Creating Ringtones in i Tunes

Hi,
Recently got an i phone and wanted to make some ringtones up in i tunes. Virtually all my music has come from i tunes, so there should be no problem. However, when I go to create a ringtone I get the following error message evry time:
i Tunes could not connect to the i Tunes Store. An unknown error occured (11556).
Make sure your network connection is active and try again.
My connections are fine and i have no problems connecting and downloading from the i Tunes store. Can anyone offer me some advice as how to overcome this problem?

Itunes created/purchase ringtone are available only in the U.S. at this point.
There are many free ways to make ringtones. Google will find them.

  • How to move newly created ringtones on itunes with extension mr4 to ringtones

I have created ringtones using i tunes. I had no problem creating them, they play well and appear under music in iTunes. One thing that I am unable to solve, is that i can't move the ringtone from music to ringtone tab on the right. I tried dragging it, didn't work. And I also made sure the tones were checked in preferrences. Does anybody can help me or guide me with the issue, will appreciate that.

Chris, you are incredible! Can't tell you how much happier and grateful to you. I was struggling last evening for hours and so frustrated.
It worked. And you explained so well each step.
You will be my first choice to ask something if I need.
I wish I could give you one million points for that.
    Cheers.

  • Trying to create ringtones, but error (11556) appears.

Trying to create ringtones on I-Tunes for I-phone, but when I select a track & go to create ringtones, creation option flashes up for around a second before being replaced by an error:-
"Itunes could not connect to the Itunes store. An unknown error occurred (11556). Please make sure your network connection is active & try again."
My internet connection works fine & I experiene no connection issues in any other part of the apple store, but non of my 2000+ Itunes has the bell icon next to it indicating a ringtone is creatable, even though the majority of tunes are purchased from Itunes.
    Any ideas?

So, this forum suggests it's an issue with iTunes in specific countries not yet supporting ringtone conversion due to copyright restrictions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1372528
This forum backs that up in Australia:

And includes a link to this support document:

I'm having trouble determining for sure based off of your info on the forums, but, are you located in the US or elsewhere?

  • Can't create ringtone (AU)

Whenever I try to create a ringtone, I get an error message...
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occurred (11556). "
My network connection is fine and I have been downloading Apps and songs tonight. It just seems that I can't create ringtones. I'm trying to create a Ringtone on a song purchased from the store just minutes ago, using iTunes 7.7 for an iPhone 3G. I'm in Australia, and therefore use the Australian iTunes store.

Okay - I was reading another thread and tried this and it worked!
'Okay, I tracked down a solution. It's not in any of Apple's related FAQs (it should).
"I was having the same trouble as those posted here, and finally called iTunes Support. They told me that there is a "TOS loop" that happens on the first purchase of a ringtone from a song that is already in your library (in other words, you are repurchasing the tune to make a ringtone). Here is their work-around:
"Go to the iTunes home page, sign in, and download the FREE Single of the Week. There will be no charge. That will give you the prompt to "Accept the Terms of Service" window, which you should accept and click okay. Now go back to the music library window on your desktop, and select the song you want, and choose Create Ringtone. This time, because you've already purchased a new song for a ringtone, you won't get into the TOS loop, and you should see the WAV box at the bottom, which allows you to select and preview your ringtone, then click buy when you're ready."'

  • Create ringtones for I-Phone 5

I have been told 'Myxer' and 'Ventones' are really easy and useful (and free!) to create ringtone for the I-Phone from your own I-Tunes library? I have tried 'Myxer' and for the life of me, I can access the ringtone I appear to have created  via "Apps" on the device screen but cannot get it into my ringtones folder ? Has anyone experienced a similar problem and overcome it? Is Ventones any better/easier? Regards Tony

    download this app http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ringtone-designer-create-unlimited/id382373458?mt =8
I use this one, it also have a youtube videos showing you how to sync your ringtones with itunes.

  • Create ringtone - Error 11556

WHEN I WANT TO CREATE A RINGTONE FROM A TUNE PURCHASED ON ITUNE AND RECEIVE A 11556 ERROR CODE... AND OF COURSE CANNOT CREATE MY RINGTONE!!!

Unless something's changed in the last couple of days, Apple has not been able to obtain licenses to sell ringtones anywhere but in the US as of yet. So you will not be able to create and purchase ringtones through the iTunes Store. There are other ways to create ringtones, though; just search the web for "iPhone ringtones" and you'll find lots of information.
    Regards.
Forum Tip: It is generally considered inappropriate to type all in uppercase letters in Internet discussions, as text that is typed all in uppercase is by convention considered to be shouting. Uppercase is also more difficult to read, so please use all uppercase sparingly and only when you really mean to shout, which we hope you won’t need to do here .

  • Problem creating ringtones - "song no longer available" - PLEASE HELP!

I want to create a couple of ringtones from iTunes I downloaded. First I tried making one from a song contained in an album I bought and downloaded about a month or two ago. iTunes wouldn't let me (for whatever reason) so I bought and downloaded a new song. once it was in my "purchased" folder I added it to a songlist and then right-clicked it and selected "Create Ringtone." I was told I needed to go to the "Terms and Conditions" and accept the "ringtones" agreement, which I did. once I clicked "I accept" I was automatically redirected back to the song list that contained the song- there was never any option or utility to continue (after accepting the terms and conditions) on and make a ringtone from the song.
NOW, when I right-click the song and select "create ringtone" I get a pop-up box that says that "this song can +*no longer*+ be made into a ringtone!" WHAT is the deal? What did I do wrong?
Can someone tell me, step-by-step how to download a song and create a ringtone from it for my iPhone? Is there a tutorial with screenshots anywhere? Somone PLEASE help me out- I cant afford to keep buying songs just to try and figure this out on my own.
    Thanks.
    Nick
P.S. On the iTunes webpage it said that songs that can be made into ringtones will have a ringtone icon next to them in my iTunes library; but that's not happening- even with the new song I just downloaded.

-> Tap '''ALT''' key or press '''F10''' to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Help Menu -> select '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled'''
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:
-> Update Firefox to the latest version by going to Help Menu -> About Firefox -> click '''Check for Updates''' -> if an updated version is found then download the latest version and install it. After that follow these steps:
-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> unselect All Unwanted toolbars
-> click the Favicon on SearchBar -> click '''Manage Search Engines''' -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click '''Remove''' -> click OK
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

  • ITunes Created Ringtones No Longer Playing

All of the sudden for no reason at all (i.e., I haven't damaged, added to or subtracted from apps, etc) the custom ringtones I made in iTunes are not playing on my iPhone. If I choose them in the settings menu, all I get is silence. I've got customs ringtones I created in Garageband that still work fine as do all the stock ringtones on the phone.
The iTunes ringtones show up and play fine in iTunes. They show as synced to the phone. I've restored the phone OS three times without using a backup so it would be fresh. This is FRUSTRATING! Anyone have any ideas?

Okay, I completely removed iTunes and reinstalled. Re-imported my library of music/podcasts in a completely recreated iTunes library file AND still my iTunes created ringtones (THAT I PAID FOR) don't play. They are silent on the iPhone. They play in iTunes but not the phone.
    Any ideas? This is sickening.
Is there any way a hardware issue would cause this? I would think if it plays some music, it must be software. I just have no idea where to look now.

  • ITunes will not create Ringtone - iTunes Library is on ext hard drive

I see the bell in iTunes, iTunes analyzed my library to identify ringtonable songs but when I click to Create Ringtone it processes then doesn't do anything. I keep my library on an external hard drive to allow for my wife to connect to it at will. Must the library be local to store the ringtones?

I have the same issue. It looks like it will create it then just quits.

  • How to create ringtones with itunes?

ok how do i go about creating ringtones with the music in my playlists in itunes? and how do i transfer ringtones that are on my computer to the ringtone library?

Everyone seems to have their way to make a ringtone. There are aspects of Garage Band which I find cumbersome, but you need Garage Band to create and transfer your ringtone to your iTunes library. Try this.
    1. Download and install Audion 3, a free Mac mp3 editor (http://www.panic.com/Audion/
    2. Open Audion 3, then under File go to "open mp3 in editor.
    3. Navigate to your song via home/music/itunes/itunes music to the folder and then mp3 you want to make into a ringtone
    4. Identify which brief section you want for your ringtone, say from 22 seconds to 52 seconds of the song, drag and highlight that section in the mp3 editor, then under Edit click on Copy.
    5. Go back to Audion 3 and under File click on New mp3 editor. Paste your saved file into that space. Under File again click Save As, give it a name and the suffix .mp3, save to your desktop.
    6. Open Garage Band, iPhone ringtones, loops, choose
    7. Delete anything which Garage put in main space, then drag your mp3 into that space. After it sets up, go to share and send ringtone to iTunes.
    8. Sync. Be sure your check Sync all Ringtones, otherwise you have to individually click on your new rintone.

  • How do I create a second I Tunes library on my Mac computer?

How do I create a second I Tunes Library on my Mac computer?

Hold down the option key while starting iTunes.
It's up to you but sometimes it helps to provide more details as to why you want to do this.  What I told you may not necessarily be the best answer in all situations.

  • Created ringtone, but itunes created a Tones folder instead of Ringtones

I created a ringtone by cutting a song up into a 29 sec. clip. converted to .m4r and synced with my iphone.  itunes and the phone created a Tones folder and put the file there, but there is no Ringtones folder and I cannot find the tone on the phone to choose as a ringtone or sms tone.

Yes, I have it set to sync everything.  When the iphone was docked it syncd and downloaded the newly purchased tone onto my PC itunes. Looking at the the Tones folder while docked in itunes and I can see both files in the Tones folder of the iphone and the PC.  I've scrolled through the whole list of tones and do not see my created ringtone at all.
i know I have gotten it onto the phone. When I first created the ringtone and syncd the iphone it created the Tones folder on the phone and I immediately saw the ringtone on the phone.
I assume that there is something wrong with the file that I created like the bitrate or filesize that is keeping the iphone from recognizing it.  I have not had trouble with this in the past though.
I used a 3rd party program to cut up the song to make the ringtone as I always have.  Should I try to use itunes to make the ringtone?

  • Create Ringtones in iTunes 10- AAC Version greyed out

Need assistance creating ringtones in iTunes 10:
I have iTunes 10 on a Windows PC.  I went into Preferences, General, IMPORT SETTINGS and set it to AAC Encoder and HIGH QUALITY (128 bkps) and checked the Error Correction.
The AAC Version in the ADVANCED drop down is still showing as being GREYED out after selecting an MP3  with 0 and 30 seconds as the time limits in GET INFO for a song.
I have searched for a possible "fix" to get the AAC Version to be available.  Nothing works so far.  HELP!!
    [email protected]

I had the same problem until I realized that I first need to buy the song and then create the ringtone from the already purchased song. The instructions could have been made clearer on this, and it would be great if you could use the ring tone creation tool to check if the song really fits before you buy the song…
    Good luck

  • Problems with 'Create Ringtone' Function in iTunes

I am using an iPhone, connected to iTunes 7.5(19) on a MacBook running Mac OS X 10.4.11 Within iTunes there is the option to 'Create Ringtone' which as I understand it, should be selected once a song has been selected within the iTunes window (ie one that has already been purchased). When I do this, I get the message "ITunes could not connect to the iTunes Store" - this is confusing as I can successfully connect to the iTunes store from iTunes to do all the usual things I would normally do in linking to the store. Any insights/suggested fixes would be appreciated as I have drawn a blank with everything that I have tried to do to solve this.

I have exactly the same problem with a new imac and iphone. itunes have been unable to help. Have you solved it problem yet?
