Creating themes for idvd 6

Can some tell me how to create a custom theme for idvd. what I mean is, I want to create my own Menu screen without the use of the themes that are provided, kind of make my own. does anyone know if its possible and how you can do it? I have found themes you can buy on line so I know there has to be away to do it. Thanks in advance.

so is there any other programs out there that does the same thing as idvd but on a more advance level?
Yes. It's called Apple's Final Cut Sudio 2 / DVDSP .... might be easier to make your own custom themes within DVDSP, although there is a larger learning curve involved with this particular app (it also helps to have a working knowledge of Motion(included in Final Cut Studio 2) for creating motion graphics menus as well as Adobe PS). Or you can simply select from the many themes templates provided as a starting point w/in DVDSP.
You can do many of the same things within iDVD (to some extent) however button and text objects (and their associated links) are not as stable nor predictable as they are in apple's pro apps / DVDSP.... which IMO is one of the main reasons for having a DVD entry menu/s in the first place.

  • THEMES FOR IDVD

How can I get themes for IDVD? Thanks

The Snow Leopard install disk did not include any of the iLife applications.  Did you purchase an iLife disk separately.  The iLIfe 11 disk only includes the iDVD 6 and 7 themes.  The iLIfe 09 disk includes themes from all versions of iDVD, 1 thru 7.
Check in your HD/Library/Application Support folder for an iDVD folder.  If it's there look inside to see if it contains theme folders and which versions are included.
The iDVD folder may be in your Home/Library/Application Support folder so you can also look there.
If you find the iDVD/Themes folder go to iDVD's Advanced preferece pane and point iDVD to the Themes folder:

  • Creating themes for nokia x6

i want to create a theme for my nokia x6. can you suggest me some tools?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The official theme creator is available on nokia's developer forum. It takes a lot of time and effort to get to grips with it.
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/Tools_Docs_and_Code/Tools/IDEs/Carbide.ui/
If you need help with it ask on the developers forum, not here. You may also find tutorials by searching google.
You may be able to find simplified theme creators at www.zedge.net or www.ownskin.com but they don't give you full control.

  • Question to java Swing Team.create Theme for WindowsLookAndFeel

    hi
i have a java swing application , and its look and feel is WindowsLookAndFeel(i am currently using xp), i need to set the theme for WindowsLookAndFeel. as i have seen there is no API to set the theme in WindowsLookAndFeel but there is for MetalLookAndFeel,
Is there any way to do it.

Well, the problem is that you can't expect a Java application to reconfigure the operating system (to set its theme), and Java has no easy way of finding out what themes are on a Windows system or retrieving Windows theme information.
Now, you can attempt to mess with the AWT properties controlling the way in which the WindowsLookAndFeel is drawn, and those are set at invocation from the OS (and updated whenever the Windows theme, at least, changes). Try looking at Toolkit.get/setDesktopProperty().

  • Creating Navigation for iDVD

I have 7 individual movies I have imported into iDVD and want to select the first one and play to the end.  How can I have iDVD to go from the first to the second and all the way through?   I also want a menu that is Scene Selection as a sub menu to allow you to select say like movie number 3 and play just that movie and when done goes back to the Main Menu.

You can't with iDVD.  However you can put all of the videos in a iDVD slideshow and it will play one after the other without returning the to menu.  Just select time for each slide to anything except manual and don't add any transitions. This slideshow would be on the first page.
Add a sub menu to the first menu and add each of the 7 individual movies to that page.  It will be your "scene selection" menu.
NOTE:  this is possible if the sum playing time of all 7 movies is less than 60 minutes because  using the slideshow method will double the playing time of your media.
If you have iMovie 6 you can put the 7 movies in it, add a transition at each movie beginning (but not within 3 seconds of any added transition) and add that to iDVD.  That will automatically create a "play all" menu and a separate scene selection menu.

  • Additional themes for iDVD

Where are some online resources for additional iDVD themes?
I've discovered http://www.dvdthemepak.com/products.html but that's the only one I could find easily.

Don't forget that you can customize the existing themes with your own photos. Drag a photo into the background area to replace the whole background (you'll still have the drop zones for additional images). Use the Marquee theme if you'd like just your photo as background (and no drop zones). Some of the backgrounds can also accomodate videos for a different look.

  • HDV captured create movie for iDVD, lot of jitter and jagged interlace play

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I wanted to downconvert from HDV capture / edit, and then just create a standard video dvd for normal tv playback. Picture looks like it will be outstanding, but any movement results in horrible jitter and jagged edges. What am I doing wrong?

Wow thanks for quick reply. Apologies I didn't give full info.
I am viewing DVD on TV - well a plasma being played via DVD on PS3.
BUT, DVPRO50 is the only output that shows a "smooth" movie, if I playback on the canvas at 50% the interlace line are gone due to the scaling BUT the movie plays jumpy, so the DVPRo50 method is the only way I can get a smooth pan for example, every other method just gives a jumpy playback on DVD.
iDVD is set to Production quality, when I do a QT movie direct to iDVD without the DVPRO50, the quality is better but the movie is jumpy.
The movie is also 47 minutes long - it's quite big, file produced is about 19GB.
Also I understand about getting HD quality and BlueRay disk etc, but I would expect to get DVD quality from iDVD, doing the DVPRO50 conversion makes it pretty bad. but smooth!
As I said the anooying things is when I exported to MP4 on quicktime at 1080 HD and 18000kbps and 29.97 it also plays smooth for a short bursts of a few seconds (albeit jumping every second to 25 -> 29.97 issues), in 25 fps it's just blurry and jumpy. (playback on PS3)
    Thanks

  • Best way to create chapters for IDVD

Ok, so I got ILife '08 and downloaded this for free so I could make chapters. Let's say I take a whole feed from my VCR to my computer using the Elgato Hybrid. What is the easiest way to make clips using iMovie? Should I split the clips into smaller clips, or use the part about chapters?

I use iDVD because it is easy to use.
My head is already crammed with HD, Avid, FCP, After Effects Photoshop, Pro Tools and Grass Valley information...not to mention all the knowledge on the art of the edit...so that I don't have much room left for DVDsp.

  • Editing Themes in iDVD '08

Is there a way I can create my own themes for iDVD '08?
I have used a few of the premade themes and I would like to explore modifying them for some of the work I do.
This would be changes such as altering color/location of preview rotations/etc. Thanks for any clues ahead of time.

Sounds like work for Apple's DVDSP and Motion (for Graphics animation) or some of these may help:

Keep in mind you can modify many of these iDVD themes to your own liking as well (but there are more limitations within iDVD as opposed to DVDSP).

  • So where can I get, if not design, themes for my 5...

I'd really like to be able to customize to the fullest. I like the built in Nokia theme, but it's just TOO default for me,a nd besides, EVERYONE has it! Thanks, in advance!

You can find 10000's of themes by searching google.
Or you can use the program in the link below to create themes for it.

The link says it's for the S60 symbian OS but the program also works with standard series 40 phones like the 5300.

  • Watercolor theme on idvd/order of slideshows

Working on 'watercolor' theme for idvd, have 4 slideshows on chapter page and want to
have them loop in a certain order but can't find info for moving them...any suggestions?

    Hi she356
Welcome to apple discussions. Technically there is no "Play All" check box within iDvd like there is within Toast for example. But here's a few ways to meet your stated objective. First make your slideshows w/in iDvd as shown below ...
Now go to Map View and drag the slideshow that you wish to start with and to loop to the first box and select the Loop function in iDvd. For example:
That one slideshow will start to play as soon as the dvd is inserted into the dvd player and it will continue to loop until you hit "Menu" and that's how you'd access the Menu for second slideshow / movie.
Now let's say you have multiple slide shows and you want them all to play one after the other and w/o returning to the main menu and also to loop. That's where QT Pro, iMovie or FCP comes in. Once you string them together as one QT file /movie then you simply drag and drop the whole thing to the very first box while in Map View and also select the loop function.
or you can make a duplicate full length movie of all slideshows as ONE movie and designate it as the third slideshow and while in Map View drag it to the first / top box; remembering to also select the loop function.
Hope this works for you but if not feel free to search this forum for other approaches that involve 3rd party apps that might provide you with even better results since they often specialize in slideshow presentations. The following iDvd discussion may shed some light on exactly which apps are available to do this. FotoMagico comes to mind (and is often recommended on this forum) and so does Toast for continuous play options. Btw, Toast now includes FotoMagico within their software.

  • How to get Old Themes into iDVD 7.1.2?

I'm running iDVD 7.1.2 on an iMac running Mavericks 10.9.1.  When I open an iDVD project I have access to theme for iDVD 7 and iDVD 6.  When try to select an Old Theme a window opens inviting me to install additional themes by choosing Download Now.
However, when I choose OK to download now the App Store opens to the Update screen and tells me there are no updates available.  What gives?  How are the old themes to be installed?

Did you have all of the themes previously on the iMac?  Look in the Home/LIbrary/Applicatiion Support/iWeb folder or in the HD/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to see if all the themes are there.
Did your Mac or a previous Mac come with install disks and was iDVD preinstalled on it?  If so and you still have the disks you can use those disks  to do a custom install of iDVD's themes,  If you have trouble getting the disks to work you can always use  Pacifist to extract and install just the themes.
Otherwise you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • How to create transitions for Premiere?

    Hello All,
I've looked and looked to see how I can create transitions for Premiere, and I keep coming up short.  I'm on a Mac and I can create transitions in Motion 5 for FCPX.  But I always been an Adobe guy... It's just frustrating that I can't seem to find any help creating them for Premiere.  I was hoping After Effect would do the trick?  Maybe a 3rd party app can do it?
Let me clear... I know how to apply a transition to my clips.  What I'm looking for is how to create a costume transition.  Example: my have an object / artwork as the transition.
    Please help.

Not sure if Spice Master is ported for the Mac, but you might want to check out Pixelan. Besides shipping with tons of Transitions, one can do a lot of creation, and their support is excellent.
    Good luck,

  • Different Themes for BB Tour

I have switched from a BB 8330 to a BB Tour.  I used the "Theme" BB Dimension Today on my curve because it showed my calendar appointments on home screen.  As far as I can tell the BB Tour only has two themes, the verizon and precision zen. Can I download the Dimension Today theme or is there any way I can set my tour to show my calendar appointments on home screen?

The program to create themes, Plazmic CDK (Content Developer's Kit), has not yet been updated to version 4.7. Their latest release was 4.6 for the Bold so until then, theme builders or developers will be unable to create themes for the 8900 or the Storm.
Hang tight. They'll release an update soon.
And to answer your question, no you cannot install an 8800 theme on to an 8900 device because the screen resolution is different. A theme is designed based on the blackberry screen, so because the 8900's resolution (480 x 360) is unique to the other 8xxx series, it will not be able to read any themes other than a 480 x 360 theme which like I mentioned above, has not been created or updated in the theme builder program.
I hope I made that easy to understand.
