Creating Podcasts

This is going to be a really dumb question, I have a MacBook and want to make podcasts for athletes I am training. How do I create podcasts on my Mac and then make them available for my kids to put on their iPods. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer my simple, basic question.

garageband : create & edit audio. add 1400x1400 image.
share to itunes.
drag file to desktop.
upload .m4a file to google drive.
create a link post in wordpress using "podcast" tag & create "podcast" category.
click on "entries rss" in wordpress, which takes me to the rss subscribe page (which is basically just my wordpress address with "/feed" at the end.
i copy this url.
go to itunes store > then "submit a podcast"
itunes gives me the error message "we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed."
when i try to subscribe to my podcast in itunes, it does, but gives me no episodes available.
i went back into wordpress and changed settings/ reading settings to : "full text" from "summary"
still the same error message.
i added a feedburner step after wordpress but got the same errors. i don't think i should have to add feedburner.
wordpress seems to be encapsulating the rss, what am i doing wrong?
this so much easier when you could go directly from garage band to iweb to mobileme; i miss those apple days (also idisk).

if anyone has a super EASY process, i would LOVE to know what it is. EASY, meaning no html and also free. there are many free online storage systems available, many of which i currently use. the above process was just me trying to figure it out, if you have an easier method, please share. thank you so much!

Is the problem that you can create them in iTunes, but they are empty on the iPod itself? If so, I had that problem, and the issue appeared to be that playlists that used MediaType=Podcast didn't seem to transfer. If, on the other hand, I gave all podcasts a Genre of Podcast, it worked better. In general, with the older iPod classic, I found that playlists based on MediaType didn't work that well.

Created Podcast Not showing up in Itunes Store...

Hi Gang...I was wondering does anyone know y my created podcasts are not showing up in the itunes store...my rss feed has been validated and i am able myself to subscribe to it...but when i do a search it does not come up and doesnt show....also how can i find out if ppl have downloaded and listened to my show...my rss feed is jason1977.libsyn.com/rss

When I first created my podcast, I noticed quite a bit of lag between the time my feed got accepted and the time when it would be found when i did a search on iTunes... I think it was like 2 days before a search on my name or the name of my podcast would bring up my feed.
Give it a little while to all come together.

Creating podcasts on windows

Is there a windows program for creating podcasts? Not that garage band isn't all that great, but the podcasts I've done in it have sounded analogish (like a bad tape recording).

Go to the bottom of this forum post. There is a post about someone that has figured it out. It does require the use of Powerpoint to make it happen.
As far as I know this is the first person to figure it out on the PC.

The version naming is very confusing. GarageBand '11 is called '11 because it is part of the iLife '11 bundle. But the the program version is GarageBand 6.0.5. The newest version is GarageBand 10.0, the version you are having.
The problem is, the AppStore will only offer the most recent version to you, unless you already bought the older version. So you cannot buy it from the AppStore. That is why I suggested to buy the boxed version of iLife '11 from a third party, like amazon. That would actually be not a bad bargain. GarageBand '11 has quite a few features, that are no longer supported in GarageBand 10.0, and the iLife '11 package will also include iDVD, so you will have a software to burn video DVSs.
You can keep both GarageBand versions installed; they do not interfere. Don't delete your current GarageBand 10.0, you may want to use the drummers and arpeggiators.

How do I create podcast links that open automatically in iTunes?

I want to create different podcasts and distribute them via emails to my friends. I want to make it as simple as possible, so that my friends can click on the link to my feed, and have iTunes open automatically, and subscribe to my podcast without taking any extra step. In other terms, I don't want my friends to have to open iTunes, choose Subscribe to Podcast, and paste the link.

Yes. Go to your iTunes Music Store Podcast Listing. Control-click on the title of your podcast and it will say "Copy iTunes Music Store URL".
This will copy a URL to your clipboard that looks like: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=74837876
Paste this into your friends' email. They should be able to click on it and launch iTunes automatically and subscribe to your podcast(s). This of course assumes that they have iTunes 6 installed.

ITunes 11.1 and / or the Podcast app on iOS 7 will not allow me to create play lists in iTunes. Is there an app that will allow me to create podcast plays lists and play them on the iPhone running iOS7 ?

iOS 7 will not alow podcasts lists in the music app so we have to use the podcast app
but iTunes 11.1 and / or the Podcast app on iOS 7 will not show podcast play lists created in iTunes (well maybe it does but clicking on the podcasts app causes iTunes to freeze so can not select)
sometime some folders created in iTunes have appeared with the Podcast app but others not.
creating an on the go list in my iphone is agony - I have over 100 podcasts I have subscribed to and when creating a list you can not view by most recently downloadded podcast
AND you can't search (no search bar) so I have to scroll through to find a podcast that might have been updated - but they are not in any logocal order that I can work out (not alphbetical or date added).
Video podcasts are mixed with audio

its a disaster

Agree about the disaster part. I haven't found a fix within iTunes.
I gave up and switched to downcast 2 days ago. Even though it was a hassle to re-subscribe to all my podcasts, im so much happier.
To make switching easier, I found that in iTunes you can "get info" on the podcast and copy the RSS address to the clipboard. Put all of these in a message note. When iCloud syncs the note to your phone, you can copy and paste the urls into downcast one at a time to subscribe.
Downcast has crashed on me occassionally when I'm subscribing to feeds, but so far it has recovered gracefully each time and no data was lost.

Hi,
Once iTunes has your RSS feed (which is automatically created by iWeb provided you have a .Mac account), your podcast will update with each new installment. One thing that I quickly realized, however. DO NOT change the main title of your webpage. Your RSS feed is based on that title. If you change it, your feed will change and your subscribers will not be forwarded. Just a note of caution.

how does one go about creating an artist page for podcasts (like the BBC) and what are the specs for the artwork used and where do you post the artwork to be used

If you have multiple podcasts listed in the iTunes Store, the iTunes staff can create a single page that lists all of them in one place. We call this page an “artist page.” Note that a podcast can only appear on one artist page.
To request an artist page, navigate to one of your podcasts, click on Report a Concern, and select Remove a Podcast. In the dialog box, explain that you would like an artist page, give us the exact name of the artist (please don’t include “Inc,” “LLC,” etc.), and list the exact feed URLs or links to your podcasts.

Creating podcasts and videos using keynote and ???

Hello all,
I am looking for software solutions.
I am preparing to turn some of my lectures into podcasts and quicktime videos. I hope to make it so that each slide has its own audio track so that as the lecture changes over time, so too can just that small bit of audio. For this reason (and the fact that the audio is then built into the lecture) I dont really want to record directly with Keynote.
I have briefly messed around with Garageband to see if this is the best solution, but when I export the Keynote to GB, it wont let me manage the slide time individually. I suppose I could create an image out of each slide and drop that into GB, but that seems rather convoluted.
What have you all been using to create easily modifiable podcasts and quicktime videos from Keynote presentations?

ProfCast provides synchronization of slides with audio and Keynote support.
ScreenFlow can capture your soundless Keynote video as it plays and then allow adding of audio files via drag & drop.

Can a created podcast be synched on an iPhone 5?

I created a podcast so it wouldnt get mixed up with my music, its on my IMac and IPad but i cannot seem to find it on my podcast section on my iPhone 5. Can anyone help me please?

It's a podcast you created by your own, I'm not sure it can appear in Podcast app on your iPhone. Maybe you can try the spotlight on your iPhone and type in the name of the podcast to search for it or go to the Music app to look for it.

Hi all,
Is there a way of creating chapterized podcasts on a pc/windows XP which are usable on an iPod?
I know about the Chapter Tool for Mac and I have searched for like a day on the net, but I could not find anything useful.

I have been into podcasts for a while now and I would like to start making my own, but I don't understand how to make podcasts with Windows! Mac has GB to make the podcasts, but what does Windows have? The tutorials just tell you how to make a podcast on GB, not XP! Can you help me make my first podcast with Windows XP?

Creating podcasts in iWeb

I'm using iWeb to post my podcasts. I have two questions: 1. Does itunes limit the number of episodes it will show. So far I only ever see 10 episodes listed in itunes. 2. I have published 20 podcast episodes in iWeb. Itunes only lists 13 episodes. I can always find my newest episodes, it's my older episodes that are now missing.

If your go to the Entries page, where you can add an episode or delete an episode, just go down the list to an old episode and click its date. That brings up a little window that allows you to change the date to anything you want.
So do that for each episode that is not in the order you want. Then publish.
I think that should square you away.
