Creating server based folder on mac/me IMAP- Problem!!!

I'm having a problem creating an IMAP server based folder to sync with my iphone.
I can create one for my personal domain email account, which, when sync via itunes appears in my mail app on the iphone.
But when I try to create one for my .mac/.me account, it does not appear in my Mail app on my computer, let alone on my iphone.
I click the '+' at the bottom of the left hand pane, click 'new mailbox' and then using location 'mac', with the nice picture of the cloud, enter the name I'd like it to have.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, or do I have a bug?
Thanks
Al

  • 10.5.6 windows cannot create server based profiles

    Hi @ all,
at time i plan to migrate my 10.4.11 tiger to 10.5.6 leopard, this fileserver stores the user home and profiles for 40 Windows Users.
I installed a new server with leopard 10.5.6 and tested the server if the user who are loggin into my OD gets his porfile and home from this server.
    Yes right, it won't work.
    Following is the setup
Windows XP sp2 joined in the domain MYDOMAIN and gets his profile and home from filesrv1 (this setup works)
    filesrv3 with AFP/NFS/SMB
smb standalone, identifiedy by NTLMv2 & Kerberos/NTLM/LAN-Manager, Latin 1(850), Use wins sever xxx.yyy.zzz.
sharing a folder /Volumes/System/Users as Users with SMB guest access allowed and owner rights read&write
sharing a folder /Volumes/System/Users/Profiles as Profiles wit SMB guest access allowed, strict locking, owner rights read&write
Now setting in the WGM the home directory and the windows Profile to filesrv3 following appears

The logs on my server says the following

In the profile folder the directory for this user is created but nothing more.
The Home is mapped to V: after login but no profile is created or loaded.
It seems the the samba cannot speack correctly with the LDAP.
    anyone knows somthing about this?

This doesnt work for me either, I ended up setting the profile path to C:\Documents and Settings\shortname which is OK for me but I only have a few users and a handful of PC's.
This results in proper authentication using OD, and a roaming profile that exists on the local XP computer. I map H: to my home directory and store everything there and I am done.
When Roaming Profiles work properly Id like to implement them. But even then, because Id like to implement 'group policies' I need more and it seems hard to avoid a Windows server for profiles and policy management. I would prefer not to have any Windows admin machines.

  • How to create a photo folder on Mac?

Hello! I am new to the Mac world, and am interested in making a folder for pictures. Like a folder for pictures of a party and titling it "December Party". I knew how to do this on my PC, but can't figure it out on my Mac. Thanks!

  • Mac Mail IMAP Problem: Actually Seems to Be an AOL Problem

For what it is worth, After much futile tweaking, it would appear that what I, and a number of other users thought was a Mac Mail problem, to wit, the need to Offline>OnLine to get mail, may actually be a problem with AOL (and possibly other e-mail services).
Apparently, AOL is manipulating its outbound mail port(s) to limit server demand. I've reached this conclusion after noticing how on weekends and nights, mail seems to work fine with AOL.
    Comments anyone?

  • Server-based output

I've been working on a help system but have not published it
yet. In my RH experience I haven't dealt with system issues. Now my
current project needs to be published, and I'm afraid my version of
RH is insufficient. It's Robohelp HTML X5, and it apparently does
not create server-based help. Is that correct? (This will be much
easier if I'm wrong.) The software being documented is .NET-based,
so it appears I need Robohelp Pro for .NET. I spoke with Adobe and
there is NO migration path from Robohelp HTML X5 to Robohelp Pro
for .NET. Meaning I have to spend the full $2000 for it. This in
turn creates a problem for me persuading the development group
    about this.
So, is there any way for Robohelp HTML X5 to create
server-based help? Can anyone suggest a migration path from what I
have that does not cost $2000?

    Chris
It is entirely wrong to think that RH HTML X5 does not
produce server based help. It is the webhelp output and on my site
you will see many links to RH demos which are running on the same
server as my site. Professionally most of the help I produce is
    webhelp running on servers.
.NET is a different issue but I believe webhelp will run
there but there may be extra features the .NET version gives.
However, if you don't need them...
I am sure some with .NET knowledge will come in on that.

  • E4200 v1- problem creating a shared folder for the FTP server.

    Hi,
I'm trying to share an external USB harddrive (4TB- HFS+) that is attached to my e4200 router.  I'm trying to set up the FTP server, but when I try to create a shared folder, I get kicked out of the browser based interface for the router just as I'm trying to save the new shared drive.  I have tried many different things to get it to work: different computers (PC and Mac) different browsers, reflashing the firmware (which is version 1.0.06, build 3), I tried all of this with an NTFS formatted drive as well-  everytime I try to set up the shared folder- right as I hit the save button it kicks me out saying: Session Failure.
I can see my drive on the local network, and I know the FTP server is working, because I can log into it from the outside- but I don't see anything shared, when I do.
I have successfully gotten the media server to work using the same drive- but I can't create shared folder there either...  It seems to have shared the entire disk automatically when I first connected the drive to the router.
Anybody have anything else for me to try?
    Help!

Same problem. Has anyone found a solution? I contacted tech support and got nonsense responses. I was of course asked to Factory Reset even though I told them I had done it before I called - classic brush off. Basicly here is the problem.
    1. I cannot create a share on a USB connected HDD - this worked on the older Firmware. Now every time I try to set up the shared folder- right as I hit the save button it kicks me out saying: Session Failure. I am not the only person with the problem. Crazy thing is I had a share created and it worked after the upgrade. I wanted to add an additional share and now it wont share anything. HDD plugged into my PC works great. I was asked to try a different PC - even though I told them I tried from IE, Chrome, Firefox on a Windows 7, Vista, windows XP, IPad, Kindle and Samsung phone.
    2. While troubleshooting with the agent I discovered that although I have remote access disabled in the Administration>Management page but I can still access the router remotely. This is a huge security issue.
    3. Linksys is no longer a Cisco Company - if the code is this bad Belkin should take the Cisco logo out of the GUI. Don’t blame Cisco for your poor SW.
I am ready to buy a new router and avoid Linksys and Belkin all together in light of these issues.
Additionally, I would simply downgrade but the older Firmware is not available. When I asked for it I was told I could not get it.

  • Creating a folder in Mac os

    HI all,
How to create a folder in Mac os using java ? In windows i use
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process proc = rt.exec("cmd.exe /c mkdir directoryname");
    Please help me....
    Thanks in advance
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
I saw your post and question,. The way you said u create a folder in windows using the Runtime class is somehow cumbersome and reduces platform independence. Even some versions of Windows may not recognize cmd.exe.
    Why not just use the mkdir() method of the File class? This create a new directory and I believe this should work in Mac too though I did not really test it. But I believe it should work. The code will look like this:          File f = new File("dirname/");
f.mkdir(); The dirname may be absolute, and may or may not end with a /.
I hope this soles your problem.

  • How can I create a new folder in Word for Mac ?

How can I create a new folder in Word for Mac?

You don't do this in Word. You do it in the OS X Finder.
All you need do in Word is open the file, then select Save As from Word's File menu. Change the destination to your new folder then click on the Save button.
The Finder method is much faster if you have a number of files you want to move. Just remember that to open those moved files in Word, you will have to change the directory from which you will open those files.

  • How can I create a new folder in an external disk that is connected via USB to my Mac?

How can I create a new folder in an external disk that is connected via USB to my Mac?

Just like you would create a new folder anywhere. Open the drive's icon from your desktop or the Finder, and click shift-command-N. (Or use the Finder menu if you prefer - File - New Folder).
If you can't create a folder, your drive may be the wrong format (you can't write to a Windows/NTFS formatted drive, for example). You'll have to back up any files you have on there, and then use Disk Utility to reformat it to Mac Extended (if it will only be used on a Mac) or MS-DOS format (if you want to share it with a PC).

Mac OSX, 10.7.5, LR 5.6  After creating a new folder in the Destination section and importing images, the new folder name appears as 2010, no matter what name I give it.  Why is it doing this?

I am experiencing Mavericks failing to copy subdirectories from usb sticks, I am backing up game saves from a console. Both sticks I use are fine, same permissions of course since the console wrote the files. Sometimes it copies, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to be related to the mounting process.
Thank God Apple hasn't (yet) broken bash.

    FORMAT TYPES
    FAT32 (File Allocation Table)
Read/Write FAT32 from both native Windows and native Mac OS X.
    Maximum file size: 4GB.
    Maximum volume size: 2TB
You can use this format if you share the drive between Mac OS X and Windows computers and have no files larger than 4GB.
    NTFS (Windows NT File System)
    Read/Write NTFS from native Windows.
Read only NTFS from native Mac OS X
To Read/Write/Format NTFS from Mac OS X, here are some alternatives:
For Mac OS X 10.4 or later (32 or 64-bit), install Paragon (approx $20) (Best Choice for Lion)
Native NTFS support can be enabled in Snow Leopard and Lion, but is not advisable, due to instability.
AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support NTFS
    Maximum file size: 16 TB
    Maximum volume size: 256TB
You can use this format if you routinely share a drive with multiple Windows systems.
HFS+ ((((MAC FORMAT)))) (Hierarchical File System, a.k.a. Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Don't use case-sensitive)
    Read/Write HFS+ from native Mac OS X
Required for Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! backups of Mac internal hard drive.
To Read HFS+ (but not Write) from Windows, Install HFSExplorer
    Maximum file size: 8EiB
    Maximum volume size: 8EiB
You can use this format if you only use the drive with Mac OS X, or use it for backups of your Mac OS X internal drive, or if you only share it with one Windows PC (with MacDrive installed on the PC)
    EXFAT (FAT64)
Supported in Mac OS X only in 10.6.5 or later.
Not all Windows versions support exFAT.
    exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table)
AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support exFAT
    Maximum file size: 16 EiB
    Maximum volume size: 64 ZiB
You can use this format if it is supported by all computers with which you intend to share the drive.  See "disadvantages" for details.

  • Pdf's freeze using Reader in server based Mac 10.6 or 10.5

I support several hundred iMac's for a school district. We have a site license for Adobe CS4 (and CS3). The user's accounts are server based. The programs are installed on the local computer. If I create a local account and log into that local account all functions normally. However, if I or anyone else for that matter logs in using the server based account, pdf's freeze. Also, when logged into the server, if you try to install a new version of Reader it errors looking for a disk. What the program is really looking for is the users' local account which of course doesn't exist locally because I am logged into the server. I've had Apple out to look at the server and local iMacs. They say all is functioning normally and this is a known Adobe problem. Apparently the program can't find the users account on the server. I have used a workaround with Preview and Word but that's not a solution. Any ideas?

Thanks for the thought, Barbara B. Not sure if this counts, but emailed the file to myself [different email account, same computer] but it would not play as an email attachment. Any suggestions for a web upload where I can test your suggestion? Seems like there should be a different save option other than IMAGES ONLY but that is the only option I'm given.

  • How to create password protected folder (with unlimited storage) on Mac?

I want to create password protected folder on my mac. I tried the method where you create a dmg file and mount it whenever you want to use the folder and unmount it when you don't. However, this method only lets me store, for example, 2 gb data. I cannot store beyong that level as an error message pops up saying... "the following files cannot be copied because there is not enough storage space in the dmg file"
How can I create a passpord protected folder which can store as much available space that is on my mac?
Is there an application that does that? Suggest me some names if someone already is using something like that.
    Thanks much!

You need to choose the size of the image when you create it. If you are getting that message, you only set the image to hold 2GB of data.
If you choose a Sparse Disk Image or a Sparse Bundle Disk Image, you can set it to any size, however, it will only be able to store up to the space available on your Hard Disk. Physically, it will only be the size of the stuff you saved into it, but It doesn't shrink automatically when you remove things.
A Sparse Bundle differs from a Sparse Image in that it writes the contents to small files so that when Time Machine sees changes, it only backs up the small file change, not the 100 GB (or whatever) of the total image size.
Notice that having created a 10 TB disk image (as shown above), there is only 80 GB available on the mounted image as that is all the space I have available on the 500 GB drive.
