Creating slices in Illustrator

I am trying to create several slices, some of which should go all the way to the edge of the artboard. For some reason, Illustrator forces me to either end the slice several pixels inside the artboard or several pixels outside the artboard. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

It sounds like you have align new objects to pixel grid option check in the flyout and at the bottom of the transform panel you can uncheck that option.
Althought you may actually want it.
Turn on the pixel preview in the view menu to see how you f eel about it.

    I can't open a new Illustrator file. It sends me this error: Can't create a new illustration. Problems occurred while saving the print file. ID:-1
    I opened a previous document created in CC, but it will not allow me to copy and paste items from one doc to another.
    I have rebooted with no avail.
    System:
    Adobe Creative Cloud CC
    Mac Book Pro 2012
    2.6 GHz Intel Core i7

    Is a printer connected? Is it turned ON? Is the driver up to date?
    Illustrator checks this every time and also writes information on the printer into the file.

  • Boxes created in Adobe Illustrator and placed in InDesign appear misaligned in PDF.

    Boxes created in Adobe Illustrator and placed in InDesign appear misaligned in PDF.

    ?Hi, Sara.
    I'm viewing in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Not sure what my client has.
    And, yes, the boxes are all transparent. I tried pasting the native AI file, and EPS file, with the same result. When viewed at 150% and above, they look perfect. But, when viewed to fit page on screen, they distort.
    They print fine, too.

  • Created file in illustrator then opened in photoshop but color code changed?

    I Created file in illustrator and then opened the art in photoshop but the wierd thing is that the color code changed. If you look at the image with you eye the color will look the same to the naked but if you use the eye dripper tool you can see that the color code has changed between illustrator and photoshop.
    Is there a way to make the CMYK color code stay the same?

    In Illustrator the "Edit---> color settings" are set to "North America General Purpose 2" and the that is the same color setting choice in Photoshop.
    For example there is a black color in Illustrator that has this CMYK code "60, 49,47, 100"
    but in photoshop the CMYK code for the same part of the graphic changes to "75, 68, 67, 90"
    This is only one example of many color code changes that are happening and this may look like the same color on the screen but I need them to both have the same code because I am doing specialized printing and need no changes in color codes like this to occur.
    If I have the color setting in both photoshop and illustrator both set exactly the same "Edit---> color settings" then do you know why this color shift would be happening. Please help.

  • What is the best way to create tables in Illustrator cs5

    Hello everyone,
    I am currently working on making a project board for a printer. It needs to have rows and colums so that a project can be tracked and assigned on a day by day basis. I figured I would just creat a table for this. Is there a good way to create tables in Illustrator cs5?

    1. Copy Excel table and paste in illustrator  and Clipping Mask ->  Release
    2. Ungroup!  Group or may not be released, so please ungroup twice.
    3. Excute javascript.
    * Document mode must be CMYK.
    * All Layer On & Unlock!
    * Excel table as shown above the line must be black in color.

  • How to Create PDF from Illustrator CS3 by using applescript?

    Hi Guys,
    Do some one knows how to create PDF from Illustrator CS3 by using apple script. If know, please give me the scripting.
    HARI

    Have you tried File>Scripts>SaveDocsAsPDF? There should be a folder of sample scripts installed in your AICS3 folder and a folder of documentation which contains an Illustrator AppleScript Reference which has examples.

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO CREATE SLICER BASED ON CREATED SET?

    HI ALL
    I was wondering is it possible to create slicer for set created based on column items?
    Data table looks like:
    TABLE 1.
                              PRODUCER1     PRODUCER2     PRODUCER3     ....
    PRODUCER50
    PRODUCT 1
    PRODUCT 2
    SALES VALUES
    PRODUCT N
    I created set based on column items and called it PRODUCERS
    What I need is to create slicer for PRODUCERS.
    The problem is powerpivot does not give a possibility to create slicer! I can use PRODUCERS in my powerpivot table, but I can not create slicer!
    I was wondering why? And is there any workaround?
    Thanks for potential replies.

    Model structure is simple and looks like below.
    Table 1. with main data.
    Table 2. was created to build a slicer for producers.
    Those tables are disconected ones.
    TABLE 1.
    PRODUCER1     PRODUCER2     PRODUCER3     ....         PRODUCER50
    PRODUCT 1
    PRODUCT 2
    SALES VALUES
    PRODUCT N
    Table2.
    PRODUCERS
    producer 1
    producer 2
    producer 50
    To remind I need to be able to slice sales data by Producers.
    What I am trying to do now is to:
        - create slicer for Table 2.
        - use this slicer to filter Table 1. ( I need a good measure to do this)
     But I am not sure this workaround is possible. The measure I wrote returns error.
    MEASURE:=IF(VALUES(Table 2[PRODUCERS])="producer 1",SUM(TABLE 1.[PRODUCER1],
                      IF(VALUES(Table 2[PRODUCERS])="producer 2",SUM(TABLE 1.[PRODUCER2],
                      IF(VALUES(Table 2[PRODUCERS])="producer 50",SUM(TABLE 1.[PRODUCER50], "")))
     I could not find any similar topic to find a solution.
    Did anyone meet similar problem?

  • How can I most easily create this in illustrator?

    I need to create a nice even illustration of this image, which is the floorplan of a college dorm. We are planning to turn it into a file that we can add names of the residents to and keep track of notes about them (things like their hometown, major, and other assorted facts). I anticipate creating a line drawing first, then maybe making it into a form in Acrobat.
    As a relatively inexperienced user of Adobe Creative Suite, what would be the best way to go about this?

    You can create the floor plan in Photoshop, then, using the Slice tool, add all the info necessary. You can add a link to the info page and even a mouse-over that will provide the information.
    The Slice tool is the fifth option down in the Tools toolbar. It creates the old mapping html data. If you need more help, contact me. I will be more than glad to walk you through the process

  • Slices On Illustrator...

    Hi from Brazil, this is my first post here!
    Well, since Illustrator CS1 i have this problem, with slices...
    Ok, i created a 72dpi file, make some rectangle buttons, ok!
    So i have tried to use all slices creation options, like Make, Create from Guides, Clip from Artboard, etc...the result is:
    Well, the Illustrator dont create only one rectangular slice, insted, a lot of, on the borders, offside the button...so, a only one rectagle slide is basically impossible in my case, I tried a lot of ways!
    There´s something wrong? What i can do to solve this? I tried everthing!
    Ps:Sorry about my poor english!
    Bye!

    It's easily explained: It is opening the data as if it were an EPS or PDF, so the fault is probably with the options you chose when you saved the files in
    CS2. Check them. also of course keep in mind that some specific features have notably changed, so it may do thius simply to retain appearance, which you can influence by setting teh respective prefs....

  • Is there a way to create tables in Illustrator?

    I've been reading up on tips to incorporate tables into Illustrator. Unlike Indesign, I don't think illustrator is as adept and equipped with all the sophisticated tools. I read that tables created in Indesign can be copied and pasted onto illustrator - is that correct?
    Suggestions welcome!
    Thanks,
    Susan

    I read that tables created in Indesign can be copied and pasted onto illustrator - is that correct?
    Yes, since ID creates them as native vector objects, this should be no problem. You should however limit yourself to only use basic formatting. At some point it was even possible to copy&paste Excel tables into Adobe programs, but that does not work any longer with newer Office versions. If you are having difficulties, also simply consider printing/ saving a PDF from your calc program and placing or opening it for refinements.

  • How do I print a pdf without the standard crop marks that appear when I have created it in Illustrator originally?

    Hi
    I am so frustrated as I cannot work out why my pdf files that I have created in Illustrator, print out on my printer with crop marks as well as scaling the image to fit them in on the paper. I just want to be able to print it out without the crop marks at the correct and original size it was designed in.
    Help Please.

    The crop marks are part of the design, no reason why Acrobat wouldn't print them. You could try cropping them out in Acrobat.

  • How to create effect in illustrator

    I am trying to create this image on illustrator, if someone can tell me how, what i tired to do was create a grid, using the rounded rectangle tool,  making them about 30 px by 30 px with about 5 px space between them,  then use the 3d rotate tool, and get something close, but on the picture  the gap seems to curve a little, and with the gird i get strait lines,  how would i get that slight curve effect, if someone can send me a link that can walk you though would be great.

    If you're careful and manipulate the Bloat tool settings properly you can create some bit of that curvature to
    the grid, if your grid is created with the level of detail as in your sketch.

  • Can't open just created file in illustrator

    Hello!
    Yesterday I created 4 logos and saved them in AI and today I can't open any of them. Illustrator says it's in know format and can't be open.
    This error happens all the time for last 2 month and not only with illustrator, but with photoshop and indesign too. I can't work like this! I can't redo everything all the time.
    I use Mac with Yosemite and CC2014.
    Can someone help me? I tried restarting, clearing preferences and installing and uninstalling all the apps. illustrator

    kirito,
    It is always recommended here to open/save from/to own hard disk, and to copy from/to networks and removable media. You may be lucky, at least for a while, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
    In addition to the (far greater) risk of file corruption, some issues are mentioned here:

  • Create guides in Illustrator CS4 JS

    Hi, I need to create 4 guides in Illustrator page 3/16 inch from each edge of the artboard using javascript.
    Could someone help me.
    Thank you very much.
    Yulia

    Joe, I think that this should be pretty close to what you want. It looks for path items in the selection, then should check to see if its a rectangle if it is then inset guides 3mm. I think it needs a check for right & left direction control points but I have NOT the time at the mo.
    #target illustrator
    var docRef = app.activeDocument;
    // Convert mm to points
    var thisOffset = 3 * 2.834645;
    with (docRef) {
    // Get selected items Array
    if (selection != '') {
    for (var i = 0; i < selection.length; i++) {
    // Check if its a path item
    if (selection[i] instanceof PathItem) {
    // This might need a better test!!!
    if (isRectangle(selection[i])) {
    // Ignore any stroke values
    var thisPath = selection[i].geometricBounds;
    // Calculate guide box
    var guideTop = thisPath[1] - thisOffset;
    var guideLeft = thisPath[0] + thisOffset;
    var guideWidth = (thisPath[2] - thisPath[0]) - (thisOffset * 2);
    var guideHeight = (thisPath[1] - thisPath[3]) - (thisOffset * 2);
    // Make new rectangle
    var myGuides = pathItems.rectangle(guideTop, guideLeft, guideWidth, guideHeight, false);
    // Make it guides
    myGuides.guides = true;
    } else {
    alert('A Path Item was NOT a rectangle?');
    } else {
    alert('An object was NOT a Path Item?');
    } else {
    alert('You have NO selected objects?');
    function isRectangle(pathObject) {
    with (pathObject) {
    if (pathPoints.length != 4)  return false;
    if (pathPoints[0].anchor[0] != pathPoints[3].anchor[0]) return false;
    if (pathPoints[1].anchor[0] != pathPoints[2].anchor[0]) return false;
    if (pathPoints[0].anchor[1] != pathPoints[1].anchor[1]) return false;
    if (pathPoints[2].anchor[1] != pathPoints[3].anchor[1]) return false;
    return true;

  • Trouble creating Logo in Illustrator

    Hi Guys, I am fairly new to Illustrator and I am not getting the results I am looking for. I have a raster image which I'e edited in photoshop. I have removed the background and I now want to create a Vector logo in Illustrator making  a sillhouette from the image extracted in photoshop. When I try to import/open the image in illustrator, it opens it but with a white background. I do not want this background as I want to use the logo on a variety of objects and media with different backgrounds. I need to create a single logo that can be reprinted on a business card as well as a 5 meter by 2 meter sign, this is why I decided to do the work in Ai. I have designed it in PS but now need to create the Vector and I cannot seem to get an invisible/transparent background.
    Thanks,
    Owen

    One more thing: if it makes it easier for you, go to View > Show Transparency Grid.
