Creating the last page in e-pubs with footnotes is this twisted maneuver?

CC. Exporting e-book 2.01. Footnotes at the end of the section.
Inserted at the end of the book a new page with some info but this one was placed before the list of footnotes, not at the end.
It shows that the e-pub considers the footnotes the last part of the book.
In this case I inserted the required text as part of the last footnote separated with a hard return.
Now the e-pub engine thinks that this text is indeed the last footnote and places it at the end.
This procedure is very demanding.
I think is a better method to do it.

Ooja, well, not at all. I have a text, not a footnote, that should appear at the end of the epub.
The export option to put [all] footnotes at the end of the document involves that ID will define the last page as that with the last footnote?
Observing this I had to insert my additional text below the last footnote.
Think this is a little strange...
My doubt is: it this the only procedure to insert a plain text at the end of the e-pub?
Or may you suggest something less trespassing that inserting text inside a footnote?

Hello, I have been building a script over the last week to help me remove formatting and reapply some of that formatting on a large number of files. I am still learning alot about how to build scripts and what the commmands are but I am almost doen with everything I need to put in it. One of the last things that I want to add is to delete the last page from the Indesign file whether it has content or not. Is this possible? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Something like this:

First check if document contains more than one page, and if does, remove last page.

I have Firefox configured so that it should go to my homepage when started, but it takes me to the last page I was at when closed. This started with the crappy new version. Help!

Despite setting a Home Page Firefox always opens in the last page viewed. How do I solve this?

I have followed the instructions for setting a Home Page. Firefox always opens in the last page I viewed. Clicking on the Home icon does take me to my Home Page once Firefox has opened.

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

Your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there.
you can check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

Suppress a field in the page footer unless it's the last page of the group

Hi,
I have a report set up where one can pull invoice information. There is a page footer used for every page which contains a field that I only want visible when it is the last page of the group.
For example, one might pull several invoices, each invoice being its own group. A field would be suppressed in the footer unless it is the last page of that particular invoice.
Is this something that can be done in Crystal Reports XI?

Alright, it's a bit rusty but here's how you can do it:
1) Create this formula and place it in the Report Header:

2) Create this formula and place it in the Group Footer:

3) Create this formula and place it on the Page Footer:
whileprintingrecords;
numbervar n;
4) Right-click the above formula (Formula on the Page Footer) and select Format Field > Common tab > click the formula button beside 'Suppress' and use this formula:
numbervar n1;
numbervar x;
if currentfieldvalue <> n1 then
x := 1;
true;
else
x := 0;
true;
5) Right-click the field that you wish to always suppress except on the last page and select Format Field > Common tab > click the formula button beside 'Suppress' and use this formula:
numbervar x;

Retrieve and store the last page num. of a report created with the XML Publ

The customer has the need to store the last page number of a report created using XML Publisher technology.
This page number is to be recovered for reuse as a starting page number next to the launch of the report itself.
The last page number would be stored in a custom table. The value passed through the procedure defined in AfterReport pkg.
At the next launch of the report to retrieve the value of the last page of the previous launch BeforReport the procedure.
Can you not retrieve the value when the report is processed?
Now the customer has created a parameter in the report indicating the first page number to be included in the report itself.
The customer has to remember when launching the report on the last page number of the previous launch.
With Report Builder you can do it. But the new reports are made with R12 XML Publisher technology.
Is there anyone who can give us a solution?

If you are new to BI Publisher then what I am going to suggest next may have not much sense.
But, anyways I am sharing this idea with the rest of the community for their benefit.
It is not impossible but requires some work. You will have to have total control of the document generation and process each step individually:
- Process before report generation
- Generate PDF
- Count PDF pages
- Process information of PDF pages
In order for you to do this you will have to use BI Publisher APIs.
xdocore.jar + Versioninfo.jar contain all you need. I just tested it myself.

Hi ,
You dont have to hard code anything to achieve this functionality,
just create a window and in that window define a text element to print
that variable.In the conditions tab of that window check the check box
"only after end of main window".i think you might have used a main window,
so irrespective of the no of pages the smartform prints,it always displays that
field in the last page of the smartform.

Is there a way in order not to print the text twice in the last page?.

Whatever the problem, it's likely due to how those paragraphs
were formatted in Word. The RH conversion usually only reflects
what was done there.
Are you comfortable inspecting the underlying HTML code (the
RH TrueCode tab)? I think you'd find some type of SPAN tag or STYLE
attribute that is determining an absolute paragraph width.
Otherwise, you could try this experiment:
1. Strip the base Word doc to a moderate size, but which
includes at least one of these non-wrapping paragraphs.
2. Select All and press Ctrl+spacebar (this removes all
formatting from the selected text).
3. Import that Word doc to RH and see how it looks now.

Photo Page with lots of pix - any way to jump to the last page?

I have a photo album with 112 pix in it, and it's set to display 21 photos per page w/ 3 columns. This makes for a total of 6 pages.
The way the page navigation shows up, at least in Safari, is as follows:

Oddly, in iWeb it shows:
< 1 2 3 4 5>
I continually am adding photos to this album, but I think that people may not realize that there are more than 4 pages. The only clue is that the right arrow is not grayed out, which is too subtle.
If you click on the "4", and then click the right arrow, it now displays 1-5 like in iWeb. Clicking on it one more time then displays 2-6.
If all of the pages can't be displayed for space reasons, some indication of how many pages total would be helpful, and/or a "last" link to jump to the last page.
On this discussions site, for example, doing a search with multiple pages of results brings up the following:
Pages: 12 *| 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 | Next |*
This makes it obvious how much content there is, and how far you have to go to get to the end. Is there any way to get something similar on an iWeb page? I think people are missing my latest additions because they don't know they're there, and there's no easy way to get to the newest stuff.

I couldn't get the other "jump to the last page" script to work at all; it winds up screwing up the display to where it shows two pages at a time slightly offset from one another.
It's more likely that you web host servers take time to serve the page and its element, I ran into similar problem while helping out another person in this forum.
But, while I'm finally seeing the page count directly above the page navigation numbers, it's indicating that there are 7 pages when in fact there are 8, and I'm wondering why it disappears after changing to any other page (it doesn't reappear even on the first page without doing a refresh). I've tried this with the same results in Safari 3.1.2 & Firefox 3.01.
My bad, all these computing have concept of zero , I messed up with that
I also found that the bottom paginate navigation cause problem, so I added more code to handle that.
The result may not be desired but cause the page count flashed when you go from one page to the next, quite annoying. Give this a try:

Why does safari 5.1 open with the last page from previous session?

I don't want Safari 5.1 to open with the last page from the previous session. How do I stop it?

I too would like to manually or automatically open the windows and tabs I had open from the previous session, but I want to configure this per application. In a browser for instance, I can have many windows and tabs open and it can take a lot of time to refresh them all. I would like to manually pick the windows/tabs I want to reopen. Before Lion I could restore the last session manually and I liked that ability. Firefox has a plugin for this And what if I reboot with no internet access, they all time out. With a word processor, spreadsheet, or xcode on the other hand, I like to start where I left off. Everything comes from local disk so the restart is fast. I want to control this by app, not globally. Sometime Apple can really be blind to the real needs of users, and that is to configure their envoronment the way the user needs, not the way Apple envisions the need of users.
So Apple, please give ME the opportunity to choose the apps that auto reload the last sesion and give me a manual way to reload the last session on all apps that qualify.

Suddenly Firefox starts with the last page viewed.

I'm running Firefox 24.0 on Windows 7. Suddenly when I start Firefox I wind up on the last page viewed, tabs and all. I went to Options, set it to blank. Went to about:config and made the change there. No luck.
I'm not certain, but I think this started with this week's Microsoft download.

Why not put the page number in the margin like this:

Page 2 of 3
Page 3 of 3
You do that by creating a text field in the margin. Enter this text:
Page &<PhysicalPageNumber> of &<TotalPhysicalPages>

Add a field to the last page of a document file only

I currently have a script which will add signature and text fields to the first page of a document.
The script is required to specify the "last page" of the document and not the page number, as each file will vary with the number of pages.
The script is in run in batch processing on multiple files which are not open (usually 50 at a time).
If anyone can please advise how to modify the script I will be most grateful.

How to decide the last page in smartforms

Hi experts,
I want to display a signature block only in the last page, can anybody tells me the perfect way to decide when it's the last page?
Now I'm using a window with the check EVENT "Only Before End of Main Window", a flag is set in this window, and then use another window for signature block with the condition of flag is on.
This method is not working perfectly, sometimes it works fine, sometimes not.
Please let me know how will you do this, thank you

Try this logic!!!!
I hope you have used table in main window to display items. Just after the table in your main window, create a program line and set a variable(let say "x').
Cretae a separate window to display the signature. In the signature window use a text element to display the required value. Go to conditions tab of text element and set the condition (i.e. check your variable value which you have assignes before) and accordingly your text will get printed.

Want to hide a field in the last page of report

The issue is that let us say i have a report for 5 pages. I have placed a field on the margin of a report to display CONTINUE.. . Now we dont want this field to be displayed when the report is on the last page. We tried of setting property of the field Print on to All but last page but it is not accepting that
can anybody provide a solution for that ..?

The problem you're hitting is that the margin area is formatted before the body area in the report. Since this is the case, you don't know if you are on the last page since the body has yet to be printed when you print your "continue" column.
There are a several ways to accomplish what you want:
- Guess whether it is the last page and print based on your "guess"
Normally you'd use a running count along with a total count to see if you've printed the last instance of the repeating frame and are hence on the last page. Since your object is in the margin rather than the body, you'd need to estimate how many records will fit on the page and if there are less then these many records left then you shouldn't print the "continue" field.
This can be tricky to do if your frame is variable sized so you don't really know how many instances of the repeating frame will be on each page.
- Place the "continue" field in the body rather than the margin
To do this, you need to create a fixed sized frame that all your normal layout goes into. This should be sized to your typical page size. Then create the "continue" field after the fixed sized frame (you may need to re-size the body area - do this in "margin" mode). Set the print condition to "all pages" against the "continue" field so that it prints on every page. You can then use the running count/total count method to determine if the last repeating frame has been printed when you come to print your "continue" field.
