Creating titles!!

Hi. I have learned how to create titles - no problem. I have noticed now however that when I try to create a new title, the screen shows only the background picture and one tool bar at the top, which enables me to add only title/kerning etc. All of the other title bars have become undocked (e.g. - title properties, actions, styles and tools). I can bring those up individually in separate panes, but can't lock them all together as they originally looked. Any ideas?

  • How to keep Motion created titles looking sharp on final DVD?

Hello again... I'm having trouble keeping my motion created titles looking sharp on the final DVDSP project. Im exporting a title sequence out of motion into fcp and then exporting the full project via compressor for burn in DVDSP. I'm familiar with the usual temporary quality loss of titles generated with FCP or Livetype while viewing them within the FCP, Compressor, or DVDSP preview, and understand that once they are compressed and viewed on the TV they look great, but for some reason i can't get my motion created titles to do the same.
Out of Motion- i'm using the preset QT settings on the highest quality. Should i use a different setting out of Motion, perhaps an uncompressed QT or via compressor?

Thanks- i'm trying that now. And by the way.... sorry about the misunderstanding. I am exporting out of motion onto my desktop, and then importing the project using FCP.

  • Why do my imported files or created titles always go to some random bin and not the one I want?

Everytime I import a file via right clicking > Import. It will always go to some random bin that I don't want it to. Each project it's a different bin. Even if I right click > import on the bin I want it to import into, the file will still go to some pre determined default folder. Usually one of my Footage folders a couple of layers down.
This same thing happens when created titles. I usually have to do a search to find the files. When I used CS2 and 3 I never had this problem.
Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way to not have it go to a pre determined default bin? Or can I change that Bin?
Currently the only way I can get a file to go into the folder I want via importing is when I drag and drop it from my explorer window. I don't use the CS5 media browser because It doesn't have thumbnails.
    Thoughts, solutions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Close.
With this specific bin structure, if I import as you described the file imports to the Reception Bin. I tried the same proceedure with highlighting>righ clicking> and importing,  files to all bin levels even to the root level not inside a bin and it still goes to the reception bin. So for what ever reason for this project I am working on now the Reception Bin has become the default bin.
This holds true for titles as well, they get created in the reception bin.
I thought it might have something to do with the fact that I presort my footage into folders then "import folder" into the footage bin. I thought it might have something to do with the last bin I created or imported became a default bin but in this scenario. The Receception bin is the second to last folder I imported/created.

  • Brilliant way to create titles from text files

It was just pointed out to me by a fellow named Greg Hester that there is a way to create titles from a Microsoft Word file using Adobe InDesign. You can create as many titles as you need, and even change text positions around from title to title. Then you export as a PNG.
If you need to go back and change a color or a font type or size or whatever, you can do that to all of them at once and then just export again. They will automatically update in Premiere Pro.
I have never even opened InDesign before, and I was able to follow the instructions in this tutorial without a strain.
The tutorial doesn't show that you can import a frame capture from the video to help position the text, but you can.
This is very cool. If you subscribe to the Creative Cloud, then you have access to InDesign.

Best would be to have this template/style functionality in the title tool itself though
    Agreed.
Remember, all this InDesign thing does is create images that can be used as titles. My Macro created actual titles.
What really needs to happen is to have a plugin that creates titles from simple text files like the ones created from Notepad, so no Microsoft program is required. The file could have the text, the font style, and many other parameters, and then it could have the time to place the title on the sequence.
But in the meantime, this InDesign thing seems to be the best we can do for now. If, however, you want to use a fancy font style and it will all be in English, you can use my macro.

  • Can you create title cards in iphoto?

I am looking for an easy way to create title cards for a 200-image-long slide show. Can you do that in iPhoto? OldToad suggested using the card-creation aspect and saving the pdf in iPhoto but the version I'm using doesn't have that option on the menu (saves to iTunes, though).

Well a great start would be for you to tell us what you do have and what you have tried
Otherwise this will be an endless string of wild guesses
There are many different versions of iPhoto and each is different from the others - plus they run on different operating systems which can affect answers

  • Creating titles in Photoshop

    Hello,
There are times I want to create titles in photoshop or fireworks and import into iMovie.
When I do them @ 640x480, they come in all messed up.
They look fine on QT Pro.
What is the best way to do this for iMovieHD 6?
Is there a template that anyone can refer me to?
    Thanks, Richard

I guess you get the best quality if you compose the titles in the 720x480 resolution they end up with anyway (you are using NTSC, right?). Then there will ne NO scaling that can distort the image.
So make a 720x480 Photoshop document. You can set Photoshop to use 4320/4739 ~0.912 pixel aspect ratio so you see the correct dimensions.
    http://www.iki.fi/znark/video/conversion/
Then the trick: don't import that image to iMovie because it will scale the 720x480 image. Instead, open it in QT Player Pro and export it as a .dv stream. THEN import that .dv to iMovie. Then there should be no scaling.
Also remember that it is surprisingly difficult to do good-looking line-art for video. You have to slightly blur the image if it contains sharp vertical lines. Avoid some colors in NTSC etc. See also:

  • FCE crashes when creating Title clip

Every time I try to create a title clip, the program crashes. I can select the text generator I want, but when I click the Control tab to enter the text, the spinning beach ball shows up and the program crashes. It does this no matter which text generator I choose.
I've tried restarting my computer, repairing permissions, and trashing preferences as described in one similar case (com.apple.FinalCutExpress.plist, Final Cut Express Obj Cache, Final Cut Express Prof Cache.fcpch); but it made no difference.
FYI: I just purchase FCE and installed it. Software Update had trouble updating it to 4.0.1, and I had to reinstall the program to get the update to run correctly. I don't know if that's relevant to my problem.
Without the ability to create title clips, I will be unable to use Final Cut Express; so this is not a feature I can work around.

I worked with an Apple Genius to isolate font problems. We discovered it worked fine when no user fonts were enabled, so it seemed I just needed to figure out which user-installed font was corrupt. Thus I started with all my user fonts disabled and began enabling a few at a time and testing to see when the problem resurfaced. After painstakingly testing all my fonts, I have been unable to replicate the problem. You read that right: I've re-enabled ALL my user fonts, and the problem is gone.
I don't know if the crashing will resurface, as it makes no sense that the process of shutting fonts off and turning them back on should fix anything. But for now, that appears to have done the trick.

  • Creating titles on FCE

Can anyone help me figure out how to create titles on Final Cut Express? I have read my FCE book but I am still not getting it.
    Thanks!!

Go to the generators button in the lower right of the viewer. For basic text go to Text>Text. Edit your text into the timeline. Put the playhead over the text in the timeline and double click on the text in the timeline to open it into viewer. Go to the Controls tab. Change the text, color, font, whatever.

  • Unable to create titles, getting "Out of memory" error message

I am editing a project on FCE 2.0.3.
I recently re-opened the project after about a year. It is stored on a 500GB external firewire hard-drive. I am working on a Mac G5 Powermac 7.2 with OS 10.4.11 with 1GB of RAM. I have my system settings on FCE set at 100% for memory usage and still cache. All my system settings on FCE are set to save to the external drive. I have 16GB available on my G5 memory.
Every time I try to create a title using Title crawl, i get this error message:
AE Effects Error: Out of memory using "title crawl."
Also, every time I close the project and re-open it, I have to reconnect all the media and re-render everything, even though I save the project each time. I have also Saved As a different project name multiple times and this doesn't help.
One other issue: The titles that I have on the project already look clear when the video is paused on a frame, but when they are moving they look very low-res and pixilated. The pixilated look also happens when I output my video to a QT movie. How can I make the titles look sharp?
    Please help!
    THANKS

Before you do anything, trash your preferences exactly as detailed in this link:
    http://fcpbook.com/Misc1.html
+"AE Effects Error: Out of memory using "title crawl.""+
Try pushing down the memory usage and still cache a lot, and see if that helps. You only have 1GB of RAM, so keeping them at 100% is not a good idea. A computer can easily use about half a gigabyte just maintaining regular processes. To make sure you don't overload your RAM, you need to set the amount of memory FCE can use to a much smaller amount.
+"Also, every time I close the project and re-open it, I have to reconnect all the media and re-render everything, even though I save the project each time. I have also Saved As a different project name multiple times and this doesn't help."+
Are you moving files around on your scratch disk or renaming them? If so, you will have to reconnect them every time you change things.

Are you looking at the fully rendered movie? Click Option-R to render everything out.

  • How do I create titles for albums in Photo app?

When someone sends me photos in an email and I download them to my ipad2 they automatically appear in the native Photo App. When I tap Album they are grouped together with the title “Camera Roll” whatever that means. My question is: How to I change the title “Camera Roll” to a title of my choosing? I know how to do this in iPhoto on my MacBook Pro where most of my photos are grouped in “events” but have no idea how to do this on my ipad. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Photos that are emailed to you and saved to your iPad are automatically saved to the Camera Roll. You can not title the photos or albums on the iPad without using a third party app. The photo captioning ability is not built into the iOS. You can search the apps store but one app that I know of is called Photo-Sort for iPad. You can also organize and create folders for your photos with this app.

  • Cannot create title tag, meta tags for iWeb site, per Google requirements.

I created simple website in iWeb to meet art show deadline
    www.barbaraturnertigrett.com
but when I tried to submit to search engines (via GoDaddy "Traffic Blazer" product), several issues or errors noted...no title tag, meta tags, keywords, too little text, etc. Was told by Apple, there is no fix at this time...no way to access to actual HTML code, to add title tag or meta tags, etc...since iWeb is merely a consumer, not professional enterprise, product. Researching further, I even tried to submit to Google directly, not via GoDaddy "Traffic Blazer", but could not "verify" my url site (because meta tag missing and/or could not upload entire html file, as required. I'd produced client websites in past on Adobe GoLive and was learning Dreamweaver, when someone alerted me to simplicity of iWeb. It is clean and simple, but wish I'd anticipated these other issues. Is there a solution to this with iWeb or should I finish learning Dreamweaver and start over? Thanks for any advice you can share.

Both these last postings were helpful. THANKS. I could not open home.html file with "text edit", but when using Taco HTML Edit, it would open...so I dusted off (novice) HTML skills and entered the appropriate title tag and meta tag, per Google's requirements. Then, went to my GoDaddy hosting control center and (I think) I uploaded new file with new tags. Seems to be major lag time with any changes, so not sure my site is now successfully "verified", on Google. Hope I did not mess anything up, in the process. There seems to be various lag times before any changes take effect (right??).
So now...I'm very glad to find out about iMap and will buy it and watch the tutorial video, as instructed...since I am unsure if last 'fix'...fixed the problem, etc...and always eager to learn more. This is my first Apple discussion post, and certainly impressed/grateful for expert help. THX again.

  • Creating titles (shortcuts) within the DVD menu

    Hi,
    Thanks for reading this post.
I recently made a DVD for a client, the dvd was 9mins long and contained 6 different titles within the 1 sequence (main video body). The client has come back asking whether or not i can create a DVD with the 6 titles as options on the main DVD menu for their convenience.
I moderately new to editing/ mac as everything this entails. At the moment i am thinking that i will need to restructure the footage so that the 6 titles have their own sequences which i can then import into idvd individual and burn onto 1 dvd... Is there a much easier way without having to restructure the footage?
    Hope this makes sense,
    Thanks

You will need to make those 6 different videos into chapters using iMovie, then create a new iDVD project.

  • Help with creating Titles, please ..

    Hello!
I'm creating a "How-To" type training DVD video project.
It will be comprised of numerous short (~10 minute)
    subject segments.
At the end of each segment, I'd like to include a "title"
that summarizes the content of that segment.
I'd like the title to initially say:
    "SUMMARY"
Then, another item will appear such as:
    "SUMMARY"
    "1.) Always do this"
Then, another item will appear such as:
    "SUMMARY"
    "1.) Always do this"
    "2.) Don't forget to .."
    And so on.
I'll do a voice-over while the titles are changing.
(I don't want the titles to scroll or roll.)
The first problem I have is trying to replicate
the initial title, and progressively add text to the title
without disturbing the position of the initial text so
that it doesn't "jump around" through transitions.
Is there a preferred way to do this in Premiere?
Or, should I be using Photoshop or some other external
program to be creating these type of titles, importing them
and cross fading them in Premiere?
    Thanks!
    --Tom Nickel

    Tom,
One way to handle this would be to create multiple Titles for your initial, "Summary," and position the type where you want it. Each "bullet point" would then be a separate Title, on a separate Video Track. You can either animate these, or keyframe in/out the bullet points below. When placed on the lower (of the Title Video Tracks), Track, you will need to "stretch" the Duration of your "Summary" title to cover all of the time, that you want it to appear. Then add the bullet-point Titles of however long you want them to appear on the Video Tracks above it. Their Duration will probably be different with, say the first being longer, the next being a bit shorter and the final one shorter still.
Other than animating (remember you can only animate one line, so for multiple line bullet-point Titles, you'll need a separate one for each line), I'd think that keyframing either a Blur Effect, or Opacity to fade in/out these other Titles would be a good choice. You could also add a Dip-to-Black at each end of each one to "fade" them in/out.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
