Creating Secondary Domain

I am having issues in one of my portal domains that is ongoing. In the interim I would like to create an additional domain on the same servers. Do I need to have a new database built for this or does it store the portal tables completely seperate since it is a different domain?
Thanks

Hmmm...so if it creates it's own prefix then it sounds like it would make additional entires in the database rather than overwrite or drop the other domain(s) data. Please confirm if you can. I will still create a new DB for the new domain, just would like to fully understand this scenario. Thanks for your help.

  • Web Access in secondary Domain creating *.tmp files on root

I have a Groupwise 7.01 Webaccess server on a secondary domain and am seeing temporary files being created on the root of the sys volume and dump files ie _T-oo960.tmp and CORE0.dmp. Checking the dates shows they are from March May and June I ahd not seen this before and want to delete them.
Does anyone know why they are being created and how to stop them ?

  • Creating secondary linux domain & post office @ another city

I have a primary domain and post office in one city. Consoleone, shows them on my NSS volumes as /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/domain and /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/po
I created a new domain for another city, and gave it UNC pathing \\portland\MAIL\groupwise\domainnc. It did create the domain in eDirectory, but made a file structure under /mnt called /mnt/portland/MAIL/groupwise/domainnc. Not sure about what was going on with that, I copied the directory structure and all the files from there to the proper location of the portland server, started the domain and it fired up. Both domains showed that each other was up, communicating presumably entirely by IP.
I loaded ConsoleOne on the portland server and can see both domains.
    So far so good.
When I created the new portland post office on the primary domain server, it did the exact same thing, making a /mnt/portland/MAIL/groupwise/ponc file structure, which again I copied to the portland server.
when I fired up the post office on the portland server, it did start and sat there looking like a post office (I did the --show option in linux), however none of the domains seem to recognize that there is a running post office. In fact, my domain in portland doesn't even know that it has a post office. It says that it sees another domain, but that it has 0 post offices configured so far. Consoleone on the portland server does not show a post office for portland.
ConsoleONe on the primary groupwise server does show the post office or I should say did, last friday. Today (Sunday) it's not there anymore.
I suspect my problem has something to do with mounting the file system of the portland server on the primary domain/post office server, but I'm unclear how those commands work.
Also, I'm unclear as to why I really need that if everything communciates via TCP/IP. Seems like it's only the portland server that physically needs to know about the post office physical file location. When I try using unc pathing (i.e. \\server\volume\location) ConsoleOne changes it to /mnt/server/volume/location.
Trying to find a concise document on this, but haven't found it yet.
    Any ideas?

If no instance of ConsoleOne see the new PostOffice anymore, it might be
time to recreate again, but this time do so on the server that you are
creating it for with that instance of ConsoleOne.
As for addressing within ConsoleOne for the Domains and PostOffices, make
sure they are pointing to the real location of the files
    So for your Portland server/domain/postoffice
    /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/domainnc
    /media/nss/MAIL/groupwise/ponc
The only real reason for those file pointers are for the agents (MTA &
POA) to see their files, so the format needs to in relation to where the
agents are running. Everything else should be over IP.

  • Clustering Configuration with Primary & Secondary Domain Controllers

    Hello.
I am trying to configure Failover Clustering on my Server 2012 computers.
I have a primary domain, as well as a secondary domain.
We will call them dc1.domain.com and dc2.domain.com.
I have Failover Clustering Manager installed on both servers.
Upon adding them both to the Create A Cluster Wizard, I receive the following error message on my report.
(My account is fairly new, so it will not let me attach an image, but I assure you, it is safe)
    s14.postimg.org/lssjm2vu9/Screenshot_1.png

More that trying to avoid clustering domain controllers, you simply cannot do it.  Active Directory has high availability built into it.  It is known as multimaster, meaning there is no primary and secondary domain controllers.  All are 'masters',
meaning you can make changes on any domain controller and the change will be replicated to the other DCs.
If you only have two physical servers and you want to cluster them, you will first need to install the Hyper-V role on the servers (it is not recommended to install both Hyper-V and Domain Controller on the same box, so we will get this fixed).  Once
you have Hyper-V installed, build a VM on each server, join them to the domain, and promote them to domain controllers.  On one of the VMs, seize the FSMO roles from the FSMO master.  Then demote the physical hosts from being domain controllers.
You can now form a cluster of the two physical servers.

  • New Secondary domain communication issue

We are currently migrating our GroupWise system from GW8 on Netware to GW14 on SLES11.
The primary domain has been migrated (using Danita's guide) and I've created a new secondary domain, and Post Office and it's been mostly trouble free (see my previous thread on this forums)
I've created another secondary domain, and installed a GWIA on it. Everything appears to be working, and it routes e-mail as it should.
However, there definitely is an issue that is particularly demonstrable when creating a new user.
    Test 1:
    > Connected to PO Domain
    > Create user
    > Check user exists
    > Connect to GWIA Domain - new user does not appear.
    Test 2:
    > Connected to GWIA Domain
    > Create user
    > User appears but greyed out
    > Connect to PO domain - user present and been tested working.
So it appears that the GWIA Domain is able to communicate out, but isn't receiving comms from other Domains.
I've quadruple checked the link configuration and the GWIA domain is set to communicate by direct IP (both inbound and outbound) to the other Domains and vice versa.
I've also checked the permissions on the wpdomain.db file and they appear to be identical to those on the other domains.
At the moment I can resolve these by running a rebuild on the GWIA domain - which is obviously a bit of a 'nuclear option', and any new users created, moved, etc necessitate another rebuild.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot further, or anything obvious I've overlooked?
    Thanks in advance.

This has been a bit of epic SR with Novell, down to being in totally different time zones and having little overlapping work time, but it's fixed.
I've included all of the fault finding and fix attempts in case these help someone else.
    Fault finding:
    > While connected to the Primary domain I changed the description of a secondary domain that was having the issue.
    > Checking the logs on the secondary domain, we found the message was getting queued to /wpcsout/ads/2
    > Checking this folder I found 678 files - so definitely an issue of admin messages not being processed for some time.
    Fault Fix 1:
    On Secondary domain:
    > delete contents of wpcsout/ads/2
    > rename wpdomain.db on
    > rebuild secondary domain
As soon as I started the MTA again, a message was immediately created in the wpcsout/ads/2
In pending operations an entry was listed with a creation date of December - so we'd found our culprit.
    Fault Fix 2
    On Secondary domain:
    > Followed Novell Document ID 7013078
    To paraphrase the document -
    > Stop the MTA, rename wpcsin, wpcsout and mslocal folders
    > restart MTA
Again, file reappeared immediately in wpcsout/ads/2, and pending operation came back.
    Fault Fix 3
    On Secondary domain:
    > Stop all agents on server
    > rename domain directory
    > create new directory with same name
    > copy wpdomain.db and any .dc files from old domain folder to new.
    > copy wpgate folder from old domain folder to new
    > copy .mta files from old domain folder to new
    > restart agents
Again, file reappeared immediately in wpcsout/ads/2, and pending operation came back.
    Final Fix
    > Clear any pending operations on the secondary domain, if possible (Ours was clear since it seemed to not be processing any messages any way)
    > copy .dc files from primary domain directory in to the secondary domain directory
    > carry out renames as per doc 7013078
    > Restart secondary Domain MTA
This fixed it. I've changed the description of a secondary domain, and the change has gone through.
I have also created a user and it does now appear when connected to all the secondary domains
Quite why the .dc files gave it the kick it needed our support guy or the backline engineer who was also assisting couldn't explain, but it is apparently something that has been found to fix it.

  • Problems Removing Secondary Domain and agents

I had a secondary Domain and a gwia and webaccess agent running on an vm box. The box had issues and crashed and I was unable to recover it. I am now left with a secondary domain and two gateways that I can cannot get rid of because the edir objects are gone. I get this error when I try to connect to the gateways....E-Directory counterpart of this object does not exist. The objects are not in edir. I am also unable to delete the domain because it has subordinates left under it. What are my choices for cleaning this out. I really would like to get this resolved before I try to upgrade to GW8.
Thanks so much for your help!
    Rodney Neal

This can be fairly difficult given your situation of not being able to recover the server so you might consider opening a service request with a partner or Novell Technical Support. I will try to give you the steps to follow though here..
    1. You need to first get the object back in the tree. To do this, you must graft them in by selecting a container in the tree and selecting Tools|GroupWise Utilities|GW/eDIr Associations|Graft GroupWise Objects. Follow the wizard through all the steps. This should get you the objects back though I do not understand why they would be gone in the first place with just a server crash. I assume that eDir was on other servers as well so wondering if you manually deleted the objects but either way, that is what you need to do.
    2. This is where it can be a bit tricky. You need to create a temp folder on the server and rebuild the secondary domain into that folder so that you have a database to work with. Just go to properties of that secondary domain and change the UNC path to point to the temp folder and then under GroupWise Utilities|System Maintenance choose Rebuild Database. In the end, there should be a wpdomain file in that temp folder.
    3. Copy in all the .dc files from your primary domain root folder into this temp folder.
    4. You now need to Release that secondary domain from the GroupWise system. To do this, make sure you are connected to the primary GW domain and then right click on the secondary in question and choose GroupWise Utilities|GroupWise System Maintenance and then there is an option to release secondary. This also brings up a wizard to walk you through the process.
    5. Now the secondary should show up in your live system as an external system. You just need to go under Tools|GroupWise System Operations|External System Synchronization and delete the new link it automatically created.
    6. Now you can just delete the objects. You may need to delete them separately from the tree afteward.
Let me know if you have any more questions or need clarification.

  • Removing a secondary domain

I am in the process of upgrading our GW system to 2012 and cleaning up some unneeded stuff in the GW system. I have a secondary domain running with the post office off of it that is no longer needed. I deleted the post office already. Now, the documentation says you can just delete the domain if there are no subordinate objects off of it, which there aren't, but then I see articles on going through a process of releasing it and then creating external system and then deleting it. What is the difference between the two procedures and in my case can't I just connect to priimary domain and delete the secondary objects?

As Laura already mentioned, simply deleting the secondary domain object while having the MTA's running is the easiest way to to it. You might need to unlink paths to and from the domain you are deleting before you are allowed to do so. But that's it.
The only reason I've ever used the release method, is when dealing with an old domain object that wasn't cleaned up but the server that was hosting the domain was long gone, or when having to split off a part of a GroupWise system into it's own system/join another.

  • Unable to set up secondary domain on OES11 server

Ok, I admit I'm fairly easy to confuse, but...
How can I access NSS volumes on an OES11 server from the server's desktop?
I'm setting up a new secondary domain for webaccess on an OES11 server.
When I set up the domain in C1 from my Windows computer, my only choice for the location of the domain files is the NSS volume on the server.
The Linux-based installation process for the agents, however, cannot see the NSS volumes.
As such, I cannot specify the location of the domain database file.
    What's a body to do?

    Cheers,
    Willem
Thanks for the quick reply, Willem.
Unfortunately, when I supply that path, the installation process says it doesn't exist.
The Linux installation interface allows me to browse as far as /media/nss, but manually supplying the rest of the path gives the same result.
The server name is gw8mail and the domain files are located on the sys volume in a folder labeled "8dom".
C1 identifies the volume as "gw8mail_SYS".
So for the path, I've tried "/media/nss/sys/8dom", "/media/nss/SYS/8dom", and"/media/nss/gw8mail_SYS/8dom", all without success.
I fully recognize that this is only indirectly a GroupWise problem, but Novell provides no explicit documentation with regard to setting up components on their current platform of choice.
This makes it very frustrating for those of us who are not well-versed in the SUSE world, but recognize the need to move off of NetWare.
Our only other alternative is running the system on a Windows platform.
From what I've read, you give up some performance if you go that route, but if Novell can't be bothered to provide comprehensive documentation, it leaves little choice for those of us not yet up-to speed on Linux.

  • What is the "No database index" means when you Creating Secondary Indexes?

    HI,
I'm Creating Secondary Indexes in the maintenance screen of the table(se11)
There are three options under "Non-unique Index":
       1.Index on all database systems
       2.For selected database systems
       3.No database index
    My questions is :
What do u mean by "No Database Index" and when is it used.
Can anybody plz tell me what's the difference of this three options ?
Here is what i found in the help:
No database index: The index is not created in the database. If you
choose this option for an index that already exists in the database,
it is deleted when you activate this option.

    Hi,
It is clear from the help documentation,
Here see what the help document says:
Create the index in the database (selection)
Whether an index improves or worsens performance often depends on the database system. You can therefore set whether an index defined in the ABAP Dictionary should be created in the database.
This makes it easier to install a platform-specific customer system.
You can set this option as follows:
    1. Index in all database systems: The index is always created in the database.
    2. In selected database systems: The index is created depending on the database system used. In this option, you must specify the databases in which the indexes are to be created. You can do this either on an inclusive (list of systems on which it should be created) or an exclusinve (list of systems on which it should not be created) basis. In either case, you can list up to four different database systems.
    3. No database index:: The index is not created in the database. If you set this option for an index that already exists in the database, it is deleted when you activate the table in the ABAP Dictionary.
Note: Unique indexes have an extra function, and must therefore always be created in the database. The database system prevents entries or index fields being duplicated. Since programs may rely on this database function, you cannot delete unique indexes from the database.
    Hope it helps you,

    CFGFWK-60839:  Database Load Failed!
Please help me if you find any problem with the steps that I am following to create my weblogic_portal_domain.
I was following the steps mentioned at : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14252.pdf to create my domain to start portal development.

Those are the WLP 10.3.2 instructions. But, the 10.3.4 instructions in the tutorial (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26806_01/wlp.1034/e14252/setup_dev_env.htm#i1014619) are wrong, too.
In 10.3.4, with derby, Run Scripts doesn't work any longer; it should still work the other database (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.). Instead, for derby, just create the domain, accepting any warning dialogs about databases that come up. After that finishes, in the domain directory, run create_db.cmd (on windows) or create_db.sh (on *nix and Mac). It should create the derby database files in the domain, and include everything needed.
I'll send a note to get the docs updated.

    Hi ..Try,
    1) Check your database and ensure thar DEMODB schema is exist or not.
    2) Exit JDeveloper and then delete  or rename the folder "C:\Users\sumandal\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system12.1.2.0.40.66.68". Start JDeveloper and run integrated weblogic server . Provide the essential things like password, host etc. I hope this will solve your issue.
You can refer the below link also if you do not get the solution after doing the second step.

  • OBIEE 11.1.1.7 installation Issues - Fails on Creating a Domain

    Hi,
I have completed all the steps mentioned in different posts in this forum regarding my error, but none of them helps. After comprehensive searching i have tried to install OBIEE with these steps also.
    1st time installation:
    1. Followed simple steps
       a) Created schema using RCU on MS SQL Server successfully.
       b) After that ran the setup of OBIEE, it succeeded all the way, but when it was configuring it stuck on Creating Domain, and eventually failed after 180 minutes.
    2nd time installation:
I completely removed, OBIEE from my system, with all the registry entries included. Started a fresh installation after reading all these forum posts. but still it failed again on Creating a domain, this time i kept on re-trying for 3 times, it failed and it took me about 315 minutes overall.
    a) Create a loop back adapter.
    b) Assigned that adapter an IP (10.10.10.10). Configured the /etc/host file reflecting my adapter IP and hostname.domain name.

    (Above is my /etc/hosts file.
    c) Installed Java JRE & JDK (7) on C:\JAVA and set the environmental variables in PATH (System Variable).

    Hello 0ad6e3fe-e3d8-4867-8ba9-780c4a7150ff,
Your name must be hard to type, let alone remember. Please choose a more speaking name / handle for this forum since it's inconvenient talking to an alphanumeric string rather than a person.
You seem to have port issues:
java.lang.Exception: Unable to find a free port in range 7001 and 7500
java.lang.Exception: Unable to find a free port in range 9500 and 10000
java.lang.Exception: Unable to find a free port in range 9500 and 10000
However you're on Windows, so I suggest you check the last post in this thread: Re: OBIEE 11.1.1.5 installation Error on windows 7 64 bit
