Creating windows cluster after Oracle single instance installation

Hi,
I have installed and created Oracle 11g R1 single instance server. The database also created on the server. Microsoft windows 2003 enterprise was not cluster during the said installation.
Now, the requirement has changed and as per new architecture, we want to create microsoft cluster having 2 nodes in it.
We want to move the current database instance data files on node 1 of the new cluster.
My Q's is, what will be effect of the current architecture. Also, how we can do it?

hi,
do I need minimum of 2 servers in order to carry out 11.2 oracle single instance RAC installation ? or that its possible with one node? and then can add more nodes in future?
is there any article/documents on this?

it doesnt directly say its possible and I cant find full documentation on how to go about it ... but seem like its possible ?

Oracle single instance 10.2.0.4 on AIX 5.3 with GPFS

Is there anybody ever that has been used oracle SINGLE instance with only all data files & its archival on AIX GPFS filesystem ? I am currently supporting on this environment, and would like to know whether there is any concern or issue.

Pl post details of exact versions of OS and database. By "SINGLE", do you mean a non-RAC database ? I believe it is supported - more details in MOS Doc 282036.1 (Minimum Software Versions and Patches Required to Support Oracle Products on IBM Power Systems)

Request help for confusion over Oracle single instance database

Hello all,
Following Oracle version was installed at the client site @ the moment
Oracle Database 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) on Non-Clustered enviornment.
The clients are going to arrange another identical server and wants to configure it with 2 nodes windows cluster enviornement.
The current server where Oracle server was installed will become active node of the cluster.
The confusion is if we should install the following version on node 2
Oracle Clusterware 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64)
or
node 2 should also be installed with
Oracle Database 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) version ?

I think it's first needed to think about what kind of configuration you want; Failsafe, DataGuard or even RAC? But you talk about clustered and an active node, so I take it the object is to create a Failsafe cluster.
If you want to use FailSafe first read about it, for example use http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/index-082893.html (Resources: Documentation)

Oracle11gR2 single instance installation procedure on AIX HACMP setup

Hi Everyone,
Can anyone please guide me the procedure of installing single instance oracle 11gR2 on an AIX HACMP setup? I have installed the oracle software on the shared disk storage but the dbstart/dbshut scripts fails to run during node failover. Really appreciate your assistance.

When you change the IP address of the server, and you have used the hardcoded IP everywhere, you likely need to reconfigure the database control.
How to do this has been posted here many times, and of course it also documented.
Look for/search for emctl reconfigure.

Error in installation of Central Instance in Windows Cluster with Oracle

If I try to continue with the installation of Central Instance of Cluster I get the following error:
The java load in database <sid>/<server> has already been configured.
Solution: remove the schema and load it with a new load before you run this installation
Can some one tell me how to proceed?

Windows 7 hanging at startup after oracle 11 g installation

hello Folks,
I'm using a dell laptop with i7 processor , 8 gb ram and win7-64 O S. Like the above mentioned issue its getting hanging at the start up and almost taking upto 5-10 mins to load other services and applications. Is it something related to this particular version? Because 10 g was running perfectly in the same machine. Is there is any other alternatives other than manual starting of oracle services...
Can i get a clear solution for this ....Thanking all in advance....

Pl post exact Win 7 version and exact "11g" version - pl note that Home version of Win is not supported for any Oracle installs. 11gR1 has not been certified on any Win 7 version. If you wanting to install 11gR2 on Win 7 Home, use a Linux VM - pl see my blog (linked in my profile) for detailed steps.

FRM-92119 in cluster, not in single instance

Hello everyone,
Background: Forms 11.1.2.1.0, JDK 1.7 u 11, 64-bit, Windows.
I have a 2-machine cluster set up behind a LBR. Both of the OHS are set to route to both of the WLS_FORMS managed servers. I have followed the instructions in the HA guide for setting this up.
I've defined a couple of configuration settings in frmweb.cfg and have corresponding environment files. When only one of the WLS_FORMS servers is running, things are working fine. This is the case regardless of which one of the WLS_FORMS is running. However, when both of the WLS_FORMS managed servers are up and running, I get FRM-92119 complaining about the ORACLE_INSTANCE not being set. The log files don't have anything more interesting than that.
Any clue as to what may be going on or even how to debug the issue?

I guess you stumbled upon Note 989118.1 Tuning / Load Balancing: How to Manually Create a New WLS Forms Managed Server in 11g (11.1.1.2 and Above) ?
It is mentioned there that you need to set the -Doracle.instance java property (amongst others) in the weblogic administration console. However; I found out that java properties set in the weblogic console are not picked up for the forms installation; you have to set them manually in one of the batch files used to start the managed servers.
For the original WLS_FORMS this is done in one of those files (startWeblogic.cmd, startManagedWeblogic.cmd or setDomainEnv.cmd; I don't remember) in an if condition; if you named your cloned server WLS_FORMS1 or something like it is mentioned in the note above most certainly this didn't happen.

Help: Creating a cluster for Oracle Database

In school, we've been testing the grid infraestructure, ASM and oracle database
but now, for a research, we should be able to install, Grid+Asm and oracle database Using at least 3 computers
where should we start?
we want to install all of them since the begining, I mean, A network. Operating system on each computer, disk slices for the ASM, and the Oracle database.

3. Prepare the disk storage for ASM
4. create users,groups and directory,
5. install package requirements (see documentations or MOS)
6. runclufy to verify if the systems are ready to be installed
7. install grid infra
8. create diskgroup in asm
9. install oracle software
10. create database
11. verify installation

High availability without RAC DB on windows cluster and multiple DB instanc

Is it possible to achieve High Availability on 2 Oracle DB in windows 2003 cluster servers and shared SAN server. without installing and configuring RAC DB and ASM.
Can we use Veritas or Symantec or anyother tool to get it done.
What are the options available to achive this?

SqlPlus always crash after Oracle Client 8 installation

I have installed Oracle 9 client to connect to a Oracle 7 server
The connection test seems to be good, but after installation SqlPlus always crash, in the event viewer i can see that sqlplusw.exe generate an error in oracommon9.dll.
Can I connect by ado.net to oracle server without oracle client?

In regards of metalink note 207303.1, a client 9i which connect to a version 7 database was never been supported, there are too many known problems without workaround either patches.

Connecting Window iTunes Store appears after every single search character

Hi Community,
if I use the search in iTunes 10.3.x Store, after tipping a single character always a separate window appears with the message "connecting to the store" - the window appear after every single character of a search e.g. "Madonna" and it will lasts minutes to get a result!

I've just tried following steps:
clear iTunes caches
delete iTunes plist's
delete and reinstall iTunes
perform pram reset
latest iTunes updates
Nothing helps at all to cover this problem!
This problem exits since a few month (starting with iTunes 10.2.x), just starts from one day to another without any change at the OS.

Try clicking Store>Authorize This Computer in iTunes.

CloudControl 12c: when adding cluster-database single instances are missing

Hello ,
I'e have installed the agent 12c on every single host of our RAC. When adding a database to CloudControl 12c just the RAC-instance gets discovered - but not the single database instances on each host.
Due to this when clicking targets -> databases I just see the cluster-database - but not every single instance of the database.
Compared to another RAC database this is totally different behaviour.
Any help will be appreciated

maybe I should try to explain the issue a little bit clearer...
We have one RAC database called PROD02. When clicking "targets -> databases" I see the following:
PROD02 of type Cluster Database
PROD021 of type Database Instance
PROD022 of type Database Instance
That's the way it shoudl be - that's the way I expected it...
For the newly cofgured RAC database, called PREP02, it looks different when clicking "targets -> databases"
PREP02 of type Cluster Database
The single instances don't show up. Of course I see the single instances when clicking on "PREP02" under the item "Instances".
Now I wonder why these two RAC databases are differently displayed when clicking "targets -> databases". When trying to add the single instances (clicking "Add" under "targets -> databases") and selecting then either "only on the host <hostname>" or "on all hosts in the cluster" no single instances are found or displayed...
