Creating Windows Application Installer from Flash

Hey,
hope someone can help me out
Im trying to find out with there is a possibility to convert or make a flash .exe file into a Windows Application and have it installed on the the computer.
I mean when you click the file it starts to instal on the computer like an application, creates shortcuts and so on. im guessing it has soming to do with AIR but cant seem to get it.
Any help will be much appriciated. Thanks in advance!
pavel

Ya i googled it and came up with many results, I was
just wondering if anyone thought one was better than
othersAh.
Well, it would have been good if you'd stated that in the first place. That might have engendered some discussion.
Better still would be if you tried out two or three of them, formed your own opinion, then posted that here and asked if other had similar experiences, or if there were any major issues that you might have missed in your testing, etc.

  • When creating an application installer in LV, what run-time engine or driver must be installed to install the VISA interactive control?

I've created an application installer using LabVIEW's application builder and use it to install NI MAX.  However, after running the installer, the VISA interactive control is disabled in NI MAX.
    The installer installs the following NI components:  NI LabVIEW Run-Time 2014 SP-1(64-bit), NI LabWindows/CVI Shared Run-Time Engine 2013 SP2, NI Measurement & Automation Explorer 14.5, NI-488.2 Application Development Support (includes run-time), NI-VISA Configuration Support 14.0.1, NI-VISA Runtime 14.0.1, NI-VISA Server 14.0, NI Systems Configuration Runtime 14.5.0, vision run-time, dc-power run-time.
If I download and run the 488.2 installer, the VISA interactive control is enabled in NI MAX.  But, the installer created with the application builder does not seem to install the necessary components.
What needs to be added to the installer to enable  the VISA interactive control (VISAIC)?
    Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion with the forum post that Jon sent you. I did some research on our internal database and I found out the component will not be installed by any of the components added from the additional installers section on the configuration of the installer. As you have already found out you need to install the full installer in order to enable this feature.
I know that this might be an inconvenient for you because you wanted to have one installer to run. On this case may I suggest using the NI Batch Installer Builder.
The NI Batch Installer Builder allows building installers that contain National Instruments software from several products. That way you can create an installer for you application in LabVIEW (and not include the drivers in the additional installer section), then use NI Batch Installer Builder to include the installer for your application and the full version of the drivers that you mentioned.
    Here is the download link:

And in here you can find instructions on how to get started with it:

  • Initiate Application Installation from App Catalog via Command Line / PowerShell

    Hey Guys -
We have a single, fairly extensive OSD task sequence which covers systems for all departments.  Due to it being a single TS for all, PC Lab techs must manually install some apps after it finishes via the Application Catalog.  In past environments,
I've used MDT's UDI Wizard to create a frontend where techs could select additional software they wanted installed during the TS and it worked great!  I'm trying to get something like that approved now, but in the meantime told the techs I'd come up with
a temporary solution to make their job easier.
Enter WPI (Windows Post Installer.)  Back in the days before I used SCCM OSD and relied in Acronis images (yuck), I used a the WPI tool which only ran once - at the first login - even before the desktop
loaded.  It's highly customizable and basically shows a single window which lists any applications or scripts (in groups) which you have configured.  You place a checkmark beside each one you want to install, click the "Install" button,
then watch it's installer frontend install each of the selected apps.  Once done, it either restarts the PC or exists to the desktop.  For each application I can add, I'm provided with a few options to
install it.  Obviously, an installation command line string field, but also a few more like installation order, requirements, and dependencies.
    My Question
Each of the applications I've listed are in our Application Catalog and are advertised to All Users.  Even though I could simply point the installer string to the app's source path and use the same string that the SCCM Application uses, I've been asked
to do something different.  Instead, I'm trying to find a command line string which when run would perform the same action as if a user had selected to install an Application from the Application Catalog.
My thoughts are that if this is possible, it would probably be in the form of a PowerShell string - not just a basic command line one.  Since WPI has a frontend which shows the progress of each app's installation progress as well as overall progress,
it's designed for the installation strings to install the app silently.  Therefore, I would much prefer my solution run silently as well if possible.
So... does anyone have any idea for how I can make this happen? Thanks!
In case it makes a difference or answers any questions, below are two screenshots showing most of the fields and options which may be used to configure how an application installs in WPI.  I couldn't include the Dependencies one since I could only
attach two images to my post.  Also, the manual for WPI is embedded in the application's
download (ZIP) and not a page on their site.  For the examples below, I used Google Chrome, but didn't configure anything besides the application's name:
    Application Detail Options
    Application Command Options
    Ben K.

From what I'm reading, you are working towards MDT but it's not approved yet, so the goal is to:
Deploy a "bundle" of applications as painlessly as possible without using UDI to make customizations quick.
    Lets talk options then.
Option 1:  If machines types are in a unique OU or security group, create a collection for that and set these applications to mandatory install.  After initial deployment, the provisioner can drop the computer in the proper OU or group and you're
good to go.  Downside:  collections refresh plus client check-in makes this less than instant.
Option 2:  Orchestrator.  You can write a runbook that will approve and push apps.  You can then use the Orch console front end or a more friendly sharepoint/SM portal to push things out like a Manager would approve apps.  Downside:  if
not already deployed, there's no way they would approve that infrastructure if they are hesitant about MDT/UDI :)
Option 3:  PowerShell and WMI.  This should be doable ... but I've never tried it.  It looks like you're headed down the right path ... but i guess my question is:  if you can't have UDI when do get to pick the app?  Are you planning
to write a full multi-box for them to check their apps after the fact?  In that case ... just have the appcontroller URL pop up on first login ... might be easier than reinventing the wheel.

  • Create Windows 8 Installer for Y500

I have a client that has asked me to help him with his new laptop.  He's ordered a Y500 and sperately ordered a 512GB SSD.  I need to install the SSD, then install / transfer his data and apps from another drive.
Can I create Windows 8 USB install media before removing the OEM drive?  He said there are no disks that came with the laptop, so I assume the windows 8 installer is in a recovery partiion.  (I've never worked with a Lenovo before).
I'll be doing this in a hotel with crappy internet at best, in a small town with no place to buy anythig I would need.  I'll have my Mac Book air, a couple 4GB drives, a 1TB WD External drive to transfer data and a screwdriver.  I'm hoping I can create the install media from the original disk on the 4GB USB, install the new HD, and do a clean WIndows 8 install on it.  Will this work?

Hi kerberos42, welcome to the forum,
I've read some posts in the forums where members state that what you propose may not work; installing a brand new drive after creating Win8 media doesn't seem to work on some systems, recovering the original drive however does work. Unfortunately I can't verify this as I don't work for Lenovo nor do I have a shed full of systems to test on.
That said I'm always in favour of cloning, which I also haven't tried on that system, but it's normally a lot quicker than installing. I don't see why it shouldn't work although I do see one problem; the One Key Recovery function would probably be broken due to the possible resizing of partitions.  I'd insert the new disc as primary and clone to it with the original drive in an USB caddy using an Acronis rescue disc, I'd adjust only the "C" partition size leaving all others as were.  The recovery partition, if OKR doesn't work could be reclaimed to "C" afterwards and keep the original drive safe for the possible worst case event.
I don't know how much time you have to prepare, I've got 13 years of notebook support under my belt and still get surprised on a regular basis, but I would also go prepared to make a clean install if necessary; as the Win8 product key is embedded in BIOS just ensure you have a copy of the correct version. You can always download the drivers to an USB stick beforehand or better, they should be on the original drive in a folder called SWTOOLS.

  • How to create Windows 8 installation media from Hidden Recovery partition

My laptop (HP Envy 15- j048tx) came pre-installed with a Windows 8 (OEM) on UEFI GPT partition. Somehow I messed up with the pre-installed Windows 8 and made a clean update to Windows 8.1 (Pro) after enabling Legacy BIOS as the boot method in the CMOS setup. Then i realise that the 8.1(pro) doesn't have Windows product key and hence could not be activated. Before I change the boot method from UEFI to BIOS, trying being cautious, i managed to make a copy of the Recovery partition (22.6 GB) to a USB drive. FYI, While I was still using the pre-installed OEM OS, I also tried to create a recovery DVD (which requires 6 DVD) but I gave it up after burning only the first Disc (Disc-1 of 6.)
Now i'm trying to go back to the default Windows 8 provided by the OEM, as I believe, it has with it a product key embedded somewhere in the BIOS. However, I cannot load the Windows from the copy of the recovery partition I've made earlier. Here's what i've worked around unsuccesfully: Burned an ISO of the Disc-1 (recovery DVD) with 'Image Burn', Edited the ISO file with 'WinISO' and added the entire 22.6 GB file from the recovery partition and then generated a USB Installation drive in GPT partition style with 'Rufus'. I disabled the Legacy BIOS mode, enabled Secured boot and tried to re-install Windows 8 but a message pop-up showing "Selected boot image did not authenticate. Press <enter> to continue."
I've tried to look-up the HP site to see if I can get help or to order HP recovery Disc (reluctantly though), but, guess, the site's support section was probably having some problem!
Inspite of all my failed attempt, i'm still hopeful that something can be done to go back to the original OEM Windows from the back-up copy of the recovery partition I have with me. I shall be very grateful if somebody can help me get this mess sorted, while, keeping the ordering of HP Recovery Disc as a last resort.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers and tips!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I understand that you copied the recovery partition to a USB drive before you accidentally did a clean install of Windows 8.1 pro  but  you did not have an activation key for that version.
When you copied the recovery partition to the USB drive did you use Windows 8 to format the USB for Windows 8 before you copied the recovery manager.  If not it will not work properly.
If you did format the USB correctly you can try this.
Format the drive creating the necessary partitions first. Now try coping the recovery manager to the one partition . Once you have it copied  then try to access the recovery manager to do a full recovery back to factory.
If this was unsuccessful please contact HP support to obtain a recovery kit.

  • Windows 7 installation from USB drive issue

I tried installing Windows 7 through a USB Thumb drive. I got an error message saying
"No device drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."
    Please help me.

    Hi:
See if either of the driver files I have attached work.
If they don't, I won't be able to assist you any further.
You will have to try each of them separately, because they have the same file names in the folders.
Download, unzip and copy just the files in the folders to a usb flash drive.
With the flash drive and W7 installation media plugged into the machine, boot from the W7 installation media.
After you select the install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option.
You should now see the storage driver files listed.
If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.
Follow the prompts and hopefully, W7 will install.

  • Export Windows native installer from MAC

    Hello,
I am developing an desktop app that needs to be compiled into Native installer (because i'm using NativeProcess class).
The fact is that i am working on FB4.7 OSX and i'm only able to compile the Mac version of my app (into .dmg file), and not the windows one...
Is there a way to build that Win version from my mac ?
(it would be a shame not to be able to export both versions, or my conception of AIR is wrong...) ?
    Thanks,
    Arthy

After you downloaded the Windows Media Player, did you use the Stuffit expander to unpack the file? If not, go here http://www.allume.com/mac/index.html and download the free version of Stuffit. Once you have expanded the file you will see the install file for the Windows Media Player, click on that and it should install properly.
The player is compatible with Tiger.

    Dear All,
When I created e-Learning content through the flash and
published it from SCORM 1.2 standard to upload in new IBM LMS 1.04
version, it is not working properly.
How to generate the XML files needed for communicating with

    You can use the
Reload Editor to create the XML
files for both scorm 1.2 and 2004, but I think it is more likely
that your communication problem is in the javascript wrapper.
Captivate uses the same SCORM setup, so searching for

  • Creating windows .bat file from within an oracle .prc or .sql file

I am currently converting a series of batch jobs on a windows server to use an Oracle db rather than a MS sql server db. In ms sql, I could call \mssql80\binn\isql and it allowed me to pass in .prc files and have a .bat file returned. the .bat file is then executed in the calling bat to set variable value returned in the sql call...
I am thinking I can spool a bat file, however, i do not know how to populate this file with the literals and query values needed to create the bat file which sets values used for further processing in the original calling bat file...
Does that make sense? any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
There can be various ways to do this.
First and simple way is simply spooling out the batch file. Suppose you have a .sql file with all the queries, run the .sql from DOS prompt like this,
    c:\> sqlplus -s username/password@tnsname @mysqlfile.sql
the contents of mysqlfile.sql can be,
    rem ---------------------
set echo off feedback off head off
    spool c:\batch_files\mybatch.bat
    select 'start \w ' || win_app_name from mytable ;
    spool off
    rem ----------------------
    exit
So, you can get the batch file created with desired name in desired directory. The '-s' mentioned in the sqlplus command is important.
There is another difficult/tedious way, but that can give you exact output. With UTL_FILE package you can write an operating system file from pl/sql code, stored procedure/package. Its look more like C-language code, but is usefull. So, write a sql or stored procedure and create the batch file. For that matter, you can write any type of file, just you can write whatever you want to a file.
    Cheers

  • Cannot stop "restore windows" dialog box from flashing. Please help!

Finder not working! Bouncing finder icon and flashing 'restore windows' box are driving me slowly insane. I tried a few tricks like rebooting Lion 10.7.5 and deselecting "restore' in prefs but nothing has worked. Haven't found right terminal command yet either. I shut down my Mac with Safari open and maybe Google Chrome also, and when I turned it back on...my odyssey began. If you have ANY suggestions your help would be greatly appreciated.

I got the same problem: I just purchased Office 13. When I tried to open a Word file that came viaOutlook I got the dialog box "Word can't open this file because a dialog box is open" but when I clicked further it opened the file OK and gave
me the option to remove "Protected View" which I did and everything was OK. I called MS Support and the person who answered had a very thick accent that I could barely understand. When I told him my problem he did not understand it and said the program
is trying to prevent me from opening viruses. I asked, why didn't it say instead of giving me the "open dialog box" error message? He had no answer and suggested I buy Microsoft support for $149 a year of $99 per incident. Great customer service,
eh? Then I tried this solution by unchecking "Enable Protected View for Outlook Attachments" in the Trust Center and the Word files opened normally. I am very disappointed in Microsoft but thank Mike_obe for his excellent help

  • Fixed size browser window pop-up from flash?

Hi there... I'm finishing off a flash website for a band and
    I've created a little music player that's 380 x 250 pixels...
There's a "launch music player" button in my site and when pple
click on it, I'd like the music player (which is a flash file
embedded in an html file) to pop up in it's own little browser
window. I know how to make normal full size windows pop up (by
using the: getURL("location", "_blank").... function) but I need a
browser window that doesn't scroll and isn't resizeable, with a
fixed size of 380 x 250 to pop up. I know how to do this in HTML
(dreamweaver), but not in flash - can anyone help?
    Mal

Using the getURL function you can call a specific javascript
function where you can create a new window with specific size:
    getURL('javascript:FUNCTION();');

  • Remove windows Installation from Old WD hard drive and Install Fresh Copy on the New One.

Hi Community! I just bought a new WD Blue 1 TB hard drive, my old hard drive is WD Blue caviar 500 GB, running on Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit.
There are two things I wish to do: 1. Firstly, if it's possible, I would like to copy some videos, images, music etc. from my OLD Drive to the new one.
Please note that, I don't have an external disk to do it, I know that would've been less complicated, but that's not an option at this point. 2. Secondly, once that is done, if possible, I want to remove windows 7 installation from my old hard drive, re-partition it to make it just the storage drive, and finally install
fresh copy of windows 7- 64 bit to the new Hard drive.
Please note that, my old Hard drive is installed on windows 7- 32 bit and now I want to install a fresh copy of Windows 7-64bit instead of 32bit, because I am upgrading my
    configuration with better ones.
I am adding 4 GB corsair vengeance ram to my 2 GB corsair ram, so that is 6 GB in total.
I am adding 1 TB hard disk to my 500 GB Hard disk, so that is 1500 GB.
Both my processor and mother board supports 64 bit.
Intel® Pentium® Processor G2020 (3M Cache, 2.90 GHz) And this Mother board - "Biostar H61MGV3"I know that you could clone the partition and migrate the installation from one hard drive to another using the Acronis True Image WD Edition Software, but I don't want that.
In simple words, say I have a dos computer, I installed my 1TB WD hard drive, installed a fresh copy of windows 7-64bit. So my computer is up and running. Now, I have another hard
drive which I wish to use, that is 500GB WD, but it has Windows 7-32 bit installed in it.
So what I want to do is, make this old hard drive a complete 500 gb storage device and remove the windows installation from it, without loosing music, videos, etc. and then lastly
copying the music and other media to the new hard drive, and formatting it completely.
I am perhaps making this very complicated, I know you would have better easier solution for this.
I am frustrated, your help would be appreciated, thanks a lot. Sincerely, Abe

Since you don't want to clone the drive (I agree with you), you can just swap drives and install Windows on the new drive. Windows won't complain that you are installing on a different drive because it only cares if you change more than one piece of hardware at a time. The problem will arise when you copy the files from the old drive because you cannot just connect it via SATA. That would confuse Windows, as both installations were run on that hardware. You need to mount it in an external dock via USB 2.0/3.0 which will isolate the details of the OS. After you copy all necessary files, you can use WDC Lifeguard to write zeros to the entire disk and then create a new partition. After that you can mount it via SATA because it will be a new drive. Do NOT be in a hurry to wipe the drive however, as you don't want to forget something.
