Creating To Dos in Mail that appear in iCal

I use the To Do feature in Mail quite extensively and I want to know if there is anyway of getting these notes to appear in iCal, preferably at the time that the alarm is set? This way, they are all in one place and I will then also be able to sync them to my iPhone.
Cheers!

Sorry. I meant in iCal. Don't know of ToDos in Mail.

  • How to send a mail that appears as meeting dialog in MS outlook?

    Hi:
Is it possible for the mail adapter to send a mail that appears as a meeting dialog in Ms outlook? If yes, could you please tell how to do it? Actually I'm developing my own module. Thanks a lot.

if writing a module does not help you...I would suggest you go for a Java proxy for sending this mail and refer to this link for creating a Outlook meeting request using Javamail.

  • How do I create a rule in mail that only applies to flagged messages?

I would like to create a rule in mail that would delete messages of a certain age, but I need to keep some messages safe. I would like to be able to flag these or put them in a mailbox and have a rule making messages with those flags or mailboxes safe from being deleted. Is that something I can do? Thanks!

You can create a local mailbox and move the messages you want to keep there. I don't see any kind to rule you can make to move a flagged message, so you would probably have to do it manually, unless you can use other criteria to identify messages you wish to keep.
If you're using the server settings in mail to determine the age before deletion, the local mailboxes would be safe from that deletion. You can set to store messages on server for up to 30 days before deletion. This will work for IMAP accounts, but don't apply to the inbox. Just to the other main mailboxes such as Sent, Trash, etc.
If you create a rule to delete messages after a certain age (outside of what the servers would do automatically), I think it would only work on the inbox if at all, but not sure. If it were applied through all, it would delete them from the local folders also.
You can create a smart mailbox and input certain criteria such as flagged, age. You could exclude any mailbox that you don't want to include, such as local folders, by adding that to part of the criteria. You would have to delete the messages manually as they accumulate. This would be useful when you save a lot of mail, but say you only want to keep messages less than a year old. This would help you instantly see messages that meet your deletion criteria without having to manually check messages for age.

I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RECOVER THE ANSWERS OF SECURITY SINCE THE MAIL THAT APPEARS TO DO THIS MEAN I NEED TO CHANGE THE OTHER SHOULD I DO FOR THE TRUTH WILL MAKE A PURCHASE AND ME THE REQUESTS, AS IS A NEW PHONE EXPECT AN ANSWER PROMPT AND POSITIVE
so I get looks but that is not my email recovery can help you reset your security information by sending a message to your email recovery: j ••••• @ mail.com

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Events received in Mail not appearing in iCal

My fiancee is having some problems with iCal. When she receives an event it used to (and still does on my machine) appear in iCal automatically, whether she had read the email or not. Now, to get an event from Mail into iCal she has to open the attachment.
Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?
    Thanks!

Is she receiving them as iCal event invitations from an iCal user?
If so, for me anyway, these do show up directly in iCal without opening them in Mail. And as you're aware, they are counted up with the little red number on the iCal icon down in the Dock.
Now when I get invitations for my iCal from OUTLOOK (non-iCal, basically) users, this never happens. I have to explicitly open the invite in Mail, double-click the icon to get it over into iCal, etc.
If you're talking about pure iCal-to-iCal invites, I agree, her system is not working as mine does or I would expect it to. Maybe take a look into iCal -> Preferences? --DG

  • Creating To Dos in Mail

    1) I create a To Do item by right-clicking in an email view (> New To Do).
    2) I give it a name (it shows up on this yellow note paper background)
    3) then I check in the side bar under Reminders > To Do:
But I find that the To Do I created has no title.
    4) Then I check iCal, there too, no title.
After much fiddling around I found out that I can only set the name doing it in iCal or from the To Do view in Mail. Adding a title in the Message view and then quitting mail just looses the title.
    It's completely fubar.
    Anyone else with this issue?
    Cheers,
    Phil

Unfortunately, there's no way to do this by default. You might be able to set up a smart mailbox that only shows uncompleted todos though. Hopefully there'll be a way to do this in a future version of Mail.

  • Missing messages in Mac Mail that appear in my PC Outlook

Ok - this is VERY strange. I recently posted an ad on Craigs List and was surprised to get just a single response. Later in the day I went to my office & on my PC, in outlook, were about 12 emails responding to the posting. Including 3 follow-up emails from the single response I did get on my Mac (in other words I got 1 of the 4 messages the same guy sent on my MacBook). I get email on both computers regularly - everything is redundant as I have messages stay on the server for 21 days so I get all my email in multiple places (I have 3 laptops & a blackberry). I assumed the missing mail would be in the junk folder - NOPE. The mail is no where to be found on my Mac. Had I not looked on my pc for mail I would have missed all the emails - any ideas? BTW - when I go to webmail, all messages are there. I continue to get all other mail throughout the day so mail is sending & receiving just fine.

& it gets better. I looked on my other MacBook Pro with 10.6.3 & in it's mail program contains ALL the missing messages but they were in brown listed as Junk. But at least they were in the list!

  • All mail messages appear in ical work calendar

For some mysterious reason, all email messages I receive in Mail turn up as To Do items in my Work calendar in iCal. I tried turning off the iCal option 'Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail', but that makes no difference. Anybody any ideas as to what I can do to prevent this behaviour? Thanks.

I solved my own problem!  Go to Mail-> Perferences...-> Viewing and deselect "Include related messages"

  • I have reviewed all written responses about the number in red circle that appears on ical icon and all of them mention an envelope in the bottom left-hand corner with an invitation.  I have the number but no envelope.  How do I remove it?

I have a number in a red circle on the ical icon at the bottom of the desktop.  I know from reading previous (quite old) posts that there should be an envelope with an invitation in the left-hand bottom corner of the ical page.  I don't have the envelope.  My partner recently got a new Mac and was trying to join our calendars and it caused some problems for me so she discontinued that merge.  We are no longer connected (by Mac, I mean).  This may have caused the problem but now I don't know how to get rid of that number.  I can't find any event that she added to my calendar to click on to perhaps get rid of it.  Any ideas?

    pacull,
Use iCal>View>Show Notifications to choose what to do with the notification.

  • How to delete all of the e-mails I have opened and that appear to the right of the INBOX at the top of Firfox without having to delete each one individually by clicking one at the time? thanks

When I open Firefox and then hit INBOX to see all e-mails in my inbox and then when I have read those I open the subject matter of each e-mail appears opposite the INBOX and in order to delete all of these e-mails I have to click on every one individually to delete them. Is there a way to delete all of the e-mails that appear at tthe top in one click? thanks,

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

  • Unknown e-mail addresses appearing as options

When choosing an e-mail to send to, there are various e-mails that appear as options that I don't recognise.  They are not in my contacts, and aren't addresses I've previously mailed. I would like to delete them, so they do not appear as options in future.  Any suggestions as to how I can delete them/stop them appearing?
    Thanks.

    I have this issue too.
for me there is a mix of 1) emails I have never used, but appear to be one of many variations of my email (typical of mass mailing lists used for spamming), 2) email address I have used, but are not "mine", eg billing department, and 3) email addresses that are inactive since a long time ago, but have been used in the past.
I have not found any way to find them in the contacts or delete them.

  • Hi, I'm trying to update some apps in my iPhone, and the Id that appears is not my correct ID. How can I change? But this happens only to update de apps, to bye new apps, de ID is correct.

Hi, I'm trying to update my apps, but the e-mail that appear there to update, is note my apple ID. But when I'm going to buy some app, the e-mail is correct. The problem is when I'm going to update the apps.   How can I change?

I get it with my original ID, I never changed my ID.  And when I'm getting new apps, it's normal, the problem appear when I'm going to update the apps that I already have.  The other e-mail that appears is another e-mail of mine, but I don't have any ID in apple with this e-mail.
I tryed to restore my iphone, but the problem continue the same.

  • Mail always creates To-Dos in IMAP folder.. message pop-ups annoying.

I tried to create a new todo in Mail by right-clicking on a message and choosing the option.
Apart from the text styling looking very ugly, I can't use this feature because a message keeps popping up:
+Different versions of a To Do item have been found for the account "Gmail"+
No matter which button I press to close the dialogue it keeps coming back. Eventually I have to look in the Gmail To-do folder and delete the to-do.
I notice this bug was found back in Feb 2008 on Leopard: http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=80739
I have tried changing the preference for notes to be created 'On My Mac' and not in Gmail IMAP but the preference does not seem to do anything - it still keeps dropping them in the Gmail account. This is after closing prefs, quitting and restarting Mail.
    Very annoying.
Anyone know how to solve it?
Is this an OS X bug?

quit Mail, open iCal and delete all gmail to-dos. start Mail and see if that helps.

  • How do you create the 'cream pop-up info text boxes' that appear when you hover mouse over?

    Hi people,
I really need to know how you create the 'cream pop-up info text boxes' that appear when you hover your mouse over an object on a webpage (and often in any program e.g. Photoshop) for more than a second. I need to know because the logo on my website is the navigation tool used to return to the homepage. It is always found in the top left so the user can always click it to return.
The only problem is im the only one who knows that when you click my logo, you return to the homepage. I need one of these 'cream info boxes' (forgive my lack of knowledge) to appear so the user will figure it out.
Thanks for taking the time to read my question...

Using your code it should look like this where title attribute is in red:
    <div id="apDiv2"><a href="index.html"><img src="divs_dw/jtgd_logo_trans.png" alt="jtgd_logo" title="your description goes here" width="176" height="163" /></a></div>
