Creating web galleries in CS2 on my iMac "makes Photoshop crash."  WHY?

I have a newer iMac 24" 2.8GHz and I am trying to use CS2 on it. But when I try to create a web gallery it crashes. Does anyone know why?

Christian,
What Jim is referring to is this knowledgebase article:
It also has a link to a download to fix this problem with the cs2 web galleries. But basically, CS2 is not all that compatible with Leopard so be prepared for oddnesses at any time.

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/using/create-web-galleries-pdfs-adobe.html

    Plug-ins that failed to load:
It seems to me that something is wrong with your install. Maybe you did clone a former mac to install on this one? or copies old stuff to the new one. Don't know, it seems easy and quick but I prefer always a new install using a new computer or switching to a new system upgrade.
Lightning effects shows to be 32 bit while I think to know that Photoshop CS5 and CS5.5 are both 64 bit, however Bridge was turned to 64 bit in the CS6 version but that should not mater for you to use both applications from the same install disk (or download?)
And variations is something I tried to find in CS6 but can't find it there. I had long forgotten this feature that presented different previews and you could switch to color corrections and brightness (not sure) while looking at the result in the previews.
So I think you have some old material residing on your system. I would advice you to back up all custom settings (actions, tools, workspaces etc. and keywords in Bridge) Then do a search for the Adobe Cleaner tool :
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html?promoid=GYTAU
(don't know this links work for you but you can find it easy with google).
Read the instructions carefully and follow this using the official uninstaller that came with PS (see application folder). Also be sure to have your serial number and AdobeID present and while an activation of PS is for the computer maybe for security first deactivate before uninstall.

  • Creating Web Galleries in Aperture 3

Does anyone know of any third party web gallery plug-ins for Aperture? The standard templates are very limiting and I need to add logos and far more information than is currently supported. Currently I am exporting the jpegs from Aperture and importing them into Lightroom to create web galleries - which seems a little long winded.
    Thanks,
    JB

    Okay, got it sorted out.
If you look at my screen shot, by default it created a "Web Gallery", because that is what I selected originally. I believe this will be a common occurance given the fact that "web gallery" means something different now. Why the need for the change? The should have called the new "web gallery", "publish to .mac"...It will save a lot of frustration given the new default behavior.
Going back to the "untitled project" I created as a test lets me now create a web page when I do a "new from selection".
This is a great example of when you go and change features under a feature name, it stinks from a user perspective.
None the less, they did nothing to improve the html templates...
    problem solved.

  • Can you create web galleries in CS4?

I noticed the feature to create a web gallery from a folder of images is no longer in the same menu dropdown. Is this feature still available in CS4? If so, where do I go to find it.
IF NOT, is their another way to create automated web galleries?
    Thanks for your help.
    -Jason

Yes within Bridge buried in the Workspace dialog box area.
Bridge now does galleries similar to the way Lightroom can create web galleries.
Lightroom does an excellent job of this.
This is a simple html version but you can generate Flash galleries as well:

  • Adding images to LR Created Web Galleries

Quick question - When you want to add photos to your online web galleries that were created in Lightroom, do you re-create the whole gallery with the new photos and then replace the folder with your hosting service or can you just add photos?
    Thanks!

Has anyone built an image gallery in Lightroom and had a problem with the rollover image working in IE6? When I roll over the image it does not show the highlighted box like it should. When I view it in IE7 or on my Mac it works fine.
Any ideas on what I need to fix?
    Thanks for your help.

  • How can I use bridge to create web galleries with more than 10 images?

I am new to building web galleris for my website. When i try to load more than 10 images in a gallery , Bridge cuts off all images beyond 10. I am confident that I can do this if i can find the right settings

I am not at my PS computer right now, but I think the Preview only shows 10 images (for speed) but they will all be there in the final output.

  • Creating Web Galleries

I have tried to search for a like post, so sorry if I duplicate this. My Aperture install is fine and has been running for about 6 months now. I use the web gallery feature to show proofs of weddings I have done, it has worked twice. Now when I select create web gallery from the images I have selected for proof, all Aperure does is create another folder, and doesn't fire up the gallery select feature so I can upload etc.... anyone know what the problem is????
    cheers

  • Creating Web Galleries with LR

    A few questions...
LR writes the images to /bin....where is this? I want to check the size of the files it is writing.
Also, is there a way to create a gallery with multiple galleries, or does each gallery have to be created on its own?
Can the templates be edited, for instance can the back/index/next positions be altered?
Finally, can the galleries once created be incorporated into a web site? I think the method is frames or i frames?
A newbie, sp please be gentle :-)
    Phil

You can check the file sizes when you export. Prior to that, the files are written to a temporary directory. Where that is located is anybody's guess.
The reason there are three different sizes written on export is that the Flash gallery will compare the screen size of the person viewing the gallery to the files and will load those files which are most appropriate for the user's screen.
If you want the files to be smaller, you can adjust the quality of the JPGs in the panels to the right side of the interface. By moving the image quality down to 80 or 75 percent, you'll find a significant difference in the size of the exported gallery, with very little perceivable drop in image quality on screen.
So far as I've found, you cannot modify the template files that ship with Lightroom, though you can certainly create your own custom galleries. I've done just that, and released it publicly only three hours ago:
    http://theturninggate.com/blog/adobe-lightroom-slimbox-template
If you're interested in making templates of your own, http://www.lightroomgalleries.com is a good place to get started.
As for integrating Lightroom galleries into existing websites, you need to use frames or iframes with the Flash galleries. With the HTML galleries, you'd probably do best simply to use your site as an index linking out to the gallery.
Using my slimbox template, however, it should be much simpler. I haven't actually tested it yet, but it's something that was high on my priority list in making the template.
Theoretically, you should be able to copy the full contents of the "lightboxgallery" DIV and paste them into any page. Do a batch Find & Replace to set the correct path to the images and thumbnails wherever you choose to put them, then be sure to include the Javascript and Stylesheet in the head of the path (also with correct path). There's no reason I can see that the code can't run from any page on any site so long as the connections are in place. And because the gallery runs from a single HTML file, it's dead simple to sort it all out.
I hope that answers all the questions.

  • Creating web galleries: Basic workflow

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS09C82293-1DE0-42de-97F3-A5EDF26A55C7.html

I'm using LR4 and will shortly be cataloguing a large number of photos of people and places. I can produce the web album I want, but I also need to be able to produce a search page which searches the metadata. Is this possible?
Will LR4 ever be able to identify every person in a photo by hovering the mouse over each person?

HOW DO I CREATE A GALLERY IN DREAMWEAVER CS5!?

  • Making Bridge web galleries searchable

I'm sure this will have been asked before on the forum, but after scrolling thought the first four pages of topics I can't see it raised anywhere.
Is there an easy way of adding a search engine that will interrogate a file's metadata when creating a web gallery in Bridge?
The company I work for is looking to set up a gallery of 2,000 graphics to begin with, which will probably grow to 10,000 graphics before too long.
Bridge is great because it converts Illustrator vector files to jpegs (the organisation is Microsoft Office-based, and most staff cannot read vector files). But obviously the resulting gallery has to be searchable. It seems odd that Adobe hasn't included this option as standard when creating web galleries.
I'm a graphic designer by trade, and although I can do a little bit of coding I'm certainly no expert in that area. So I do need a simple solution.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice offered and sorry if I'm bringing up an old chestnut again.

It sounds like your html files are assigned to fireworks instead of safari. Open your file browser (windows explorer or mac equivelent) find an html file and look at it properties. In windows this is where you can change the app that is the default. I am not sure how on a MAC, but hopefully it will jog your memory or someone else will answer.

  • Multiple Libraries and Web Galleries

I just upgraded to iLife 08 and I'm wondering if the web gallery feature is compatible with the web galleries feature.
Here's my situation: I have several three primary iPhoto libraries: one of family pix, one of photos from Congo, related to my aunt and uncle's mission work (which I use for their website), and one related to the ministry of my husband's church. I have one .mac account.
If possible, I want to create web galleries using two of these iPhoto libraries, but I'm worried that when I "publish" galleries from the Congo library that the galleries I previously published from my family library will be erased from my iDisk. I searched the forums but I didn't find any discussion of this. Does anyone else have any experience in this regard?
    Thanks,
    kabing

    kabing:
Web galleries published from different libraries will not remove previously published galleries. Just make sure the gallery names are not the same.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Why do web galleries often appear "digitized"?

I occasionally find after creating a web gallery that it will appear digitized once viewed online, both on PC desktop and laptop.
Recent gallery seemed fine on my La Cie monitor but "off" on my HP laptop. I'm wondering if it's a screen resolution mismatch.
    Thoughts?
CS5; Windows 7 - desktop; Vista - laptop; plenty of RAM, etc.

    Thanks again.

OK you using a non color managed Browser. Color space may be an issue I don't see an option to convert to sRGB but that may be the default mode of operation. I don't use the Bridge for creating Web Galleries IMO bridge's output module is very poor. I think Adobe short changed their users by adding it and removing better features from Photoshop. I use Photoshop to generate HTML web galleries. I installed Photoshop Old Photo Web Gallery support to generate customized HTML web Galleries and I use Photoshop scripts to generate Flash Web Galleries.  While the Bridges  upload Web Gallery to web server option seems to be a nice option. I would rather do that as a low priority Background Windows FTP job and be able to use Photoshop during the upload for upload web connectios bandwidth is slow and uploads can be long running.  Adobe really disappointed me when they added the Bridge's output module and removed better features from Photoshop. With the Bridge
output module you can not customize Web galleries well and its PDF support lacks the abilities of the PDF support they removed from Photoshop and that PDF support can NOT be downloaded from Adobe's web site and installed into Photoshop.  If you need the removed support you have to keep two version of Photoshop installed on you system and forget about getting support for the old version you need to have.  Adobe's support is very poor and they drop support for old version of Photoshop like a hot potato.

  • CS2 crashes when I attempt to create web gallery.

I am trying to create a web gallery for my clients and it continues to crash CS2. I am working on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.5 with 2 GB of RAM. It doesn't even start the task when I get the option to report the problem to Apple. I have run the software update through Apple and Adobe and I seem to be current on OS and CS2. Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution?

The problem may be related to not having a separate Scratch disk and insufficient RAM.
