Creating text in various languages

I have a project where I have to sub-title a film in 7 different languages, including chinese and korean. Will I be able to use Livetype to construct the sub-titles in all the languages- in other words, will I or a suitably qualified person be able too type in the necessary characters by using just Livetype?

LiveType would be a complete disaster for subtitling. Use an appropriate application. Better, hire a qualified subtitling service to place the subs on your tape in a post operation. Give them the script and the tapes and be happy to write them a check.
solid advice: Do not get involved in the subtitling side of this production unless you are totally into it. You cannot believe how difficult it is going to be unless you really know what you're doing. You cannot possibly bill your client for the time you will waste trying to do this yourself but you can bill them for a subcontractor.

When I tried using view V_T582S, by default it is giving entries in only logon language.
Is there any other way to convert the text of custom infotypes to some other languages.

How to create the request for change of selection text into other language.

Hi,
In my object requirement is that when login through Japanese language, then on selection screen selection text should appear in Japanese language. For that I have maintained the text in Japanese language the program where we define the selection text there from translation I have maintained the text in Japanese but while maintain the text it didn't ask me for REQUEST, because of that I am not able to transport the changes to next system, so I want know how to create the request for this case.

Hello Chetan,
You could goto the selection screen texts by goto-> selection texts,
Then you could again goto -> Translation
or
Other-> Translation(Not sure )
Then double click on the Program you should be able to see the Texts that need translation, now change something save and come back and try to activate, now it should propose for a new Transport Request.
Either create a new transaport request or give one that you have given for the program.
Hope the issue is resolved.

Control Hints, various languages????? 9.0.3

how can i set the control hints for an attribute for various languages. in jdev 9.0.2 it was very easy but in jdev 9.0.3 pre??????

Here's what I tried.
Created a default JClient app over BC4J (Dept/Emp tables).
Added control hints for Dept Entity attribute DName.
Created a new class DeptImplMsgBundle_en_GB that extends DeptImplMsgBundle and lives in the same package (mypackage1.common)
In the generated JClient example, I modified the "main()" method to perform Locale.setLocale(Locale.UK) in the first line in the main.
And then when the JClient app is run it does pickup proper locale text for the control hints (from the UK msg bundle).
Also I tried app.setLocale(Locale.UK) instead of Locale.setLocale() - where app is the JUApplication object returned from createApplicationObject method call in the main () and that worked too - The label/tooltip for Dname did show properly.
To get data/connection setup in proper locale you may want to set the jbo.default.country and jbo.default.language properties in the application module configuration.

Questions on the forms output
1) What is best way of achieving the output of a form in various languages? Both for SAPSCRIPTS and SMARTFORMS?
2) If I develop a form(SAPSCRIPTS or SMARTFORMS) in English, what kind of efforts are required to get the output in German or Swedish?

Hi Sapna,
While creating a new form u must hv seen an input box of language below the form name input.
Just select ur relevant language type by using F4. For eg: Swedish:SV & German:DE.
Get ur relevant text for the corresponding language & create the form as normal.

Print PO item text in different language

Hi,
We have a global vendor whose communication language is maintained as PL in vendor master while our logon language is EN. The text therefore is maintained in PL language. It seems the output program only picks the text in logon language (EN) and so the PL text is ignored. Current the solution we can find is either ask user to logon with PL language when he needs to print the PO, or manually input EN as communication language when creating a PO. But I hope to find a better solution. I tried changing the the message output to be PL but doesn't help. Any idea?

Thanks DEV, to clarify, for this particular PO with PL vendor, only item text in PL language is maintained. It doesn't seem like SD, we can manually choose language and maintain texts in different language (I think I saw some notes saying this - one PO one language of text only).
Also both from other threads I saw and my test proves via maintaining communication condition record with other language doesn't work.
However from you second thread, I am curious about this saying :
If you want to print the PO in different language.
Then in Message determination IMG settings or NACE.
You can modify the output type NEU
here change the language from EN to your relevant language as per SAP.
If you want the both EN other language then copy the std NEU & create as per your requirement & mention the language in that new out put type.

Maintain Text in Different Language

Hi PS Expert,
I have query for maintaining text in multiple language, let me elaborate my query..
I created std project having all WBS element & maintain WBS Text ( description) in English lanuage.Now my client prefers that if a person in other country log into SAP in German language then he should see all description in German language.
I have one solution that log into SAP in German Language & maintain all text again in German language. This will be just repeatition of the work what I did in English language.Client wants to maintain all text in 6 language & I have to repeat the same work 6 times.
If you have come across such issue , please tell me about your solution.

Activate business function OPS_PS_CL1
Multi language support has to be activated fro the Object ML(IMG-->Project system-->activate multi language support)
when you create a new PS object , a new tab short text appears, in which you can maintain different language keys and description
so when ever user logs in different language then the description of PS object will appear in that language if it is maintained in short text tab

Urgent: want function module to translate text into russian language

Hello All,
My requirement is that, field is fetched from std. table. This fiels of data type string, i.e., it contains text. I want to translate this text into russian language before displaying this in output. For otr text, i used se63 to translate. But, this text is not otr, it is dynamically fetched from diff. std. tables. So, se63 is not working here.
Please help me as its very urgent.

I don't know if there's an unique solution, you should try to open an OSS message
All tables with description should have the language (usually field SPRAS) as key fields
so u can try to read a record and create a new one but with the new language:
select * from makt where spras = 'ZH'.
   makt-spras = 'E'.
   makt-maktx = ......
   insert makt.
endselect.
But it's better to analize the risk

To Display in Different Languages:
Smartforms:
In the Smartform you create:
In General Attributes, in Translate, select the radiobutton 'Into Selected Languages' and specify the lang for which you want the translation to be available.
To translate:
Go to SE63.
In menu, Translation -> ABAP Objects -> Other Long Texts.
In the Object Type Selection window that appears, expand FS ( Forms and Styles) and choose SSF (SAP SmartForms)
Specify your form name in Object Name and select the source and target lang and click on Edit button.
In the editor screen specify translated text in the lower half.
After you are done, click on Save Active button.
To view your form in the translated language, specify that language when you login.
SAPscripts:
Goto SE76.
Specify the script name, source and target language. Click on Create/Change button.
Specify all the translations. Click on release.
It will prompt you to translate window contents.
Double click on the window and translate the contents. When you are done, the Translation Status will become COMPLETED. Click on Release again.
(You can edit and check too)
Now when you preview by choosing the desired language, the translated script is displayed.

I done Text comfiguration in VOTXN, text is getting determined in Sales order from customer master
Text i maintained in Language EN
Customer master - Sales area -- Extras -- create Text -- Language EN and
and when i create text Chinise
Customer master - Sales area -- Extras -- create Text -- Language ZH(SAP chinise Language) Text is not comming. and Chinise languge is installed at Os level and server level
any thing is missing pls advice me

Not sure of FM. But programically u can do.
Check the statement
INSERT TEXTPOOL PROGRAM FROM TAB LANGUAGE
SY-LANGU.
This creates the text elements in the specifies program and in specified language.
Not only text elements but also list headings u can create.
Check below sample code given by SAP.
DATA: PROGRAM(8) VALUE 'PROGRAM',
      TAB LIKE TEXTPOOL OCCURS 50 WITH HEADER LINE.
TAB-ID = 'T'. TAB-KEY = SPACE. TAB-ENTRY = 'Sales'.
APPEND TAB.
TAB-ID = 'I'. TAB-KEY = '200'. TAB-ENTRY = 'Tax'.
APPEND TAB.
TAB-ID = 'H'. TAB-KEY = '001'. TAB-ENTRY = 'Name   Age'.
APPEND TAB.
TAB-ID = 'S'. TAB-KEY = 'CUST'. TAB-ENTRY = 'Customer'.
APPEND TAB.
TAB-ID = 'R'. TAB-KEY = SPACE. TAB-ENTRY = 'Test program'.
APPEND TAB.
SORT TAB BY ID KEY.
INSERT TEXTPOOL PROGRAM FROM TAB LANGUAGE SY-LANGU.
eg:TAB-ID = 'I'.                 For Text elements

But use it only for new developments. Bucause it may overwrite the existing texts.

Hi,
In the smartforms initial screen you can find Test module radio button.
Provide the name and create the text there.
In the following screen you find Management tab, where bydefault translate to all language radio button is selected.

Maintain text in different languages

Hi,
We have a multi country and multi language scenario.
Every time that we have to create something..like master data or any customizing object..in different languages..we have to log in to the system multiple no. of times to maintan text in different languages. Is there any way that in one login only we maintain different texts.
If we go to customizing, maintain functional area...go to utilities...> choose language.. what is its function?

This helps you maintain the text in different languages in configuration nodes by logging on in English for example you have to implement for China/France/Spain/Germany you can select the languages and you can maintain all the languages at the same time without having to logon in different languages. Not all the configuration nodes support this functionality for example FTXP the tax code maintainence.

Hi Raj,
Table A is a text table of table B if the key of A comprises the key of B and an additional language key field (field of data type LANG). Table A may therefore contain explanatory text in several languages for each key entry of B.
To link the key entries with the text, text table A must be linked with table B using a foreign key. Key fields of a text table must be selected here for the type of foreign key fields
If table B is the check table of a field, the existing key entries of table B are displayed as possible input values when the input help (F4) is pressed. The explanatory text (contents of the first character-like non-key-field of text table A) is also displayed in the user's logon language for each key value in table B.
Only one text table can be created for table B! The system checks this when you attempt to activate a table with text foreign keys for B.
