? I've been trying to figure it out for some time now, but I can't. It's quite annoying.

According to the iPod's User Guide, the iPod does not support them as they are not listed anywhere.

  • Creating playlists in ZEN M100

Hello, I have a problem. I want to create a playlist in zen m00, but I have no idea how to do it. When I choose 'Playlist' in menu, there's a massage: 'Please sync play list to the player'...

"Re: Creating playlists in ZEN M00?No, it doesn't. I've tried creating playlist with Winamp, Playlist creator and m3udropper. I've followed the instructions to change encoding from a ansi to unicode. Every try results in "the playlist is empty", although?when I open the playlist with notepad I can se all the songs. This is really anoying since I use the player to listen to audiobooks as well. To listen to the chapters played randomly is obviously not an option! When is the firmware update coming?

  • Import m3u playlist into creative zen V p

    Hi,
Quick & dirt: does exist any way to import an m3u playlist into my zen V+?
I tried the "import external playlist" feature in mediaorganizer, but when I try to transfer an error message is prompted: "not enough space on device", it's like the MO is trying to phisically transfer the files into the player rather the playlist, wich is supposed to be an index of files...
How do I do transfer just the playlist? Am I allowed to perform such operation?

At this point I'm start to thinking that importing an esternal playlist ain't the right way to create and manage a playlist on zen V.
Well, just to know: what do you folks use to index / group certain songs in your library? I use media monkey to manage my huge library (50 Gb circa), and i rather use one single mediaplayer just not to mess with such library than -say- media monkey *and* creative mediaplayer.
Also i'm using smart SW named 'music IP mixer' to easily create playlists on the go in a nice way, even nicer would be to use the same playlists on my zen, but I didn't work it out since.
And, talking about nice things, that would be fantastic if someone from the tech staff would nicely answer to this very simple question: am I allowed to usem3u indexes on my zen V+?
    Thank you.

  • Playlists - CREATIVE LABS ZEN N

    Hi,
I` am about to buy a CREATIVE LABS ZEN NANO GB and wants to ask if its possible to create playlists on this mp3 player?

No, unfortunately this player doesn't support playlist. If you're looking for playlist capable player, you can look at the Zen MicroPhoto, Zen Micro, Zen Vision, Zen Vision M,etc. Which other player are you interested in? Post them up and others should be able to advise you along too.

  • Playlist Problems on Zen MX

I recently purchased a new zen mx, and after transferring my songs into the player, I wanted to create a playlist. Using the Creative Centrale, I created the playlist and selected all the songs to be included into the playlist. However, after I disconnect the player from the cable, and run the playlist from the player, only a small number of songs from the entire list of songs which I selected were displayed.
I thought I didn't select all the songs properly, and went back to Creative Centrale to check on the playlist, and when I view the playlist from Creative Centrale, the entire list of songs were shown.
Why doesn't my player's playlist display all the songs then?

I've had a Creative Zen V Plus for a couple of years and only bought the Zen MX because the battery on my old Zen got to where it doesn't last but a couple hours. I use my mp3 primarily for recorded books and have always used Windows Media Player to create playlists and have never had a problem with getting playlists transferred to the Zen V Plus. Now you're telling me I have to add each individual track to build a playlist directly onto the player? I don't think so!? Some of the audio books are 20+ discs with more than 20 tracks per disc!?
So, there's no way to easily build a playlist of umpteen tracks and transfer it directly to the player? What a bunch of hogwash!? I had wanted to stay with a Creative product because I liked the set-up of the Zen V Plus so well but I'm highly disappointed so far with the Zen MX.

  • How do I export My Windows XP's WMP's PLAYLIST to my Zen MX player?

    Hi,
I have PLAYLISTS in my Windows Media Player. I can transfer files to my Zen MX. However, I don't know How to export My Windows XP's WMP's PLAYLIST to my Zen MX player? Can anyone help me?

Thanks for your replies. It amazes me that there are people in this forum who would take time from their busy schedule to answer my questions. What do you guys do for a living?
What version of WMP are you using? If it is WMP got to sync tab >in the left-side colum click on playlists & right-click the playlist you want to sync to player & choose "add to sync list" then connect player & start sync.
That's exactly what I did. The mp3 files transferred from WMP to Zen's folders, but not the playlists. In fact, my Zen did not have a Playlist folder displayed in WMP. Can you tell me if yours does?
Also, can you tell me if it is better to use WMP to sync my Zen MX or is it better to use Creative's Centrale software?
Have you tried copying from you computer and paste directly to your zen?
Yes, but WMP creates *.wpl as playlist files while the zen creates *.mpu3. My Zen MX does not seem to recognize? *.wpl.

  • How can I use home sharing between our iphones (create playlists from both accounts at once)

How can I use home sharing between our iphones, so that we can create playlists with songs from both of our libraries?  We share a Macbook Pro (separate accounts) and each have the new iphone, but when I have my iphone and try to create a new playlist, I can only grab songs from one account.  Is there a way to create a playlist using both accounts since we are sharing?
Does it have to be created within iTunes first on our Mac?

The short answer: because Home Sharing isn't designed for sharing apps, and apps aren't designed to be shared.
The longer answer:  Think of it like this...
You download some music in iTunes.  With Home Sharing, another user can listen to it by streaming it over the network.  But the data itself is on your computer.  If you turn off the computer or take it off the network, the other user can't access it.
But if you send another user the app, they aren't just streaming the data- they installed it on their iOS device.  Because they weren't the one that purchased it, such a transfer could easily be considered "piracy" or "stealing," and nobody likes that (least of all, Apple).
When iTunes sees this app, it obviously recognized it, as if saying, "Hey, how did you get this app on your device, if I have no record of you purchasing/downloading it from the iTunes store?"

  • Does anyone know how to create playlists step by step?

I am currently using Musicmatch as I found Itunes a bit fiddly but happy to change back if this helps me - may need help with moving them across!
I really want to setup playlists but I'm having a big problem. I have set my IPOD to manual update.
When I setup a playlist, I set it up directly on my IPOD drive within MusicMatch, right click new playlist (not in the playlist library within Musicmatch then sync them).
I thought doing this would mean my IPOD would see it and I wouldn't have to sync my IPOD each time when I load it up to the PC - then I and drag and drop songs to the IPOD playlist but they never appear in the new playlist and just duplicate in my first playlist (which has all my songs in it)- I end up with 2 of everything.
I read on my instructions that I can create playlists without a PC so directly on my IPOD I presume) by navigating to the song using the wheel then selecting the song till it flashes. When I try to select playlists from my menu - playlist is never there.
Am I being stupid? I have Win XP with 4th gen IPOD - haven't updated any software - do I need to do that?
Please help - I keep running out of battery by jumping around to the songs I want to hear! I don't want to put anymore on there now as its already a nightmare getting through the 600 songs!

There is no such thing as an international iTunes account.
If the iTS is available to a particular country and you qualify - address and credit card from that country - you can open an iTS account and shop from the selecton available to that store.

  • I have always been able to create playlists on itunes, then drag them to my ipod when it was plugged into the mac. I recently downloaded the latest version of itunes, and now I am unable to do that. I am able to drag songs and albums but not my playlists.

I have always been able to create playlists on itunes, then drag them to my ipod when it is plugged into the mac. I recently downloaded the latest version of itunes, and now am unable to do that. I can drag songs and albums to the ipod, but not my playlists. It used to be so easy, am I missing something here?

Plug your iPod into your computer, it will begin to sync. Now check to see if the playlists have been added.
If not, go to the songs tab under your iPod when it is connected to iTunes, Unless you have checked "Sync all songs (or something to those words)" you should have an option on what you can put on your iPod. Make sure to check the playlists that you want on your iPod.

  • I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded?

I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded? The online information suggests all my music will be replaced. Will I have to download it again??

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account."  The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases.  It is also used with iCloud.  iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod.  If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked).  If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • Anyone know how to restore the itunes created playlists?

In a fit of stupidity, I deleted the itunes created playlists(purchased music, recently played, etc.). I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get those back on my source list, and also on my ipod mini. I tried to go the smart playlist route, but there is no criteria for recently played or purchased music. Any help would be greatly appreciated:)
    Thanks
    Dell Dimension 3000   Windows XP

"I tried to go the smart playlist route, but there is no criteria for recently played or purchased music"
    Sure there is....
    For 'Recently Played', you can:
    1) 'Last Played' 'is in the last' xx days/weeks/months OR
    2) Uncheck the 'Match' condition and check the 'Limit' condition to however many songs/GBs/hours selected by 'most recently played'
    For Purchased Music:
    Match 'Kind' contains 'Protected'
Recreate the Smart Playlists yourself. Name them anything you desire.

  • Can't get itunes to create playlist using songs on ipod

How do I integrate the songs on my ipod with the itunes on my new computer without losing my downloads? I successfully authorized my new computer (Windows XP) for my itunes account. When I access my account on the new computer it shows all the songs that are on my ipod (downloaded from old computer) but they are in faint print and I cannot play them or create playlists. Every time I log on, it asks me if I want to copy the songs from the new computer onto the ipod. I tried this once and it wiped out all my other songs. Luckily, I still had the old computer and was able to retrieve my music.

You need to connect the iPod to the original computer. Open Preferences and select the iPod tab. Choose "manually manage songs and playslists."
You need to do it on the computer you want to manually manage songs on, not the original computer.
You will now be able to create the playlists on another computer.
As stated abive, you will hav to set this on teh new computer, not the original.
Also, you don't even need an iPod conected to create or manange playlists on the computer.
If you want to create and manage playlists on the iPod you obviously will need to connect it to a computer.
But doing this only on the iPod is not a good idea because if theiPod crashes, you lose them.
Create them in iTunes and sync them to the iPod.
