Creating variants in BEX reports in BI 7.0

hI ,
We are in BI 7.0 .
I am trying to create variant with SY-DATUM -1 in bex report .
Whenever I execure the report , the selection screen date should be syatem date - 1 in variant .
When i select the variant it should automatically pickup current date -1 . I was familiar with BW3.5 but BI 7.0 screen is totally different .
Please can anybody help to me resolve the issue

Hello Venkat,
You can create a customer exit variable for 0CALDAY and assign the value SY-DATUM - 1 in the exit . So whenever you execute the variable it will be filled with the current date - 1 value.
Goto the General Tab page and select the processing type as Customer Exit,

  • Creating Chart in BeX Report

    I have few questions regarding creating Chart in BW Report. One thing I need to make it clear it's a simple BeX Report not a WAD report.
    (1) How should I create a chart in the Report?? Should I have to create it in the Excel Sheet once I run the report?
    (2) Do I need to create the chart everytime manually once I run the report or is there any way we can save it and everytime we open the Report it should display the chart automatically !!
    (3) When users drill up/ drill down or group data in different views, the Chart should be dynamically changed follow the change in data set. Is it possible to do that??
    Thanks,

    hi,
    you can add a chart to your report. it is possible.check out these links for details..

  • How to create variant for HIER reports

    Hello,
    I have to run program RKDBAT02(Background Processing for Drilldown Reports) from a FM that i created.
    i have to run this program with a variant that i need to update with the values from my FM.
    My problem is tha I am trying to use the regular variants FM as RS_VARIANT_VALUES_TECH_DATA to get the variants
    fields that i have to load or fm RS_CREATE_VARIANT and in the parameter report name i put the HIER report name.
    I keep getting an error that this is not a report. I can put the program hier report name which is a long string,
    but the string name change dynamically between clients.
    I need a way to load the variant of the hier report .
    TNX
    Yifat

    fill in the values in the selection screen and then hit the save as button.
    give it a name, enter. the variant is now save.

  • Report Painter: Create variant for specific report created

    Hello,
    My knowledge in very weak in report painter.
    In the initial screen of a report created to analyse the budget by internal order whe have the year and the period of analysis.
    By default, for every user the year is 2010 and the period of analysis is from month 1 to month 1.
    My question, and I am sorry to ask such a simple question, is how can we change this initial screen?
    The aim is to have for every user, when connecting the report, by default the year 2011 and the period of analysis from month 1 to month 16?
    Thank you.
    Best Regards.
    R.

    Hi
    1. Go to GRR3 and identify the variable used in your report
    2. Go to GS12 / GS13 and check the variable definition
    May be some default value is specified there / or it is formula variable... Double click on the formula variable and you can check how it is defined...
    For the variable related to PERIOD - You need to specify a different variable for the From & To and specify the default value as 1 and 16

  • General Question on BPS - BEx reporting

    Hi there matez,
    I have :-
    Planning Level Z: which contains the 2 following Package's
    PACKAGE A: Actual Data
    Version  -> Plan
    Currency -> USD
    Fiscal Year/Period -> (replaced by Variable in Layout)
    Fiscal Year Variant
    Listing  -> a Characteristic
    PACKAGE B: Plan Data
    Version  -> Plan
    Currency -> USD
    Fiscal Year/Period -> (replaced by Variable in Layout)
    Fiscal Year Variant
    Listing  -> a Characteristic
    LAYOUT (Key Figures in Lead Column)
    Version             -> Header
    Currency            -> Header
    Fiscal Year/Variant -> Header
    Fiscal Year/Period  -> Data Column
    Listing             -> Lead Column
    My Question specifically here is :-
    1) When I execute my report, how do I know which PLANNING PACKAGE is the data coming from ?
    2) So, if I were to now create in my BEx report a Column for <b>Month:Actual</b> Values and <b>Month:Plan</b> Values, how can I achieve this ?
    3) In my current report, I see in certain cells the text ' ERROR' instead of the USD ?
    Kindly advice.

    Hi John
    Q1
    When i say report do u mean BIW Query or BPS Layout:
    If BPS Layout:
    Then whenever u create a planning folder u have to select the package. The data will come from the package selected
    If BW Query:
    Then package is irrelevant as the data will be from the cube.
    Q2
    In case u were to see plan and actual in the column then u can place the version char in column in ur query and restict it to the plan and actual version.
    (In ur example u hv given veriosn as plan in both the package. I think it shld be Plan and Actual)
    Q3
    The reason u r seeing error in certain cells might b bcoz that data is coming without currency/UoM.
    Hope this is helpful

  • Data load from BPC into BI 7 cubes for Bex reporting

    Hi,
    Can we pull BPC planning data into the BI cubes so that Bex reports can be created for combined data from BPC cubes and BI cubes?
    Also can we create Bex reports on BPC cubes just like we create for BI reporting cubes?
    Let me also give an example of the scenario we face.
    We have actuals data in a BI 7 basic cube(Actuals cube). Planning is done in BPC, so I understand  that the planned data gets automatically stored in a BPC cube in BI7 system. I want to load the data from this BPC cube to BI Actuals cube and create a combined Bex report to show actuals and plan data.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Archana

    AS of now, if you report data in the BPC7NW cubes through BEx, you may not get the same result as you get from BPC reports. The reason being BEx won't do the same calculations (for example sign reversals) that BPC client would do. In addition, you won't be able to report the results of the dimension member formulas when you report through BEx. If you have to get data out from BPC cubes to other cubes, you can go through SQE (shared query engine) and that way, yyour results will match with what you get in BPC reports. Once you get data out through SQE into other cubes, you can use BEx to report if you wish.
    More functionality will be available in near future to accomplish BEx reporting for BPC data.

    Pravin

  • Variant for multiple reports

    Hi Experts,
    Does anyone know if it's possible to create variants that serve for multiple reports?  If so, how?
    I have 10 very similar reports which use the same selection screen defined in an include for all of them.
    Regards,
    Simon

    Hi,
    It is not possible to create variant for multiple reports as it is said as
    you must create a separate variant for each report and then save it with the report where the values will be used.
    refer this line in the link

  • Unable to create global variant for BEx query

    Good Day BI Experts.
    I would like to be able to provide some of my power users with the ability to create global variants to BEx queries executed using Analyzer.  When they try to save a global variant now, they receive the message "You are not authorized to create variant name".  Is there a generic role that can be assigned to the user for this?  Or perhaps a PFCG setting to an existing role?  I'm rather new at this, so details would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Casey

    Hi.
    Your users need to have create and change access for auth object S_RS_PARAM to create variants.
    You can enforce a naming convention by maintaining the values of "tech name of variant" like Z*, according to your needs.
    Regards
    Jacob
    P.S:
    If you have a general role for report users, add the auth object to that one in PFCG if it's not already there. In the latter case, you might have to change the values, to let your users maitain things...

  • Can I create one single  crystal report using 2 bex queries

    HI all,
    I have 2 bex queries and has to develope a single crystal report .Is it possible???? If so, than how to connect two bex queries  and develope  one single crystal report.Any other option is also fine. I mean ....no need to use crystal..( I can go for one single webi..).But need to know the approach ...
    or else...can I create universe on 1 bex and other universe on other bex ..and go for one single webi report..
    Only problem is client is particular about one single report(either crystal or webi)
    if i go for webi ...I know we can use link universe option but I dont know whether it works fro OLAP environment.
    Please let me know if I can link OLAp universes and go for 1 single webi report.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mahathi

    You can use either CR or WebI.
    In CR Designer create the report using the SAP toolbar (Create report from query) based on the 1st BEx query. Then use the Database expert (first entry in the Database menu) to add an additional connection to your 2nd BEx query (+Create new connection->SAP BW DX query). You can then join the results of the 2 different queries in the database expert also.. Please note that if you do NOT want to join the result sets, then it is more efficient to use subreports. Create two different CR reports, each based on one of the BEx queries and then use one of those as your main report and insert the other one into it as subreport. Once embedded you do not have to keep the separate .rpt file of your second report.
    For Webi you must build 2 universes, each based on one of your BEx queries. In your report you can add multiple queries based on different universes. You can join the results sets here by using the Merge dimensions button in the report editor area.
    Regards,
    Stratos
    PS; Keep in mind that joining a large number of rows at report level (either in CR or WebI) can cause performance problems. If this is your requirement, how many rows do you expect to get back from each individual query?

  • BPC 10.1 Unified Model - Is it a must to have BEx query to create an input form/report?

    Dear All,
    Have a cube(Unified) created in BW 7.4.
    To create an input form using that cube(unified), Is it mandatory that I need a BEx query for the input form/report?
    i.e. To create an input form/report in BPC 10.1 Unified environment using a Unified model, is it a MUST to have a BEx query in place? Or, can I create an input form using 10.1 Unified model without BEx query using 10.1 Unified model?
    Thank you!
    Regards,
    Peri

    Hi Peri,
    It doesn't matter what you include in the rows and what in columns or free characteristics: think of it as a sub-cube of the original cube. You are basically listing Dimensions you need in a group of you reports and can add new measures.
    In BPC report you'll arrange them on the screen, format, protect, etc.
    So, some of it is a repeat (not all tho), but for different purposes.
    Hope this helps,
    Gersh

  • BEx Report Performance with selection-screen input

    Hello Gurus,
    My Bex report is working fine when the report had run with out PLANT filter in the selection-screen but when report had run with plant in the selection-screen , report running for forever.
    Please let me know what I need to do improve the performance.
    Saleem.

    Hi Saleem, Just a few thoughts;
    1. Check the M-table in RSD1 for 0PLANT. In Table View edit any blank or null values. Run the same restrictions you apply in the query at Info provider level > Display Data. If there's any lapse; you can judge where exactly the problem lies.
    2. If you are using Infocube & that your master is >20% fact; you can declare the Info object as 'Line Item Dimension'.
    3. Create Variants. Esp. if you are running the query for same set of data. Try Variable Preselection: You can restrict both the values + varaiables in the filter level. When you execute the values will be visibly pre-selected in selection screen.
    4. As discussed in previous messages, running a SQL trace using RSRT may prove useful.

  • Issue with Variable Personalisation in Bex Report

    Hi Gurus,
    I'm facing a typical problem with Variable presonalisation in the Report.
    I've executed a BEX Report and filtered data on some characteristics and used SAVE AS Button on the Portal to save the resultset. When I'm trying to use the variants, again say after  2 or 3 days i couldn't find updated data for particular variants upon using the same variants rather its refelecting the old data. Further more when I execute the report and try filtering on the same criteria altogether, I'm able to see updated result set.
    Is there any setting to be enabled when we personalise variants or variants are dependent on the data or the date on which they are created. Not sure why the reports are behaving this way. Or Do I need to create variants time and again.
    Any pointers would be of great help.
    Regard,
    Yaseen

    Hello,
    In the BEx report, when you get the variable selection screen there input your selection and at the bottom you have the option of saving them as a variant.
    Now in future when you run the report simply use this variant and execute the report. It should work fine.
    Also remember date selection can be tricky. If you input todays date in the variant, it wil consider the same date in further references. So do a check on that too.
    Regards,
    Shashank
