Creating Video for Internet Viewing

Hi
I am wanting to create short videos (of up to 10 mins) and upload them to my website. Can anyone advise on the following questions:
1. What's the best format for online viewing?
2. What can I do whilst exporting the video in FCE to create a file which downloads quickly but doesn't compromise quality?
3. How would the answers to the above differ if I were to use HD instead of SD?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi(Bonjour)!

MPEG and H.264 codec (supported by quicktime for mac or windows) are great.
May be you web hosting provider has some spec and restriction (about size and bandwith) that you have to take in count. Ask him about those limits. There are also youtube, vimeo and other free service.
2. What can I do whilst exporting the video in FCE to create a file which downloads quickly but doesn't compromise quality?
That's the graal of compression. Different content involve different compression settings. Frame size, data rate, level of compression, audio format, rapid moving subjects, etc. That are many factors to take in account. Try by yourself with 1 minute sequence to test the result.
Look at those links to get more infos:
http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/compressor_h-264_moviesfcp.html (compressor info but relevant for quicktime conversion)

3. How would the answers to the above differ if I were to use HD instead of SD?
HD is around 5 times the pixel count than DV, so their final size is larger than SD. HD content reduced to SD smaller frame size give better result that SD at SD frame size.

  • How to create EVENTS for a View Cluster.

    Hi Tech Gurus,
I have created a view cluster on 5 tables. I need to do a validation and this can be done by using events. But i am unable to create a EVENT for the View Cluster. Could anyone please tell me how to create events for a View Cluster.
Thanks in advance for your esteemed replies.
    Regards,
    Raghavendra Goutham P.

    Hello Pasapula
When you are in the View Cluster maintenance dialog (SE54) click on dialog "Events".
Below the field for the view cluster you have an additional field <b>FORM routines main program</b>. There you have to add the main program containing the FORM routines called by the VC events.
For example: I had defined a normal report containing an include with all the FORM routines. The report contains only the following lines of coding:
    report zus_0120_u1.
    * Common Data und access routines for user exits in VC maintenance
    include LSVCMCOD.
include  zus_0120_f1. "FORM routines for VC events
Now in the "Events" dialog of the view cluster maintenance you assign your FORM routines to the events.

  • How to create variant for table/view ?

    Hi,
When I go through SM30, I find a radio button called variant. I don't know the effect.
Can anyone tell me how to create variant for table / view ?
I want to know when we need to create variant for table/view.
    Best regards,
    Chris Gu

    hi ,
Whenever you start a program in which selection screens are defined, the system displays a set of input fields for database-specific and program-specific selections. To select a certain set of data, you enter an appropriate range of values.
For further information about selection screens, refer to Selection Screens in the ABAP User's Guide.
If you often run the same program with the same set of selections (for example, to create a monthly statistical report), you can save the values in a selection set called a variant
    Procedure
    To create a new variant:
           1.      On the ABAP Editor initial screen, enter the name of the program for which you want to create a variant, select Variants, and choose Change.
           2.      On the variant maintenance initial screen, enter the name of the variant to be created.
Note the naming convention for variants (see below).
           3.      Choose Create.
If the program has more than one selection screen, a dialog box for screen assignment appears. The dialog box does not appear if the program only has one selection screen. The selection screen appears in this case.
           4.      If there is more than one selection screen, select the screens for which you want to create the variant
    5.      Choose Continue.
The (first) selection screen for the report appears.
If your program has more than one selection screen, use the scroll buttons in the left-hand corner of the application toolbar to navigate between them and to fill the fields with values. If you keep scrolling forwards, the Continue button appears on the last selection screen.
           6.      Enter the desired selection values, including multiple selection and dynamic selection.
           7.      Choose Continue.

  • Cannot export video clips.  Get message: "unable to create video for export"

Cannot export video clips from iPhoto to Finder folder.  Export fails with message "unable to create video for export: "
The video clips play correctly within iPhoto.
Software: iPhoto version 9.5 on OSX 10.9
    Hardware: Retina Macbook Pro 2.3 i7 8GB

Yes.  I have 3,184 video clips in this library.  I tested Reveal function by randomly selecting individual video clips and in every case the Reveal in Finder function worked correctly.  I also tested this on random selections of groups of video clips and, again, the Reveal function worked correctly in every case.
Some more info that may be relevant:
I have multiple iPhoto libraries.  My "main" library is very large (~30,000 files) and is located on an external hard drive (2TB WD) which is connected via USB.
The problem reported here is occuring on that "main" library.  I have not opened any other iPhoto library since installing the new release.
While the File>Export function does not work, I have been able to simply copy and paste video clips from iPhoto library to a folder on Mac hard drive.  It appears that meta data is copying correctly along with the video content.
I am able to import these copied video clips to iMovie.  Meta data is imported along with the video content and I'm able to perform iMovie editing functions on those clips without any problems.
In summary, the File>Export function still fails with the message "unable to create video for export."  Copying video clips and pasting them to interim folder seems to be a viable workaround enabling me to extract video clips from iPhoto for import to iMovie.  I will run additional tests to see if I can find a pattern to the video files that are being rejected by iPhoto Export function.

  • Creating video for web

    Hi,
I'm currently putting together some videos in FCP for our new website. I've used FCP a lot for creating video for DVD's and exporting to .mov but converting to flash is relatively new to me.
I am using the On2 Flix FLV exporter to export direct from FCP to a 704 x 396 flv file.
Can someone clarify how I should set up my sequence in FCP to get the best quality results? All the source material is DV PAL for video (720 x 576 anamorphic) and PNG-24 for still images (in this case a background which I will input text over in FCP). Should I be setting all my sequences to 704 x 396, and what pixel aspect ratio should I use seeing as it is for flash/web use?
Also, in the Sequence Settings dialog box what should I set as the Compressor settings (dv pal/h.264 etc) as flv does not appear as an option?
    Thanks
    Jack

Thanks guys. So if I am to carry on working in the standard DV-Pal sequence I'm wondering what to do when importing graphics. I have been given a psd which contains a title screen that will be placed before each video. The psd has been given to me at 704 x 396 - the size of the final delivered FLV rather than the DV Pal sequence. When I bring this image into FCP and render it makes the image look pixelated/blocky (I'm exporting from Photoshop as a PNG-24). What is the proper way to export graphics for use in Final Cut? Should I re-size the image to match the sequence or bring it in at 704x396 and have Final Cut resize it?
    Thanks
    Jack

  • Creating videos for web with QuickTime Pro

    HI,
I need to create videos for my web site that are compatible with the Ipod. However, I also need to create a file that can be played on a PC, without requiring the use to install a plug in (e.g. Flash or similar).
Does QuickTime Pro have anything that can help me produce a video that is compatible with both the Ipod and the standard PC web browser?
    Thanks very much,
    Jamie Dolan

Every video format will require a browser plug-in be used.

  • Creating video for YouTube - which user settings?

I've seen a lot of posts about converting video for posting on YouTube but I can't find any information on the best sequence setting to CREATE video for posting on YouTube. I'm making a 30-45 second promotional video that will be entirely made up of stills/text and music, so I'm just going to be doing moves on jpegs. YouTube videos are now displayed 640.360, but I can't find a FCP sequence preset that will allow me to create a video at that size. Am I missing something? Should I just create it at some other widescreen setting then convert it down? Trying to keep this is simple as possible -- do not want to have to render every clip in the timeline.
    thanks,
    p

    Am I missing something?
Make your original video in one of the codecs supported by Final Cut Pro. You will find a list of possible codecs in the Easy Setup menu.
do not want to have to render every clip in the timeline...
Your source material is JPEG images. While they can be imported, they don't use a codec of their own. They will have to be rendered.

  • Creating Video for HTML5 on MacPro

Hello Everyone, How would I go about creating video for the Ipad on a Macpro? I use to use flash but I guess I had to go to HTML5. Any good programs anyone out there recommends?
    Thanks

You can use iMovie. If you "Export using QuickTime" (Share menu in iMovie '09) and use the Apple TV preset it should work just fine. You can, I believe, also use the "Export Movie" -> HD preset if you have HD-quality content; the iPad can play up to 720p.
    Regards.
P.S. There is as of yet no defined standard for video codecs in HTML5. Just for the sake of accuracy.

  • Recomended configurations for creating video for the web

I'm working on a project creating video segments for the web (no plans for broadcast of DVD) and I'm looking for opinions on the most efficient way to use FCP to do this. We are shooting with an HD camera with a green screen and composting a couple of additional layers of Motion graphics and we found that the render times were really long. I'm looking for ways to mitigate this, on thing we did was switch from shooting in 1080p to 720p. We also tried shooting at 24fps instead of the broadcast 60fps and that cut our render time by a good percentage. Since the final product is going to be 640 by 360 at 15fps it seems like a good trade off but are there any down sides I'm not thinking of.
I was also wondering if there might be an advantage to working at the size of the final product, if the FCP sequence were 640 by 360 would there be any advantages in terms of render times and what might the disadvantages would be.
This is my first semi-professional project, just been a hobbyist up until now so any advice is appreciated.

those simple steps reduced the number of pixels in each frame from about a million to 750,00, about 25%; and you reduced the number of frames from 30 or 60 to 24 or 48. So, yeah, your rendering times are going down. If your Motion project has ten HD layers you're saving tons of processing.

Absolutely. But you engaged the project without knowing how you were going to accomplish anything; implies your plans for improving workflow will be similarly incomplete. We all got by with NTSC and plan ol' DV for decades. The web is a low end distribution system, not a theatrical viewing experience. You can force your viewers to download a huge file and watch it on their TVs or you can open it up in weensy teeny window on their iPhones.

Purists will be correct in telling you better source footage results in better uploads. I will tell you that's true but it's academic. Your realworld needs are based on your web upload, not your plans to archive high def footage for future exploitation.
Here's what I'd do: Work backwards. Figure out what your upload needs are--exactly. Research Compressor and other compression systems to determine how you are going to process your project to get the target output. Now decide what format that software wants to process to create the best results. then figure out how you want to provide that input for the compression application. then figure out what the tradeoffs are for your original footage in terms of your camera resources, your skills with the camera, and your mistaken impression that effects and chromakey should be fast.

  • What is the best way to create videos for my website?

    Hi,
I'm a public speaking coach in Sydeny Australia.  I've started a blog and want to include videos to my newsletter subscribers.  I do not want to use YouTube, because I want to only share these videos to people on my list.
What is the best way / program to create good videos for my customers?  I think I might need to upload these videos to my server and only share the links...?  Any suggestions welcome.
    Thank you

    Trevor:
This may be more information than you asked for, but here goes:
Get a Samsung S10 Video camera (under $400) and a Zoom H4n Professional audio recorder.  Get Adobe Production Premium CS5. The camera shoots 1920 x 1080 square pixel in a better quality than a $6000 Panasonic P2 from 4 years ago. The downside, the audio from the Samsung is poor. That's why I recommend the Zoom H4n. On the Premiere timeline, you simply align the waveform of the video with the higher quality wave from the H4n. You can buy a medium sized fold up greenscreen and place any background behind your talent.  CS5 has Ultra built in, so you can easily key out the green right on the Premiere timeline revealing a nice background of your choice.
I would design a web page based upon your current website's look and feel that will be a template for your videos. You export your finished video from the Premiere timeline as an f4v. I would recommend 16x9 widescreen and use the Flash preset of "Web Large Widescreen". You can also specify a "Fullscreen" button on the video's controller. The quality is so good that the video will look good even when your client watches it full screen. You import the video into Flash CS5 using the same document dimensions as your video size.  You create a Flash template and "Publish" your Flash movie TO your template. Then all that is necessary is to upload all of the associated Web ready files to your server via FTP or Dreamweaver. This workflow streamlines the process and saves hours of fiddling around.
As far as the Web page goes that has your video, give the pages an HTML name like; vid0096hvc.html and use the Robots No Follow tag:
    <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">
This is the next best thing to having a client log-in and works in a setting where people aren't paying
to see the video, but you still don't want them plastered all over the internet.

  • Getting videos for web viewing right

Using Xserver on Quad Mac G5 and QTSS. I would like to stream videos like the one in Apples live events. Quite impressive. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwsf08/
Using FCP pro 5.1.4 compressor 2.3 and selecting QT 7 for download. Using this on a web site produces less than desirable results. Usually blurry video or I get the "Q" in the movie template of iWeb and have to wait some time for it to download to start playing.
What are the tools used to create the high quality videos in these live events?

I'm tagging this one also.. I'm a new convert to the Mac (one more sleep until Mac Pro deliery!!). I normally do 10 megs for 2 minutes of 640X480 WMV video for web delivery and thought that was good when editing on the PC.. until I started to see some of these tech tutorials also.. and yeah.. crisp! But more importantly, is that thought the 100% viewing size might be on the smaller size, there isn't a lot of visual quality loss when expanding the view to 200% or more.. Now THAT was impressive..
I want to learn all of this.. =) So much stuff, so little time.. sigh

  • Creating TCode for Maintanace View

    Hi Experts,
I created a maintenance view for a ztable.
    Ex. ZVIEW.
I dont want to give authorization of SM30 to User.
now i want to create a tcode for this.
in se93 i created a tcode by using parameters option.
But in this i have to give Tcode : SM30. but there is no authorization for sm30.
How to create tcode for this without authorization of sm30.

    Hi
    1) Create a table maintainance/View for the Z* Table.
Once you create the view goto SE93>Select Parameter transaction and give the short desc.>
Give the transaction as SM30(Skip the first screen-optional)>Check all check boxes under GUI support>In the default values(grid)section first row give the VIEWNAME as you created initially and the second row UPDATE as X.
2)The SAP naming convention reserves underlining in the second or third position for special objects. The object which you are processing does not belong to these special objects.
    Mark the all helpful answers.

  • Creating Video for iPod

Followed the steps from the tutorial - exporting a mpeg video to "Movie to iPod (320x240)" and created a m4v video. Problem is two fold, first it has no sound, secondly I dragged the new video into the iTunes library and it shows up there and perform the update but the iPod does not display Videos in the main menu, am I missing something? Use is on a iPod+hp 30GB product #PS492AA

QT does not support the export of sound from mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 video files: QT Mpeg Limitations
You can overcome this limitation by using this freeware Windows program to convert the mpeg-1 to uncompressed avi format. QT will be able to read that format and will export both sound and video from it. Only problem may be that it creates very large files. That is not an issue for short things like music videos but any mpeg over a few minutes may swamp your hard drive.
If length/file size is not a problem, try it. VirtualDub
Open the mpeg-1 in VDub, go to the File menu and use Save As Avi. It will by default use uncompressed avi sound and video.
I can't help you with the iPod main menu issue. Maybe someone elso will contribute a solution.
