Creating the mirror image...

I used to have a workflow for taking any image, and making the top half appear as if it's a mirror image in a lake on the bottom.
I started (if memory serves correct), by finding the point where the water hits the original and I would create a layer and fill it with blue.
I then copied, rotated the top onto it's own layer so it was a mirror view.
I then gaussean blurred (if I remember correctly) and did something to have this effect very realistic and I just can't find my notes on this.
Does anyone have a suggested workflow or tutorial?

Unless you also have Photoshop, skip down to the second section of this tutorial.
Don't let not being able to do the channel bit deter you. You can take an image of water...or a water texture you've made...and save it in PSD format to use to displace the water surface. It's also helpful to blur the texture a bit before using it with the displacement filter.

Is there some way to create a mirror image backup of iPhone and iPad ? At this time our company has over 250 devices that are constantly being upgraded and passed down the line. it would speed things up considerably if there was a way to mirror the old device and then restore it on the new Phone or iPad. I don't care about any of the other features in iTunes, i just need something to speed up the process without having to walk them thru reintering their passwords, redownloadeing all the apps that didn't transfer ect.

You would need to tell each user to make sure they backup their devices either thru itunes or icloud.
With a company like yours, you should suggest backing up to icloud.
IOS backup http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 then when the user gets a new phone, you or they can just restore from their icloud.
The only hard part would be if the user has music (non purchased from itunes) which they would need to sync to itunes to get back on their phone.
there is no easy process for this. I'm in the same boat as you but way fewer people to deal with.

This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

How to print the mirror image of a pdf file?

Does anyone know if it is possible to print the mirror image of a pdf file? I could have sworn I have done this before in an older version of Acrobat.

I just tested this and it worked fine for me.
When you select to print the cropped page, in the print dialog will be a thumbnail of what is about to be printed. Does this display just the cropped portion or the whole page?

What software besides iGlasses can reverse the mirror image in iChat?

I'm trying to use iChat to stream video of multiple animators and artists around the country looking at each others drawings, instructions, & messages and settings on their computer screens. The iSight cam's mirrored image produces everything backwards - eCamm.com's software, iGlasses, thankfully, reverses the mirror image making it possible for our artists to read each other's instructions. Unfortunately, the iSight cam's quality is not good enough to read the small type on their computer screens. We can use more expensive video camera's with firewire connections, but iGlasses isn't compatible. Is there any other software we can use besides iChat so we can read each others screens and data using more expensive cams and not having to read everything backwards? Probably a unique need but any help much appreciated.

We're also trying Apple Remote Access and other VNC software to acccess the various computer screens, as hosts and clients, but so far haven't succeeded. • • Also, we need to see video streams of the artists drawing on paper while they're drawing. The sparse image article you sent a link to needs a little updating (or there's some variability in prompts (no password was required) with my OS and/or Disk Utility version), but it worked.
Phew! It would have been much more time consuming to use Time Machine to recover all my photos after repartitioning the drive.

How do you create a mirror image of a photo?

Am I just completely missing something or can this not be done unless you make a card or something?? I can see how to rotate and adjust how the picture looks but can't suss out how to simply create a flipped or mirror image of a photo...

How do I remove the "mirror" image on the front camera?

After I take photos on the front camera to say a "selfie" the image is then flipped and saved. I research online and people say it's what the camera sees (like looking into a mirror) and that's how we really look in real life but I can prove this to not be true!! Here is why, I have a beauty mark on my face on the left side and when I take a selfie my iPhone saves it to show it on the right!! And when I look into an actual mirror it's obviously on left where it should be not on the right!! IS THERE a way to remove this on the new iPhone?!? All apple product seem to do this!! iPhone, iPads even my Mac! But this not true on regular cameras. HELPPP this issue is making me not get another iPhone for I travel for a living and take tons of pics.

I noticed that all of the selfies I had taken with Instagram were reversed. This was odd to realize; I have had the phone for a month, and when I see a reversed selfie it looks normal to me ... I part my hair on the left, and I didn't notice that all of my avatars for things had my hair parted on the wrong side. I was reviewing some Facebook photos and it was very obvious that some of my pics have my hair parted on the wrong side. It was kind of weird figuring out that the ones that looked right were the wrong ones...
So I played around a bit. With the built in camera app, when I am framing a selfie, it sure would be awkward to try to center yourself in the picture if the image wasn't reversed. I've had devices with front-facing cameras where you could un-reverse the image, and it is quite disorienting to try to center yourself. So I get WHY the image is reversed (one of the reasons at least). I noticed too that when I snap the selfie with the built-in camera app, that the picture un-mirrors as it takes. There is a brief animation as the image flips side-to-side.
For me and my phone/situation, it is when I use Instagram to take pictures from the front-facing camera. Instagram just seems to grab the actual image from the screen, and not do the un-mirroring that the built in photo app uses. So, my solution is to not use the Instagram app to snap the actual selfie, but to use the built in phone app to take it, then afterwards I open the photo in instagram and do my tweaking. Just slightly less than elegant for now, I am hoping that a future Instagram update will give you control on whether to un-mirror the front-facing camera. But I see this as my phone working correctly, and the app itself being the thing that is buggy. In my case.

doesn't this expose the working of the class to the outside, on the other hand I don't know howto create the correct sub image based on an image loaded.
I use subImages to allow selection within the image, like the 3th 'tile' within an imageStrip returns just that cropped image.
Before I had List<Image> and List<List<Image>> and now I can just return Images in 1 method instead of 2,3 by using lists.

if you see this in a class method would you change it/find a better way.

How can I turn off the mirroring image function at facetime

Hi there, I found that the FaceTime is showing a mirrored image and there is no option to turn off in there. Is there any way that I can turn off this function.
FYI, I have to connect a new webcam as a front camera on my Macbook Air and show the whiteboard writing via FaceTime but this combination shows a inverted writing..

I have a twoColElsLtHdr page that suits a number of languages
but I now need to create a twoColElsRtHdr version to accommodate
the Arabic and Farsi languages which read from right to left. Do I
