Creating thumbnail gallery

Have created a page where on the left side i have got a grid of thumbnail images and what i want to happen is when you click a thumbnail a larger version appears in the blank space on the right hand side, is this possible?
Or can you recommend an alternative solution?
Thanks!

You could use flash to do it. There are a number of flash apps that can do the job. Here are several examples on the following demo pages: SimpleViewer and Flash Album Exporter; Flash Album Exporter Postcard and AutoViewer Slideshow Themes and Jalbum.
The SimpleViewer theme is the closest to what you described. Jablum has over 100 themes/skins to choose from. The SimpleViewer can place the thumbnails on either side or top of bottem. It's a free plugin for iPhoto.

  • HELP!! Creating Thumbnail Gallery Over Mutiple Pages??

    Hey guys,
I'm building my first site with Dreamweaver, I want to make a
gallery of thumbnails ( 5x5 on each page) spanning the gallery over
multiple pages. So for example thumbnails 1-25 on page 1, 26-50 on
page 2, etc... the problem is I'll need to be able to update the
gallery and add new images daily to the begginning of the first
page of thumbnails, so the most recent image takes over the #1
spot, and the current #1 thumbnail moves from the first spot to the
second, second to third, third to forth and so on...so the last
thumbnail on Page 1 moves to the first slot on Page 2 ect...
I've seen this setup used on many different sites, so I
assume it's possible. I'm completely new to dreamweaver and I can't
seem to find anything in the help on doing this, So if anyone can
please lend some advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Creating a thumbnail gallery

    hey,
i have a folder of photos that i wish to place in a flash
thumbnail gallery. does anyone have suggestions for a method or
have implemented an efficient method that has worked for them?

    Nancy,
Thankyou! THe link set up worked great.
I have no idea why my teacher wouldn't recomend this to me. If I knew about being able to do this instead of hot spots I would have the first time.
I tested it out in safari and firefox and everything is ok.
I didn't test it out yet on internet explorer yet because im on a mac.
i did have one problem though. i tested it out in opera, and when you click on the thumbnail, it does  go to the image, but doesnt obide by the size.
instead of having it fit the screen like all the other browsers, it previews the picture at the actual pixels filling the entire screen forcing you to scroll to see everything.
is there any way to fix this problem? not many people use this browser so its not too big of a deal. i can't remember exactly but it might have been the hotspot set up where you can set it so the size fits to the browser. can i set this up with the link? and if so how? it seems like it already is working fine for everything else
    thanks,

  • Thumbnail Gallery, remove spacing and rollover color

    Hello,
I am creating a gallery and would like there to be no space at all between thumbnails (see Photoshop image attached), I cannot seem to get rid of the space, is this possible in Muse?
Is there a way to make the thumbnail highlight with the yellow color at 75% opacity when I rollover? I tried playing around with the rollover states in the fill, but could not get this working either.
Also, this is just a wishlist item, but I wish I could create a gallery using the the fast lightbox method bundled with Muse, however have the flexibility to define my own thumbnails, say by going into the fill and defining a different image for the thumbnails, I could see this opening up more interesting possibilities. Just a thought.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

The slideshow widget doesn't give you the option to close the gap inbetween thumbnails.
You could use the "Blank Composition" widget in the "Compositions" widget library.
It allows you to modify the thumbnails, and also allows you to have a different image than the hero image.
There are limitiations, it is more time consuming to assemble, since you have to import each image in separately.  there also is no counter and no ability to edit together.

  • Using xml within thumbnail gallery

I'm creating a portfolio of websites I have designed.
I have it working with classic ASP & XML, but want a
    Flash version too.
    So far:
    1) I have a sliding thumbnail gallery working in Flash MX
(using AS2) whereby clicking on thumbnails loads in a larger view
of the image. These images are screenshots of the websites.
    2) I have loaded an xml file which contains locations of
thumbnails & larger images, as well as URL of each website, and
some text to describe each site's content. I am able to loop
through the xml to retrieve the data I need for each site.
I would now like to merge the 2.
i.e. click on thumbnail to slide in the larger image, and
dynamically add the URL and text descriptions for each site.
Can someone just point me in the right direction... I'll then
try to fill in the blanks, and post again with more specific
    queries if needed.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
It would be helpful if you added a new unique identifier field to your collection to ensure that the correct record gets updated. In the discussion below, I am assuming you have a collection named Col1 with columns ID, ImageURL and Description.
ImageURL points to the images that get displayed in the gallery. The text in Description is bound to the input text box (named Text1) instances.
Now, set the Behavior > OnChange property of the input text box to: UpdateIf(Col1, ID=ThisItem!ID, {Description:Text1!Text}).
Whenever the input text is changed and you shift focus by clicking anywhere else on the canvas, the OnChange rule gets executed and your collection will be updated with the new text.
    Thanks

  • Problems creating thumbnails for Firefox?

    Hello,
I am having issues creating a thumbnail gallery for just Firefox. It seems to work fine on Safari...
I basically have one giant div. I then put in 24 thumbnail images and spaced them out.
I used square hot spots and drew over each thumbnail to make the button links.
When I preview in Safari, they are all in order, but when I preview in Firefox, all the images
go in line right under one another instead of being layed out properly.
Here's my site for reference. (It's in the artwork tab)

How would I go about this problem without having to make seperate divs for each individual thumbnail?

  • Creating Thumbnails for web page links to larger images.

I want to create thumbnail images for linking to web page linking to enlargements. I'm using PhotoShop Elements 2.0 on a Dell 2400, XP Home Edition with 512mb RAM and 35gb storage available.
The language I read in help sections doesn't addressed the issue I want help with. I believe it addresses saving thumbnails for Windows and Mac using .tiff or .psd format, not the .jpg or .gif I need. It seemed like there should be a way to change the thumbnail format. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Ted,
You can use the ' Web Photo gallery ' as Jodi suggested for a large
    number of images or,
Open your image, click the bar at the top of the displayed image &
reset the size to what you want, then 'File', 'Save for Web' & save as
.jpg or .gif. .jpg gives more options for reducing file size so that
is what I use. Close the image without saving

  • Scrolling thumbnail gallery

Hello. I am trying to create a gallery that has one large image on top and a horizontal strip of thumbnails on the bottom of the layout. I need the thumbnails to be able to scroll and be a button to change the large image on top. This is for an interactive pdf for my iPad. When I import the folio onto my iPad the thumbnails scroll but do not act like buttons to change out the large image. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah I'll walk through my process real quick. I made 12 picture boxes that spread out past the page size. I inserted different jpgs into each one. I copied those to the top of the layout, aligned them horizontal and vertical, then resized them to fill most of the page. Those stack of large images I then turned into an MSO. Next I turned each thumbail into a button and assigned them to the proper state. Then I created a picture box where I want the thumbnails to be seen. I grouped the thumbnails, cut them, then did "paste into" into the picture box. The thumbnails still show the button icon on them in ID. When I upload the folio and open it on my iPad the thumbnails scroll but the thumbnails do not function as buttons for the MSO. Thanks for your help.

  • Creating photo gallery

I'm sure there must be a simple answer...but, how can I create a simple gallery. I have 85 photos I want to show. I do not like the photo page templates, so I want to create thumbnails of all and then just have the user click on a thumbnail and have a larger version of the photo popup on the same page. I realize I can do this by creating 85 copies of the thumbnail page with a larger version of each one on each page, but I'm looking for a more streamlined way. Thanks.

    Lol levy...
"I realize I can do this by creating 85 copies of the thumbnail page with a larger version of each one on each page, but I'm looking for a more streamlined way."
Right now, this is the only way that I know of doing this. Suzanne Bobben has some great examples on her page "11 mystics".... I was going to post the url but I see that .Mac has blocked her site because of bandwidth restrictions - ouch!
Sorry.. wish I had better help.

  • PSE unable to create thumbnails after Album Starter removed

My sister accepted the upgrade to Adobe Reader 8.0 and said Photoshop Album Starter was automatically loaded on her computer with that upgrade. When she had difficulty working with it, we found some instructions for unloading it, which she did. However, then her problems "really" began. Several pictures on her Desktop were renamed with the PDF file extension, and their thumbnails were totally black. Her "Pix" folder on her Desktop and all the pictures she had in it, plus other pictures stored on her Desktop, disappeared into her Recycle Bin. I restored these files and the folder back to her Desktop, but many of these also had the black thumbnails, or black thumbnails with a thin stripe of colors mixed in with the black across the top. We could still open the pictures, which was a blessing, at least.
However, things became worse as we discovered that ALL new files created with Photoshop Elements (she has both 3.0 and 1.0 and both responded the same way) will no longer create thumbnails. I opened one of the corrupted-thumbnail photos and copied the layer into a new Photoshop Elements document and saved the file with a new filename and a PSD extension thinking that would give us back a file with a thumbnail. Wrong. Still got a black thumbnail. Tried saving as a JPG; still no go. I then selected New and created a totally new document. Same result; no thumbnail. So I created new documents in her Corel Painter IX and Microsoft Paint to see if this was just an "Adobe" thing, and these other programs had no problem creating normal thumbnails with saved documents. So, it's obviously just an Adobe thing.
My only thought at this point is that unloading Adobe Album also deleted or corrupted a shared Adobe file that allows Adobe products to create thumbnails. I suggested that she try reloading her Photoshop Elements programs to see if that brings back the ability to create thumbnails.
Sorry for the long background, but does anyone out there know how to get Photoshop Elements to start creating thumbnails again after getting rid of Album? I'd be ever so grateful if you could help us out!
    Marilyn Lee

Hey, Marilyn, I found an answer! Well, this doesn't "fix" the problem, but it does allow you to work around it. There is a program (shareware) called "Thumbnail View," and you can find it at the address below.
    http://www.seriema.net/thumbview/index.php...e=download_lite
It worked for me, and my computer's not very new. I can now see PSD thumbnails where before there was just a little icon. Best of luck.

  • Need help making javascript thumbnail gallery function in javascript tab menu

    Hello all,
I have implemented a css/javascript tab menu on one of my html pages thanks to Chris Coyier (http://css-tricks.com/learning-jquery-fading-menu-replacing-content/), and within one of the tabs, which I labeled GALLERY, I am trying to place a thumbnail gallery curtosy of Trent (http://www.twospy.com/galleriffic/).
Before trying to place it in the menu, I made the gallery on a seperate html page to make sure that I could get it to work.  It does. But when I place it in the menu it shows up on page load under the content of the first tab (labeled TOUR) and not in the gallery tab.  In addition, once I click on the "gallery" tab the other tabs stop showing their content.  I feel like I am missing something obvious. But I just can't figure out what.  If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Natalie

  • Why can't I create a gallery in iPhoto in the normal way who in the past? If I sent the gallery to another the pictures are deleted!

Why can't I create a gallery in iPhoto in the normal way who in the past? If I sent the gallery to another the pictures now will be deleted!

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

  • What is the fastest way to create thumbnails in CS6?

    Hi All...
I wanted to know if there is a certain way you can take larger images and have them shrink down to a thumbnail size in an automated fashion?  Instead of having to load each image and change the dimensions and export the image as a thumbnail?  I'm using Web Premium CS6 and also have Lightroom 4.  There must be a less tedious method to create a small size and a large size image...
    Any thoughts?

You can do this easily using Actions and Batching in Photoshop CS6.
Here are two video tutorials on how to do this in CS6, specifically for creating thumbnails; using actions and batching actions. The guys is a little long-winded but is very comprehensive.
And here's an article on how to do the same thing. It's from 2007 but explains the process nicely.
