Creating wi reports outside Infoview

Hello everybody,
I would like to create wi reports outside infoview, so that i have a Java Application and I would include a link directly to the BO specific universe query panel. I dont know where i have to change in BO SDK code. Do you have any idea ????
Thank you very much
Cesar

OK Ted, thank you for your information.
Do you know in which sdk components i have to use to create a custom Java Web Application to launch the Java Report Panel ???
I mean, in which jsp files i have to work ?
Any sample ?
Thanks a lot for your help.

When I click on New in InfoView, I see Crystal Reports as an option. I've been creating Crystal Reports locally, then loading them into InfoView.  Can I create Crystal Reports right through InfoView?  When I click on the Crystal Reports option in the New menu, I get a page not found error.  The same thing is true if I click Modify on one I loaded in.  Do we need to install something on the server to enable this?  Thanks!

Is anyone from BO looking at these forums?  I have noted the very same problem with our site.

  • DB error while running reports in InfoView

    Hi,
we are trying to create a report in infoview.
however we are facing following error while trying to create new webintelligence document or running existing report:
A database error occured. The database error text is: (CS) "DBDriver failed to load : /bobje/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86/dataAccess/RDBMS/connectionServer/libdbd_oci9.so (libclntsh.so.11.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64)" . (WIS 10901)
We are using BO XI 3.1 SP2, Oracle 11g server on Linux.  Both oracle and bo server are on same machine.
    thanks in advance.

Looks to me that you are using the 64bit oracle driver. Make sure to set your LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable (for th euser running the BO services) to point first to the directory with the 32bit libraries of the Oracle driver.

  • Creating reports in infoview

    Hello! Forums,
Can anyone please tell me how to format the crystal reports in InfoView. My report is displayed in crystal report viewer. I cannot see the formatting options like drill, formulas, etc.in this viewer. I tried to set the viewer in preferences section of infoview which gave 3 options 1) web 2)web activeX 3) web java but then also I did not get the options to format or drill or formulas in my cr viewer. Is it anything related to license issue? Please suggest me some references to learn preparing reports in BOE 3.1 step by step.
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    Grace

For CR reports you need the CR Designer 2008 V1
For WebI reports you can do that directly in the InfoView or by using the Web Intelligence Rich CLient XI 3.1 (is part of the BOE CLient tools XI 3.1).
You can look at the documentation found here: http://help.sap.com
Navigate to SAP BusinessObjects->All products and select either Web Intelligence XI 3.1 SP3 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1

Could you please test the following solutions to resolve the issue.
    Solution1:
Test the issue by inserting the following parameter in .SBO file.
    <Parameter Name="Force SQLExecute">Always</Parameter> .
    Solution2
Just put SET NOCOUNT OFF in the end of the stored procedure SQL.
If the above doesnu2019t works then please try the following solution.

  • Error Message when Scheduling a report in Infoview

I have created a report in Crystal Report using the Universe.  Report is saved to the Enterprise and set up to schedule in Infoview.
When the report is scheduled for now or any other "when" time, I receive the error message:
"Error in File C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Data\procSched\tfcu-fics.reportjobserver\~tmp58860bbee30730.rpt: Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters."
Currently running CR Version - 11.5.0313
    BOE Version - 11.5
On my workstation - the ODBC connection, System DSN, for crystal is using the Adaptive Server Anywhere 9.00 driver - have no issues creating the report from the Universe.
On the server the ODBC connection, System DSN, for crystal is using the SQL Anywhere 10 driver.  Would using the SQL Anywhere 10 driver create the error message above?
To test this I changed the workstation System DSN connection for crystal to SQL Anywhere 10 and when trying to refresh a report created from the Universe I kept receiving the ODBC Login window asking for the database password.
Is there an issue with SQL Anywhere 10 and a Universe not holding the database username or password?

    Try This..
    1. Open the crystal client on your local machine and import that particular report.
    2. Do Database -> Verify Database. Then refresh the report on your PC and make sure that it returns data as expected.
    3. Export it back to repository and try scheduling it again. You can verify through CMC for Crystal Reports under " Database Configuration" property to make sure it points to the right ODBC.
    Let us know.

    Hi Selya,
Have you applied any service pack for BOXIR2?
Which reports are these WebI,DeskI, or Crystal Reports?
Which InfoView do you have .net or java?
Is the issue is viewer specific?
Is the issue is with all the report or single report?

  • Unable to create webI report??

    HI all
I am using BO XI3.1 SP3, when I logged into infoview and click on the new webintelligence document, I see universes available and select the universe then it is showing as "PLUGIN's NOT INSTALLED" instead of showing the query panel of the report.
Can any one please let me know exactly what plugin should I install before I start creating webI reports???

    @denis
When I tried in mozilla it says "A plugin is needed to display content...Install plugins"
when I click on install plugin
firefox checks for available plugins for couple seconds and finally popus a window saying "No suitable Plugins found"
when I click on more plugins it takes me to some another page in mozilla "plugins addons for mozzila"
here I found "Java version 6 update 27" so I am installing this version of java.
I don't have any admin rights...and all this is on my personal laptop, company didn't issued any laptop of their own.

  • Getting Database Logon Prompt when trying to run report from Infoview

I have a user who has 2 Crystal reports loaded in InfoView.  The reports are similar except for the parameters.  When scheduling one of the reports, she is being prompted with the database logon information everytime she tries to enter the parameters.  But on the other, she isn't.  All she is prompted with is the parameters of the report.  Which setting in InfoView or CMC controls the database logon prompt? We are on BOE 11.5.
    Thanks,
    Maureen

Dynamic Parameters. You'll want to get all your report designers up on this topic.
When you create a dynamic parameter in a Crystal Report, and then publish it to the Enterprise, you are creating a Business View, with all it's underlying necessary layers. Dynamic Parameters exist to be able to use the same LOV (a list of current customers) from a database for more than one report. These dynamic parameter LOVs act like a mini report that runs against the database and gets the current values for selection, then the selection(s) are used to run the overall report.
So I create a report, and in it I create a dynamic Customer LOV. When I save it, the Enterprise creates a Data Connection (DC), Data Foundation (DF), Business Element (BE), Business View (BV), and the list of values is built on the Prompt Group. So, my Business View Manager, Repository Explorer will show (in the default Dynamic Cascading Prompts folder):
    Customer_DC
    Customer_DF
    Customer_BE
    Customer_BV
    Customer - Prompt Group
    Customer (the LOV)
The idea is that next time I create a report and need a customer parameter, I select the existing dynamic group. If the report designer is unaware of this, and next time they create a new report that needs a customer LOV, they creates a new dynamic LOV "Customer", when saved to the Enterprise, it repeats the above. Since repository objects must have unique names, you will now have additional items something like:
    Customer 2_DC
    Customer 2_DF
    Customer 2_BE
    Customer 2_BV
    Customer 2 - Prompt Group
    Customer 2 (the LOV)
So you can see how that folder will get filled with duplicates pretty quickly. Which ones were created and used in which reports? Have to open the report in Crystal Reports, open the parameter for Edit and verify the LOV name (_2, _3, _4, etc). If you do in fact discover there are dupes, you can change it to a single one for all reports using a dynamic LOV, re-save them to the Enterprise, then delete the dupes in the BVM.
You've already discovered how to use the BVM to update the data connection to include/save the database credentials. The only other common issue is sometimes the LOV rights need to be changed in order to allow users to "Edit" the LOV (select different values in the LOV). You'd have to run the report as an end user, not the admin account or the report designer account to verify that works.
Another item of note is that these dynamic LOVs are run by the Report Application Server (RAS), regardless of which viewer you are using.
The Business View Manager administration guide has more information on the subject.

  • DeskI report from Infoview - doc.zabo_fc

    Post Author: nagh
    CA Forum: Administration
In BO XIR2, I tried to edit / create a DeskI report from Infoview on a PC, where no DeskI is installed. Then it prompted me to download a file doc.zabo_fc. I downloaded the file; but even then I could not create / edit a report. So is it correct that, even if we invoke Deski through Infoview (to create/edit a report), we should have a local installation of the DeskI ??  Please clarify.

    Hi nagh,
Thats right. You need to have DeskI Client locally installed on your machine for the create/edit option from Infoview for deski reports. This is the difference from the earlier 6.5.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to hide WebI report in infoview

    Hi,
I have created a sub-report which opens when user clicks on hyperlink in main report. To get it to work, I uploaded both reports to Infoview.
Now both of the reports are showing so a user could potential run the sub-report first which I don't want them to do. All I want them to see is the original report. Is there anyway to hide the 2nd report so a user can't see it?
    Thanks in advance.

    hi Jayesh,
Can you try this. Keep the sub-report in your favorites and once the user clicks on the link, then he can access the report from your favorites section. What i mean by this is do not publish your sub-report in the folder which has main report. In that way, the user will be able to see only the main report and click on the link and go to sub-report.
    Hope it helps...

  • Creating Crystal Reports with Crystal Report Server XI

    Hello,
I am new to Crystal Reports, i installed Crystal Reports Server XI R2 on Windows 2003 server with SP2 and was able to launch Inforview application and also Central Management Console Log On.

    Two ways to create reports:
    1) You install the Crystal reports Designer (CRW32.exe).
With your Crystal Report Server, you should also have received a second CD that would have the CR designer.
    2) You use the RAS SDK and create reports on the fly using the RAS report creation APIs - .NET or Java. Since you are in the .NET developer forum, I assume you might be interested in the .NET RAS SDK. Here is a list of resources i would recommend:

  • Reports XI: Infoview behavior with Row Level Security

    Post Author: pwilliamsbssp
    CA Forum: General
I have a report that is based off a business view that has project information with an additional table used to assign report users to certain clients (each project has a client).  A filter is used to assign the report user to the current ce username. The report is scheduled by the administrator login.  Each user goes to view their report on Infoview and is able to view data for only those clients specifically assigned.   This functionality seems to work fine - everyone views one instance of the report and InfoView assigns the row level security. However, I'm running into a problem viewing report histories when adding or changing client assignments.   The historical reports come up either blank or with erroneous information (such as the current week's information instead of the previous week's data saved with the instance of the report).   I have not found a logical link between the behavior of the historical reports and the specific users.  Some can see one week and not another while others have the reverse, regardless of their security assignments.Does anyone understand the behavior of view historical reports with row-level security?  I have no idea what data/metadata is saved with each report instance and when the row-level security is being read.  Is it read when viewing the report? or, is it specific to the structure of the data when the report was run? With other reports using the same row-level security model I'm able to view the historical reports although it has the client assignments at the time the report was created.  But, at least I'm able to view the reports.Any insight welcome.Patrick Williams

  • Configure JNDI and deploy crystal report in Infoview

    Hi all,
I am trying to create a JNDI context and use it while generating a
crystal report. Now this report is deployed in Business Objects XI R3.1 Edge repository so users can view them through Infoview. The main reason I wanted to use JNDI is so I dont need to specify the database connection credentials in every report.
Issue is that I am not able to figure out the process to achieve this. I created a JNDI in tomcat as per instructions in the one of the SAP notes but there is no information of how to configure the same in CMC / Infoview. If I can get information on how to
    1. configure crconfig.xml (if need be) for jndi or specify jndi while creating connection in crystal report
    2. configure the JNDI in CMC or Infoview so that we dont have to specify the db connection credentials for every report
    that would be great.
we are using crystal reports 2008 sp1.
    thanks
    Joe.

I guess I found the issue. I was missing weblogic.jar in the classpath. After adding this, it worked.
Just noting the steps so anyone who comes here could be benefited. This is for Weblogic app server using Oracle 10g and Crystal reports 2008
    1. Open CRConfig.xml in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\4.0\java
    2. Inside <DataDriverCommon> and <Classpath> add the path of your ojdbc and weblogic jars
    3. For the JDBC tag, the entry would be like. The <JNDIUserName> tag should reference your weblogic app server user. This is generally the userid you would use to login to weblogic console.
    <JDBC>
         <CacheRowSetSize>100</CacheRowSetSize>
         <JDBCURL>jdbc:oracle:thin:<db_user_name>/<db_pwd>@<server_where_db_runs>:1521/<SID></JDBCURL>
         <JDBCClassName>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</JDBCClassName>
         <JDBCUserName><db_user_name></JDBCUserName>
            <JNDIURL>t3://localhost:7001</JNDIURL>
         <JNDIConnectionFactory>weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory</JNDIConnectionFactory>
         <JNDIInitContext>/</JNDIInitContext>
         <JNDIUserName>weblogic</JNDIUserName>
         <GenericJDBCDriver>
              <Default>
                   <ServerType>UNKNOWN</ServerType>
                   <QuoteIdentifierOnOff>ON</QuoteIdentifierOnOff>
                   <StoredProcType>Standard</StoredProcType>
                   <LogonStyle>Standard</LogonStyle>
              </Default>
              <Sybase>
                   <ServerType>SYBASE</ServerType>
                   <QuoteIdentifierOnOff>OFF</QuoteIdentifierOnOff>
                   <DriverClassName>com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver</DriverClassName>
                   <StoredProcType>Standard</StoredProcType>
                   <LogonStyle>MySQL</LogonStyle>
              </Sybase>
         </GenericJDBCDriver>
    </JDBC>
    4. Open Crystal reports designer and when you create a new connection, choose JDBC / JNDI
    5. In the pop-up choose JNDI (you will see the values for Provider URL, username and context as how you specified in the CRConfig.xml file). Specify the password for weblogic user
    6. Hit next and it should show you the available jndi
    7. Choose a JNDI and create the report
    8. Enjoy.

  • How to create Webi Reports with SAP BW Objects

    Hi,
I have no knowledge on creating webi reports with SAP BW Objects like (InfoCube, DSO, MultiProvider, Infoview, MasterData Infoobject).
As per my understanding Webi reports can be developed with universe which is created on BEx Queries or OLAP BAPI interface, unfortunately i don't have BEx App installed. So, i have to create OLAP universe in this case.
Here my question is can we create universe with all the available BW objects like InfoCube, DSO, MultiProvider, Infoview, MasterData Infoobject.
Please, Can anyone suggest a solution
    Thanks,
    Siva
    Edited by: siva@chinni on Apr 25, 2010 4:45 PM

    Hi,
Yes we can create WebI on the top of SAP Objects - InfoCube, DSO, Characteristics etc...
But we have to keep in mind that for WebI we must create Universe.
When we create universe we make direct connection with SAP Objects but we get less functionality - such Calculated Key Figures, Restricted Key Figures, formulas etc. Now you have to achieve all these missing components at Universe Level and at WebI level.
If you are creating your universe on the top of DSO and InfoObject then make sure they set for reporting.
There are some online documentation which tells that what functionality you can achieve.
Check the following document to have a bird's eye view.
There is another document in PPT which I could  not find online. It is very helpful document. It is:
