Creating Ringtones on itunes for iPhone

I have been trying to create ringtones for my iPhone from itunes.
But every time I try ti great it, it comes up with an unknow error 1156. and says that itunes cannot connect to itunes store.
Is anyone else is also facing this problem?

This worked for me...
In iTunes, right click on the song you are going to make into a ringer and select “Get Info.”
Go to the options tab and go down to the “Start Time” and “Stop Time” check boxes. Check both boxes and input the time you want your ringtone to start/stop. The ringtone has to be 30 seconds or less. Click OK when you’re done.
Right click on your newly “clipped” song and select “Convert Selection to AAC.” The song will be re-encoded using the start and stop times determined (If your menu item does not read “Convert Selection to AAC” and reads “Convert Slection to MP3″ (or some other format) please go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > Importing and change the “Import Using” drop down menu to “AAC Encoder”).
After the song is done encoding navigate to your iTunes Music folder, locate your song, and drag it to your desktop. After the song is on your desktop go back to iTunes and delete the clipped version from you iTunes library (It won’t delete it from your desktop, it will only remove it from iTunes).
Go back the song on your desktop and right click on your song and chose “Get info.” Go to the name and extension section and change the extension from .m4a to .m4r (or you can just change the extension right from your desktop)
After the extension is changed simply double click on the file to add it to your iTunes library under the ringtones section. Sync your phone with iTunes and you’re done!
What you need to do is turn on "View File Extensions" under your folder view options.
Then go to your desktop right-click, rename and change the .m4a to .m4r and sey yes when it asks if youre sure.

Creating ringtones from itunes iPhone 5?

The name of the folder shown on the left under Library changed to Tones recently but I thought the tab at the top, while syncing, still said Ringtones.  I guess I'm not sure.   At any rate there are many youtube videos that will walk you through this if you want to check to be sure you are doing it correctly.  Here's one I picked at random: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwXUM2kCfig.

  • Create Ringtones in iTunes 10- AAC Version greyed out

Need assistance creating ringtones in iTunes 10:
I have iTunes 10 on a Windows PC.  I went into Preferences, General, IMPORT SETTINGS and set it to AAC Encoder and HIGH QUALITY (128 bkps) and checked the Error Correction.
The AAC Version in the ADVANCED drop down is still showing as being GREYED out after selecting an MP3  with 0 and 30 seconds as the time limits in GET INFO for a song.
I have searched for a possible "fix" to get the AAC Version to be available.  Nothing works so far.  HELP!!
    [email protected]

I had the same problem until I realized that I first need to buy the song and then create the ringtone from the already purchased song. The instructions could have been made clearer on this, and it would be great if you could use the ring tone creation tool to check if the song really fits before you buy the song…
    Good luck

HELP!!!! How do you clear up some or more of the yellow Other in iTunes for iPhone? To Free up more room on your iphone?

A  ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

  • Can't find ringtone option on iTunes PC, but can on iTunes for iPhone?

I can't find the option to search ringtones on iTunes on my PC, even when I search by an artist. However, when I search the artist on iTunes on my iPhone, the ringtones come up. What am I doing wrong? I'd much rather use iTunes on my PC to purchase music/ringtones. Thanks.

I am having a similar issue. Trying to figure which of my already purchased tunes are available as ringtones and can't do that either. if you get this figured out will you post the results? Thanks! M

  • How to create ringtones with itunes?

ok how do i go about creating ringtones with the music in my playlists in itunes? and how do i transfer ringtones that are on my computer to the ringtone library?

Everyone seems to have their way to make a ringtone. There are aspects of Garage Band which I find cumbersome, but you need Garage Band to create and transfer your ringtone to your iTunes library. Try this.
    1. Download and install Audion 3, a free Mac mp3 editor (http://www.panic.com/Audion/
    2. Open Audion 3, then under File go to "open mp3 in editor.
    3. Navigate to your song via home/music/itunes/itunes music to the folder and then mp3 you want to make into a ringtone
    4. Identify which brief section you want for your ringtone, say from 22 seconds to 52 seconds of the song, drag and highlight that section in the mp3 editor, then under Edit click on Copy.
    5. Go back to Audion 3 and under File click on New mp3 editor. Paste your saved file into that space. Under File again click Save As, give it a name and the suffix .mp3, save to your desktop.
    6. Open Garage Band, iPhone ringtones, loops, choose
    7. Delete anything which Garage put in main space, then drag your mp3 into that space. After it sets up, go to share and send ringtone to iTunes.
    8. Sync. Be sure your check Sync all Ringtones, otherwise you have to individually click on your new rintone.

  • How to create ringtones through itunes on mac computer?

    Okay so,
I've made ringtones before but it's been awhile and I know there used to be an option once you purchased the song that from there you could create a ringtone on your computer through itunes and pay 99c for it or whatever but I can't for the life of me find any option on how to create a ringtone. I've searched throughout itunes and looked through the FAQ and support and NOTHING talks about it except for on the iphone there is a section for ringtones but the selection seems extremely limited. Someone please help?

Type "create iphone ringtone in itunes" into the google search bar.

  • Cannot create ringtones in iTunes Store.

Hi all... I just got an iPhone and setup/activation all went fine. Then I signed in to the iTunes store to buy some ringtones and it won't let me. I can see the bell icon on ringtone-eligible songs, but when I click it I get a page entitled "Learn more about ringtones for your iPhone" which basically just gives step-by-step instructions on how to do it. At the bottom of the page is a "Go back" button which takes me back to the list of songs. I do not get the ringtone editor.
So I tried it another way... using the "Create ringtone..." command in the Store menu. But I can't click it because it's grayed out.
So then I tried this: i go to my own music library (not the store) and choose a song I already purchased from iTunes that I know is ringtone-eligible. I right-click on the track and choose "Create ringtone..." from the contextual menu. The ringtone editor appears for a like half a second, then disappears and I'm prompted to log in to the iTunes store. So I enter my password and click Sign In and the login prompt appears again. So I try again and the same thing happens yet again. The only way out is to click cancel and give up.
Can someone help me???? It's totally frustrating.

  • Problems creating ringtones in iTunes 9.0.2 and 9.0.3

I have had problems creating ringtones for my iPhone in iTunes versions 9.0.2 and 9.0.3. When I select "create ringtone" when right clicking on a song, iTunes brings up the bar at the bottom for creating ringtones then says...
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unexpected error occurred (11556). Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
    1. My network connection is active. 2. I am logged into my iTunes store account.
Does anyone know why this is happening, and better how to fix it?

You can buy them from the iphone itself. Instructions can be found in the manual:

There are many ways to make ringtones. Google "iphone ringtone" and you will find instructions.
