Can someone explain the following regarding Structures usage in Query Designer
    1. Limitations of Structures usage
    2. When to use Structures and when not to use them in Query Designer
    Thanks in Advance

    AVS Reddy

    Hi,
Structures in Query designer are reusable across all the queries for particular info provider once you save in the query designer.
Also check the below links for more info:

  • Creating RKF in Query Designer using Nav Attr of a Nav Char InfoObject

    Hi
    SCENARIO
I have a Char InfoObject POSTFI[POSTFI is Navigational Attr] with 3 Navigational Attributes included in the InfoCubes.
    1. ZINREPIND Reporting Indicator
    2. ZFITMCD01 Statement 01 Financial Item
    3. ZPCNR1 Profit Center Indicator
NOTE: All the above mentioned Nav Attr are properly set as Nav Attr and Active, Check and Rechecked.
We have 2-InfoCubes Current and Historical[both have same Structure].
A MultiProvider is build using the above 2-InfoCubes and the Char InfoObject PostFi is included in the MultiProvider.
Now I am trying to Create a Report using Query Designer and in that I have to Create a RKF[GrossSales1] and
    the Condition for which is KeyFigure=FINAMT, where POSTFI_ZFITMCD01 = 5010, POSTFI_ZPCNR1= Y
    PROBLEM
I can see the Nav Attr ZINREPIND, ZFITMCD01, ZPCNR1 in the main Screen of the Query Designer's LeftHandSide Pane containing KeyFigures and Dimenions under Dimension Financial=> PostFi=> Nav Attr ZINREPIND, ZFITMCD01, ZPCNR1.
While creating the RKF on KeyFigure FINAMT I am just able to see the InfoObject POSTFI[in its resp Dimension] in the
Display RKF GrossSales1 Screen in the Left Hand Side Pane where we see the KeyFigures and Dimensions.
But I am NOT able to see the Nav Attr's ZINREPIND, ZFITMCD01, ZPCNR1 anywhere in the LHS Pane of the Display RKF GrossSales1 Screen.
Now I cant Create the RKF bcoz I cant see the 3NavAttr's of Char InfoObject PostFi it the LHS Pane and the 2-Nav Attr required for creating the RKF.
Can anyone PLEASE let me know How can I see/bring these Nav Attr ZINREPIND, ZFITMCD01, ZPCNR1 in the LHS Pane of the RKF Creation Screen to add them to make my RKF ?
    Thanx in Advance

    Hi
As per your explanation, below are the details
POSTFIPOSTFI --- This is navigational attribute which has below 3 objects as navigation attrs.
    1. ZINREPIND Reporting Indicator
    2. ZFITMCD01 Statement 01 Financial Item
    3. ZPCNR1 Profit Center Indicator
first one, could you please confirm whether POSTFIPOSTFI is main info object or it is attribute of another info object.
If it is attribute of another info object, then the last attibutes(3) are called Transitive attribute(attributes attribute).
Reporting on Transitive attributes is only possible with the creation Info Sets.
If my guess is correct, then create Info Set based two info cube now create the query.
    Hope it will work

  • Creating transport in Query designer

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to create a transport in query designer before i make any changes to the query, how do i go about doing this please?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can also goto SE01/SE09/SE10 tcodes and create a workbench transport from there. Modify you r query and attach it to the transport you created. But the best practice is to create it through the transport connection.
Also check the threads below on creating Query transports :

  • How to Add a Variable created in New Query Designer

    Friends
i am able to create variable on a char and i am unable to attach it to it.
Any specific options that i need to set it so that i get the selection screen.
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hello Vijay,
From where are are trying to use the variable and what type of variable you created?
    For characteristic variables,
In BW 3.x front-end, you can right click on the characteristic name and select "restrict". This will pop-up a window. Choose variables tab and select the variable from there.
In NW 2004s front-end, you can do this only from Filter tab page in query designer
not from Rows/columns and free characteristics.
You can do the same procedure in "Global Filter" or "Default values" area and attach the variable.

  • Technical name for formula in query designer

    Hi,
We have created some formulas in Query Designer.
We tried to assign the technical names to these existing formulas, it goes away as the save button on the top of the pop up is disabled.
Is there a way to assign technical names of the formulas created in the query designer.
    Regards,
    Charu

    Charu Pandey,
Formulas are local, means available for particular queries only. No technical name.
Create Calculated keyfigures instead of formulas..., so you can save with technical names.
To display technical name in query, give discription same as technical name.
    Hope it Helps

  • Query design layout setting

    Dear All,

    Hi,
you mean, when you execute the query in the web browser? this is the setting of the standard webtemplate.
Create your own webtemplate with the web application designer. There you can change this option.

  • Views in query designer

    Hi,
    can you please tell .
In the tcode:RSRT1 we have View What does it mean?
Can we create views in query designer?
Can we use the dictionary views in query designer?
    Can you please tell about?
    Regards
    Naresh

    Hi Naresh.
RSRT1 is used to view the output of queries as well as views.
This is the reason why you see the option to input view.
the difference between RSRT and RSRT1 is as follows
rsrt allows only queries to be executed and provides output in List as well as HTML format
rsrt1 allows you to execute views as well as queries and in HTML format.
    hope this helps,

  • Structure copy in BEx query Designer?

I created structure in BEx Query Designer in BI PRD which is our BI production system.
I'd like to copy structure to BI DEV which is our BI development system.
    Is is possible?
If you have any solution, tell me about that.
    Thanks.

    Hi
If you want the object which is there in PRD to DEV system means, the only way is to do transportation. but to do reverse transportation, you should have STMS connection from your PRD to DEV system.
The better way is to create the structure again in DEV system.
If you want to go with reverse transportation, consult your basis person.

  • How can i reuse a structure in the query designer in 3.5

    Hi all,
we are using the version BW 3.5,  now how can i reuse a structure made int he query designer, because i need it in another query, i did the structure and put it a technical name and save, help guys

    HI Richard,
Create a Structure in Rows/columns and save As it, then in the left Panel of the Query Designer you can see three Folders
    1) Structures
    2) Keyfigures
    3) Dimensions
then Expand the structures Folder, there you can find your saved structure, Structures are 2 types
    1) With Key figures
    2) Without Key Figures
If you have the key figures in your saved structure, then you can find it in the subfolder of with Keyfigures, else in the other folder.
Now you can use this structure by draging in all the queries which are on the same InfoProvider (CUbe. MultiProvider)

  • In query designer, an hierarchy(structure)  duplicating lines in level 2.

Here we are at version 7.0 - SP 10, I have created a structure hierarchy in BEX, and when I execute this query the result is ok ... until I tried to closed or open the second level.
At first, it doesn't close, and the worst if I tried to open  it's
duplicating the lines of the second level.
In query designer, creating an hierarchy(structure) something like this:
    > total division 1
    ...> division 1.1
    ...> division 1.2
    > total division 2
    ...> division 2.1
    ...> division 2.2
and after the execution, if I tried to close or open the level of division 2 the result will duplicates the lines division 2.1 and division  2.2. the result is like this:
    > total division 1
    ...> division 1.1
    ...> division 1.2
    > total division 2
    ...> division 2.1
    ...> division 2.2
    <b>...> division 2.1
    ...> division 2.2</b>
The stange is in excel it works normaly.
    Best regards,

    Hi,
An Heirarchy is always an addition of the below nodes. hence. WBS 1 = WBS 1.1 + WBS 1.2. since youre looking at durations. it will add up 7+9 instead of looking at earliest start and latest end dates.
dont know if itll work but a suggestion would be to get the start date and end date for WBS 1 and then do the calculation for duration in a formula in query designer.
    regards,

  • Creating customer formula to be used in the Query Designer

    hi,
How can i code a specific formula to be used in the query designer. As an example, i need to calculate dynamically working days between two dates.
i tried to find the corresponding BAdl interface with no success..
Do you have any suggestion ?

    Hi..
I have a scenario ...  it may help..
The group HR administrator wants a detailed line item report that lists all employee absences in a given period. The report is to show the employee number, the absence start date, together with the end date of the absence and show the number of calendar days the employee was absent.
The good thing about using this technique is that no redesign work is needed from your technical BW team, no ABAP is involved and best of all, it quick and easy.
    Solution:
For this example I created an ODS object called Absence that holds basic employee information along with individual absence record data.
    Follow the steps below:
Open the BEx Query Designer and create a new report on your chosen InfoProvider.
Drag the Employee, Valid from and Valid to characteristics into the Rows section of the screen.
If needed, apply data selection restrictions to the characteristics as pop up
Right click on the Key Figures structure and select New Formula
In the new formula window right click on Formula Variable and choose New Variable
The Variables Wizard will launch and will require you to specify the variable details.
( Click the NEXT button if the Introduction screen appears )
Enter the variable details on the General Information as shown in  pop up
Enter the Variable Name , Description and select Replacement Path in the Processing by field.
    Click the Next Button.
In the Characteristic screen (pop up) select the date characteristic that represents the first date to use in the calculation (From Date).
    Click the Next Button.
The Save Variable screen (pop up) displays a summary of the new variable.
Click on the Finish button to save the variable.
Repeat steps first four  for to create a second variable for the second date to be used in the calculation.
In the example shown, the characteristic 0DATETO is used to create the variable ABSEND (Absence End Date)
    Define the Calculation............
The new calculated key figure will now show in the columns section of the BEx query designer
    excute...
    with regards,
    hari
